Chapter 1 - Everything changes
Notes: All stories I write, I do it listening to music and all of them has song titles because those songs has something that connects directly to each story. For this one, I used "In the blink of an eye" from A Teens, if anyone is curious ;)
Enjoy.

Chapter 1 – Everything changes
Kara opened her eyes slowly as she wake up early in the morning, knowing life would be totally different for her from now on, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to face everything she knew that was coming her way. She checked her phone, noticing there was a message from Nia Nal, a new journalist that worked with her at CatCo, and also happened to be an alien with really cool dream powers.
"Are you up? Tell me everything" – Kara read Nia's message and laughed, texting her back.
"Yes, I'm up. ;) Tell you what?"
"About Earth 1. Did you go see the hot archer?"
"Nia!"
"What? He is! Now give me the details..."
"Nia, we're just friends"
"Aham"
"I'm serious"
"I know you are... aham..."
"We'll talk later, I'm hungry"
"You're always hungry! But ok, I can wait... Even if I'm curious... And anxious."
"Later!"
Kara laughed as she got up from her bed, getting ready to face another day. She felt anxious because for the first time in 4 years, since she became Supergirl, she was on her own. No team, no DEO. The president dismissed her after she refused to reveal who she was, so she left the organization and didn't look back. She was always going to have her sister's back, she knew it, but it would be weird to save the world by herself. She made sure she helped Alex from time to time, without other people knowing, because she refused to not get involved when people's lives were in danger, but it still wasn't the same anymore. And to make things even worse, she had that Lockwood guy, the Agent of Liberty and his followers to deal with. She tried her best to use her job and also her heart to face this threat, because it wasn't a monster or a dangerous alien. It was a human threat, a menacing human threat that was leading others to follow his footsteps of hate and violence.
After she ate her breakfast and prepared to go out and do her job as Supergirl for the day, she checked her phone again and noticed a new message. This time, it was from him. She smiled.
"Sorry I didn't see your text last night, we spend hours dealing with that FBI problem, I was so tired I fell on my bed and just woke up. But everything's ok now, thanks to your help and Clark's."
"You're welcome =) The FBI is still after you?"
"Yes. I can't go out as GA anymore."
"I still can't believe they arrested you after all the good things you did for your city, is so unfair"
"They still see me as a killer."
"But you're not anymore...You're a hero"
"Thank you, Kara, but is the way things are. I'm tired."
Kara kept staring at her phone as her mind went far away. After Barry's wedding, Cisco created a technology that made it possible for everyone to be able to communicate across the multiverse, because they could get trapped on another Earth and almost die again, so it made things easier to get help and get in touch. Since then, Kara and Oliver have been sharing messages, sometimes sharing about their day or something they were going through, or just to say hello and it slowly brought them closer with time. After their latest adventure with the Elseworlds situation, the messaging became more constant between them
"Are you still there?" – he texted her
"I was thinking about what you said. It must be tiring to live like this after everything you've been through."
"Yes, it is"
"You told me Diggle was covering for you as the Green Arrow for a while, right?"
"Yes. Why?"
"You should come here... I mean, to my Earth, just for a while. You seem like you need a break from it all. I also could use your help."
"The Lockwood douche?"
"Yes. You know I'm working just with Nia and sometimes Clark helps, I'm out of the DEO, and this new threat is human, but he is dangerous. The president is keeping an eye on me so I don't get involved with the DEO and as much as I try to help Alex, things have been really hard."
"When can I come?"
Kara smiled. She knew she could count on him.
"When you want to" – she answered him and smiled when he texted her back
"I'll be there tomorrow night"
It was unexpected the way she got closer to Oliver, after they shared their traumas after Felicity dumped Oliver on Barry's wedding and Kara just had seen Mon El kissing another woman, telling her she was his wife. Nia caught her distracted, talking to him on the phone after that and since then, she kept asking Kara about him and if she liked him and things like that and Kara kept avoiding it because she had no idea what to tell her.
FLASHBACK
Kara was alone in the second floor of Jitters, watching everyone laughing, drinking and having fun at Iris and Barry's rehearsal dinner and thinking about the scene she was the other night, after finding out Mon El was alive and she had hopes things would be back to the way they used to be, he kept acting weird around her just to kiss another woman in front of her and she learned he was now married. Her world fell apart and all she wanted to do was to get away for a while. And here she was, at one of her best friend's happy day, feeling miserable. She noticed someone approaching, and turned around just to see Oliver Queen approaching her with two glasses of champagne on his hands. He offered her one and they toasted.
- I don't know what we're toasting but... Cheers! – Kara said as she lifted her glass.
- I just saw you here, looking a bit sad and well... I got dumped by Felicity last week, so I thought: let's be sad together.
- I'm sorry about that... What happened?
- I proposed. She said no. End of story
- Well, I just saw my ex, that I had to send away through space cause the air of my Earth became poisonous to him and could kill him, coming back from the future and when I thought we were going to finally be happy, he kissed another woman in front of me and told me they're married...
- Ok, you win – Oliver turned to Kara – This guy is an idiot, I hope you know that.
Kara lowered her head, adjusting her glasses on her face and looked back at Oliver.
- Yes, let's be sad together...– She drank a sip of the champagne
- Do you want to go for a walk? – Oliver looked down the first floor seeing everyone hugging each other, and he could swear Alex and Sara were kissing outside.
- Let's go, some fresh air will do us some good – She said, following him downstairs and leaving the glass of champagne on a table.
As soon as they got out, Alex and Sara were gone, Oliver noticed. He raised an eyebrow and Kara noticed it.
- Did something happen?
- I could swear I saw something... Never mind.
Kara unconsciously held Oliver's arm as they walked slowly down the street, talking about their lives and sharing traumatic experiences. They reached the town square and found a bench to sit. Kara felt something different that night, like some sort of comfort as she talked to Oliver about her most traumatic day, the day her planet exploded. Oliver heard each word and couldn't even imagine the pain Kara went through, watching her planet exploding, being alone in space, getting stuck in a place, sleeping for so many years, just to land on a strange planet, discovering having powers at such young age... He was admired by her inner strength and the fact that she was always so positive, inspiring and helping people, even after everything she'd been through. He knew he could never do that.
- How do you do it? Stay so positive, so full of hope? – Oliver asked a genuine question, he really wanted to know how, because on his mind, it was impossible. He had been there and all he felt was pain, darkness and he sure didn't trust people that easy.
- Because I have to believe everything will be ok, and things will work out, and people aren't as bad as they seem to be. If I don't believe that, I have nothing and I can't inspire anyone. When we help people, we inspire them to be better, do better and hope for the best. How can we do that if we don't believe it ourselves? Is not easy, I have my moments... But in the end, hope is all I have.
- This is admirable. – He told her - I wish I cold see the world like that.
- Don't give up – Kara said, noticing the sad look on his face – I talk from experience. Even if things are hard and seem impossible, don't give up.
END OF FLASHBACK
She felt a bit of excitement with the fact that he liked her idea and was going to spend some time on her Earth, helping her. She knew that after everything he'd been through, even she didn't approve all of his methods, he was the perfect person to help her with the current big bad, he was a vigilante used to see bad things and deal with them. She got another text, from Clark this time and she just remembered her cousin was staying with her for a while. She rushed to text Oliver back.
"I forgot to mention, Clark is staying with me for a while. After he broke up with Lois, he wanted to spend more time with family, so it's a bit crowded..."
"It's ok, I have a place there"
"Do you? When that happened?" – Kara stared surprised at her phone
"The last time we teamed up, I bought an apartment there just to make things easier if I ever needed to spend time on your Earth."
"You bought an apartment here? Wow...That's cool"
"Is around your block by the way. I gotta go now, see you tomorrow night"
That was a surprise and she wasn't expecting for it at all, but in the end, things would work just fine. There was a knock on the door and she opened, seeing Clark with a backpack on his hand. She smiled and welcomed him inside, closing the door behind him.
- Is nice to have you here! – She said, hugging him
- Is nice to be back – Clark hugged her back – And thank you for having me for a while, things have been hard.
- I'm always here for you. That's what family's for. So, how are you?
- I'm getting better. It has been weeks since she left, but I'll be ok. It happens...
- Tell me about it. Is an epidemic of broken hearts everywhere... - She said as she grabbed her favorite orange juice from her fridge. She offered a glass to Clark and took a sip from her glass.
- What do you mean?
- Oliver is coming to stay in National city for a while... He even bought an apartment here.
- Really? – Clark looked surprised – Is everything ok with him?
- The FBI of his Earth is giving him a hard time, he can't be the Green Arrow there and is really messy. So, I asked him if he could come and help us... With Lockwood.
- Are you sure? Oliver is really nice but...
- I know what you'll say; he has strong methods to deal with things... But we're dealing with an evil human. I won't say I'm a fan of the way he does things, he knows it but... He's our best chance to bring Lockwood to justice. Guardian is still new and Oliver has been through a lot and have been a vigilante for years now, he is a Bratva captain for Rao's sake.
- Bratva? The Russian mob? They have it there? – Clark looked startled at Kara.
- Yes.
- Well, if you trust he can help us, I trust you.
- I'm not DEO anymore, so... Maybe the three of us can team up – Kara smiled, excited with the idea of having a temporary parallel team to protect the city.
- I'm in. – Clark said, smiling back
The next night, Kara and Clark waited for Oliver to arrive and it didn't take long until the smoky blue wormhole opened up and he stepped in, with his sister Thea.
- Hi! – Kara smiled excitedly as she hugged Thea – It's been so long, how are you?
- I'm fine, and you? I missed you – Thea hugged Kara back
- Dealing with stuff as usual, nothing I can't handle.
- Being the badass you are – Thea smiled, making Kara laugh.
- I hope is ok, Thea decided to come with me. – Oliver said
- I wasn't feeling ok back in Star City, I needed a break, my brother told me he was coming here to help you and spend some time and I volunteered.
- Is more than ok – Kara smiled and turned to Clark – This is my cousin, Clark. He's staying with me for a while.
- Nice to meet you, Superman – Thea said as she reached for his hand.
- Nice to meet you, Thea – Clark smiled as he shook her hand. – So... You're also a super hero?
- Kind of... I don't know if hero is the right word...
- Of course it is, Thea – Kara said – You are a hero, just like your stubborn brother. – She smiled, teasing Oliver, making him smile. – What? Another smile? Is this becoming a thing? – She laughed.
- Like I've said before, I like you guys... Just don't tell the others.
- Ok, so I'm a hero – Thea said. – You can call me Speedy.
- Speedy? Interesting name – Clark said.
- Well, I tried Red Arrow, but no one liked my idea, so...
- Thea, you'll always be Speedy, you know it, just accept it – Oliver teased as Kara invited them all to eat pizza.
Kara told them about the situation in National City, with the Agent of Liberty and his followers and how they were having a hard time dealing with him and how the president demanded her to tell them who she was and how she had to leave the DEO.
- I mean, I'm kinda ok with that because I felt like an employee that had always to report to someone... I'll miss working with my sister, but I remembered Clark works alone and never responded to any government agency so things would be ok. And now he's here, and you guys are here... And there's Nia, you met her the last time you visited – Kara looked at Oliver as he nodded with his head – I thought we could team up for a while.
- I told her I'm in. I'm staying here for a while too.
- I'm so in. – Thea said excitedly
- I thought you retired... - Oliver looked confused at her
- On our Earth. Here is another story – She smiled, noticing a tiny smile on Clark's lips. – I like new challenges and adventures. So yes, count me in!
- Yes! – Kara cheered and looked at Oliver.
- You know my answer – He smiled, giving her a knowing look and she blushed.
Thea also noticed that but kept quiet, just wondering if something ever happened between her brother and Kara. If didn't, it wouldn't take long, she knew it. Her brother wasn't known for being subtle when he was into someone, even if he denied and refused to admit anything.
- And how about you? How did you get into this life? – Clark said, staring curiously at Thea, noticing she hesitated before answering.
- I don't know if this is a good story for the night...
- It's ok – Kara said as she stared at Thea – We all have our struggles but that's what makes us stronger.
Thea told them about how she found out her father was Malcolm Merlyn and how he trained her, with all his knowledge from the League of Assassins, how he used her to kill Sara and everything he did to cause her death, her resurrection, and how she joined the team ad helped them for a while until she had enough of the violence and darkness from her city.
- I'm sorry you went through all of that – Clark said.
- It's like Kara said, our struggles makes us stronger. I'm definitely not the same Thea my brother saw when he came back from the island.
They spent a few hours talking and sharing stories, until it was really late and Oliver couldn't wait to take a shower and get some sleep, he was really tired.
- We'll stop here tomorrow so we can catch up with everything you have on this guy and his followers and we start working from there – Oliver said, getting up and giving Kara a hug. Clark shook his hand and hugged Thea goodbye.
- Thank you again for helping us, it means a lot – Kara said as she hugged Thea
- I'm happy to be here – Thea said, hugging Kara back. She held her for a few seconds and whispered to Kara – your cousin is cute by the way.
Kara laughed as she let go and waved them goodbye, opening the door for them to leave. As soon as she closed the door, still laughing, she stared at Clark.
- You heard that, right?
- Me? I didn't hear a thing... - He looked innocently at her and turned around to help her clean everything before going to sleep.
On the corridor, as Thea and Oliver waited for the elevator, Thea playfully slapped Oliver's shoulder.
- Why didn't you tell me her cousin was hot?
- Speedy! – Oliver stared annoyed at her. He just couldn't believe her right now.
- Never mind – Thea laughed as Oliver shook his head. – Let's go to our new home.
Clark walked to the guest bedroom with a smile on his face, one that Kara didn't notice.
