DISCLAIMER: STILL DON'T OWN NARUTO, WHY DO I EVEN BOTHER?
Just a picture of Ursa I made on a anime-face app.
LONG chapter up ahead! Took all day, my motivation was that I couldn't eat until I finished writing, which really makes me work, lolol. Enjoy!
Chapter 4: Teamwork is Key!!!
___________________________________
Ursa's POV
Waking up after a much needed sleep of three hours, I look out my bedroom window and see that it's still dark out. Rolling my eyes, I turn my body and fall to the hardwood floor of my bedroom. Huffing, I stand up and stretch my arms over my head, popping my locked joints. Dropping my arms, I slump to my lazy posture and head towards the bathroom to start my routine.
Flicking the lights to the bathroom, I instantly squint my eyes due to the harsh lights. Once my eyesight readjusted, I fully open my eyes and look into the mirror. I instantly cringe at the dark bags under my eyes.
Man, I look like a zombie from The Walking Dead.
Frowning at my face, I turn away and start the shower. Stripping myself from my clothes, I step into the cold water, making me jump. Teeth chattering, I pull through the freezing waters since it's the only thing that will fully wake me up.
Grabbing the coconut scented shampoo, I lather it into my hair and scrub my short locks. Once that's done, I rinse my hair and repeat the cycle with the same scented conditioner. Rinsing again, I lather floral scented soap on a luffa and scrub my body raw. Finishing with my shower, I rinse once more before I turn it off and step out.
Not wanting to drench the floor with water, I wrap myself in a purple towel. Securing the towel, I walk to the mirror and wipe off the condensation, looking into the mirror once again. Taking the brush from the countertop, I quickly brush my hair. With that done, I pick up my dirty clothes and walk back to my room.
Emptying my dirty laundry into the hamper, I quickly get dressed in my usual outfit. Zipping the jacket, I then wrap bandages on my right thigh and secure my kunai holster. Placing the weapon's pouch on my waist, I then kick on my black Shinobi boots. Lastly, I tie my white headband on my forehead, showing that I'm a newly dedicated Leaf Kunoichi.
Who would've thought that this would become my new life?
Now, moving on to more important things!
Running out of my bedroom, I look at the clock in the living room, next to my bookshelf, and read the time. 2:56 am. Sighing, I nod at the time and grab my keys before walking out of my apartment. Locking the door behind me, I walk down the flight of stairs and into the streets of Konoha.
"Since it's still early, I should buy more weapons," I mutter to myself.
Walking in the darkened streets, I reach into my weapon's pouch and take out a white slip of paper.
Chakra paper. Now, which element do I have?
Holding the thin paper in between my fingers, I stop in my steps and concentrate. Closing my eyes, I build up the chakra towards my fingertips. Feeling the warm sensation build up in my stomach, I wait until it reaches my fingers. That's until I hear the paper change. Opening my eyes, I stare with wide eyes.
It ripped! Burn for fire, wet for water, crinkle for lightning, dry and crumble for earth, then...I got wind! Nice!
Eager with my new discovery, I walk towards a lit weapon's shop. Reaching my destination, I walk in as the door jingles at my entrance. Looking around, I see older Shinobi scattered across the shop's area. Not wanting to disturb their business, I quietly walk around, trying to find a weapon that appeals to me.
A sword? Nah.
Nunchaku sticks? Nope, I'll probably just hit myself in the face!
Scythe? No, I don't want to be Hidan!
Twin Katanas? No, that'll lead to a premature death.
Bo? Nope, that's just a long stick!
Bow and Arrows? That's Katniss and Hawkeye, not me!
Walking towards the back of the shop, I ignore all the other weapons as they don't interest me. I need something that will help with my chakra nature, but what will help with wind? Chakra blades? A fan?
My eyes widen, a fan! Now, that's what I need!
Reaching the weapons in the wind section, my purple eyes lay upon my future weapon. The fan itself is completely black, frame and everything! On the handle, I suddenly watch as my name appears in silver japanese letters.
This is the one! The weapon chooses the ninja!
"Hey, old man, how much is that fan," I shout towards the shop owner, eyes glued to the weapon.
Not a moment too long, a man, probably in his early to mid forties walks up to me. "Tsk, as if you have enough money, you brat," he crosses his arms, sneering.
"Hn, just tell me," I look away and narrow my eyes at him.
"Fine, it's your loss. The fan's worth is $600," he informs me.
My eyes widen, 600 dollars!!!
Okay, the rent's already covered by the Hokage. I have enough food in the fridge to last me two full weeks. I won't be buying anymore clothes since I already have everything. No more weapons, or books. Done and done!
I nod with a smirk on my face. "I'll take it," I say, closing the deal.
"Are you serious," he states with disbelief. No, I'm Ursa.
"Yes, now give me my weapon," I confirm as I reach into my pocket.
Walking up to the wall, I watch as he takes down the fan from its place, taking the sticker price off. Turning around, he walks back to me and gives me my newly bought weapon. Shoving the money in his hand, I take the large fan away from him.
"Pleasure doing business with you," I announce, walking out of the shop.
Strapping the fan to my back, I shove my hands into my pants pockets and walk towards the training grounds. Even though I'm filled with glee at the moment, my face is in its usual 'Resting Bitch Face' mode. Wasting almost an hour already, I have at least another hour to train with Wind jutsus. Suddenly, I stop in my tracks.
A fan? Welp, I'm just like Temari now, whoop dee doo! If I train hard enough, I wonder who will be better, her or me?
Shaking my head, I proceed towards the assigned training grounds that my team will soon meet in. Once I arrive, I instantly see the three wooden posts used for Taijutsu or kunai practice and the KIA stone. I shake my head.
If only Kakashi knew that Obito wasn't dead, then maybe he wouldn't be so sad.
Closing my eyes, I try to remember all the Wind style jutsus that Temari produced. Sighing, I finally open my eyes. Unstrapping the black fan from my back, I concentrate my chakra towards my hands.
Please work!
Once my arms and hands feel the familiar sensation of chakra, I smirk.
"Wind Style: Wind Scythe Jutsu," I announce, thrusting the fan forwards.
-_-_-_-
Huffing with exhaustion, I watch as the dark, star littered, sky disappears as the pastel hues emerge from the horizon. The sun creeping at the edge of the sky as the wind fills with the sounds of singing birds, telling us to wake up.
Sitting criss crossed on the grass, I pull the green blades from the ground as I patiently wait for my team to arrive. Since I've been awake for more than two hours and exhausted my chakra network, my stomach rumbles with dying hunger. Groaning at the inconvenience, I fall back into the grass, spreading my arms out.
Why must I be so hungry?! I need food ASAP!
Damn, I'm such a fat ass.
Scoffing at myself, I smile as I stare up at the pastel lit sky. Suddenly, I become alert at the sound of incoming footsteps.
Finally, what took them so long?!
I stay still, unmoving from my comfortable position as I wait for the newcomer. As the person comes closer, I see a tinge of blue in my peripheral vision. I smirk.
"Oh! Finally, my ray of sunshine arrives," I say, looking up at the frowning Uchiha.
"Hn, what are you doing here so early," he asks, shoving his hands into his pockets.
Sitting up, I rest my arms on my knees. "Well, I was training with my new fan," I inform, pointing my head at the discarded weapon on the ground.
His narrowed eyes, SLIGHTLY, widen. "You were training this early," he asks with disbelief in his voice.
I smile, producing a small chuckle. "Yes, Sasuke, I need to train because I'm not as skilled as you and I also need to learn how to protect myself," I explain to the top rookie.
"Hn," he nods. His eyes then gaze towards the large fan before looking back at me. "Where did you get that?"
I frown at the memory of losing so much money. "I bought it earlier today. Six hundred dollars, can you believe that," I ask with wide eyes.
He scoffs, shaking his head with a smirk. "All that money for a fan? I'm guessing you use wind chakra," he says.
Is he laughing at me?! That bastard!
I smile sheepishly. "Yeah, I know. And yes, that's why I bought a fan, so I could use wind jutsus," I explain.
"Hn, loser," he smirks.
I just turn away and blush with embarrassment.
Next thing I know, is that Sakura's running up to us, specifically Sasuke. I shake my head at her, when will she stop doing that? Probably never, since she practically 'loves' him. Once she reaches us, I watch as she hugs Sasuke's right arm, pressing herself against him.
I need to bite my lip to stop myself from bursting out with laughter as I look at Sasuke's face. He's practically cringing in disgust while giving her a death glare. Stomach hurting, tears glistening in my eyes, I let go and explode in laughter, falling back to the ground as I hold my stomach.
"Ahahaha, his face! Oh, my Jashin, help me! Ahaha," I laugh as my eyes pool with tears.
"URSA," Sakura screams, mad that I'm practically laughing at her.
"Okay, okay! I'll stop, hehehe," I say, slightly giggling as I control my breaths. "Oh, Sasuke, you are so my new best friend!"
"What?! No he's not," Sakura screeches, disliking the idea.
Well, too bad, princess!
-_-_-_-
Hours passed since the announcement of my new friendship and we're still waiting for Kakashi. Naruto's here as well, but he's complaining with Sakura as they yell about our sensei's tardiness.
Man, he takes forever!!!
Almost nine hours since I woke up, I still need and dangerously want food!!! I'm starving!
By now, I'm standing next to the Uchiha, waiting while ignoring our other teammates. Stoic look on my face, I cross my arms over my chest and copy his stance. I know I'm patient, but damn, this is too long of a wait. Just as I'm about to sit back down on the grass, I hear a poof. Looking up, I frown as I see our sensei appear.
"YOU'RE LATE," both Sakura and Naruto yell in synch.
"Sorry, a black cat crossed my path, so I took the long way," he lies smoothly.
Yeah, a cat.
Ignoring us, he continues with today's plans. "Okay, it's set for noon," Kakashi informs, placing a clock on a wooden post.
"Here are three bells, your task is to take these from me before the time's up," he tells us, raising the bells so we could see them. "Those who don't have a bell by noon, gets no lunch. I'll not only the you to one of those stumps, but I'll also eat right in front of you," he continues, trying to intimidate us.
Just as he mentioned lunch, my stomach growls, resembling a dying whale. My eyes widen with surprise as I blush with complete embarrassment. The stomachs of the other three only emit a soft rumble.
Why must I neglect my need to eat food?
"You only need to get one bell. There are only three, so one of you will definitely be tied to a stump and the person who doesn't get a bell, fails. So at least one of you will be sent back to the academy. If you want to use kunais and shurikens, you won't succeed unless you come at me intending to kill," our sensei says, informing us.
"But you'll be in danger," Sakura screams with concern.
I scoff, she's totally underestimating him.
"Yeah, you're so slow you can't even dodge a black board eraser! We'll definitely kill you," Naruto boasts, resting his arms behind his head.
"In the real world, those with no talent often bark the loudest. We'll ignore Mr. Deadlast and start when I say," Kakashi insults Naruto, not even effected.
Next thing, as expected, I watch as Naruto lets his anger fuel him as he takes out a kunai and charges at Kakashi. With amusement, I watch as Kakashi quickly flashes behind him and takes a hold of Naruto's hand, pointing the kunai at the genin's head.
"Huh," Naruto mutters with shock.
"Calm down, I haven't said start yet," Kakashi states.
Looking around me, I see Sakura's face full of surprise as she just witnessed the scene before her. Turning to Sasuke, he's smirking with determination as he marvels at his new goal. I shake my head.
"Well, it seems you're finally prepared to come at me with the intent to kill. So, you've finally acknowledged me? Hehe, it seems like I'm beginning to like you guys. Okay, let's get going," he says, giving us a closed eye smile.
"Ready."
I smirk.
"Set."
I clench my hands into fists, yosh! Let's do this!
"Begin!"
Instantly, I do a series of backflips and disappear into the foliage of trees. Once I'm hidden, I let out an exasperated breath as my limbs ache. Never again, should I do a backflip. Sitting on a tree, I watch the scene before me unfold.
"The most important thing for a Shinobi is to be able to hide themselves," Kakashi states as he looks around.
"Come here and fight me! I said, fight me," Naruto exclaims, yelling at our sensei.
This is even more amusing in real life, all I need is popcorn!
"Uhm, you're a little weird," Kakashi says, surprised that he's not hiding.
"The only thing that's weird here, is your haircut," Naruto insults. Haha, burn!
"Fine. Shinobi fighting lesson number one, Taijutsu. I'll teach you about it," our sensei says, finally getting serious.
Reaching into his weapon's pouch, I watch as Naruto stops in his movements while I lean in, wanting to see more. My eyes widen with anticipation even though I already know what's going to happen.
Suddenly, as if Kakashi could hear me, he takes out the famous book Icha Icha Paradise. Leaning even further, I narrow my eyes, trying to read the contents.
"What's wrong? Hurry up and attack me," Kakashi demands.
"But..hey?! What's with the book," Naruto asks, pointing his finger at the orange book.
"I just want to know what happens next. Don't worry, it won't make a difference against you guys," Kakashi says nonchalantly, turning a page.
My eye twitches, did he just call us weak? That's so not cool!
If teamwork is what he wants, then that's what he'll get.
Quickly and silently, not really, I jump from my branch and run towards our sensei. Unstrapping the large fan, I catch their attention.
"Wind Style: Wind Scythe Jutsu," I tell just because I'm angry. No one calls me weak.
Thrusting the fan forwards, my chakra creates a current of wind. Inside the current are dozens of sharp blades of wind racing towards my pervy sensei.
I watch as his eye widens with surprise before he jumps out of the way. Naruto screams, also jumping out of the way. As the wind dies down, I stand behind my fan, glaring at my sensei in determination.
"Naruto, now," I demand.
He nods with understanding. Running forward, he throws punches and kicks at Kakashi, but seeing as the latter is a skilled Jounin he easily blocks the attacks with one hand. Seeing as he's preoccupied, I run forward and raise my closed fan. Once I'm close, I strike the fan, using it as a weapon.
Kakashi throws Naruto away like trash before grabbing the end of my fan. Already anticipating that as his move, I propel myself up and deliver a kick. Aiming for his head, Kakashi quickly and skillfully puts away his book before gripping my ankle. Hanging somewhat in midair, I reach one of my arms out and reach for the bells. But before my fingers could even touch the bells, he throws me aside along with my fan.
Hitting the floor, I grunt and roll a good distance. Propping myself up with my arms, I glare at the Copycat ninja, but I already see Naruto attacking him. Grunting, I stand up and grab my fan as I prepare to throw another attack.
Instead of my attack, I watch as Kakashi disappears from Naruto's view to behind him.
"A Shinobi isn't suppose to get caught from behind," Kakashi informs, forming the 'tiger' sign.
Oh no.... Should I help, or let it happen? I mean, I do kind of want to see it.
Feeling conflicted about my motives, I just stand there letting it happen. To tell the truth, this is one of the best moments and I want to experience it in real life. Man, my priorities suck.
"Naruto, run away! You're going to get killed," my head snaps to the right as Sakura yells.
Idiot, she just gave her spot away.
"What," Naruto asks with widened eyes.
"Too late! Hidden Leaf Ancient Taijutsu Supreme Technique: A 1000 years of Pain," Kakashi yells, thrusting his fingers up Naruto's butt.
Instantly, Naruto screams in pain as he goes flying towards the lake. Unable to stop myself, I explode with laughter as I bend over, holding my stomach. After a few long seconds, my laughter does down to giggles as I wipe a tear away from my eye.
Phew! That was epic!
"You should pay more attention to your surroundings," Kakashi says from behind me.
My eyes widen, fearing for my life. Quickly reacting, I spin on my heel and throw a high kick. Just as I threw it, he quickly caught my ankle, stopping the kick. Still holding my fan, I raise it over my head and strike down. But again, he catches it.
"You're fast, I'll give you that, but you're not fast enough," he criticizes.
With that said, he spins on his heel and throws me against a tree. Crashing against the sturdy trunk of the tree, my back arches as pain runs up my spine. Clenching my teeth shut, I stop myself from screaming. Momentarily limp, my body falls to the ground like a discarded piece of trash.
Damn, I should pay more attention.
My attention gets bought as two shurikens spin out of the water, towards Kakashi. The latter who's a super strong, talented, and powerful Jounin, catches the shuriken like it was nothing. I roll my eyes as he starts laughing. Then a few seconds later, Naruto crawls out of the lake, soaking wet and coughing.
"Hey, what's wrong? If you don't get a bell before noon, you won't get lunch," Kakashi states, reminding us that there's food.
"I know, I know," Naruto exclaims.
"You sure are weak for someone who's going to surpass the Hokage," Kakashi insults. Then he turns to me. "And you, you sure are easily beaten for someone who wants to be the strongest Kunoichi," he states, downgrading me.
My eye twitches, oh, he did NOT say that!
"I can still fight with an empty stomach," Naruto yells.
Ugh, I groan as my stomach growls with hunger, sounding like a dying animal.
"I was just a little careless, that's all," Naruto defends.
"Carelessness can be your worst enemy," Kakashi states.
He's right, if I let my emotions control me they'll be the cause of my downfall. I need to focus and create a plan.
Standing up, I dash towards the treeline and hide until I come up with a reasonable plan. Teamwork, that's the key to this exercise, but who's someone I could work well with?
Sakura? She has great aim with weapons, perfect chakra control, and she knows basic Ninjutsu. But she's not fast or strong enough to fight against Kakashi.
Naruto? Well, he has incredible stamina and an endless source of enegy, plus he's determined. But he also acts first before thinking, he's rash.
Sasuke? He's strong and quick on his feet, basic Uchiha traits. He knows Ninjutsu and not just the basics, but he's stubborn and likes to work by himself.
What to do? Who to choose?
Sighing, I look up only to see Naruto beating himself up. I deadpan, really? Turning away from the insane and idiotic scene before me, I dash deeper into the trees, looking for a specific best friend.
-_-_-_-
Reaching the tree where Sasuke is perched on, I watch as he suddenly throws shuriken. Following them with my eyes, I see that they embed themselves into Kakashi's body. Well, a Substitution jutsu, seeing as Kakashi turned to a log.
I hear Sasuke curse under his breath, before jumping down, wanting to change locations. As he does, we're suddenly face to face. My eyes widen as my face slowly becomes red with our sudden closeness.
"Uh...uh hi," I stutter.
"Tch, what are you doing here," he hisses at me.
Snapping back to my stoic look, I narrow my eyes. "I came here to ask you if you wanted to work together," I ask the Uchiha.
"Hn, no, you'll only slow me down," he says before running to who knows where.
Rolling my eyes, I huff before following after him. Catching up, I give him a sideways glare as we continue running through the trees. "That's a lie and you know it! Come on, our chakra natures work really well together. Plus, I'm only asking because you're the strongest in our team and you're this year's top rookie, you'll have more of a chance to get a bell if we work together," I explain, practically shouting in a whispered tone.
He stops, letting my words sink in. Then he turns to me with a smirk on his face. It worked!
"Hn, fine. Just don't get in my way," he agrees.
"Yes, you're the best," I say with a smile. Stuck in the moment, I quickly hug him, wrapping my arms around his neck. I stay like that for a few seconds.
He smells so good.
"Ursa," he says, bringing me back to reality.
I tense and quickly push away from him. "R-right, s-sorry," I apologize, blushing with embarrassment.
"Hn, let's go," he says before walking away.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, I facepalm before following him. Silently, we quickly jog through the wooded area until we come upon a wide, open, clearing. Sasuke looks around before nodding to himself as he rushes towards a tree and sets up a trap.
While watching the Uchiha set up his trap, he stops while a spine chilling scream pierces the air. I cringe at the idea of Genjutsu, I may be creative with art, but illusions are other thing. They mess with someone's head, that's so not my forte.
"That scream," Sasuke mutters.
"It was Sakura. She obviously got stuck in a Genjutsu," I explain, walking to where he is.
"That's right! Shinobi fighting lesson number two, Genjutsu. Sakura easily fell for it," Kakashi says, announcing his presence.
I tense, raising my guard. Lifting my arm, I grab the hilt of my fan, ready to attack the Jounin. Sasuke, who's besides me, closes his eyes and give Kakashi an arrogant smirk.
I sscoff, shaking my head, Uchihas.
"I'm not the same as them," Sasuke says, rather cockily.
"Say that after you get a bell, Sasuke-kun," Kakashi teases.
Jumping away, I watch as they have a silent stand off. I see it all in my head, but I watch as it gives a close up to both their eyes, western style. In my head I hear the music as well, building the suspense. That's until the older ninja speaks up.
"The village's most powerful clan, the Uchiha clan. This could be interesting," Kakashi says, looking at Sasuke while still holding his book. "Then there's Ursa, a girl no one knows about," he tells as he looks at me.
I gulp, does he suspect something?
With one last smirk, Sasuke suddenly throws several shurikens at the Jounin. I watch as he jumps back to avoid them, that's where I come in. Quickly unholstering my fan, I swing it towards the incoming Kakashi. Thinking fast, he abruptly stops his movement and jumps to side as my fan hits the ground of his previous spot.
"Such obvious attack are useless," he says, landing at a distance.
Both Sasuke and I smirk as he stands where we want him. Sasuke pulls the string to his trap and I watch as Kakashi's eyes widen. Then like clockwork, a bunch of kunai fly towards the sitting duck of our sensei.
Just as the kunai were about to cut into his body, Kakashi flashes away to a safer location. I huff, angry that we can't land a hit on him. Well, that's what he thought. Thinking that he's safe, he gets surprised as Sasuke appears behind him. Delivering a kick, Kakashi quickly turns around and grabs his ankle like he did to me. But Sasuke isn't me.
Sasuke who's more skilled at Taijutsu, continues to deliver a series of attack. Next, he raises his right arm and throws a punch. As intense as it is, I groan as Kakashi grips his fist. Watching, I see that Sasuke lifts his other leg and throws another kick, towards our sensei's head.
Ducking to dodge the kick, Kakashi continues to hold Sasuke upside down. But that's what Sasuke wanted. Within reach, the Uchiha smirks which takes Kakashi a moment to understand. Finally realizing the Genin's motive, he throws Sasuke away just as his fingers touch the bells.
Now!
Rushing forwards, I quickly swing my large fan at Kakashi's back, where he's vulnerable. Turning around, he grips the hilt of the fan, stopping my movements, I smirk. Dropping the fan from my hands, I raise my fist and throw a punch. Taking my fist, I continue to smirk as I propel myself up and kick his chest with my feet.
Stumbling back, I drop down before sending a high kick with my left leg. Dropping the fan from his hand, he uses it to grip my ankle. As I occupy Kakashi's hands, I give Sasuke a look, signaling him.
Sasuke then rushes up behind our sensei and throws a punch. Letting go of my leg, he quickly takes a hold of Sasuke's closed fist. Once he's caught, Sasuke sends me a look. Moving with fast instincts, I use my free hand and reach for the bells.
Already suspecting this, Kakashi uses his strength to swing us away from him before swinging both Sasuke and I together, crashing on impact. Groaning against Sasuke's chest, Kakashi doesn't waste a second before he kicks the both of us away. Falling to the floor, tangled against each other, I lay on top of Sasuke.
I chuckle. "Well look at this, I always knew I was the dominant one," I say with a husky tone.
Getting up and off of Sasuke, I miss the blush forming on his face. Picking up my discarded fan, I stand in a stance, ready to attack. Sasuke soon joins me, ready to perform his jutsu.
"Well, I have to acknowledge that you two are different from the others," Kakashi states, looking to the both of us.
"Hn," Sasuke smirks.
"Is that so," I say, smirking as well.
Suddenly, Sasuke starts to make the hand signs of his jutsu while I build up some of the chakra I have left. As he forms the tiger sign, I open my fan.
"What," Kakashi looks shocked, eye widening.
"Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu!"
"Wind Style: Cutting Whirlwind!"
Just as Sasuke exhales the large ball of hot flames, I thrust my fan forward, creating a whirlwind. As they both race towards our sensei, the two jutsus combine and create a large flaming tornado. With the dual attack racing forwards, it leaves a trail of scorched earth behind it.
Soon as the violent tornado dies down, leaving a pit of black, scorched rocks, we don't see Kakashi anywhere. Closing my fan, I watch as Sasuke looks around, trying to find out sensei. Then my mind clicks making me snap my head towards Sasuke to earn him.
"Sasu-"
"Below you," Kakashi interrupts, grabbing both our ankles. "Earth Style: Head Hunter Jutsu," he says before pulling us into the earth's surface.
Damn it!
"Shinobi fighting lesson number three, Ninjutsu. Well, you're already way further with this than the others. But hey, they say that an exposed nail should be hammered in. Hehe," Kakashi informs us before walking away.
"Damn you," Sasuke mutters.
"Hey! Get back here and let us out! I know you can hear us, you baka," I tell after him. I then turn to Sasuke. "At least, we're in this together, right," I say.
But all I get is silence.
Great!
-_-_-_-
After a few minutes and Sakura finding us, screaming and fainting, Sasuke somehow got out before helping me. After, I got out, he then moved to help an unconscious Sakura. Groaning, I lift my arms over my head and stretch, popping my locked joints.
Returning to my somewhat lazy posture, I walk over to my discarded fan and strap it to my back. Looking around, I see the amount of destruction that both Sasuke and I made. I nod in appreciation as I cross my arms over my chest.
We make a great team. Fire and wind, I guess we were meant to be!
My attention snaps back when I hear Sakura's voice cry in happiness. Looking at her direction, I find her hugging Sasuke, practically squeezing him to death. My eye twitches.
Nope, nope, do NOT go all Yandere on her, she's not worth it. Calm down, Ursa.
Playing it cool, I walk towards them with a stoic face, pretending that I didn't see anything. Once, I'm next to them, I hear Sasuke talking.
"-There's a man that only I can kill," he says. Poor Itachi.
"Ah, who do you mean," Sakura asks, quite warily.
"That time....crying," he continues, ignoring her question.
"Crying?"
"My-"
"What? What do you mean," Sakura interrupts.
"I'm an avenger," he declares. No you're not, I didn't see you in the movies. "I have to become stronger so I can't just stay here and do nothing," he finishes.
My turn. "Sasuke, from what you said yesterday, I know that someday you'll accomplish that goal. And even if it's not necessary, I'll help you with whatever you need," I reassure, placing a hand on his shoulder.
But before he could reply, the alarm goes off, indicating that it's already noon. Sighing with exhaustion, I walk towards the meeting point. After a few short minutes, I arrive and meet a tied up Naruto and a waiting Kakashi Sensei.
Sitting on the far right, Sasuke's next me, then Naruto, and lastly Sakura. On the ground before us, lay out bento boxes which is filled with food. From here, I could smell the warm aroma of deliciousness, making my mouth water.
Food, my precious!
"You guys look really hungry, oh and, by the way, about the training. Well, there's no need for you guys to return to the academy," he informs before getting cut of by Naruto.
"Hey," he exclaims, grinning.
Sasuke smirks from besides me. Sakura smiles, even though all she did was faint and fall over. Me, on the other hand, I'm looking at Kakashi with suspicion.
"Then all four of us..." Naruto says, before cheering with Sakura, who's also celebrating.
"Yup! All four of you should quit as shinobi," Kakashi finishes.
What?! I used teamwork!
"What?! But I-" I go to say, but Naruto cuts me off.
"Quit as ninjas?! What does that mean?! Okay, okay, we could get the bells, but why do we have to quit," he exclaims, kicking his legs.
"Because all of you are punks who don't deserve to be ninjas," Kakashi explains.
This angers Sasuke which makes him attack Kakashi. Again, our sensei who is a super strong, talented, and powerful Jounin, easily deflects Sasuke's attempt before shoving him to the ground.
"This is why you're a punk," Kakashi says, sitting on Sasuke's back. "Are you guys underestimating ninjas? Huh? Why do you think you were divided into teams and doing this training," he asks.
"Huh, what does that mean," Sakura asks, confused.
"Basically. You guys are not understanding the answer to this test," Kakashi continues to explain.
Before any of the others talk, I choose now to speak up. "The answer is teamwork! Which doesn't make sense to why Sasuke and I failed, we worked together to fight against you," I explain.
My answer shocks my teammates, who never even though of that. Sasuke looks at me, but I don't pay him any mind since I'm focused on Kakashi.
"Correct, but if all of you worked together, you would have gotten the bells for sure," he explains, somewhat answering me.
So ALL of us needed to work together to pass? Not just two? It's confusing, but it makes sense.
"What do you mean 'teamwork'? There are only three bells! Even if we did get the bells, one of us will still fail! What teamwork? That'll just make us fight each other," Sakura asks, ranting.
"Of course! This test is purposefully set up to make you fight amongst yourselves," Kakashi answers her series of questions.
I place a hand in my chin. "Hmm. So this test is made so we could push our selfish needs aside and instead, we think of our comrades, right," I ask, summarizing everything.
"Yes, and to successfully work together under these circumstances. Yet you guys," he agrees before looking to Sakura.
"Sakura! Instead of Naruto, who was in front of you, you were only thinking about Sasuke," Kakashi scolds.
"Naruto! You were only running around by yourself," he, again, scolds.
"Sasuke! You just assumed the others would get in your way and tried to do everything by yourself," he reprimands.
"Ursa! Even though you used teamwork, you left Naruto behind and went after Sasuke," he tells me.
So, that's why I didn't pass. Sorry Naruto.
"The duties are done by the team. Of course superior individual ability is important to a ninja, but what's more important is teamwork. Individual play that disrupts the team can put your comrades in danger. And even get you killed, for example," Kakashi explains before pulling out a kunai, pointing it to Sasuke's neck.
"Sakura kill Naruto or Sasuke dies! Ursa kill Sakura if she moves," Kakashi threatens.
Deciding to play the part and scare Sakura, I pull out a kunai, spinning it in my fingers while giving her a murderous smile. She looks at me and pales profusely.
Guess, I could a Yandere now!
"You see? If a hostage was taken you will have tough choices, then die. You'll be risking your lives in these duties," Kakashi says, getting off Sasuke.
Oh, I guess that's what happened to Rin and Obito 'died'. Man, no wonder he's always sad, too much loss in his life.
I get brought back as Naruto starts yelling. Looking up, I see Kakashi by the KIA stone as Naruto's kicking his feet in determination. I shake my head at his stupidity, frowning. I watch as his face saddens at Kakashi's explanation, realizing what the memorial is meant for.
Killed In Action.
"You guys, I'll give you one more chance. But after lunch I'll make it even tougher to get the bells. Those who still wish to challenge me, can eat lunch. Don't give any to Naruto," our sensei informs.
"Huh," Naruto says.
"It's punishment for trying to eat by yourself," Kakashi says as he starts to walk away. But just before he leaves, he looks over his shoulder. "If any of you give him any food, they'll immediately fail. I am the rules here, got it," he finishes before disappearing.
"Heh, I don't any food," Naruto exclaims, putting on a brave face.
Picking up my bento, I open it and instantly the aroma overwhelms me. There's cooked rice with steaming vegetables. Teriyaki beef, layered with sauce which makes my mouth water. On the side is bean soup, the smell invading my nostrils. Ripping apart my chopsticks, I go to eat my food and finally fill my empty stomach, but Naruto's growling stomach stops me.
I want to eat, but I can't just be selfish and let him starve.
Closing my eyes, I sigh. "Here," I say, raising my bento to the orange clad ninja. "You deserve food just like the rest of us! If you want to get yourself a bell, you need energy," I explain.
"Ursa, but Ka-" Sakura tries, but gets cut off from Sasuke.
"She's right, he needs the food or else he'll slow us down," the Uchiha defends.
Sakura then looks down as she contemplates the risks, but in the end she also offers up her food.
"Thanks," Naruto says with a small blush. Oh, Naruto, don't feel that way! Pay attention to Hinata!
"You guys," Kakashi yells as the wind becomes violent.
"Ahhh," Naruto screams.
"Pass," Kakashi says with a closed eye smile.
"Pass? But why," Sakura asks.
"You guys are the first. Everyone would do whatever I told them, they were all morons. A ninja must see underneath the underneath. Those who break the rules and codes of the ninja world are called trash, but those who don't take care of their comrades are lower than trash," Kakashi explains to us.
Ah, the famous Obito quote.
"That ends the training, all of you pass! Tomorrow, Team 7 will begin its duties," Kakashi congratulates, giving us a thumbs up.
"Yay! I did it! I did it! I did it," Naruto cheers, kicking his feet.
Finally, I smile, stretching my arms. Team 7, here I come!
Here's a drawing, basically how their team picture looks like. Yay, so proud of how it turned out.
