Chapter 1
The strange man brings me to a nearby house that looks like it is abandoned. When the man enters the house he calls out loudly. 'Lilith, I'm home darling! I have a visitor!'
From somewhere upstairs I can hear a woman shout back. 'Give me a moment! I'm not presentable!'
The man takes me to a sitting room, with comfortably worn, light green seats, a coffee table made from brown wood and a heavily worn carpet. The entire room is dimly lit by only candles, mostly because the sun is blocked out by a set of heavy curtains. The man gestures to a seat, which I take as an invite to sit down. The man sits down as well. Both of us stay quiet, until the woman, whom I guess is Lilith, enters the room. First she looks quietly around, and then she plants her hands in her sides. 'Darling, you have gone to far now. You know I don't like visitors.'
The man leans back in his seat. 'I know, but I also know we need some help. We are getting older, you know.'
The woman gives him an angry scowl. Then she looks at me. 'So, who gave you permission to sit in my chair?'
I immediately stand up out of the chair. 'I'm sorry, madam. I thought I could sit in it after your husband gestured to the seat.'
The woman pushes me into another chair and sits down in the chair I was sitting in before she came in. Then she goes on with the displaying of her anger. 'I have been busy for days to keep everything going smoothly. And then you go out and put everything back into the infernal mess it was before. If you just leave it I could manage it. But no, you have to stick your big nose into my business.'
The man stays calm. 'That has a good reason. You just said it yourself. You have been busy for days to get everything the way it should be. But with some help it should be a lot easier. More hands make light work of everything. And I have a good feeling about him. Why don't you give him a chance?'
Lilith is furious. 'I don't need help from anyone! I'm a strong, independent woman! I don't need help from anyone! Especially a man!'
She spits out the last word like it is an insult. Yet the man does not care nor does he respond. Still, I feel like my hospitality here is overdue. I push myself out of the chair and move towards de door. 'I thank you for your hospitality, good sir and lady, but I believe I must go now.'
The man looks at me with a devilish grin. 'Leaving so soon? But you haven't even taken a drink with us! Come back and ignore my darling.'
Somehow I get pulled back to the chair. The man goes to the kitchen and comes back with three mugs with some kind of brownish fluid in it. He gives one of them to me and another to Lilith. Than he sits back down. 'Considering the fact that Lilith isn't as bothered by you as she was by the other candidates I believe I have found my helper. That means all we need to do now is to get you settled here. Welcome in my service.'
I don't know what he is talking about. I take a sip from the strange liquid in the cup. It burns my throat slightly. Then they both drink the entire cup empty. Both of them start to change. To transform. I cannot explain it, but Lilith starts to grow wings. Het black dress transforms with it, to reveal more of her body. Her head starts to sprout horns. She... she must be the legendary Lilith, the one in service of the devil.
The man changes to. He becomes larger, his skin turns red and he starts to grow wings. All of his clothing disappears except for a black loincloth with black obsidian chains on it. The man grows a lot of muscles to. But something else changes to. His skin, which seemed ok, now wrinkles a lot. Lilith has the same problem, but a lot less.
When the two start transforming my first reaction is: Get out of here. But it doesn't work. The seat I'm in seems to be glued to my bottom. All I can do is sit and look in horror to where I ended up. I am in hell...
The man now speaks. His voice sounds a lot deeper, but not any less persuading. 'As you can see, my friend, we are stronger than you thought. We both are powerful. This is also what we are offering you. Almost unlimited power, if you just join us. You will get a job in our service, a roof above your head and all the comforts you could ever wish for. All you need to do is accept my offer.'
I don't know what to do. They seem so nice. But it is the devil I am speaking with. If I accept his offer I will never see the insides of heaven, if that exists to. But if he speaks truly I will never need heaven anyway. And not just that, maybe I will be let into heaven anyway because I helped someone else to. Even if that person is pure evil. With that thought in my mind I look back up at him. 'I accept your offer.'
The devil lays a muscled hand on my shoulder. 'Good. Very good. Finish your drink. Then I will introduce you to your... colleagues. I think you will fit right in.'
I finish my drink. The burning sensation returns, but a lot more violent now. I have to go through a lot of trouble to stay awake. All the while both of them look at me.
