CHAPTER 40: DO IT LIKE A JEDI

Three days and nights had passed and Xián Leng and the rest still, remained locked down. They all had tried to break the seal to their cell, without any success whatsoever. The blue and silver flairs on the bars and the lock refracted any magical technique used against it, making the other party suffer from their own blows. All of them except for Xián Leng restrained themselves to continue their tries due to the injuries that resulted from it. Xián Leng on the other hand, wasn't giving up and even with swollen bruises and sore limbs, he continued hitting with everything he got against the closed gates to their confinement.

DuZHi sighed and raised his arms over his head.

- How long do we have to do whatever you guys have been doing before dragging me to accompany you against my will? We've been here what?! THREE DAYS?!

Jiti,

- CAW! CAW! Good question... Hey Hei Bao, how long do we have to get all the charms of the Wise Spirits?

Hei Bao lowered his eyes in thought.

- I don't know... Only Miss Pamella knows... All we can do is wait until she comes back let's pray, with the good news of getting us out of here.

Xián Leng grunted, landing another blow on the bars with his Qi powered sword and getting hit by a gust of energy, that made him fly back and land painfully on his back.

- There must be another way to get out of here... Ugh! Ow... We need to go save her.

DuZhi still lost as why the change of gender to female when referring to the human matchstick, but not going to dwell on it, commented,

- Why worry about that guy when, correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't HE alright and happily getting MARRIED to that other turtle guy Queen? In my opinion, he is in a better situation than us. That's just my opinion again, though...

Hei Bao, Jiti and Xián Leng glared at him, making the poor devil feel goosebumps and avert their menacing glances.

Xián Leng, straightening up and dusting off his black robes, gave a serious look to DuZhi.

- You're wrong, she doesn't want to get married. Does any of you remember when the crazy turtle bastard say they were getting married?

They all moved their heads in negation.

If he wasn't wrong, the turtle "Queen", never specified when the supposed wedding was going to take place. He didn't specify anything they could grasp unto to be exact and he couldn't connect with Pamella's mind this past three days in any way. Their mind connection was not something they could easily control and make work when they wanted to and that made things more complicated when circumstances were like their present ones.

Xián Leng sighed slumped down in a corner of their confinements.

Hei Bao glanced at him and in a neutral tone, but with a slight of worry asked,

- So, what now?

Just as he asked the question, the only door to the dark space where they were locked up, bolted open, followed by whorping sounds and a youthful male laugh. Their eyes widened as soon as they saw who it was that was making the only human sound. Pamella stepped inside the dark room accompanied by three of the zhuru. Judging by Pamella's grinning face and red glowing eyes, and the zhurus', respectably, the group concluded that the fish were hypnotized.

Jiti murmured,

- Since when can she hypnotize people? Also, I don't remember her Qi being reddish... Wasn't it like a golden color?

Hei Bao nodded in agreement and similar surprise, while Xián Leng stood up and walked near the cell's bars, being careful not to be blown back if accidently touching them. He lowly said,

- Pamella...?

After throwing another laugh and patting the three zhuru's shoulders she ordered.

- Now, you three, stand outside and look around for any nosy people that would like to peek inside. Got it?

In unison,

- WHORP!

The zhuru marched outside and closed the door without any sound of it being locked following.

Xián Leng repeated stepping a little bit closer to the bars and filling the force of energy hovering over his skin.

- Pamella...? What...

As she turned to look at her teammates, her eyes still carried that red shine. DuZhi noticed, that they were the same color as his Lord Xián Leng. Just like that, Pamella blinked their glow away, returning to their normal dark brownish color. She quickly ran but stumbled on her long robes and almost fell to the ground. She cursed and raised the skirt lengths up with her hands and ran to the front of the bars to the locked door of the cell. She took out from her bag that hung at her side the ink brush that had been gifted to her by Empress He at the Royal Peony Festival, and with a slashing of ink over the seals, culprits of the energy flares over the bars, their effectiveness was disrupted and they disappeared along with the burning out of the seals that followed after being stained. DuZhi was the first one to come near the locked door.

- Excuse me for a moment.

He ushered Xián Leng to move aside and back, and to Pamella to step away from in front of them. With a swift movement of his black glowing hands, he punched the door, blasting it as it crushed against some old mucky water filled barrels. He clapped his hands, as if ridding them from any dirt which obviously, comparing them to the rest of his filthy body, didn't.
Pamella wrapped the still wet brush on a piece of cloth and slotted it in the bag. She directed to the still shocked people in front of her with a wide grin and hand on her waist.

- Did you guys see that?! Like... I feel like so cool and badass right now! I didn't even know I could do the same mental control Obi-Wan Kenobi did to the clones in episode IV of Star Wars! The only thing left was for me to have a light saber and...?!

Xián Leng went towards her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to his chest.

Pamella's hands laid suspended on air as she processed his actions and slowly lowered them to rest on his back. She closed her eyes, having missed the man's touch and smell. Well, not the present kind of smell, because he sure needed a bath and she could've guessed the rest of them were in the same conditions. It had been three days, and she couldn't blame them for smelling like street wet dogs, so she hugged as much as she could, sacrificing her sense of smell just this once at least.

Once released from the everlasting embrace, Hei Bao asked curious to how wasn't she blown away like the rest of them when touching the seals and bars. Pamella,

- Oh! About that, one thing I got that turtle "Queen "to spill this past three days was how to break the seals. The seals don't react to unmagical and unanimated objects, so I figured, if I used the simple brush and ink, without flowing my Qi to it, then the seals wouldn't recognize there was anything trying to disrupt them. Isn't that stupidly amazingly simple?!

Hei Bao just was so overwhelmed he had to hug the smiling boy in front of him. If they had been surprised when Xián Leng had taken Pamella into his arms before, they were taken aback by Hei Bao's out of the blue hug. Pamella's whole body got buried in the big cat's fluffy unkempt hair. His smell was stronger than Xián Leng's of course which made Pamella's eyes sting, but she was also happy they all were reunited after being apart such a long time.

Xián Leng coughed and cleared his voice, obviously but ignorant to Pamella, sounding displeased at the spectacle going on in front of him.

Hei Bao slowly pulled away from her and stepped back without a word, but as happy and satisfied as his wiggling tail permitted him to show. Jiti flew and landed on Pamella's shoulder, brushing his feathery head to her soft feeling face. He commented,

- CAW! Well you sure smell better than those three over there. What fragrance is that? Begonias?

Xián Leng and Hei Bao exclaimed undignified.

- HEY!

Jiti and her laughed at their exclamations and offended remarks. DuZhi rolled his eyes and pointed out,

- OK! I know we are all happy to see each other but... I don't know if you remember, we have to get out of here before that damned Wise Spirit knows this human matchstick has abandoned his nest.

Pamella laughed again, seeming a little to joyful to their circumstances.

- Don't worry about that. He is asleep. And would be so for at least forty-eight hours or so.

Xián Leng arched one of his brows questionably.

Pamella grinned at them.

- I waited for his Royal Highness to be so fond of me, as to let me prepare tea for him. Some of the plants they grow here have anesthetic effects as potent as to making one sleep for hours on end.

DuZhi,

- Anes...Asentic... Huh..?!

Pamella grinned with both thumbs up.

- In one of the detours, the "Queen" gave me, I snatched some of them and waited just the right moment to use them for my benefits. That's how I got away in the middle of the night and am here finally with you guys! Am I not great?!

They all looked at her very surprised. Pamella could speak and do nonsense most of the time, but she was some amazing person to behold. She knew stuff none of them did and made that mind of hers work faster than any person they've ever known. Truly admirable.

Pamella clapped her hands together and grabbed Xián Leng and Hei Bao's hands.

- Well then! Let's get outta' here!

Suddenly, Xián Leng stopped and asked,

- Wait! What about the golden turtle charm? We didn't...

Pamella stuck one of her hands in her bag and pulled out a golden piece of jewelry.

- You didn't, but I did. TADA~

Xián Leng's wide eyes slowly softened and a fond sweet smile, that none of them had seen and made DuZhi vomit blood, appeared on him. He whispered,

- You are... You are...

But the words remained lingering inside of his mind, never coming out for Pamella to have ears to.

You are amazing, you take my breath away...

As they directed themselves to the door out of the dark room, Pamella recalled something DuZhi had mentioned before and smirking lowered herself next to his small figure.

- "...I know we are all happy to see each other..." Hmmm... So YOU are also very happy to see me safe and sound DuZhi?

DuZhi wanted to punch the hell out of the guy. He answered without giving eye contact and creaking open the door to the outside.

- I... I didn't mean me. I meant the other idiots. Not me. So, stop pestering me and...?!

Pamella ruffled his hair and hugged him tight. She squealed.

- Awww~ I missed my little devil baby to~ SO CUTE!

DuZhi's face contorted into an expression between disgust and hidden happiness.

- EW! DISGUSTING! GET AWAY FROM ME YOU CREEP!

In the Turtle Queen's bedchamber, his Royal Highness, missed out on our little devil's screech of outmost horror as he drifted lower and lower into a dream of his "not ever going to happen" wedding day.
