Chapter 7 - Stay
NOTES: Hi guys. As I've mentioned in some platforms, I was really busy with an event I organized this October 1st, but now I'm free to write again, and I know it took me longer, but here I am with one more chapter. I know this is a short chapter, but to be fair: it was going to be the last one, but I wanted to write more fluff for our beloved ships before the last chapter, and came up with this ^^ I hope y'all like it.
Enjoy.
Everyone stared at Thea, with a mix of shock and curiosity. She stared at them, cleaning the sweat from her forehead as she adjusted herself on Clark's embrace as he caressed her hair.
- Is Ben Lockwood. He is the Agent of Liberty.
Kara, Nia and Brainy stared at each other, processing the information.
- Of course! – Kara whispered – Of course is him! That nasty son of...Ugh!
- We'll get him! And he will pay for all of his crimes! – Clark said, stil comforting Thea.
- Kara, we need to tell Alex. Maybe now, knowing Ben Lockwood is behind all of this, the DEO can do something. – Nia said, trying to stay positive.
- I don't know if they will want to... Or if they are allowed to, I mean you heard the president...
- We can handle this – Brainy said
- Kara?
Kara turned around and saw Alex running towards her, giving her a tight hug.
- Are you ok?
- Yes, I am – Kara said hugging Alex back – We got them, protected the family, found out where they hid the kidnapped families and... We know who Agent of Liberty is.
- Guys, if you don't mind... I need to get some rest, I'm not feeling that great – Thea said.
- I'll take you home – Clark said, holding her by the waist.
Oliver nodded, looking worried at Thea, but he knew she needed some time. He was aware that her bloodlust got out of control and he knew what it id to Thea every time that happened. He just murmured for Clark to keep an eye on her and nodded as they left. Oliver turned his attention back to Alex and Kara as Kara started to tell Alex everything that happened.
- The DEO is coming here now so you guys better leave. I promise you I'll stop by later and we can talk about what to do...
- Alex, is ok. They would probably try to get us arrested anyways – Kara said
- But well done guys! – Alex smiled – Now go...
Kara, Oliver, Brainy and Nia rushed out of there, back to Kara's place.
- We should be going after Lockwood now! – Nia said
- We need Thea and Clark – Brainy said – I don't know what happened, but I can tell she is not in condition to fight now.
- We also need a plan. We can't go after him blindly – Oliver said – And I think I have one. We act tomorrow! For now, let's just get some rest.
Brainy and Nia said their goodbyes and left, leaving Kara and Oliver alone in Kara's living room.
- Would you stay here with me? – Kara said as she reached for his hand, bringing him closer to her.
- For as long as you want me – He smiled, giving her a soft kiss
Oliver followed Kara to the couch, and sat there with her, cuddling. Kara took a deep breath; closing her eyes and feeling all the tension and fear leave her body. Rao, she needed it, just to stay like this, in Oliver's arms, relaxing and recovering from the tense night they all had.
Oliver noticed the swift in Kara's mood as she rested her head on his chest.
- I hated arguing with you tonight... - He said. – I'm sorry if it seemed like I didn't trust you could handle things, or anything like that
- Me too – She said as she stared at him. – And is ok, I understand. But I'm glad we got to an understandment. Thank you for respecting my choices tonight.
- Always.
- We make a good team. – She smiled – Two badass super heroes protecting the world and taking care of each other. – She teased, making him smile.
- I like the sound of that. – He said.
If anyone told him a few months ago where he would be now, he would say the person went nuts. It was something completely unexpected, but he was glad for it, for sure.
Kara reached for the remote control, turning on the TV as she stared at him with a funny look on her face.
- What? – He asked, knowing that look too well.
- Let's watch musicals and cuddle! – She said excitedly
- Ok... Ok, you win – He laughed – After tonight, I'm happy just being here with you.
- Me too – She said, kissing him again as her hand reached for his cheeks, caressing it.
- I hope Thea is ok... I feel so bad about what happened to her.
- I'm sure she will. And you need to remember that you're doing the best you can for your sister. You brought her back to life...
- Look at what cost...
- Don't think like that. Anyone in your shoes would do the same thing. I know I would. After all of this is over, we can try to help her here on this Earth. The Legion has advanced technology in the future, I'm sure Brainy can help us. J'onn also has great knowledge from Mars, there must be something here we can do to help Thea get rid of this bloodlust.
- Thank you – He said, kissing her forehead – I really appreciate it.
- There's no need to thank me, Oliver. We are a team, remember? Whatever you guys need, just ask, and we will do our best to help.
- Well, same here... Anything.
Kara reached for his waist, hugging him as she turned her head a bit and gave a small peck on his neck, going for his lips. Oliver reached for the back of her neck, kissing her back.
- God, I love you – He whispered between their kiss and Kara deepened it.
- I love you too – She whispered back, as their foreheads touched and they just stared at each other for a few seconds.
Kara's phone rang and she reached for it, noticing there was a new message from Clark. She opened and smiled.
- Clark says Thea is feeling better and is taking a nap.
- Thank God...
- I told you... Everything will be ok.
They kept cuddling on the couch while Wizard of Oz played on TV. It didn't take long for Kara to fell asleep and Oliver smiled, watching her as he caressed her hair.
For the first time in a long time, he felt truly happy.
Thea opened her eyes slowly as she felt Clark's fingers caressing her head. She stared at him, right next to her on her bed, staring at her with worried but loving eyes and she still felt like pinching herself because she couldn't believe someone like him was real. Especially after everything that happened.
- Are you feeling better? – He said as he sat properly, allowing Thea to rest her head on his lap.
- I think so... The bloodlust is gone, but... I still...
Thea couldn't find the right words to express exactly what she was feeling and she thought about the best way to ask what she wanted to ask, because for her, it didn't make sense. Clark's behavior for her didn't make any sense. She lifted her head from his lap, sitting properly by his side, staring deeply into his eyes.
- I need to ask you... How... How can you still want to be with me after what happened?
- What do you mean?
She got up, walking from one side to the other slowly as she spoke.
- I almost killed that guy. I lost control; I let the bloodlust take over... I acted like a monster. And you're still here, keeping me company, worried about me, comforting me... I don't deserve this! I don't understand...
- Hey... Thea – Clark got up, reaching for her hand – You're not a monster.
- I didn't even tell you everything... About me... How do you know?
- I've seen monsters. You're not one – Clark said as he slightly squeezed her hands with his. – Hey, look at me – He whispered, touching her chin and guiding it up. – I can see you've been through a lot, you told me some stuff, and I know there's more... But it's ok. You can tell me when you're ready, and if you don't want to, that's ok too. But with the few things you told me, I can see that you're someone that has been through a lot of pain, trauma and were in the edge of losing hope that things could be better someday. I'm here to hold you when you fall and to remind you that things will be better, to remind you to not lose hope.
Thea heard each of his words in awe. She was so used to crappy relationships and crappy people, it was hard to get used to all Clark offered her. The one relationship she had that was close to being great was with Roy. She knew there was nothing they could do, Roy had to run away, change his name and his entire life to survive and protect Oliver at the same time, and she couldn't just leave everything behind to go with him. She accepted that having someone special in her life wasn't meant to be until she met Clark. She smiled, feeling a few tears coming down her cheeks. Clark's finger wiped it from her cheeks and she closed the space between them, their foreheads touching.
- I... I think I'm ready. – She said, staring deeply into his eyes. – To talk about it. – She said as she hugged him and they stood like that for a while.
Thea sat down on the bed, reaching for Clark's hand, making him follow her. He stood by her side, still holding her hand as she told him everything about her life on Earth 1 and everything that happened in the past few years, with details and stuff she left out before.
- ... I was just tired of being the victim, you know? Slade killed my mom in front of me, I have been kidnapped multiple times, I needed to fight back. I knew it was dangerous and he wasn't the best choice, but at that point I didn't have any other choice, so I went to Malcolm for help. If only I knew...
- There was no way you could've known... You need to stop beating yourself up because it will destroy you, if you're not careful...
- I know... But is hard.
- It is hard. I know. But you learned to fight and defend yourself... That's survival instinct, there's nothing to be ashamed of it.
- Thanks for that – She said – Ollie kept telling me that too... I just... I've done terrible things because of my father. It's hard not to feel bad about it.
- Thea, you know why I told you you're not a monster? Is not just because I really like you... - He smiled, caressing her hand again, making her smile – In life, is pretty easy to be like "not my fault, not my problem" because there's always things happening that are beyond our control, we see that every day in life. The fact that you care, and that you want to make up for things that you have no control over it, shows that you have a good heart, that you're a good person and that you have a sense of justice. Monsters don't feel those things.
- Did you ever go through something like this? – She asked as their fingers intertwined.
- A bunch of times. None were easy. You know how green kryptonite affects me?
- Yes, it can kill you.
- Well, red kryptonite also has an effect on me. It can bring to surface the worst in me. All the bad thoughts and feelings I had in life even if it was just for a second... It happened to Kara once too. In my case, it first happened before I moved to Metropolis and back then, both my parents were alive. The stuff I told them... The things I've done. I still feel bad for it, but with time I understood that first, I had to deal with whatever feelings I had inside. If I was frustrated with something, or not happy about something, I needed to confront those feelings, because bury them was only going to cause more pain sooner or later. And then, I needed to remember that yes, things were out of my control, but I still could held myself accountable and do my best to make amends to everyone I caused any harm. And that's what I did. In your case things are a bit different, I know. But it's something also out of your control, so you can take your time to understand that and not beat yourself over it. And most importantly: accept help.
- Help? What do you mean?
- I mean that this bloodlust of yours is something that can have a definite cure or something, and knowing more about it now, I'm sure we can find a solution for this, once and for all. We have future technology here, I'm sure if there's anyone who can help is the team.
- Of course I'll accept help. – Thea smiled – Thank you. I wasn't sure about opening up about everything because I didn't want people looking at me differently... You looking at me differently.
Clark caressed the contour of her jaw, noticing this wasn't easy for her. He could hear her heart beating faster and how tense she felt just by admitting that.
- There's nothing that would make me look at you any different than I do right now.
- And... how do you see me right now? – Thea asked, nervously.
- I see you as a strong woman with a golden heart, beautiful soul and the most loving eyes I've ever seen. A survivor and a hero, that does anything in her power to protect her loved ones and do good. Someone who has great empathy for others and strong sense of justice, that knows how to raise her head and her voice to fight for others, someone really inspiring and that knows how to kick some ass. Someone sweet and beautiful. Someone who took his breath away the moment she stood up to defend aliens that night, that made me fall in love with her right away.
Thea fought the tears insisting to want to wash over her face as she listened to those sweet words. She had no idea he saw her like that, and it made her heart feel warmer than ever. She blushed and couldn't help but smile, noticing some tears have won the battle. He wiped a few of them with his finger, caressing her cheeks and she just couldn't hold back anymore, even if she wanted to. She reached for the back of his neck, bringing his face closer as she gave him a slow deep kiss, feeling him kissing her back with the same passion. He held her waist as they broke the kiss apart, and opened his eyes, one of his hands caressing her cheeks.
- Are you feeling better?
- Way better – Thea smiled – You have a way with words, let me tell you... - She teased, making him laugh.
- It's getting late... I should let you rest...
Clark was about to get up when Thea held his hand, stopping him.
- No, just... Stay?
Clark stared at Thea as she looked serious at him. She got up and held his hand, making him follow her. They stood facing each other as her hands went to his shoulders.
- I just need you here with me – She whispered
- I'm here for you – He said, closing the space between them and bringing her closer by the waist as their lips found each other once again.
Thea gave a few steps backwards as the back of her leg hit the side of her bed. She held on Clark's collar, sitting on the bed and bringing him with her.
- I just... - Clark said as his body covered hers – I need to warn Kara I'll spend the night...
- Sure... - Thea laughed – Maybe my brother will take the hint...
- Or try to kill me...
- As if he could – Thea laughed.
Clark sent Kara the text and dropped his phone on the side table, still laughing. As soon as he tuned back his attention to Thea, she grabbed him by the shirt, bringing his lips back to hers as she helped him get rid of his shirt. She just stared at him, making him blush.
- What? – He asked
- Nothing... - Thea said as her lips went for his neck, giving him small kisses as her hands went to his back, feeling his muscles contracting against her touch. – You're just way hotter than I imagined
She clearly had no filter anymore, and she didn't care. She felt Clark's laugh against the skin of her neck as his hands holding the edge of her shirt, pulling it up and throwing it away. She closed the space between them once again and felt his soft kisses on her lips, down the base of her neck, giving her chills.
She had imagined this moment a lot, she was unsure before if he ever wanted her like she wanted him, but now she was more than sure. And it was definitely better than anything she ever imagined.
Back on Kara's place, it was the end of the movie already and Kara had waken up, still cuddling with Oliver on the couch. She heard her phone once again and opened the text, with a huge smile on her face. She noticed Oliver's face once she showed him the text she got and tried to hold back laughter as he just nodded with his head, staring at the TV.
- Yep, I'm staying over... - He said, making Kara laugh.
