"You needed me?"
Edmund nodded at Oreius.
"Yes. Put extra guard around all rooms we normally go in. Make sure the only people touching our food is Mrs. Brena and Enna and any of us, also make sure you do assure the other workers that will still get payed even though we are laying them off for a while. And make sure the foxes are secretly around Athena at all times." Edmund said. Oreius nodded and bowed.
"Yes, your majesty."
"Thank you." Edmund called after the centaur.
"You're welcome." Oreius left. Edmund sighed and stared out the window for a minute or so.
Feeling someone beside him he looked over and saw Elora standing beside him, Athena was fast asleep.
"Through sickness and in health." She whispered. Edmund smiled and grabbed her hand.
"I promised that, and I fully intend to keep that promise."
Elora sniffed and wiped her eyes.
"I'm never going to leave you. No matter what the circumstances are. I will never leave." He murmured. She began to cry.
"Thank you." She cried. Edmund gently took Athena from Elora. Elora sobbed in his arms.
"I'm so scared Edmund. I'm terrified." She sobbed. Edmund cried along with her. After her tears were gone, Arian awoke.
"Mummy... daddy..." He whispered. Elora smiled through her tears.
"Yes, darling?" She asked, stroking his hair out of his face.
"My stomach hurts." He whispered. She sniffed and nodded, tears threatening to fall again.
"I know, baby. I know." She murmured. He sniffed. She kissed his cheek.
Arian closed his eyes in pain. Celsa came in quietly.
"Queen Elora, I think it would be best if we sedated them it would-"
Elora choked back a sob and clung to Edmund, trembling like Edmund had never seen before.
"No. Please no. Edmund say no." She sobbed.
Edmund gulped back tears.
"Would that be the least painful option for them?" He asked. Celsa nodded.
"Elora. They'll be in much less pain. Don't you want that?" He asked. Elora shuddered and nodded.
"Yes. But... but..." She trailed off, hugging him tightly, Edmund felt her shaking and made her sit down.
"Your shaking. Elora it will be alright." He murmured, he wiped away a tear from her face with his thumb.
Athena was waking up. She silently crawled on her mother's lap and sleepily snuggled close to Elora. Elora kissed her daughter's hair and started playing with it.
"Yes, Celsa, you may sedate them. How about enough for two days." Edmund said in a quiet voice. Elora held back a sob.
"Yes, your majesty. Two days." She said. She silently mixed up the medicine. Then the door opened and Peter walked in silently.
"How's Sheth?" Edmund asked as Peter sat on the ground beside them.
"We decided it would be better to sedate him for a few days." Peter mumbled. Elora sniffed and held Athena closer. Peter smiled at his niece.
"Hey Athena, how are you?" He asked. She giggled and sucked her thumb.
"Are you still sleepy?" Elora asked. Athena shook her head.
"I'm awake." She replied. Peter chuckled.
"I can take her for a while if you two want to calm down a little bit." He offered. Elora looked at Edmund.
"Sure." Edmund said. Elora reluctantly handed Athena to Peter.
"Have fun with Uncle Peter!" Edmund called.
Peter took his niece down the hall to get Alana. He was actually quite shocked how well she was taking things, she had been distraught at first and now she was just stressed.
"Alana, do you want to come on a walk with me and Athena?" He asked, poking his head in the door. Alana nodded and stood up.
"Hello there Miss Athena! How are you?" She asked. Athena giggled a d clapped her hands happily.
"I'm good. I play outside with mummy!" She exclaimed. Peter laughed.
"Oh really?" She asked. Athena nodded.
"Mmhhhmmm! Daddy told her to go outside with me."
"Where's Edmund and Elora now?" Alana asked Peter. Peter set Athena down.
"They decided to sedate the boys." He explained. Alana sighed and nodded slowly.
"Oh."
"Elora was very upset." Peter said quietly. Alana nodded.
"Understandable." She said.
"Look what I found!" Athena exclaimed holding out a yellow flower. Peter took the flower and put it in Alana's hair. She giggled.
Athena squealed happily and reached for Alana.
Alana smiled and took her niece from her husband.
"Are you still feeling alright." She asked. Athena nodded, her brown pigtails bouncing as she did so.
"I'm good! Just everyone else is sick. I want them to get all better 'cause i wanna play with them again!" She exclaimed. "Mummy says we have to pray that Aslan protects them."
Alana sucked in a sharp breath and nodded, kissing Athena's cheek.
"Yes. Keep praying for them." She whispered. Athena nodded seriously.
"Okay. I will."
