In Our Own Fantasy

"Sparkplug? Quit daydreaming! What could you possibly be imagining this time?"

"Stop it Chatter! Yellin' at her won't do a thing! You can't get her out of her trance just by screaming at her. She's just like her trainer, head constantly in the clouds. Well, at least that's what my Alexander says."

The trio of Pokemon faced the giant rippling ocean, dyed a pale orange against the bright red setting sun in the sky above it.

"The what do you suppose would help, Ripple?" Chatter exclaimed, looking over at the daydreaming Pokemon and returning his gaze to his vocal companion and scratching the top of his green head, nearly poking his paw on one of the spiny thorns on his skull. "She gets crazy trapped in her own imagination. It's impossible to snap her out of it!"

Ripple the Froakie patted the Chespin on the back. "Nonsense, Chatter. Watch and learn!" The blue Pokemon stated, winking and leaping skillfully over the the Daydreaming creature, before opening his jaws and spitting out a batch of white, sticky bubbles, often known as Frubbles, which clung to the light gold fur of the third Pokemon.

The golden furred Pokemon shook her head, flattening her over-sized ears against her head and frowning, focusing her bright orange orbs at the Chespin and Froakie in front of her. "Huh? Chatter, Ripple, why did you..." Sparkplug closed her eyes and lifted her front leg to her forehead, getting the delicate paw covered in the sticky shimmering stuff that coated her skull. "Really, Ripple? Frubbles??" Sparkplug held out her sticky paw in the face of the Froakie. "Did you do this, you disgusting ball of slime?" She growled playfully.

"Guilty as charged, my little Fennekin friend." Ripple smirked and laid down on the grassy hill, tucking his frog-like hands underneath his head to support it. "What can I say, it's my own special way to snap you out of your dopey daydreaming. My trainer Alex says that you the only way to snap your trainer out of her daydreams is to pull her hair!" Ripple closed his eyes and laughed, Chatter joining in the chorus of chuckles and Sparkplug's face growing slightly red with anger.

Chatter sat up and propped himself up with his fore paws, smiling casually at the Fennekin and laughing lightly. "Relax, Sparky, you're turnin' as red as a Magmar! Ripple wasn't tryin' to be rude!" Chatter patted Sparkplug's forehead, getting his paw stuck in Froakie's frubbles that still were stuck to the little Fox-Pokemon's head fur. Chatter pulled back his sticky paw and panicked, trying to get the sticky white Frubbles off of his hand by rubbing it in the grass repeatedly, causing an eruption of giggles from the Fennekin. Chatter, who had finally gotten the sticky substance off his paw, stood and stared at Sparkplug with an amused expression. "Very funny, you ridiculous fox. So what were you daydreaming 'bout anyway?"

"Nothing. It's noncence."

"Come on, Sparky!" The Chespin urged, "You can tell us, right Ripple?" The Froakie opened and eye and grunted a response before relaxing again.

Sparkplug smiled and stared at the setting sun again, her eyes distant with thought. "Ok. Fine. Well... You see... I sometimes like to imagine a world without humans... Where Pokemon can be whatever they wanna be!"

"Hmph." Ripple sat up, crossing his arms across his chest and frowning. "That's ridiculous. A world without people is ridiculous."

"Well I think it's kinda cool." Chatter sighed pleasantly, plopping down onto his rear and sitting comfortably gazing at his companions. "Especially being the 'whatever we want to be'! I can just imagine, me, a mighty warrior, carrying around my trusty leaf-blade and riding my trusty Ponyta to victory!" Chatter stood again, holding up a pretend sword and trying to look as brave as possible. "I will be the bravest hero in the whole Pokemon kingdom, and I made an oath to always protect the Princess Sylveon from bad guys! And always I do, because I am Chatter the mighty Chespin warrior!"

"Ha. You look ridiculous." Ripple stood and said dramatically. "Warriors certainly aren't as cool as what I would be." The Froakie lifted his hood of frubbles and smirked mischievously. "Mysterious as night itself, I would be. Quiet and cunning. I would be a ninja, hiding in the shadows, but appearing once in a great while, just to save Princess Sylveon. Who needs a night, when you've got a smart, swift, brave ninja to guard you? Can't you just imagine it? Ripple, the cunning ninja Froakie!"

"I thought you said such thoughts were ridiculous!" The Fennekin chuckled, "And besides, you are both wrong! Neither of you can top what I've imagined myself as!" Sparkplug stood, fluffing out her tail and smiling, her eyes ablaze with awe and excitement. "I'm the best Pokemon in the kingdom, for I'm the wielder of magic. I'm the ultimate defender of the princess of course. Not even the strongest knight or the smartest ninja can defeat magic! Bad guys bow down before me, because I am Sparkplug, the wizard Fennekin!"

"Well, warriors are still better!"

"No! Cause ninjas rule!"

"Untrue! Nothing can compare to the skill of a wizard!"

"But everyone can trust an honorable knight! Why trust a shifty ninja or a magical vixen?"

"Why try to fight with your dumb sword? I can do even more powerful attacks with my magic!"

"Why does it matter anyway?" The argument was cut off by the sour toned voice of Ripple, who had sat down again and pulled his hood up to cover his eyes, giving him an ominous, mysterious look. "It's not like we will ever be any of those things. They're just dumb childhood fantasies."

There was a long period of silence.

"Well I don't think so." It was Chatter who spoke up, his eyes fixated on the ground as he talked again. "W-we can make 'em realities! We can grow up... And evolve! A-and we can become what we wanna be! Nothing's impossible if ya believe! Maybe when I evolve, I'll become a brave Pokemon warrior, oh and you a ninja Ripple, and Sparky, you a wizard! Then, we can battle each other to see which one is best!" Chatter smiles and puts his hands on his hips. "That'll be the day."

Sparkplug and Ripple nodded with a smile, returning their gaze to the ocean before them, glittering with the reflection of a hundred stars, the trio beginning to daydream. Or perhaps they fell asleep, and dreamt for real, each about a trio of Pokemon heroes, fighting to save a princess who existed only in their own little fantasies...
