Chapter 4: A Different Kind of Hero

(F/n POV)

I sat in my bed with my laptop on my lap as I browsed different social media. "It's raining pretty hard out there..." I looked out the window at the sheets of rain coming down. 'Human! There is someone knocking!' One of the kittens said, trying to climb on my computer to get my attention. "Are you sure? its..." I looked at the time. "10:30, who would be down there?" I questioned the small bean until I too heard the faint beating. I closed my computer and stepped out off bed, sliding the short (f/c) silk robe over my sleep shorts and tank top.

I flipped on the lights as I walked down the stairs of the connected apartment to my clinic, all four kittens in tow. "Coming!" I called out. As I got closer, I could hear a faint voice that sounded a lot like Hachi's. It was hard to tell with how soft it was, but there was no mistaking it.

I quickly unlocked the door and let the soaked, dual haired stranger in. "I need you to help him, his name is Hachi and he apparently only trusts you." He said quickly and slightly out of breath. "I am watching him for a friend but he got out of my yard and was hit my a car a few minutes ago." It felt like someone squeezed my heart as Hachi looked up softly at me. '(F/n)... It hurts...'

"I know it hurts, I am going to help..." I said softly and looked up at the dripping wet stranger. "Please bring him in the back with me." I said walking into the examining room and pointing to the steel table. He gently laid Hachi down and pet his head. "Do you mind sitting in the waiting room?" I said, taking off the robe and putting gloves on before starting a sedative. He nodded and looked at Hachi before walking out. "He will be fine." I gave him a reassuring smile and made a promise I hoped I could keep.

--

I let out a sigh as I pulled off the bloody gloves and tossed them in the trash. I still couldn't feel relieved even though he was stable, that could turn at any moment. I washed my hands and went back out to the waiting room to tell him the news. "Excuse me, Shouto?" I said to get his attention. He was asleep in the chair with the 4 mischievous cats on his lap. I smiled. 'Cute..' He opened his eyes looked surprised at me standing there and I blushed. "You are, Shouto, right? I'm sorry if I got it wrong or you don't want to be called that, its just that's what Izuku calls you and it's your hero name..." I looked away as I trailed off, nervously picking at the hem of my night shirt.

"It's fine, you can call me that, but my last name is Todoroki if you would prefer to be more formal." He informed me. "Right, well good and bad news, Todoroki-san. Hachi is stable right now, but it could turn so I will need to keep him here for a few days to keep an eye on him." He nodded and tried to stand up, looking at the fur balls resting on him. "A-Ah! Sorry about them! they follow me everywhere and it sounds like they like you too..." I laughed quietly and walked over to him, picking up the kittens one by one and placing them back on the floor.

"What do you mean 'Sounds like they like me too?' Were they making a noise?" Todoroki questioned. I shook my head. "Not out loud... But my quirk is that I can hear animal's thoughts and they all seem to really like you." I motioned to the one now rubbing against his ankles. "So it's like Koda..." He said quietly. "I don't know who that is, but I guess so..." I smiled.

I noticed his face was red and I slightly narrowed my eyes at him as he swayed a little. "Are you feeling ok-" He cut me of by falling forward, his head landing on my shoulder. My arms automatically wrapped around him to support his weight. "Heavy..." I mumbled as I tried to figure out what to do with him. His face almost burned to the touch as it rested on my exposed shoulder.

After a lot of struggling, I managed to get him up the stairs and into my apartment. I let go of him and let him flop onto the bed. I looked down at him and his wet clothes. "I can't just leave him in them... He will probably think I am some sort of pervert if he wakes up in different clothes though..." I mumbled. I quickly went over to my closet and fetched an oversized shirt with the clinic's logo on it and a pair of sweat pants that I bought but ended up being too big.

"I'm sorry..." I mumbled the apology and I looked away with a beet red face as I struggled to pull his shirt off. I took a little peak at his toned chest and stomach, holding in a small squeak. I slapped both of my cheeks. 'Focus.' I nodded to my self and slid the dry shirt back over his head and wrestled his arms into the arm holes.

'Now the pants...'

After a while of building up courage to do so, I changed him into the dry sweatpants and prayed he didn't wake up to me pulling off his pants. I then picked up both of his legs and moved them around so they were on the bed, then pulling the blankets over him. "I will be right back, Todoroki-san." I said as I walked out to get a bowl of water and towel to place on his head.

'3:45'  blinked on the digital clock as I looked at it, finally finished cleaning up in the clinic and had gotten Hachi into one of the open kennels. Curious, I read his mind to see what he was dreaming about. To no surprise, he was thinking about Izuku being with him. I smiled and turned off the light, walking to the main area of the clinic. I quickly drew up a sign to be place in the window. "Sorry for any inconvenience, but we will be closed today due to a late night emergency!" I read out, satisfied, and put it up.

I walked back up the stairs, turning off all the lights on the way. I locked the door to the apartment and sighed, ready for bed. I went back into my room to check on the half and half hero. I took off the towel, placing it back in now lukewarm water, and put my hand on his head. "Still warm..." I checked his temperature with a thermometer while I stepped out to get fresh water. when I came back, I placed the fresh towel on his head and checked it. "105..." I said to myself as I put it back on the night stand.

I turned around to leave again, but something stopped me. A hand on my wrist. I turned back and met his barely open hetero chromatic eyes. "Stay..."
