CHAPTER 37: Zhūrú yú, Zhūrú ME

Pamella stared with a serious look at DuZhi, who was hanging at a top pole over her; hands and feet knotted together with some kind, of magic glowing rope. She looked at herself, that was no different and then glanced over the zhuru, who carried each pole's side. The fish like creatures pointed heads made them like those things of alien only that the protrusion vertically erected itself from their cranium. Their googly eyes bounced inside their sockets and made one wonder if they could see. The fish looked more like walking puppets, more than living things.

How did we end up like this again? Ah! That's right...

*FLASHBACK*

DuZhi came up to the group with a bucket of freshly caught odd looking fish.

- Look what I, the grand DuZhi, caught! Breakfast!

He placed the bucket down and Pamella looked at it in slight disgust. The other two salivated over its content and applauded DuZhi for catching the day's first meal. Hei Bao lifted a hand to stop DuZhi from piercing another fish with a stick through the mouth, and out its tail.

- DuZhi... Which lake did you fish these...? They don't look like normal fish...

Xián Leng affirmed with,

- Yeah... I remember Hei Bao telling you there were two lakes; the one on the right and...

Hei Bao,

- The one on the left...

DuZhi exclaimed as he stuck the third stick into the poor fish. Pamella winced at the sight of its blood dripping unto the dirt.

- I went to the right one! Stop worrying~ Now, let's put these to cook!

Hei Bao doubted for a second and asked again.

- You went to the one at the right, the Báirìmèng Hú...?

DuZhi thought for a moment and nodded energetically. Pamella felt uneasy with the little devil's momentaneous doubt. She touched Xian Leng's arm and murmured,

- I can't eat any of these, would you find me some nuts or berries. You're good at finding them better than me...

Her stomach grumbled and Xian Leng chuckled as he stood up and excused himself.

Some moments later, the fish had cooked through and the two with her ate their part of the share, though, there was still no sign of Xian Leng and Pamella's stomach was making some noise again. DuZhi glanced at her and offered her one of the already cooked fish.

- You should stop being picky about food and eat. Not everything in the World can work your way you know.

She frowned at him and answered between her teeth,

- No... Thank you DuZhi... I'm good...

DuZhi rolled his eyes and shrugged, taking down the whole fish in one gulp. Suddenly, there was a whistling sound, as if air was been cut through by something. Pamella massaged her ear and Hei Bao looked up. His eyes shot open as he pushed Pamella and DuZhi to each side.

- WATCH OUT!

There was a loud booming sound and a giant lift of dirt. Xian Leng's ears twitched at the sound and as he flew jumped up the tree canopies, he saw the giant cloud of debris that formed over the site of camp. He anxiously put the berries and nuts he found, in his pouch and in a blink of an eye ran across the forest as fast as he could towards camp.

When he arrived, most of the cloud had dissipated. He moved his head from side to side frantically looking for everyone, but no one could be seen. He gave some steps forwards until he tripped on something and as he looked to what it was, it was an unconscious Hei Bao. He checked if he was still alive and after getting a pulse, he scanned the area for DuZhi and Pamella. Taking HeiBao over his shoulders, he accommodated themselves under a tree and he tried to make him fully awake by giving him some of his Qi.

Hei Bao coughed and massaged the back of his head. It still hurt after the blow he received in the earlier battle. Xian Leng asked anxiously,

- Hei Bao, where are they?!

Hei Bao coughed again and squinted his eyes.

- Those fish are long gone... How long have I been knocked out...? Is Miss Pamella ok?

Xian Leng inquired again. This time his voice transmitting his obvious worry and dread.

- I meant them; DuZhi! Pamella! Where are they?! Wait, you said fish...?

Hei Bao's eyes looked with some difficulty their surroundings and murmured under his breath,

- Oh no...

*END OF FLASHBACK AND BACK TO OUR FRIENDS SWINGING ON THE POLES*

DuZhi grimaced and turned as much as his present position let him, under him, towards the glaring Pamella.

- Would you stop glaring at me! I said I was sorry!

Pamella answered with a sour tone,

- I heard you DuZhi, but "SORRY" won't make us get out of this trouble!

He knew that, and felt even worse, because of a mortal telling him so. If only he had his hands free, he could have easily gotten themselves out of this situation, but he was all tied up.

Pamella dodged a rock that was going to hit her on the head. She listened intently to what the dwarf fish were talking about.

- Worp, worp worp.

- Worp! Worp, worp, worp!

- Hworp, hworp, hworp~

Was that supposed to be a laugh just now?! I can't understand a thing they are saying! I hope Xián Leng and Hei Bao come fast to get us... At least, it didn't occur to these fish guys, to pierce us through the mouth and out our ass like the fish DuZhi ate...

Pamella trembled as she imagined the horrid sight of being impaled, like a pig on Christmas's Eve.

They came into a stop, and as four of the fish lifted their blue jeweled necklace over a crystal-clear gate, it glowed, and a giant silver door materialized. DuZhi and Pamella, looked at it impressed. The dwarf fish started to walk forward, their "worping" sound becoming more prevalent. They walked through a long sapphire rocked tunnel and at the end, Pamella and DuZhi got soaked as they passed under a majestic waterfall. They feasted their eyes at the glowing precious rocks from different colors that decorated the mountains, bushes and trees. The place was a beautiful hidden gem; full of riches and overflowing with spiritual power.

Everything was gorgeous and clean, except the water under the bridge they passed through, and that connected to the palace at the end. The water was soot black and carried the smell of metals, acid and sulfur. Some explosion sounds could be heard at a remote area, releasing a gust of wind that almost threw them over, into the contaminated waters. Some of the fish, had stumbled and fell, disintegrating in no more than a second. The rest kept on walking as if nothing had happened and showing little if no emotions for their fallen "comrades".

They crossed another set of giant sapphire doors that led to a giant oval adorned with rhinestones, throne, or so Pamella thought. As the supposed "throne" turned to look at its guest, it turned out to be a beautiful woman and the "throne" was the woman's shell.

Just like a turtle...Unbelievable!

The turtle woman bowed and spoke in a silk like voice.

- Hello fellow murderers, and welcome to Shuǐzuàn Kingdom. I'll be authorizing your execution this day in the name of the fallen brothers and sisters of the Zhūrú Yú tribe. We'll start with the devil, opening its stomach and recollecting the victim's parts from him. Then we'll follow up with the pretty boy who permitted such monstrous of a crime to take place! Bring them forth!

DuZhi looked horrified at Pamella as he was let down and dragged by his two arms.

Pamella stared stupefied to her surroundings and thought to herself,

Well... F*ck...
