A Poet And A Princess

I walk dirt roads, sowing rhymes with words

You walk bright halls, singing sweet songs to birds

Wearing simple rags, I wander with the breeze

Threads of silk adorn you, men greet you on their knees

Came to the castle, gave a show of a lifetime

Hearing every word, your heart let out a sigh

Took a bow, went on my way, not knowing you'd been there

You rushed out through the crowd, and searched for me with care

I turned back at your call, smiled, and said, "Good day!"

You waved, smiled back, then asked me for my name

"Poet," I simply said, then asked how I might be of aid

"Walk with me for a while, and speak with me," you said

We talked for hours though so quickly they passed

Shared many stories and lots of laughs

Connection grew, just a simple spark

You had to go for it soon would be dark

"My heart's not mine to give," you softly said

I gently nodded and called you friend

Tears falling from our eyes, we parted ways

The memory of this time together stays

Worlds divide

Stars collide

Is there no hope for love's true caress

For a Poet and a Princess

I walk dirt roads, sowing rhymes with words

You walk bright halls, singing sweet songs to birds
