An Unexpected Invitation

I thought about the invitation that hung a little heavy in the air between the pro-hero and I.

"I don't know... I don't want to intrude. And I won't know any one there." I tried to think of another logical excuse to get out of the social gathering. "Sure you will. Shouto and Izuku will be there. It's also a great opportunity to make some friends." He flashed a grin and shifted Bro from his shoulder to his hands. "And besides, Bro will be there. I feel like that is reason enough to come. "

I let out a small chuckle at the childish, yet convincing, attempt. "I guess it won't hurt to go..." I trailed off a bit, not really sure why I am agreeing to such an absurd thing. "Great, It's tomorrow night, 9'clock sharp." Kirishima smiled.

- (Todoroki POV)

It was strange to be back on my feet after the few days of being a dog. I stretched a little as I made my way back to my house, which felt more like a strangers home than my own.

"I'm home." I mumbled to myself as I slid off my shoes, beelining straight for my bed room. I didn't bother changing into lounge clothes. Even though I hadn't done anything physically demanding, my body was exhausted and sore.

'Ah, my phone. I should charge it...' I thought as I reached over to plug it up to the life delivering cord. Within moments of it powering on, it was like the flood gates were opened. Before I could even look at the sea of notifications, a phone call came through.

Kirishima Ejirou popped up in bold letters. I sighed and accepted the call.

"Hello?"

"What is up, Icy-Hot." He chuckled. "I heard from Katsuki you were in the dog house for a few days." It was obvious he was holding back his laughter.

"Do you need something?" My patience was worn thin by the exhaustion pressing on my eyelids. "Oh come on, that isn't a very manly way to talk to your friend. Your totally amazing friend who picked up your paroles while you were goofing off." Kirishima remarked, I could feel the grin on his face through the phone.

"I wasn't off "goofing around." I was turned into a dog."

"You have no sense of humor. It's amazing (F/n) puts up with you." He paused for a minute. "Oh, that reminds me, I am throwing a party for Katsuki and Izuku for their safe return. Tomorrow at 9, be there."

"No." I said without hesitation. Parties were not how I want to spend the night. "Come onnnn." Kirishima whined. "It's just some people from the Agency, and (F/n) of course." The red head played the ace he was hiding in his sleeve, the real trump card. "I swung by her office with Bro earlier. You scored yourself a real cutie. It would be a shame if she was all alone at the party."

I rolled my eyes. "I said I'm n-" Kirishima cut me off again. "I refuse to take no for an answer, and quite frankly you are acting very unmanly. This is a celebration of your fellow heroes, no, not just heroes, but your fellow friends making a safe-"

"Fine, I will go."

-------------------

So, it's been a hot minute. I guess I should make some sort of excuse for dropping off the face of the interwebs for almost a year? The truth is, 2019 came for my wig, and oh boy did she take it. It's been a wild ride and quite frankly my serotonin is DEPLETED. These last few months have been the Great Depression, if you know what I mean. Anywho, I hope you enjoyed the short chapter. I'm trying to get back into this whole writing thing, sorry if I am a little rusty :)
