Chapter 2: A Good Samaritan.
Chapter 2: A Good Samaritan.
I Woke up with my head throbbing like I had ran into a wall and then stumbled on to the road only to be get hit up a truck, looking down I saw that all of my limbs were still intact so there goes the getting hit by a truck theory leaving me with another more likely option. I must have sculled that whole bottle of wine that was in my fridge.
I looked around expecting to see my white walls and fluffy pillows but the only thing I saw was… nature. Did I pass out in the park or something? There were trees everywhere, not the park then. I lived in the city, there were no forests or woods within like a four hour drive. Where the hell was I?
“Oh good your awake, I was getting sick of carrying you, you’re not as light as you look you know” the voice came from behind me. I spun my head around and stared blankly at the face before me. His dark hair and black eyes sent my memory spiralling. The images of him in the parking lot flooded my memory and I instantly became alert.
I curled up into a ball as if I could protect myself from him. There was no pepper spray and by the looks of his thick arms and built body, he could over power me in split second.
“First you kidnap me and then you call me fat, what kind of psycho are you?!”
He froze and looked over to me.
“I didn’t call you fat I said your heavy learn to listen and comprehend”
“I did listen you said I was heavy!”
“So then it’s your comprehension that’s the problem then.”
I gawked at him. Oh how I wish a car would just come out of nowhere and kill him.
“Get up we have a long way to go” he said pulling a bag on his shoulder and started walking off without me.
Why the hell would I follow the guy who kidnapped me? Was he that delusional to think I would actually follow him? What an idiot.
He reappeared in the trees; his footsteps were almost non excitant. He reached down and threw me over his shoulder kicking and screaming. I hit his back like a drum screaming my head off for him to put me down.
He threw me down as if I was a bag stuffed with clothes and I landed on a rock.
“That hurt you jackass!”
“Then next time, do what you’re told and follow”
“What do you think I am a dog?”
“No a dog would be more obedient, now hurry up I don’t have all day!”
Narrowing my eyes at him I got to my feet and followed behind him. We were surrounded by nothing but trees, how did he know which way to go?
I tried to look passed him to see if he had a compass or something when I felt something rough coiled with my face.
“Ouch my nose!” I held my bleeding nose praying it wasn’t broken.
He came up beside me gripping my chin and tilting my head as he examined my nose.
“It’s fine stop now complaining and watch were you’re going”
“I was watching”
“So what the tree moved all on its own did it?”
“Maybe” I muttered under my breath carefully watching where I placed each foot.
I stared at his back watching him duck and weave to avoid the trees and bushes. He really was quite good looking if you ignored the attitude and his habit of abducting women. I had no idea where I was and my only company was my kidnapper, what exactly was I supposed to do but follow him and make him wish he had left me where I was and pick some other helpless girl.
“Will you keep up, if we keep going at this rate we will never get there on time?!” he yelled over his shoulder. He really did have a magnificent side profile, who knew that could be so good looking.
“I have a name you know”
“And I’m sure you think it’s beautiful now hurry up” I really didn’t like my name, I had always wanted something a little more unique.
“It’s Britney” I told him stepping over an extremely large twig or was it a small log? Was there even a difference?
“I don’t care”
“What’s yours?”
“Do you ever stop talking?” I smiled knowing I was getting on his nerves.
“Not really, no”
He shook his head and clenched his fists together, I knew he was trying to ignore me and hold in his anger but he was doing a very bad job at it.
“Are you going to answer me or do I have to keep asking?”
He stopped suddenly making me slam into his back and almost lose my footing.
“I told you to stop talking”
“No you said do you, it was a question”
“A rhetorical one”
“But a question none the less”
He turned back around and started walking off in the direction we were originally headed in. I couldn’t help but be proud of how much I was getting under his skin.
“So what is your name?” I asked again partly because I was curious but mainly just to piss him off.
“Why do you care?”
“I have a right to know the name of my captor.”
He sighed heavily “It’s Logan, now shut up.”
“See that wasn’t so hard was it?” I said using the same voice I use when talking to a small child.
He ignored me and continued to walk. I stayed quiet for a while following him blindly as we walked through the woods. We had been walking for hours and my lack of fitness was starting to become a problem. I was puffing slightly out of breath and my feet absolutely killed in my flats. How do people do this?
“Can we take a break?” I asked slowing down.
“No.”
“But my feet hurt!”
“I don’t care.” Well you should. I was tempted to just chuck a tantrum like a three year old in the shopping centre but I am sure he would just throw me over his shoulder again and that didn’t sound too appealing to me.
I heard the distant rev of cars coming from my right. Cars, that means people, people means help. I need to get to these people. I let Logan get a small distance ahead of me before I slowly crept away. I ran trying not to be too loud headed for the sound of the cars. If I could just make it to a main road then someone could help me.
I found the break in the trees that lead out onto a freeway a car was off in the distance. I looked on either side hoping to see another car coming but wasn’t that lucky, Damn it, I was so close!
I could hear him coming for me and panicked again. I needed to get away from this psycho. I ran up the road as fast as my legs could carry me, I saw a car coming towards me and waved my hands calling out help.
“Please stop! Help!”
The car came to a stop on the road and a middle aged man got out of the car.
“Are you alright Miss?”
“A guy, he kidnaped me, you have to help me. He’s coming”
“Alright calm down, get in the car”
I didn’t think too much as I threw open the door and climbed into the seat. The guy climbed into the driver’s seat and went to close the door when a hand stopped it from shutting; I followed the arm back up to Logan who was staring at me with enough anger to fuel a rocket.
He craned open the door and grabbed the guy by the scruff pulling him out of the car he slammed him on to the front bonnet leaving a dint in the hood.
I scrambled out of the car running to his side trying to stop him from chocking the guy.
“Stop it, it wasn’t his fault let him go!” I screamed trying to yank his hand off of the man’s neck. He was chocking him, the man’s face started to pale and it was clear he didn’t have much oxygen left.
“Stop, I’ll go with you I swear just let him go!”
He loosened his grip on the man’s neck before turning to me.
“You promise not to run off again”
“Yes, just let him go!” I couldn’t let some poor innocent guy die just for being nice and trying to help me.
He let his chock hold on the man go and lifted his head up. I watched as his eyes shone black and the man was caught up in awe as he stared hopelessly in to Logan’s eyes. Logan let go of him completely but the man didn’t move, it was like he was stuck, completely hypnotized.
“You will get back in the car and keep driving, you will forget everything you saw or heard in the past ten minutes” Logan said his voice was calm and smooth like a melody.
As if in a trance the man did exactly what Logan had told him getting in the car without question and ignoring the both of us as if we were totally invisible. I watched him in absolute astonishment. How could he just ignore us like that? What the hell did Logan do to him?
I Looked over and watched as Logan started walking away from me and back towards the trees. I don’t know how I missed it before, it was like it was written in his eyes; he wasn’t who I thought he was, he wasn’t human, he couldn’t be. But that didn’t make sense, of course he was human he looked normal.
I ran after him watching the car drive away as if it represented everything I had ever believed about life, it was like watching the car drive away with society and the better part of my sanity. I was on the verge of the insane but I didn’t have a choice, I promised I wouldn’t run and I couldn’t take that back now.
I followed him in silence, keeping a close distance behind him. I opened and close my mouth like a fish wondering how and what to say, I wanted answers but was he willing to give them to me? Well only one way to find out.
“What did you do to that man?”
“Nothing”
“Liar” I muttered.
He spun around surprising me and making me almost fall backwards. “I am many things but I am not a liar” he was right in my face now. I saw his eyes black as the night sky staring into me. It was like they hypnotized you. I shook my head slightly clearing it and looked at him.
“Then tell me what happened”
He looked at me scrunching up his brow like he was deeply confused.
“What?”
“It doesn’t work on you”
“What Doesn’t?”
“The compulsion”
“Stop talking in riddles please” I begged needing some clear answers to stop my mind from jumping to all other kinds of conclusions.
“As you’ve noticed I’m not exactly human”
“I’ve got that one”
“I can compel people, well more like make suggestions”
“And that’s what you did to that man?”
He nodded his head yes watching me closely.
“And it doesn’t work on me?”
He shook his head no.
“Why?”
“I don’t know” He said turning around and walking off on me once again. Shit! Rolling my eyes I sighed and started running after him trying to catch up. Why did tall people have to walk to so fast?
“My feet still hurt you know!”
“And I still don’t care!”
It was going to be a very long day.
So how are you liking Logan? A little mysterious maybe. Please Vote and Comment I'd love to hear some feedback.
