After accidentally setting her high school's radio club on fire right before spring break, Emma and her family are forced to move from California to Hawkins, where a current scientific investigation group seem to be the only ones who can help her with her special conditon, but mostly give her answers.

Hawkins wasn't just another town, anyone who walked its streets after Will Byers disappeared could swear that. But most people preferred to ignore the strange details that set Hawkins apart, choosing to live their lives blissfully unaware. Emma, however, couldn't ignore them. It was difficult when everytime she walked by the forest her heart raised and almost vanished memories flashed in her head. She knew something was hapenning there, something conected to the lab, connected to the disappearances, connected to her powers. But she wasn't prepared for what was actually coming.

No, Emma didn't expect to be saddled with the responsibility of babysitting a group of kids, her younger sister included, alongside the most frustrating person she'd ever met: Steve Harrington, Hawkins High's so-called "King" and, unfortunately, her chemistry lab partner's boyfriend. But worse yet, her task wasn't just to keep an eye on them-it was to protect them from a creature from another dimension that one of the kids had been hiding as a pet.
