Chapter 21
Unedited
After the service, Gbadamosi rushed into the office to say some word of prayers. Meanwhile Deja hung around the door along with other Pastors who wanted to see him. As the Chief Usher, Deja made use of her office as a excuse to get in before anyone.
Her heart pounded in fear of the imminent as she made entrance into Gbadamosi's office. She needed to clear her thoughts and find out the truth about Kilahi. "Good evening Sir" "How many times do you want to greet me in one evening?"
"Powerful Message Sir"
"We thank God" He replied making a few unnecesary organization on his desk, her pounding heart continued pestling, her eyes became glossy with tears, this is the man she has always imagined to be her husband.
God you know!
You know cause I've said it to you a hundred times!
Right now she doesn't even care of God opens his ears to read her mind, she didn't bother anymore. Deep down from the message he spilled that evening, she felt conquered.
Worst, like a wounded soldier!
A badly wounded soldier!
"So how many people are waiting there for me?" Gbadamosi raised his observing her closely, he noticed her uneasiness. "Are you okay?" "Hm?" She jolting out of her thought. "Okay this is serious, Sister Deja are you okay?" "Yeah"
"Adejare...." He called her name in full. She felt her heart wince, he even calls her name in the sweetest way! There's no getting over this one oh! She must be the woman of his dream oh!
"Is your mother is okay?" "Yes" "How is she?" "Fine. I didn't come in here to talk about my mother, I came to take a step" She paused and he chuckled in blissful oblivion. "Ah.. I see what you just did there"
"I want to make some clarifications"
"On what?"
Suddenly she heard Ade and Bimbo's voice, "If our chief Usher is inside let's kukuma call it ushers meeting!" Bimbo yelled as they both quickly barged in with so much excitement then they both hissed in disappointment on seeing Deja.
As if they didn't know she was inside!
"Can you two excuse Papa and I?" "As per what?" Bimbo asked, "You better think straight oh, je ki opolo e pe oh, cause i don't know how to talk to people that don't have complete sense"
"Sister Bimbo" Gbadamosi shot her a look so sucked her lips bowing her head slightly, "Apologies Papa,"
"Deja and i were actually about having a conversation"
"I'm sorry Sir. The queue outside is long, it's like it's today that everyone is now waiting to see you." "What about my Dad?"
"He's having a conversation with Pastor K. But anu Daddy n se mi (i feel pity for your dad) cause we know that Pastor K can talk as a hobby and Daddy is standing."
He laughs finding it funny. "And also, I just wanted to say that Sister Kilahi, your friend is still waiting too"
Gbadamosi nods, "I'll try to be done in a bit, you guys will have to help me too" "Okay Sir. We'll take our leave now" "Rara oh" Ade shook his head, "What kind of leave are we taking?" He added and Bimbo turned towards him, "Pele oh, it's maternity leave, abi you did not know sick leave. Shebi i resemble your boss at work that you're asking jamb question"
"Pele, jambite. I'm just saying that wasn't what we came to ask Papa. Who gave me cane that I'm using to beat bush, thank God i don't know how to use cane. Even Papa said when we have a nudging in our spirit we should take a step"
Uh Uh
Gbadamosi rolled his eyes wondering where this conversation was heading to.
Bimbo nods her heads, "You are right Brother Ade, it was a nudging in our spirit that brought us here and we need take a step. Me i don't always do dance steps so continue" " Yes I will. Papa, your message was so powerful that I couldn't have but ponder on next level. Are you already on the next level with Sister Kilahi?" He asked and Gbadamosi blushed.
"Wait for Sunday"
"Yes!" Bimbo jumped in excitement, "I just knew it my heart of heart pe (that) she's the one. From the way your eyes was just snapping her that day, i was like boya wo ti fi camera so ju Papa (someone has fixed camera lens in Papa's eyes)."
Deja's creased her brow in thought.
That day... What day?
Suddenly it hit her like a bomb....
The day they went to palm groove and she caught him staring at Kilahi's direction. Ade and Bimbo were so quick to cover up for him. So they knew!
They knew all these while!
No wonder Ade was so confident! How could she have been stupid?
"Finally, we have our Mama to be." Deja noted, "Our real Mama to be" Ade clapped, "Not people that will be forming high and mighty all around the place as if..."
Gbadamosi rolled his eyes while Deja walked out of the door, "Shh. Can you not shout?" He whispered as he caught a glimpse of Deja's cloth as she shut the door. "Where is Sister Deja going to?" He asked and Bimbo shrugged.
"I don't know oh"
"I need to work with time here and I'm going to need you to call in the Pastors in first. Everyone of them, if I can't see all of them, I'll see them on Sunday"
Deja nods, "Leave it to me Sir, we can't let our future Mama be waiting like that lai she waiter" "We will sort out everything Sir"
"Thank you"
Deja hands trembles as she tried to open her car, she opened up, entered and slammed her palm against the steering. "Damn it! Oh my God, Jesus...." She trailed off in tears. "How can you stand by and watch this happen to me? I feel so humiliated, I feel so ashame, all my work is in vain! Everything I ever did for you, all in vain!"
Tega knocks on the window and then he pushed his head in. He noticed the tears on her face, "No tell me say na Papa case dey make you cry" He teased then she hissed. "Shebi I tell you now... I told you! The way I take vex when I see am ehn! Ehya, I feel your pain. You know say I being dey root for you too cause I no understand how him go leave all the fine babes for this church, leave all these your big breast and yansh go carry one lenge Lenge bonga fish" He paused looking at her in the not perverted way, "See breast way man suppose lie down on top, see packaging. Na that flat thing"
"Can you just leave me alone? Leave me alone!" She screamed then she thought of her next move. She didn't feel like going home, she knew Deja will mock the life out of her when she gets home.
Her only way out was Bella! She has to call Bella.
Kilahi sat on the chair chatting with Sewuese when she noticed some Pastor walk towards her to greet her, they made sure they said at least "Weldone" before leaving.
She knew Gbadamosi had definitely casted the whole thing. Didn't he say on Sunday?
"Sister good evening oh"
"Good evening Sir" Kilahi greeted bowing her head, "Sorry for the delay, its just normal" "Oh"
He didn't even need to ask who or what she was waiting for!
"I hope you had a lovely time"
"Yes Sir"
"My name is Pastor Brandon. Well done Ma" "Thank you Sir and good night" She bowed her head watching the man leave. She quickly drops a message to Sewuese.
Gbadamosi has cast our relationship to the Pastors, everyone is greeting me.
Awwwn😍. Mama the Mama
🙈 God I'm shy, I can't look up right now.
A message from Hilary popped up
Sorry... I'm just seeing your message. I had to turn off my phone. Manny was determined to keep calling. How was church service?
After ten minutes, Gbadamosi finally walked out of the office, he noticed his father still having a conversation with Pastor K but this time, he was seated while Pastor K was still standing. She walked up to Kilahi pulled a seat then he sat opposite her.
"Hey love"
Kilahi blushed keeping her phone in her bag, "Hey." "I'm so so so sorry for keeping you waiting" "It's fine. Sewuese was keeping me waiting" "You smell different" "What?"
"Sorry, there's this perfume emitting from you"
Kilahi laughed on realizing It was the 'Okirika perfume'. She had tried out some clothes in the market. The ones that didn't fit will definitely go through the machine. "Sorry. I went to the market to get clothes"
Gbadamosi scattered his eyes around her, "Sewuese took it home, it's okrika smell. The smell is usually strong, I didn't know it will still linger" She felt so embarrassed.
"Why is your face that way?"
"What way?"
"Like the question bothered you"
Kilahi shrugged, "I'm just wondering how many people must have perceived it off me" "It's nothing deep, forget I asked you. Thank you for gracing the presence of God with your beautiful face"
Kilahi giggled, "Hype man, well done. I needed to see you too" "Well, look at the face while it last" "It's not only your face. Shebi you've casted our relationship up and down... That was how Ade came and whispered Mama into my ears"
Gbadamosi laughed throwing his head backwards. "The Pastors were just greeting me. I know they're pastors cause I recognize some of them from times I've been in the church. From the one that did opening prayer during Valentine's day. I just found out his name is Pastor Brandon. You casted us without my knowledge. You've added to my query list"
"What query list?'
"I came to query you"
"For what now? What did I do?"
"Why were you laughing at me earlier in the morning!"
Gbadamosi furrowed his brow in thought, "Laugh" "When you said ILU and I couldn't respond back" She sheds more light and he busted into a loud laughter. "See! You're doing it again." "What's ILU? It's I love you"
"What happened to take your time?"
He cleared his throat and with a smile he pointed an index finger at her, "Take your time was for the name. Well you can still take your time but still doesn't change the fact that , i love you"
Kilahi folds her hands, giving him a stern look then she rolled her eyes, "You're in church" "What better place to say this than in church?" "I feel that same way, it's just so weird to say. Nice message tonight, funny I was telling Pastor Amazing the same thing this afternoon."
"Funny thing i went to the altar completely blank and then God started speaking."
"Thank you. There was a word for me. Were you really scared to ask me out? It didn't look like you were scared in Anambra"
"I was scared to my teeth. I've always been scared, on valentine's day I wanted to ask for your contact. I just didn't know how to"
Kilahi laughed, arcing her brow, "I would have just believed my assumption was real and you're a real womanizer" "Trust me, when I saw you walk in that dress, I froze literally" "You said it before" "You don't understand the extent to which I froze. That was when I knew I felt something about that girl in red. Ever since then, you've been living in my head and mind rent free"
Kilahi blushed.
"I still remember after the Valentine's program, how I rehearsed asking you out"
Kilahi gasped in disbelief, "It's a lie" "You think I'm playing? I rehearsed It oh. I was going to ask your permission to take you to the inner court of my Father because you have somehow captured my heart"
Kilahi smiled, "Interesting. Permission granted cause we really need to settle this in the God's court cause I'm under your arrest" She replied and he laughed gazing passionately at her. "Nice line, so who's going to bail the both of us out like this"
"As long as it's the two of us there in that court, I don't think we need the bail. Let's just be grateful we have each other, after all his word specifically told us to enter the court with praise. Whatever issues we have, whatever we encounter through the course of this relationship, It will just me, you and our father in heaven"
He nods with a wide smile, "God I love you" He confessed laughing in between his confession. "I love you too" She replied, "No pressure?" "Do i looked pressured? God I love you and I seriously don't know what you've done to me. I'm under your arrest and I don't want bail, let me wanted, I don't care"
Gbadamosi was smiling from ear to ear, he was beaming in smile; a charming smile and the proximity effect sent an intense feeling burning inside of her body. It wasn't sexual, it was promoting some kind of stamped bond within such a short period.
"My favorite part though was the prayer, I don't know why I'm usually excited when it comes prayer charges. It's like this strength suddenly comes up on me"
"You're an intercessor, better go and join your prayer group. You need to join a unit in church, i hope you know that"
Kilahi gasped, "I see what's happening, I thought you said there was no requirements for this vacancy" "Well..." He shut one of his eyes, he didn't know how well to express himself at this moment. "I get your point though." She exhaled. "I don't even know anyone in that church, at least here, I know Usher Bimbo and Ade and the other one that came close to me during the Valentine's day program that frowned this evening"
Gbadamosi laughed, "Sister Deja, you really did a number on her that day" "I did?" "Yes, her wig fell off" "Jesus!! Oh my God! I wanted to complain about how she was carrying face for me but now I know why. Oh my God" She looked around.
"Has she gone? Let me apologize to her"
"Water under the bridge"
Kilahi arced her brow, "I removed her wig, not everyone likes that kind of unveiling abeg. You know how I can guard my wig with all manner of diligence" She said boastfully and he moved his hands toward her hair.
"Don't even try me" She warned sternly then she chuckled moving her chair backwards while holding her wig in place, "Its me you want to disgrace here, I bind you" She pouts and bats her eyes playfully at him. He laughed relaxing his hands akimbo.
"I wasn't going to remove it."
"Oh wow.. You were going to massage it right? I don't trust you. Wayo pastor"
Mr George lifted his hands to Intrude, "Permission to interrupt this session" He said and Gbadamosi smiled, "No problem Sir" Kilahi replied, "Uh... My love, Babe... Meet my Dad" He rose up in respect.
"Oh my..." Kilahi stood up then she shut her eyes in guilt. "Jesus Christ.. I'm so sorry Sir. I didn't know"
"How are you suppose to know?"
"The wedding, hei God! I only met Manny's parents in person. I didn't pay attention to everyone. I'm sorry"
Mr George turned towards his son, "Why is she apologizing?" "Beats me too" "I feel bad, I'm supposed to know my boyfriend's parents and how they look like in person. Good evening once again Sir" "Good evening dear. I was shocked when you sat close to me, I was like, is this not my son's wife?" He asked and she felt even more worst.
"How did you know?"
"I know how all my children's girlfriends look like. It's a small world, I need to know so that we will not get to wake up one day to realize that our son is getting married to his cousin" He joked and they both laughed.
"I should leave you two alone" Kilahi suggested and Mr George lifted his hands in disapproval, "No oh! I think you need to hear it, since you're more or less part of the family already. I just want to tell Gbadamosi here to at least try to come home. I can't tell his brothers to leave Abuja but him; Gbadamosi, you're closest to this place. Find a day to have dinner with us, we'll make it a full family meeting. Invite Teni and Rev Coker, Manny, let's all gather and have lunch like a family. At least you can't say you will be bored, Manny will be there. Kilahi," He called and her heart jumped in fear.
"This is the part I need you Kilahi cause if I know my son so well, he's going to say no. If there's something my son doesn't like, it's been forced into doing something he initially didn't want to do at first"
Gbadamosi tried to maintain a smile, "Babe... Can i have a moment with my dad, I'm sorry" "Oh don't be. Sure" She shrugs leaving and a frown formed on his face. "With all due respect Dad, my answer is no" "People are mocking us, It shouldn't be a thing of concern for me but truly it is if we take time to dwell on it. What Salome said according to your mom is just the truth of the matter. She probably got the news from the neighbors, I don't care to know who it is but people are looking Gbadamosi. Whether we see it or not, people are looking and they've noticed you all have not been at the house throughout the year. We called to have New year breakfast but all you canceled"
"I had a church meeting"
Mr George chuckled, "Really son, Is it me you want to use that on? On your own birthday" "They threw a party in church" "You intentionally stayed away. You all did! They didn't show up for Christmas, at least you did! I hate sounding this way but I want you guys to put yourself in your mother's shoe. She might act irrational atimes but it stems out of a place of love for you all. Feyi that was telling me he might not be around for his own mother's birthday. I just left him for God, I don't have his time yet"
"You can't blame him"
"I know but not coming for his mother's birthday? Haba se wo ti ṣẹ to yẹn nii? Isn't that too farcical? I find it sickening, it's refusing to sink into my ears. Ere, will come to Lagos and flee back to Abuja like a ninja. I just want my family back the way it was 8 years ago. Eight years and nothing has ever remained the same, eight years and we haven't had a peaceful dinner. We can fake happiness and let the whole world believe we are cool but the truth my son is that we are not and sorry to sound like a pessimist, if something is not done. If we don't come together as a family to figure a way forward, it might be the end of us"
Gbadamosi exhales, "Mom doesn't accept Kilahi, i don't think i'm ready to make her go through that opposition yet. It's a fresh relationship, we're still getting to know each other better"
"She will have to someday. Don't worry, I'll talk her into accepting her, you don't have to worry about anything going bad okay? Pick a day out of this week" "Dad, it's a busy week. I have to be at Ogbomoso tomorrow, something urgent came up."
"What do think about Friday evening?"
"Huh.... Sam's exhibition"
"Ah, oto ni oh (That's true). I almost forgot. Your mom and I might be coming. Perfect place for an introduction" He smiled poking him on the arm and Gbadamosi glanced at Kilahi who was now fiddling with her phone while leaning on the wall close to a noticeboard.
Their eyes met and he smiled giving her a signal to come back. Kilahi walked up to the both of them, "I should apologize for keeping you on the sidelines my dear" Mr George apologize, "It's okay Sir. I am not at all offended Sir"
"Please try to convince Gbadamosi into seeing his mother very soon. He hasn't been at the house throughout the year"
"Really?" Kilahi shot a look at Gbadamosi, "Really Dad?" He asked and this forced a grin from his father. "Yes. Please talk to him, he doesn't like people forcing him to do things" "I'll try my best Sir"
"Thank you dear. I should take my leave now, good night dear and welcome to the family" He shook her hands before leaving the both of them alone.
"I'm sorry for asking you to excuse us"
Kilahi folded her hands staring at him, "That's not even what's bothering me right now. Gbadamosi, you haven't visited your parents through out the year?" "It's complicated. We had dinner at my place when Brenda came. That should count"
"That's your place, there's a difference between your home and the home you grew up In. Where you grew up in hold memories, you walk in and you're filled with smile. I get that way each time I enter into the house, that smell of homeliness, that peace even when things are not going well. You're fortunate your parents are alive and you can't visit them"
This pricked Gbadamosi, "I already told you, we don't see eye to eye on issues" "Throughout the year, Gbadamosi, it's March... The second day in the month of March, I know someday I'll be a mother. I'm trying to put myself in her shoes right now, no mother will be happy. Was that why your father came to church? He must have been bothered by it"
Gbadamosi nods and scratched his hair, "Apparently, one of mom's friends visited her and then mocked her for having children that don't visit" "Oh my God" Kilahi felt bad, "None of us has paid her a visit since the beginning of the year" "What about new year's day? That one is always a family thanksgiving thing? And it was your birthday too"
She noticed him look away then she shook her head, "That's not fair, but I want to believe you had your reasons" "Yes I did, the church threw a mini surprise party for me after the new year's service but it was mainly intentional because I didn't want to see her and hear her complain about another new year without a girlfriend or grandchildren"
Kilahi smiled moving close to him, "You can turn things around now. Try to patch things up, let's look on the bright side, there might not be grandchildren but you do have a girlfriend now. That should count as something right?" She asked and he laughed nervously.
If only she knew .....
He scratched his face exhaling loudly, "It's complicated" "You should be happy you have parents, what I'll give to have dinner with my parents again..." She trailed off turning her back at him then she wiped the tears off.
"Hey, it's deeper than you think"
She turned back forcing a smile, "How deep? Fix a day for the dinner, tomorrow?" "I have to be at Lautech for a program" "What? And I didn't know? I don't want to come off as assertive but... Really?" "I'm sorry, It's kind of impromptu, I just found out. A friend called in a favour and I couldn't say no. Life of a Pastor"
"Okay... What about Friday?"
"Sam's exhibition which you'll be my date to"
Kilahi laughed and swallowed hard, "Ask me out first now" "I'm dragging you by force by fire" "Promise you'll find a convenient day" "Ugh! I don't want to deceive you my love. I dont want to go!" He gave a plaintive cry then he pouts and she laughed at him, "You're such a big baby"
"Promise me" She pouts her lips too and he closed his eyes and then opened it with a wide smile.
"Urgh!"
"You know your Dad already asked me to convince you, call it pre-wifely duty"
Gbadamosi laughed staring at her pleading and blinking eyes, "God! How can I resist that look?" He asked and she pushed a tongue out, "Is that a yes?" "Yes" "Yes!" She screehed in joy dancing to no beat. "On a normal day, it's rare for anyone to convince me easily, I would have said no like four times"
"I'm not just anyone am i? I'm your missing ribs. Put the missing in the ribs. That's who i am baby" She replied then she covered her lips looking around the church premises. "I'm still in church oh"
"Now I know why they say women are dangerous." He said to her, his lips curving up.
"Papa Paposh!" Bimbo hailed walking by with Lanre, "The woman after our Papa's house we are greeting you" "Don't tell me you're going to his house?" "Ah Papa! Me I did not always do sina, he too, he will not want to try oshi." She reponded clearing her throat in order to get into a serious mode, "He's just dropping me off Sir"
"What about Sister Deja?" He asked and she gasped, "Sister Deja, the chief usher?" "Rara, the chief Butler. Is everything okay between you too? Do I need to call you two for counselling?"
Bimbo laughed, "No Sir, we fought oh, yes we fought as usual but the fight does not have anything to do with why I'm leaving with Uncle Lanre here."
"My eyes are on you two"
"Papa Lai se satellite" She replied laughed, "Papa, you don't have to worry, i am aware that the omnipotent, omniscience, omnipresence is watching us. I have the fear of God, not like some people that will be doing sina up and down irrespective of the CCTV cameras positioned in heaven. Good night Sir, good night Ma"
Brenda walked into her parent's room to find her mom laying in bed. "Wow, so you're home" "Sorry I really don't dabble in unnecessary traveling like you do" "So I'm leaving tomorrow and you just couldn't come in to tell me goodbye"
"The only goodbye I thought I'll say to you was when you finally leave this house to your husband's house. I can't believe you're leaving for real"
"This time for good"
"O tun n sọrọ (She's still talking). You say it with so much ease!"
Brenda rolled sitting on the bed, "Mom you know you can always visit" "You're only entitled to that right after marriage. Certainly not now!" "Mom.. Can we not argue? I'm leaving tomorrow"
Tears poured down her mom's eyes, "Mom I'm so sorry about the way I've spoken to you." "Do you have to go?" "What's your obsession about me staying back in Nigeria?"
"How many more men will you still sleep with?"
"Jeez Mom! You do have to kiss a lot of frog before kissing Prince..." She trailed off meeting her mother's glare. "But it's the truth. I'll be staying in South Africa for a while, I have to meet with Charlie, she's another friend. I'm telling you now so you'll know my friends"
"Pele oh... Until I call them and they start telling me that you're not in the country" "I travel a lot" "Are they paying you for it? No! You use our mine to fund all your fancy trips around the world as if we pluck money from trees"
"Oh Wait, they don't?"
Her mother picked a pillow hitting it on her arm and she forced a cry, "Not the pillow again. I'm an adult" "Start acting like one! Better get married" "Definitely not to a Nigerian. Once bitten, twice shy" She snapped rolling her eyes then she exhales.
"I'll miss you Mom"
"Wow. This means you'll be gone to a long time" "I'm sorry" She hugged her mother, "I'll really miss you" "Lies!" She countered pulling away then she raised her nose in disbelief. "I'm sure you'll miss your father more"
"True because he's so supportive and you're not"
Mrs Arolowo scoffed, "All I want is to see you in a good home, raising good children. I love you like a mother will" "And I love you too mom" She shaped her fingers into love then she embraced her again.
Deja downed a half glass of whatever mixture the bar tender concocted, she cringed her face from how strong it was! "Can you believe he's with her, like he's with her for real" "I'm guessing that guy.... What's his name, the Tega guy wasn't lying. So he's banging the girl" "I don't know"
"Well, I'm eager to find out. I'll like to know, so he can still play saint and be fucking someone's child"
"If you can see the useless dress she wore. One rubbish wine top with love pattern and one ugly looking trousers like that. Does that one look like a Mama material? I wish you saw how she was doing like he already placed the Mama crown on her head already"
"Ehya..." Bella laughed at her, "A crown you've had your eyes on for five years" "Are you for me or against me?" "I'm neither for you or against you. All these talk about that your yeye Pastor gets on my nerves. I've always known there was something fishy about him! Can we change the topic? He's not my favourite in fact i don't like him at all! Forget about the idiot, he doesn't deserve you"
"I just need someone to.."
"If the only reason you called me was because you're in distress, let me just go home jeje. Why isn't Bimbo here?"
Deja cried, "I am so angry." "Get a grip of yourself! Kini idi ti o n ṣe bi ode bayii? (Why are you acting like a fool?) We're in public, please don't embarrass me." "I've given five years of my life to this ministry and this is how he repays me. Look at me thinking I'll be the woman to sit by his side. I wish you saw the look on Ade's face, I have never been more ashame in my life"
"Forget that rubbish man, ti sinu gutter.. Orrh! There are lots of men in this Lagos that will kill to eat from your cookie jar baby. Cookie jar that you've left closed for only God knows when, when did you even stop having sex again?"
Deja shut her eyes, "I've always imagined him being the one to lead me through that part all over again. I feel betrayed" "You know what you need, a real man that will give you good sex and make you forget that idiot." She bit her lips staring at a man; one of those hairless, beard gang and body building guys that looked like they survive daily by going to the gym.
"That man has been staring at you since we walked in, let him fuck you till you wake up with amnesia. Imagine waking up tomorrow and hearing someone say Pastor Gbadamosi and you'll be like, Gbadamosi who?" She laughed and Deja rolled her eyes.
"I don't know about that. I don't think I want that right now, I just want to get drunk and forget my pain"
Mrs George heard her phone beep then she scrolled down her phone clicking on Salome's message.
It had pictures of her grandchildren! They were so cute!
That's prosperity ❤❤. She looks like her father! She didn't take our light complexion. You should come visiting us one of these days.
Charity is already a big girl! My oldest grand daughter! She'll be six soon, prepare her gift oh😂. I'm still praying you. Don't worry ehn...
Ndoo
Mrs George dropped her phone shutting her eyes in pain.
Gbadamosi entered into his parlor to find Muyiwa laying on the sofa. "I think you should start paying sleeping fees." "Guy.. Welcome back" "Thank you honey? Did you cook the food I asked you to honey?"
"Yes Honey, It's in the microwave, I didn't know when you're going to arrive. Mumu!" He snapped throwing a pillow at him and Gbadamosi laughed throwing it back at him.
"Wow... We're playing pillow fights too, couples goal"
Muyiwa frowned sitting up, "Continue, it's your time to shine. You're back late" "I'm sure you were worried" "I will throw you this pillow oh" "That's always my line because you're always the one getting me angry so... What happened? What's biting your ass?" He asked sitting close to him.
"Are you asking as my girlfriend?" He asked and Gbadamosi laughed and replied, "Our relationship is not defined"
"I swear I'll kill you"
"Touch not God's anointed. But seriously, our relationship is not defined, you're just that person I'm waiting to get serious with life"
Muyiwa scoffed, "Wow, remember we used to be best buds. We were like family and we go way back from London. If not for your decision to..." he trailed off, "I don't judge you... I don't know how you're managing without sex ... Mehn, i celebrate you oh. Don't you even think of it for a moment"
"I am dead to flesh, the only thing I feel is love for Kilahi. If there's anything I feel, it's love and attraction but not to the extent of having unholy thoughts about her"
Muyiwa scoffed, "I won't even survive a minute being you. So how will you guys communicate? Intimate communications, I'm not talking sex, I'm talking about other love languages, holding of hands and all... Cause I'm sure you won't be able to do that in public and you can't bring her here"
Gbadamosi shrugs, "It's the price" "Which Kain hehe price? She won't even know how you house looks until your wedding night. Mehn, all these Christian relationship can be so boring! You don't even have a decent wine in the house"
"I have wine" "Do I look like a baby, shebi I resemble baby for your eyes shey? Zobo is even better"
Gbadamosi laughed, "Why are you here? Sharon again?" "Yes. She called me told me she made my favorite food and happily made a you turn from where I was going to. I was supposed to meet up with Crystal abi is it Cynthia... I can't remember her name that was when it occurred to me that Sharon must be putting something in her food for me." He paused staring at Gbadamosi.
"Guy.... I think I'm being charmed and I really need deliverance. Whatever laying of hands you might need to do, I suggest you do it real fast cause girl yii ti jazz me."
Gbadamosi nods, "What makes you think so?" "I don't think you understand how serious this is. I don't leave hook up for anything. I don't! If I have an appointment, I deliver! No girl will just make me drop what I want to do. No one! I wish you saw the way I made the you turn" He paused butting his fingers.
"There's nothing that anyone can do to convince me that it's not jazz"
"Did you go?"
"Go where? The moment i started seeing clearly, that was when i made another turn to your house. Thank God that your yeye security didn't leave me outside"
Gbadamosi smiled, "Why are you smiling? I've been jazzed and you're here smiling. You know I don't joke about Ikokore right? Right now, half of my mind in the ikokore and the other half is ... I don't even know where it is! I don't know what's going on anymore"
"I don't think she jazzed you"
Muyiwa gave it a thought, "Ehn hen? So what do you think it is?" He seemed really interested to know what his opinion will be. "I think you're starting to like her" He replied as honest as possible and Muyiwa replied with a long hiss. "I'd rather be jazzed"
"Really?"
"I don't like Sharon, period! That's what I'm saying, she's doing diabolic things. I know she's a Christian and all but I'm sure she has given Ogun efo to eat. Perhaps her friends have managed to convince her cause it doesn't make sense how for the first time in my life, a lady will be occupying my space like she's matter. Dude! I don't share my space with a girl for more than three days. It's either that or she has took my name to Shiloh 2021"
His assumption made Gbadamosi laugh even more, "Last year December... I swear I could almost hear something pushing me to get married. You know all these Shiloh prayers" "Shiloh prayer is not jazz"
"All na jazz abeg! I can't continue doing this. I want her to leave but how will I pass it across to her" A call from Manny interrupts his conversation so answered. "What's up?" "Why did Sharon just call me?"
"Shit... How did she get your number?"
"I don't know. She said she has been trying your number, she's sick and worried about you. You were supposed to be home"
Muyiwa shut his eyes, "You know what screw her! I'm not going anywhere, so she can continue to the damn jazz in her food" "She's using charms?" "I think she is"
"Dude. These things usually look like jazz, trust me. Hilary is on a night bus and I can't sleep, I can't think straight. All I care about right now is her safety. Feels like jazz but unlike you, I bring myself down to admitting the truth. That I like her"
"I don't like Sharon abeg! How many minutes Sharon.."
"I think you should call her. She sounded pretty much worried, she was even crying"
"She was?"
"Yes"
Muyiwa rolled his eyes, "Why does she have to be so emotional every time?" He groans and hissed, "Thank you for the info, I'll call her" "Great. Good night" Manny concluded ending the call.
Muyiwa quickly unblocks her number and puts a call through to her. "Thank God! Finally! I was scared! Where are you?" "Huh...." He clears his throat, "No questions remember? I don't owe you any explanation."
"Okay..."
"I was in Gbadamosi's place"
"Okay... I was worried and sick, you should have called. I tried calling you but your number wasn't going through. I was scared, I thought maybe there had been an accident. Baby, I've been praying to God, asking him to forgive me, I was this close to promising that I won't have sex again if I found you"
"Wait... I hope you didn't do that"
"No dummy! Don't you understand simple english, I said I almost dummy!"
Muyiwa laughed, "This one you're saying dummy like this" "Because you're a dummy" She bursted into tears, "Do you have any clue how scared I was?" "Don't cry now" "Isn't it your fault. You didn't even call, if not that I got Manny's number from your phone"
"You snooped?"
"It was that one time you gave me your phone to make a call. I'm sorry for calling him even though I was worried and I deserve an apology too"
"I'm sorry"
"In written form"
"I'll give you an apology in any format you want, oral, written and bedroom format."
Gbadamosi cringed.
Sharon laughed, "You're so dirty minded and I'm tired. I've been too busy making your favorite" "Well, we can also get busy making my other favorite food too. Babe I'm empty" "Drink water" "I will be drinking something alright. Don't worry, it's going to be a full apology and we're going to get physical, fighting and making up under sheets"
"Oh please Muyiwa! Have some decency in my house" Gbadamosi snapped, "Jesus! Are you saying all this in front of Pastor Gbadamosi? What will he think of me?"
Muyiwa rolled his eyes, "I'll be on my way" "I'll heat up the Ikokore" "Sure. Later" He replied ending the call. His gaze met Gbadamosi's own. "Shut up!" "Did I say anything?" "Sharon is way over her head" "And youre not way in over your head too" He scoffed and grinned.
"They say what an elder sees sitting, a small boy" "Elder Gbadamosi, thank you very much. Maybe if you hag grey hairs I would have listened." Muyiwa cuts and Gbadamosi raised his hands in defeat.
He didn't want to push any further before he scares him the hell away. Muyiwa needs to start living responsibly, Sharon seems like the only person to make him live that life!
Bimbo looked out the window on hearing a car pull over, she hissed in disappointment on seeing another person. "Hehehe! Deja! I don't understand how someone can be so thoughless!" She exhaled dialing her number.
'The number you're dialing does not exist'
"Orrh! Does not exist? Number that you guys just it's not available! Odabi pe awon network providers yii ma n mo ti sha! Cause it's only a state of drinking to stupid that make you say that a number that exist does not exist! Werey! Ah Deja..." She snapped looking at the time on her phone.
It was past 10 already! Perhaps the conversation she overheard got to her and she had planned on mocking the life out of her but that moment she was filled with worry.
"Where in the world... Bella! Let me call that agbaya!" She snapped searching for her contact after which she dialed it but she didn't pick. "Jesus Christ!"
Mrs George knelt down in bed, there was a Bible and a journal right in front of her. Her husband sat in bed flipping through his Bible, "I saw her today, physically and she doesn't look like a bad person" "I'll like to pray now if you don't mind." She paused and clasped her palms together.
"Everlasting king of kings, Oluwa awon Oluwa, Jagun Jagun Ode Orun, Olorun Ayo the one that gives joy and adds no sorrow to it, Alaanu, our merciful Father, I thank for life, if there's anything I'm grateful for, it's life and my family. My husband is doing pretty well, my children are alive and healthy, I am also alive and healthy. I don't look a day old and all thanks you you. I am grateful for these good works. Halloweth be unto your name. I don't want to be ungrateful God, you know I don't want to be. Atofokante... You're actually the God I can confide in. People look up to me in church and I am more or less a model and mother figure to many. I don't want to complain again but I'm tired." Tears ran down her eyes then she opened her the journal, "Wasn't it true you spoke to my husband on the first of this year and you said specifically in your word..." She scattered her eyes in search for the writing.
"Yes! You said, this year was a year of joy for I and my family... You said you will put a new song in our mouth, a hymn of praise to You. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in You. You said every of our expectations will not be cut short, you said you will silence the mouth of our mockers, you said will satisfy us early with your Mercy. You told your servant, my husband that you will settle us early. You said our joy will come earlier than expected. This is March and I'm still waiting, your word says that surely there's an end but this movie of frustration is refusing to end. Each year feels like I'm stuck in a loop, in a loop of endless lamentation and nagging and my strength is failing."
Mr George threw a glance at her.
" I know there's a time and season for everything on earth and in heaven but isn't this seasonal movie already stretched? Is my happiness and goal to be a grandmother going to be as stretched as Tinsel or what? Cause this Is just season 7. I need your help! I need you to hear my cry. You saw how Salome mocked me, you saw the image of her cute grand son, a very very cute baby by the way" She shut her eyes and smiled in between her tears. I want to have mine too and I know they're going to so cute. After all you gave me three handsome boys, I'm sure they're going to have pretty and cute children. I've been praying to you, I pray for my children, I pray for them to locate the women that will give them joy but they've found no one yet! Feyi is proving to be stubborn everyday, what about Gbadamosi? He said he found himself a Benue girl. Of course not, I'm not being tribalist.I've done a background check and I'm convinced she's not meant for my son, neither is she meant for the church. But you know Gbadamosi is only doing this to get back at me, it's out of spite against me. This is my request God, put a wedge between those two"
"Ah hannn!" Mr George blurted out, he couldn't help it at this point.
Mrs George opened a single eyes at him then she rolled her eyes and cleared her throat, "Okay fine! If they are not meant to be together, put a wedge, a very big wedge between them. Oh let the relationship not see the light of the day, which I'm sure it's not. Lord you saw what she tried to do to herself. How can a Pastor's wife be that kind of person. She earns too little, she earns 70,000 naira. What's it going to do? I know you're Jireh but Jesus Christ! Let's face the facts, the world has changed, my grandchildren cannot... suffer. I want you to step into this boat and still this storm raging in my family. Please, still this storm."

Mama Ebuka lifted up a wrapper off Issy's body, "It's almost school time and you're still lying down with your cover cloth. Are you okay?" She asked and Ossy cringed, "I don't know how it's doing me. I don't think I can go to school today"

Chinaza folded her hands watching Ossy, "The ossy that I know will go to school even if it means entering into the rain. You must be really sick" She assumed and he laughed to her surprise.
"You lied"
"Technically I didn't. I told Grandma that I don't know how it's doing me" "Why?"
"If I tell you, I might have to kill you"
Mama Ebuka walked in with a herbal drink and he fell on the bed playing sick.

Bella walked up to Gbadamosi holding on to a wine glass, "Hello sexy" She muttered and he groaned and rolled his eyes. It was as if the universe was tempting him that evening. Gbadamosi clenched his fist exhaling silently, "Holy spirit help me" He muttered turning back at Kitty Kat who raised her glass at him throwing in a seductive wink.
