Chapter 16

Unedited

Monday

The journey back to the family became an awkward and long one. Gbadamosi didn't want it to be constrained but Kilahi made it obvious, all the question he has been asking has been left unattended to. "I guess you evaded yesterday when I tried to speak, did you" He asked just after they got down from the tricycle and paid the driver.

She shrugged and they both walked down the sandy street, swinging a bag containing an extra plate of rice he got for Sefa too even though Kilahi refused.  "I knew something was fishy when you rose up just when I was about to make a confession yesterday evening"

"Why are we still talking about this? It's getting weird. Besides.... The sand flies were this close to using my legs for dinner"

"Just trying to satisfy my curiosity"

"Can we not talk about it? Please"

"Don't make it look like I committed a grave sin by asking you out. Or did I? We can still be friends. Don't make it awkward"

"Oh it's awkward already. Your questions are awkward." "Did I commit a sin? Answer the question" "No, you asked the wrong person"

"I didn't" He grinned at her,  "Why are you still smiling?" She paused and he moved close to her,  "Do you expect me to show my emotions? To show how broken hearted I am. Yes my heart has been shredded into bits but it's taking the Holy ghost and the man in me not to cry over this cause I know I didn't make this up." He confessed looking down at her.

Kilahi blinked her tears in walking away,  "I can't wait to go home. Shebi it's sit at home? We should have sat at home" "I would have still asked you out. My mind was really set on it, but either ways you would have said no"

Kilahi's heart broke again.

"I hope you brought identification for Sefa"

"Why are you asking?" She paused and he caught up to her.

"For the flight back to Lagos"

Kilahi raised her brow in surprise,  "No! We'll take the bus, I have money in my account for bus fees for the two of us" "Kilahi" "Sir. I can't accept it" "Why? Because you said no right?. You think I'm only doing this because of how I feel about you but because you said no to me, i should automatically change and go solo. It's not just that! It goes beyond that and frankly i still find it offensive you thought that way but I get your point. It's heart breaking but I'm trying to understand you. Really I am. We can still be friends"

Kilahi shook her head,  "At this point, every isrealite should go to their tents" "After I pay for the flight" "No" "Okay, let me pay for Sefa's own. You can spend 12 hours on the road alone."

"Only me?"

His eyes opened wide in bewilderment,  "What do you want me to say? Your sisters have been through a lot to go through that stress and no, I'm not doing It because I like her"

"I didn't say anything"

Gbadamosi shrugged,  "Who knows what you might be assuming" "It's like you don't know what to use your money for. I don't have the full flight money... Let me check my account balance" She pulls out her phone from her hand bag looking at it  while swinging the phone away from his sight.

"Don't peep" She snapped and a laughter hid somewhere on his lips.

God he likes this girl!

"It's not enough, I'll send and save for recharge card too but It can be a good donation"

"Did I ask you for it?"

"I'll only follow you on the condition you accept my money. At least I know I'm adding something, I'm serious Sir"

Gbadamosi walked away, "Send me your account number! I'm dead serious" She screamed. He entered into the living room seeing Sefa talking to two guys, he noticed her stare into a Bible.

"Wow... So that's what that part was talking about"

"Yes. If you really look the next chapter well"

Sefa turned her gaze at Gbadamosi then she screamed hugging him,  "Welcome back!! How was your outing? I was scared, I thought the Biafrans will catch you guys" She joked and he laughed.

"I bought food" He lifted the bag and she blushed, "Yay!!! Thank you Sir!" She recieved it with joy while staring at Kilahi who walked in sadly.

"Aunty Kilahi welcome back"

"Thanks. How are you?"

"Fine. Brother Usman and David were just letting me in on some points for the Bible Study Abide, Usman is the new Bible Study Secretary, Brother David is the school evangelism cordinator."

"Good afternoon Sir" They both greeted and Gbadamosi waved at them.

"Sefa take oh!" A girl handed a scarf to her" "Thank you Amara" She replied and Gbadamosi laughed, "Is there anyone you don't know?" "That's how she is, there's no one she doesn't know on the street, she's an extreme extrovert" Kilahi rolled her eyes.

"She knows everyone on the street?" He asked staring at her with a smile but she became withdrawn,  "Is everything okay?" Sefa asked staring at the both of them. Even a stranger will notice there's something strange!  "Yes Sefa. Are to ready to leave tomorrow?" "No! That means I'll be seeing my family's angry face. I don't think I'm ready for that drama"

"You'll still have to face them, whether you like it or not"

Kilahi stood beside him, "I'll be waiting for it,  please" She begged walking away while Sefa kept giving him a suspicious look. "Are you sure everything is fine?" "Yes. What were you guys doing... I overheard you talking about"

"Oh" Sefa clapped her hands in excitement.

Mrs Arolowo👆

Brenda laid in bed watching a movie on her laptop to brush away the thought of Gbadamosi and Kilahi. Her mother ran her fingers through her roughly unkempt natural hair,  "You have not said a word since on Saturday,  you've been sad, what's going on? Talk to your mother. Talk to me."

"I don't feel like talking"

"For how long? I'm your mother, speak to me. After your unruly behavior that night. I had to tell them you were stressed because you didn't have enough rest. It was embarrassing"

"Mom can you just leave? I want to be alone"

"You've been alone for too long, Mi o fi e sile, jeki a yanju oro yi, obirin sí obirin, Iya sí omo e (I'm not leaving you alone. Let's talk this out, woman to woman,  mother to her daughter)"

Brenda rolled her eyes "You guys should have just let me leave. I think I would have been better off somewhere else than this shithole of a country!" "Is this about Gbadamosi? Did he do something wrong?"

"Is there ever a time he doesn't do anything wrong? He makes me feel like a hungry wolf that doesn't have food to eat. Right now, I'm wounded. All I just want is for him to come back from only God knows where he went to"

"Where he went to?

"I called his security, he's not home, he travelled" "To where?" "He said Anambra" "For what? Tope never mentioned it to me"

"When I get my facts right. I'll leave this fucking country"

"Well it's your fucking country, forget what your birth certificate carries! You're a Nigerian"

"Mom the only thing you want Is me trapping me here to do what exactly? Be the wife of a Pastor that doesn't give a fuck about me?" "Oh wow Brenda, what a nice way to spit it on my face. Why don't you pass a document that states clearly that it's my fault?"

"Well, who's fault is It cause I know dad will never be this inconsiderate not to consider what I want. You fucking put him up to this" "Me? Oh me? Wow Daddy's girl kaare (weldone). So it's my fault? It's my fault that you two were having sex when you were a teenager"

"Oh please, he wasn't even my first!"

She lifted a pillow up, "Oh he wasn't your your first, let me beat you with this pillow" She hit her arm with the pillow,  "Ouch! That's wrong" "Run along and sue me. Go to Nigerian court and they will let you know that I'm your mother and i have every right to discipline my daughter. There i was thinking he was probably your first, i don't blame you, i blame myself. What's your body count Brenda? Are you even counting again? I'm sure you've lost count. You'll go to South Africa, you'll sleep with a man, Australia, another man, Dubia, another"

Brenda frowned shaking her head,  "That's not fair" "What's fair? You've been having sex since only God knows when."  "If you had been a good mother you would have known." "How dare you? We sent you to acquire the best education while we worked our ass off for you. We should have just brought you to Nigeria to school,  I told your father"

"I'm sorry... That was a bit uncalled for"

"A bit?"

"Well, you're pissing me off! It's not my fault you know! There's nothing I didn't do to get Gbadamosi, there's no seduction I didn't pull out of my sleeve"

Mrs Arolowo laughed agitately,  "Are you listening to yourself right now?" "I liked Gbadamosi in the past, you guys made me fall In love again and my heart break is on you!" "What stupid heart break? I don't even understand where you're coming from? Tope and I have this all sorted out"

"I saw Gbadamosi with another woman at the party. He was smiling, he was happy and then they left together meanwhile I've been trying to get his attention so I could apologize"

Mrs Arolowo picked phone up to call Mrs George "A girl?" She blinked, "Wait.. What were you going to apologize for?" "Nothing" "Brenda Anuoluwabamise, what did you do?" "Nothing! I told him i wanted a bible study session, he went in, by the time he got out, he found me swimming in his pool. Who did I kill?"

"Who did you kill? A man whose heart you're supposed to win in the most religious way. Tope and I had this planned out already, you shouldn't have done anything. Se wo fi sex se e ni ??(Are you obsessed with sex?)  This Is why I want you back cause it's evident that the white cultureless life has entered into your head. You need to have it deleted! Maybe what you need is a deliverance. O ni joko ki iransẹ ọlọrun ṣe itusile fún e(You will not sit down let a Pastor do deliverance on you) cause I don't understand how you can't make a damn sentence without swearing and you think a man is going to consider you as wife material!" She screamed and Brenda gasped.

"Wow... You've just spoke your mind."

"Yes!"

"If I wasn't wife material why did you push me to him at first"

"Cause I wanted him to change you! Yes! I thought if you become a Pastor's wife, one, i'll get to see you frequently and you'll change. How can a woman who is trained speak to her parents and feel comfortable to swear. I'm fucking tired, this Is fuck up! O o ni beru (No fear). You did not see the way you were behaving that day? You were frowning the first day you were supposed to meet him,  as if someone was fighting with you. Nigeria men don't like women that frown."

"Well your everyday smile doesn't really stop Dad from cheating does it?" She snapped and Mrs Arolowo moved back in hurt, her weak hands found her chest.

"Marriage Is just a fluke Mom, what was I thinking liking a man again?" Her phone beeped and she glanced at a message from Kilahi.

Hey Brenda

Brenda rolled her eyes. To think she was talking about Gbadamosi and she didn't fllnch, no confession from her own end. Fucking hypocrite! No wonder she was emphasizing on her focusing on building her spiritual life for herself but not for him!

Fuck her!

About that bible study thing? When do yu think you'll be opportuned for it?

IDK

I supposed that's I don't know. I'll be back tomorrow,  I study at night, I can carry you along

Back? Where are you?

Oh I travelled

Where to?

Anambra

Brenda dropped her phone,  letting the anger soak in then she replied the message:

Let me know when you get back

Okay

"I need to get to the gym" "This late?" "I need to punch something instead of someone. Guess who is in Anambra with Gbada? The bitch I saw her with on Saturday" She rose up opening her wardrobe. Mrs Arolowo left  the room calling Mrs George.

"Good afternoon dear"

"How come you did not tell me Gbadamosi travelled out of the state and that he has found himself another woman? It's so not fair to pull such moves Tope, knowing we had hope on this marriage" She snapped ending the call while Mrs George who was at the salon stared at her phone in shock.

"Gbadamosi?"

Gbadamosi placed his phone on the stool of a window waiting for a video call with Bamidele Jones to connect. The network was bad, he had to move to the open heavens before he could get a good reception.

Reconnecting.....

Bamidele finally appeared with Inumidun in his arms. "It's like your network isn't that strong. Abeg which village you dey again?" "Umuike Village" He replied and Bamidele laughed waving his hands.

"Inumidun, say hi to Uncle Gbadamosi. Say Hi Papa"

Inumidun looked up at him, "Sweetheart, don't  fall my hands

"Hi Papa" She waved her hands and Bamidele smiled,  "God bless you dear" He compensated her with a smile and a kiss the forhead. Gbadamosi watched the network go static again and then back on again.

"This your village ehn! What's up? Did you finally do it?"

"Yes I did"

"That's not an happy face"

"Did he ask her out?" Amazing asked behind, standing behind Bamidele. "Yes I did. She said no." "Ouch." Amazing laughed. "You're laughing"

"Yes. You need to stress small before getting good stuff" She rubbed her hands on Bamidele's hair. "Ask this man"

"Great" he rolled his eyes,  "I had to control the tears in my eyes from falling. I honestly didn't expect it, we were vibing, laughing, having fun moments and then! Brrrrh.. I had to spoil it with proposal"

"Did she state her reasons, women, there's usually a reason and they'll state it. I remember the first time I finally admitted to liking Amazing right in front of her, she stated her reasons and it was quite reasonable"

"She said she can't be a Mama, she doesn't see herself being a Pastor's wife because of her insecurities. What else did she say... I'm trying to remember, yes! She said she's beginning to grow her relationahip with God. Then she talked about Brenda"

"What does Brenda have to do with it?" Bamidele asked,  "Apparently, she knows Brenda likes me. She also promised to help Brenda grow spiritually"

"Oh. That's cute"

"It's not cute Bamidele, my heart is broken in shreds. She's making me regret why I said it. Cause now she's acting weird about it. I even told her to pretend I didn't ask her out so we can go back to the way we were"

Bamidele cleared his throat,  "There's no going back to anything! These woman can he confused and unsure at first" He paused staring at Amazing who arced her brow at him and he faced the camera. "Yes they can be but sometimes as men we need to make them know where we stand before they friendzone us. That's the worst kind of witchcraft in the world and from what you told me,  that was where it was heading to. Baba, take it from me when i say you made a good decision"

"Where is she?" Amazing asked,  "In the Mama's room, that's where she has been staying"

Amazing smiled, "That's just God directing her to how her future will be soon she'll realize It. Put yourself in her shoes Pastor Gbadamosi, imagine you were once single and suddenly a renowned Pastor decides to propose to you. This will completely change her life.  She'll be scared, me too I was scared about taking the step with Bamidele. When it became clear that it was God, nobody begged me to say Yes."

"Gbadamosi, Have faith. If she's the one God is drawing you to, it can't be a mistake. Give her time."

Bella👆

Deja laid in bed swiping through the pictures of Gbadamosi and Kilahi that Tega took. She picked an handkerchief blowing her nose into it. Her phone buzzed:

Vincent calling...... For the umpteenth time!

Vincent's textmessage buzzed in:

I heard you're not feeling fine, can you just pick up? Is it serious? Should I check you up? Are you at the hospital? Have you gone for check up? Can you pick up so I can.... Please? I'm really worried. I have your address but I'm scared you'll pour me hot water if I come. Lol. Take care of yourself, take your medication and bounce back like the strong woman you are.

Deja hissed and mumbled a little complain,  "Just when she heard a knock on the door, she got  up in her big baby pink robe into the sitting room where she opened the door to her friend Bella.

"Who's this ugly ass bitch?" She asked and Deja hissed walking towards a couch then she laid on it. "What happened to you? I got your distress call yesterday but I was really really busy" She paused dropping her handbag on the table.

"Besides by the time I finished all I needed to finish, I wanted to come but when I remembered that the ode you have as a flat mate will be here, I changed my course and headed home where there will be less headache"

Deja frowned, "Where did you go to?" "I and my team were covering a show based on the celebrity event blogger that I am. Give it up for your celebrity" "You're just a rip off of Bella naija" "How does B-E-L-AR Belar Africa, look like Bella naija?"

"You're lucky she's not sueing you from infringement"

"Abeg! It's a free world. It's you the should sue for looking so ugly! Damn!" She stressed sitting beside her.

"You're living the life oh" "We thank God. Gigs here and there, i've been endorsed.  My phone has not stopped ringing"

"Did you go to Dubia again? I saw your post last week"

"Dubia ke? Because my mother has one money farm at her backyard where I uproot money from"

"But..."

"I didn't go anywhere. I stayed in my house for four days, no movement.  You see the last time I went to Dubai,  was the last time" "Jesus!!" "Please... Leave Jesus out of this oh. When I was carrying big luggage, did you think I wanted to go and start family there or I was going to open a boutique there. Babe, I took pictures that will last till the next time I go there"

"Wow... All these fake life for what?"

Bella danced,  "Publicity baby!" "After people will be watching you on licking their lips on instagram and asking God why." "It's these things that makes people respect us, that makes people not argue when we start talking price. I am tired of poverty, I want a new car, I want my own house in banana island. You get?"

"Your ojukokoro (greed) is worst than mine"

"Abeg! Your own is a sorry case, what you want is a stupid man that probably has sexual problems"

Deja scoffed,  "Why will you say that?" "How can a man be around a hot babe and not be aroused? No even a damn erection" She asked and she creased her brow in confusion,  "I'm lost" "Babe... Are you not hot? Are other girls not hot? Why will he be forming all high and mighty? You know why? I sure say the man don carry him prick do ministry"

Deja frowned, "Don't say that" "Don't say what? I'm sure that it's not that the man doesn't want to fuck girls, he doesn't have the tools to, either that or he's gay!"

"Shut up! My Gbadamosi likes women"

Bella mimicks her,  "My Gbadamosi Is likes women! Ode oshi! I, Bella will be this man's undoing cause I'm going to dig and find out the secret this man is hiding. The secret behind his ministry, all those testimonies, fuck it! I don't believe it!"

"Dont insult him, I didn't call you here to insult him"

"Oh. So he's the reason for his useless distress call. Adejare, are you saying I left a meeting I was supposed to have with a celebrity client because of this stupid Gbadamosi"

"Becareful before your mouth catches fire. Besides I'm sure you don't have any client to meet. You won't come if you had one"

Bella rolled her eyes,  "You're right sha but it sounds cool when I put it that way. Clients or not, anything would have been better than coming here to make that your Pastor a topic" "Why do you hate the guy so much? I only invited you once five years ago and you zoomed out of the church one hour later"

"Because he was preaching about me. There you have it!"

"I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Pastor do that"

"Oh... It was intentional" She replied gritting her teeth, "No amount of 'God spoke to him' will make me believe he didn't say thing that intentionally. I hate him with burning passion, after humiliating me....." She fumed tightening her fist then she sighed.

"Stop it! Dont let me get angry with you. You know my anger is bad. Don't speak badly about him"

"Isn't he the reason you're distressed? You had better give yourself brain. I'm sure this man used holy communion to brainwash your head"

"I'm in love with him"

"You're not in love, Kosi lọ jare! (Get away!), Ogbeni you're obsessed. Who dash you love? I was excited when you came back from Abuja. I was like my funky girl is back, it's gonna be fun then you stepped into that church. Changed your dressing, you started wearing rubbish in the name of ushering department. Right from the stupid moment you entered into that damn church, you changed, you became obssessed about that man, that man that has not given you face since the time of John the baptist, John the baptist is good, since the time of Adam!"

"What do you want from me?"

"I want you to get angry, go out there party hard and break the useless celibacy code you have going on cause I'm sure you haven't had good sex since you came to Lagos"

"I'm not in the mood. That wasn't why I called you"

"Why didn't you call that Aunty Ode to come and console you now?"

"Because I've already rehearsed word for word what Bimho will say. You know she can be like a silent bomb"

"What did Pastor Gbadamosi do?"

Deja exhaled, "You know Tega right?" "Who the fuck is Tega? Is he a celebrity?" "He's a worker in church" "That explains why I don't fucking know him" "He's this big mouthed guy in the media department"

"Continue"

"He said something about Pastor Gbadamosi seeing someone..." "Okay.... Continue... This is good news" "How is it good news?"

"Finally you'l get to go back to your senses" "I don't want to believe it!" "Maybe the man has found a wife" "It's not a wife, Tega said he thinks he's doing..."

Bella's eyes lit in interest, "And how does he know?" "He said he saw them, something about him getting her clothes and they left together. I called him he didn't pick up and now, he's currently in Anambra with her"

"Mo mo!  (I knew it) I said it now! That your pastor is an asewo! Asewo oshi!"

"It can't be! He doesn't do those things, haven't you done your research" "Because he has been hiding his tracks damn well. I think I have to be close to this Tega guy"

"Don't you dare!"

Bella arced her brow, "Okay.... What's all this serious face for?" "You know what's annoying me the most? The girl is not even fine, she came to church on Valentine's day. When Bamidele Jones was preaching"

"Oooh, another Pastor I'm hoping to get dirts on"

"Focus! She went into spirit mode, took my wig off, broke my nails" She pulled out her phone bringing out a picture she edited, a collage of her and Kilahi

"Ode!" Bella lets out a hearty laughter,  "You still had the time to do collage editing. That's some ugly ass bitch" "As in... I had questions, babe, look at me, look at everything I have" "Look at your breast, this kpanla does not even have anything." She zoomed in the picture, "She escaped not having breast, what does this one have? I say this your Pastor is blind, even if he sees something good, he will not know." She swiped seeing other pictures of Gbadamosi and Kilahi beside the toilet"

"He took her to the toilet?"

Deja grabbed her phone,  "Tega said he barely stayed a minute. Don't start entertaining ideas" "Anyone that looks at that handsome eyes will think he's good, they won't know he's a disappointment"

"Are you sure there isn't more to your hatred?"

"Abeg! For who? That one? It's you that's wasting time falling for him. How many men have you said no to? There's Wisdom, there's Kunle, there's Jeremy"

Deja passed a book to her,  "Why not write it to save yourself time" "Ode ni o, (You're a fool) I hope you know" "You're speaking to your mother!" "Why don't you pity your mother and her high BP" "Why don't you pity yours too who thinks you're an influencer but instead you're more or less a slut"

"Well, my life is not as depressing as yours. Me on the other hand, I'm having the best time of my life."

"Manipulating and threatening people"

"To get money, I only threaten people I like.  I might be slutty but if slutty takes me to the top, why should I stop? Not like I sleep with just anyone, I sleep with the influential ones and then they hook me up with their wives to be their influencers and their wives hook me up with others. That's the story of Bella that the world doesn't know. Deja I miss the funky you. I'm already a boss on my own, I have my own office,  I have workers, right now I need a chief editor. Come and work for me now" Bella knelt on the couch tickling her and Deja pushed her.

"Abeg shift! Will you pay me 100k per month"

"Ole! (Thief) But we can negotiate oh"

"Not interested." Deja picked the handbag from the table, "This is fine" "Abeg,  Abeg, drop am. I never pay, I carry God and him angels beg you" "You have no shame" "Yes. I don't have shame, I'm not a bag fan, I'm using it to do show. Do you know how much that costs?"

Mrs George got into the car, "Salami drive" She requested then she removed her phone from her hand bag putting a call through to Mr George, "Daddy Gbadamosi..." "Good afternoon dear, sounds like you're angry."

"Are aware that your son Is in Anambra?" She asked and he hesitated,  "Are you?" "Yes" "And you didn't tell me still,  is that how you want to be doing this now? It's alright! Oda naa. If I hide anything from you, don't get angry oh. It's you that started it' She snapped ending the call.

Gbadamosi sees an alert message on his phone, he fought hard not to laugh. He quickly went on WhatsApp sending a message to Kilahi.

I've seen the alert. Are you happy?

Yes. I didn't know how to ask you of you've seen it

Wow.. Now you suddenly don't know how to ask me. Let me not say i regret asking you out cause, i'm still open for a change of mind but can we pretend and go back to how we were

I'm supposed to pretend I have amnesia

Gbadamosi thought deep on what response to give, he had nothing so he went offline.

Kilahi feast her eyes on her phone to know what his response will be.
Pastor Gbadamosi typing......

He noticed he went offline afterwards and tears ran down her cheeks. "Ugh!" She groaned dropping her phone on the bed,  "Kilahi, are you sure you know what you're doing? Why does it hurt? Why do I feel.."

The sisters coordinator walked in and she sniffles,  "Ma, are you okay?" "Yes" "Are to sure?" "No. But I'll be fine, I just need some time alone, I know it's your room"

"Take your time Ma" She nods leaving the room then she wailed beating her legs on the bed.

A message pops into her phone

Her eyes tripled in size, "Huh?". One, that wasn't her complete salary, two, she wasn't due to receive salary till the 13th of March. She has been counting already, she started work on Valentine's day. She felt like they made a mistake so she quickly called Mrs Aisha.

"Good evening Ma"

"Good evening Kilahi, you don't sound good. I hope your sister is okay"

"She is Ma... I just received an alert,  I think there's a mistake somewhere" "What mistake?" "They paid me, I started working this month so I'm only due to receive next month."

"So you want to return it, that's cute"

"Should I call the account department"

Mrs Aisha laughed, "It doesn't work that way. I prefer everyone getting at the same time and same date. I'm sure you didn't receive your full package" "Yes" "That explains it"

"Thank you Ma. I just didn't expect it at all, after all you did"

Mrs Aisha groaned, "Kilahi! I don't mix Favours with business. You've been great ever since your started working with us. I see you doing exploits my dear" "Thank you Ma"

After the call Kilahi quickly removed her mini jotter where she written down basic things she wanted to do after she gets paid. She picked a pen ticking things she' buy and others she'll let go.

She picked her phone making calculations. Her toiletries from deodorant, body lotion, sanitary pad and baby wipes, toothpaste, shower gel and toilet paper alone was already accumulating towards 7 thousand naira.

She didn't even add new price oh, she didn't add shopping to it oh! She needs new shirts! She paused in thought.

It's only that black palazzo I keep wearing oh! Will anybody notice?? She needs office trousers oh!

Kilahi hissed and waved her hands, bend down select naim sure pass, Sewuese will just take me to that her guy! Once I iron the cloth and spray all the perfume in the world to remove the Okirika smell, I'm good to go!

She almost laughed at her thought, it was depressing but.... What the hell? She had to find something to laugh about.

Wait....

Kilahi wait oh....

This one you're making cloth plan and it's sweeting you ..

Won't you give Aunty Mabel and Uncle Adzer something? Tooor!!!

Have they not been the one carrying her burdens all these years? They sometimes pay her transport to work!   Which one will she now save to give Sewuese and Jaiye when she loses the bet?

Kilahi plunged the jotter into her bag, she has been humbled! She knew she needed another source of income!  "This currency does not even have value! Someone cannot even have enough to do big sister. Toor,  someone cannot just be an independent strong woman in this economy. The value of the currency will clip your wings and humble you! Then someone's child will now come and be asking you out. Who dates a dependent woman??? God It's not as if I don't like him, you know I have started developing feelings, what should I do? Please speak to me, I don't want to betray Brenda, I don't want to jump into this, I want to grow first"

Temi laughed hard over the phone on hearing she made a transfer to Gbadamosi. Gbadamosi was on a conference call with her,  Sam and Manny. "Really Temi, is now the right time to laugh?" Manny asked and She coughed, "Sorry guys. And you collected it"

"She would have strangled me"

"Gbadamosi, I'm really sorry" She apologized.

"At least you shot the shot"

"And then i realized there's a hole in the net"

Temi laughed, "There's always a hole in the net" "True sha" Manny agreed, "It's more like you shot the shot but it didn't enter into the net" "Exactly, you know that moment when the basketballer makes a throw and the damn ball circles around the hoop as it though it wants to make entrance only for it to miss" Sam chipped in.

Manny laughed, "True" "Are you guys done?" "Yes" They all answered. "On the bright side, you threw the ball Gbada and that must have taken a whole lot of balls" Sam added.

Temi laughs, "Wait, I don't know which is actually weird, they fact that I'm talking to three guys and there are two balls in that sentence and you guys are not saying anything"

Sam laughed, "Look at our baby Temi whose head I usually pat to sleep,  all grown up and corrupt" "Abi, small girl that year that I always pressed her cheek" Manny agreed. "That's a lie! Gbadamosi say something" "Let's be mature here. I'm actually the oldest here so, i think I wiped her buttocks once when she was a child" He contined and everyone laughed.

Temi groaned, "Real mature. Is this a conspiracy? This is not fair, you guys never, when did ever wipe it? Stop it now! Gbadamosi you too?" "Hey! We have to laugh about something. I've been laughing about the alert since i received it from her"

"Ehya. Only you one, alert on one plate and the hot breakfast properly served by yours truly" Manny pointed out, "Didn't she serve you the breakfast first?" Sam snapped and everyone laughed again.

"You guys are not serious!" Temi yelled.

"I'm sorry" Manny apologize,  "Should I talk to her?" "No!" Gbadamosi, Temi and Sam yelled at the same time, "Not cool!" Sam added, Why will you do that?" Gbadamosi asked, "I think you should give her time" Temi suggested, "She does have a slightly strong reason for saying no. Give her time."

"Temi is right. I know what I saw that day at the wedding between you two. There's a chemistry, maybe she freaked out, give her time to come out of the shock"

Gbadamosi exhaled, "I know. That's what I'll do, she said I wasn't led well but I'm sure it was God so, it doesn't matter what she says, I'll give her the time she wants. Look at me already planning a fast wedding in my head"

"Awwwwn, really?" Temi asked,

"There was this moment i looked at her and I was convinced that this was this face I wanted to wake up to see 365 days ever year"

Manny cleared his throat, "Give her time. I'm sure she'll come around. Take heart" "Who died?" They all asked at the same time and Manny laughed, "I have to go, studio calls. Bye"

"Me too, husband calls"

"Pepper has entered my eyes" Gbadamosi shut his eyes and Temi laughed,  "All of you should go and marry! Shey you're all here bragging about patting me, wiping my buttocks. Who's laughing now"

Manny was coughing from his other end, "I'm married to Art" "Can you kiss Art?" "Yes i kiss my Arts every time, i drew Sewuese's eyes and i kissed it"

Manny laughed,  "I just cringed at something that sounded like yes I kiss my ass every time. And why will you kiss someone's eyes that you drew" "She has the most beautiful eyes. What's up with the whole Atarodo gang thing?" Sam chipped in and everyone laughed,  "Sam is it Atarodo you just destroyed like that?" Temi gasped,  "I'm not doing this again, guys I'm out, we are that we are married have to go"

"We that we are married to studio have to go too"

"Me that I'm married to Jesus and His church. Bye guys" Gbadamosi ends the call and another call filed in from a church member,  "Papa good afternoon oh" "Good afternoon Ma" "It's like yesterday like after three,  you were busy gan oh. I called your number, It didn't go through. "

"My phone was mainly on silent and airplane mode, maybe that was when you called. I'm sorry" "How are you? How's Anambra?"

"Great!"

"Will there be counselling tomorrow?"

"Sure? But it won't starting early, I'll take an early flight down" "You will not rest?"

He chuckles,  "I can't cancel either" "See you then, I have a package for you Sir" "You and your packages" "Abi. Should I cut the suspense? Guess what?" "Is it yam?"

The woman cackled,  "Papa ooh, you've known me oh. My daughter is getting married," "Halleluyah" His face lit up with excitement.  "That is the summary of the whole meeting tomorrow. You said it and God brought it to past. Papa, don't worry, I'll give you the remaining gist tomorrow of how it all happened"

"That's fine. Bless you Ma"

"Amen oh" She replied hanging up and a smile curled up his lips, who would know that deep down he's suffering from heart break.

Another call comes in and he groaned answering it,  "Good afternoon Papa" "Good afternoon Funbi, how are you?" "I'm fine, I'm in school" "Is ASUU not on strike?" "They are on strike Sir that's why I am like blown away Sir"

"Okay.... What happened?"

"Papa, the weirdest thing happened, I was at home reading the devotional for today. I didn't read early cause I was baby sitting my nephews. Then the spirit of God just ministered to me and said, why don't you take a stroll to school see if the management will open since there's strike now. It didn't make sense but then I remember how you always talk about obeying the voice of God. I went to school, lo and behold Papa, I saw a fresh a score sheet pasted on the board, with my reg number on it." She paused in tears.

"Papa, my missing results are out. I had an A and B. There was no other name there, just mine. People in the department are asking how I did it, they want to know if I slept with the lecturer to get the result"

Gbadamosi smiled,  "I told you God will do it" "Thank you Sir. I've been screaming. My testimony is sure on Sunday" "I'm happy for you" "Thank you Sir, God bless you for always praying for me and the family"

He smiled exhaling, it was nice listening to those testimonies. If only his own testimony said yes to him. He chuckled to himself then he heard it expressly.

Before Sunday....

Gbadamosi smiled looking up, "Okay"

Kilahi was restless! Her peace had been taken away. She couldn't participate in house activities, she stayed outside on a stone chatting to get her mind off Gbadamosi.

😭😭😭😭😭

You said no to him, why are you now crying for me?

Kilahi drops a voicenote, "Don't say that... I need a hug right now"

Sewuese drops her own voice note,  "Babe.... You knew you liked this man, you now said no, now you're crying, what do you want me to do? Or what do you want me to say?

She dropped a voice note,  "I don't know, toh,  it's like I should go back and change what I said"

"Then do it!"

I can't!

🙄 See!

One,  I can't be anyone's Mama, Sewuese you know me. You know what I've battled with

Thank God you used past tense. Babe, you've grown these past few weeks. I look at you and I dont recognize you any more. I believe in your ministry

He's ten years older than me

Now you're just bringing up flimsy excuses!

There's the Brenda factor too. I even chatted her out of guilt

Abegi! Where are you?

Outside the house. They're having bible study Abide, it's compulsory for everyone to attend

Must they make everything compulsory???

It's the house rules but I wasn't feeling okay so I had to leave

A message popped in from Twinnie Hilary

Hey Twinnie

Are you crying because Nigeria money has no value of because you said no?

The both of them😭😭

Are you not the one who said you're not doing? Why are you crying?

I'm going through a lot right now, I can't look at him in the eyes

Ehya, look at his nose then

😩😩
Why are you saying Ehya?

What do you want me to say? I've been going through my alot too

Oh. Sorry for dumping on you. What happened?

I spoke to Ossy through Manny

Oh no, don't tell me she found out

She didn't, If she finds out, only God knows if it won't be one year this time.  She thinks Manny is Mr Achufusi, Ossy's Art teacher

Really? Did Manny fake an ibo accent?

For where? He has the worst Ibo accent ever! 😂. It was nice hearing my boy's voice, I didn't even want to let go of the phone

I'm sorry Twinnie. Don't worry, I'm hopeful you'll get him back. Remember that word that came on Sunday about something that has been lost for seven years and it's coming back to you? Why don't you take the word as yours, grabbed it. I'll be praying,  God has to do something. You'll get your boy back, I have faith

Awwwn. Pastor's wife

Stop it!😭

Shut up jhoor! The anointing is leaking from you.

Personally, I can't wait to see him too

❤❤
Thanks. See why I love you.
See Babe, follow your heart. Don't try to please anyone, this Brenda girl you're talking about, all these things you're listing... To me it's ihe efu,  that's rubbish in igbo.

Hilary drops a voicenote: Don't displease yourself to please anyone in this life! Take it from someone that has gotten married before. Human beings cannot be pleased, the only sad part is that I lost my husband but, it was love, I saw it,  I knew it and I jumped at it. I don't regret ever meeting him, I have never regretted a single night I spent with him, I've never regretted getting married to him because he was my choice. If you love Gbadamosi, don't alter your choices because you're reconsidering another person's opinion. If you know in your heart of heart that you like him and you know deep down that he does. What am I saying? The man has already proven that! Just say yes to him. I want to see you happy "

Kilahi exhaled.

That evening, Sam turned on a video chat to catch up with his personal assistant after a busy day. "Good morning Sam" "Good evening Tess" "True, it's evening there. How's Nigeria?"

"Great actually?"

"Where you abducted by aliens or something cause for a moment I thought you had been kidnapped"

Sam laughed.

"I've left you a hundred voicemail! Don't they listen to voicemails over there? What about your voice notes?" She had placed her laptop on a kitchen counter while he watched her fixed herself a cup of tea.

"I called right?"

"Actually, what is required is a one-on-one discussion"

"The exhibition is this week" "Exactly. Thank God for thank cause the street tour has been approved. I already fixed a meeting with the African American Artist from Philadephia,  the Quabena Tedson"

"When?"

"Next week Monday" "What??? Who asked you to?"

"That's pretty much of my job as your friend and PA"

"That's too early... Move it"

"No can do. The original plan was to leave immediately after the..."

"Yes Yes yes,  I know the original plan"

"But what?"

"I found someone, a girl"

"That's weird... Tell me you're not dating her"

"I am"

Tess groaned,  "Are you kidding me?" "What's wrong about it?" "What's wrong about It is that you're going to be unfocused and your heart is always going to be in Nigeria, we have a lot of distraction coming from that country as It is.  Your friends, the gallery. That means, you're going to be looking for reasons to leave your job here. Sam, this is a height of your career,  you can't let this distractions keep coming in"

Sam smiled,  "It's a good distraction" "Sam! You can't date her. For once be rational" "Don't speak to my future wife that way. She's the mother of my children" "Wow.... Are you sure she hasn't touched you with some juju. I heard they do that to a lot of white people there"

He laughed hard, "You can be rest assured that I've not been jujued" "Even if you were you wouldn't know. It's been barely three weeks. You're not vaguely interested in women and I'm supposed to believe you've not being charmed"

"Maybe by her charms. I met her on Valentine's day, i guess Cupid was on duty" He explained and she laughed rolling her eyes. "Can you bring her here so you can be focused? Do whatever you want, get married to her but I want your full attention for these three months,  April, May and June"

Sam smiled then he groaned in disappointment.  "Can't you move the meeting from Monday" "No." "How am I supposed to tell her?" "Figure it out yourself. Can we talk business now?"

Kilahi flipped through pages of 'Who switched off my brain' only to get distracted by the sisters coordinator who was groaning in frustration. She had a book and a calculator in her hand. It was past 9, shouldn't she be asleep? "Are you okay?" "I can't wait for Federal government to pay. It's end of the month already and we're out." "Oh... So you carry all these burdens on your head?"

"What can I do?"

"Being a Mama Is not easy. I can't do it"

"It's not, but if God chooses a person for a job, he gives he grace to fulfil the job. Paul speaking in the book of Corinthians. But by the grace of God I am what I am. And His grace toward me was not in vain. It is by grace bestowed upon us from God. God doesn't make mistakes, If he puts something in your hand Ma, if he's choosing you to do something that's is his will. Just after acceptance of that will, you begin to enjoy grace. I never had the capacity to do this, I never thought i did until the responsibility came. I don't know why I'm being led to say this but whatever God is calling you for, his is sufficient for you to accomplish it. Just believe it"

Tuesday

1st of March 2022

Good morning Word Founders, if you're seeing this it's because it's a new month. God says this month is pregnant with possibilities. It's our month to unlock possibilities so as you go on with your daily activities, we are to become submerged into this reality! Have a great day.

PS: I will be available for counselling today

He posted on the General church group.

Amen

Amen🙏

Amen!!!!

Amen🔥🔥

Happy new month all

Mrs George felt a kiss on her neck, she turned opening her eyes to her husband,  "What?" "Happy new month and happy birth month to your my darling" He greeted and a smile curled her lips. "Thank you. Are you trying to win my heart after yesterday?"

"Yesterday is a day of the past, all that matters is today and the future" He embraced her and she exhaled, "Temitope George, I speak blessings on you this day" "Amen" She whispered.

"This month is loaded with blessings"

"Amen"

"May God crown our family with greatness"

"Amen"

"By the time we'll be celebrating yet another birth month, we'll be doing it with the sound of grandchildren" "Amen" She replied bursting into tears then he pulled back looking into her face, "You're just as beautiful as you were years ago, you're just that 21 years old girl I fell in love with here in Lagos. I had to rush and get married to at 22,  remember? By this time 38 years ago, we were already married"

"January"

"And then we waited to settle in the UK before you got pregnant in April. You know I didn't want to waste time but you were being calculative when we finally had Gbadamosi on the first, I was so happy we had our First Issue on the same month we got married"

"38 years, no grandchildren" Tears trickled down and he wiped her tears smiling at her, "Next year when we'll be celebrating your birth month, I'm sure all our children must have had children" "That will be a miracle but let me just say Amen to it. Amen"

Gbadamosi called Brenda, "Good morning Brenda" "Good morning,  wow I feel honoured that you finally had the empathy to return the calls" "I'm sorry, I've been busy" "Doing what Gbadamosi?" "Wow... You just called my name in full, you're really angry"

"I'm not just angry bada, I'm furious. You dissed me the entire Saturday and ran off with Kilahi"

Gbadamosi kept quiet,  "You thought I didn't see you." "The only explanation I owe you is why I didn't respond to your message. I didn't diss you at the party. I didn't want to speak to you after what you did" "What is she to you? Why did you two go to Anambra?"

"Oh Jesus. She's the woman I'm in love with, Brenda, I'm sorry we didn't work out,  it's just not you"

"Screw you Bada. To think you were acting all holy with me yet you're messing with her over there. You two are meant for each other. Bunch of fucking hypocrites!" She snapped hanging up.

Bella's phone buzzed while she slept in her room. She groaned in between her hang over and mumbled some complains. She searched blindly for the phone, then she answered the call placing it against her ears. "Hello?" "Are you still sleeping?"

"No. Good morning Ma. No, I'm awake, who am I on to"

"Okay.... Neola Fapson"

Bella narrowed her eyes,  "Oh. Wow..." She feigned not bothered and excited "Yes. I um... I'm currently planning one of the biggest party of the year and I was wondering if your colomn or blog can cover the event. I know you're busy and all, I saw what you did for the Bello family and I absolutely loved it and I made a few inquiry and drew my conclusion. I'll like you to cover the event from publicity and everything hype"

"I pride in my job"

"I just thought if you can squeeze a time in your schedule today?"

"Today? I have a busy day"

"Oh boy. What are we going to do?" "I'll call my PA and ask if she can squeeze something out" "Oh. Preferably by eleven o clock, I'll really appreciate it but if you can't I'll ask another"

"I'll get back to you" She replied hanging up then she gasped,  "Which kain useless PA I wan call?" She asked calling the number,  "Mrs Neola" "Yes" "Looks like that time might just be a perfect time"

"Super. I'll send you the address" She screamed. "Fake life is paying the bills baby"

Mr Arolowo👆

Mr Arolowo knocked on his daughter's door, he was clad in his gym wears "Is it safe for me to come in?" "Come on Dad, don't be silly!" She screamed still in bed in her nighties. "Are you heading to the gym?" "Of course I am. What's wrong with Daddy's girl?" He sat on the bed running his fingers on her cheek.

"Nothing"

"Your mother told me about your little argument. I arrived too late, I heard you were asleep, I didn't want to wake my princess from her beauty sleep"

"Gbadamosi"

"You know what? Forget that boy! Forget the fact that we almost made the mistake of joining you together with the fool. No woman deserves such suffering" "What about Mom?"

Mr Arolowo rolled his eyes,  "What are you saying?" "Don't pretend you don't know what I'm saying?" "Hey! Your father is an attractive man and these ladies can't keep their claws off me. They're trying to destroy my family but we're still standing strong. You're the only sugar girl in my life, feel free to call me your Sugar Daddy"

Brenda laughed pushing his hands off,   "Iew!" "Forget that boy! He doesn't have sense. Do you want to take a trip to Paris? Wheredo you want to travel to this time my beautiful explorer? And when?"

"I don't know.... As soon as possible"

Gbadamosi waited outside for Sefa and Kilahi. He noticed Kilahi get out clad in the aso-ebi from the wedding party. He arced his brow in surprise, "Sorry for your wasting time, Sefa is still greeting the whole world. Sefa!" She screamed looking into her bag.

"I don't want to forget anything" She walked past him and he looked behind her for microseconds, he realized the hole had been sewn already. She caught him before he took his eyes off.

"I was checking to see..." He trailed off, he had to explain himself.

"If you'll see something pink?" She asked and he chuckled,  an endearing smile followed, "Something like that" .  Her heart skip a beat, *I wish I can forget that day. Wearing this cloth just brings the memory back. I only brought one cloth for myself, I have no choice."

"I understand"

"I'm sorry for wasting your time"

"Kilahi"

The President, General Secretary and  house members stepped out to bid them farewell.  The Sisters Coordinator walked up to Kilahi, "Ma, I couldn't help but notice an alert on my phone"

Gbadamosi turned his head while Kilahi held her hands,  "It had your name on it" "It's nothing,  I'm even a shame of the amount I sent. It's nothing compared to the help you've been rendering to us. The free food even when there's no food,  God bless you"

"No. God bless you Ma, just as you made me smile this morning. This month will bring smiles to your face" "Amen"

Mrs Coker's phone rang and the voice she heard was her twin's voice,  "Happy new month and happy birth month to us" "Thank you. I thought you were not going to call" "You know I'm the mature one" "I'm the mature one actually, I don't go around embarrassing myself in public. Our personalities are quite different, I'm classy, you still act like a village woman, I'm beautiful.."

"Don't complete"

"You're beautiful too. Happy birth month. Have your children called you?" "Gbadamosi and Ere did, Feyin on the other hand" "Shouldn't you be rejoicing? My children have not called me. Gbadamosi and EreAdura have called "

"Sorry. I'm sure they will"

"I'm not holding my breath"

Emerge Galleries

Sam laid on a sofa bed sleeping. This phone rang and he smiled answering it,  "Morning beautiful. I waa dreaming of you" "Lies!" "You should know that I don't lie, I waa actually dreaming of us"

"Uh.... Is it a good dream?"

"Any dream with you in it is a good one" He confessed, "What happened in the dream" "I needed saving and you stepped in to slay the dragon" "Oshey, that makes you what? The Prince in distress and me the" "Princess charming" They said in unison.

This was followed by a giggle,  "Even your laughter sounds cute. Actually, it dream wasn't about any dragon. I dreamt that I woke up looking for by my side and they I saw you by the window soaking in the morning sun on your face. Then you looked at me with that sweet smile on your face and then my heart slowly raced, I couldn't believe how lucky I was to end up with an African Queen"

Sewuese exhaled,  "Are you whineing me?" "No. I think we were married or something. You had my favourite shirt on" "You have a favourite shirt?" "Yes I do, it's my lucky shirt" "Wow"

Then the thought of leaving flashed through his mind. He wasn't sure how to tell her, he didn't expect it to be so soon. "Are you free tonight? I was wondering if you can come over to the gallery. I've got something to show you"

"Okay. I'll drop by after work"

"Perfect"

Alade got out of the bathroom dripping with water and Temi pointed at him. "You'll get everywhere wet! Stay there and get dried! Use the rag too" "Women!" He groaned standing on the rag while wiping his head dry with a towel.

"Today is Mom's birth month"

"Oh. Oh shit! It's true, have you called her?" "No. Has she called me too? No! Let me enjoy my honeymoon in peace Do me I do you man no go vex"

Alade motioned towards the edge of the bed picking up his phone,  "It's not fair, you've never missed it. Never,  no matter how angry she makes you, you've never missed it." He dialed his mother in law's number putting it on loud speaker.

"Hello" He heard her voice echo,  "Mummy Mummy, good morning Ma. Happy new month" "I wish you the same" "How are you Ma, how was your night? I hope you dreamt about us and our baby cause I can swear on anything that your grand children are forming in Temi's womb, twins"

Temi and her mother laughed, "I know you have twins in your lineage and we also do. So, I'm quite positive that twins are growing. Before your birthday, I'm sure there'll be good news. Happy birth month Ma, from my wife and I."

"Has Temi gone dumb?"

"Temi" He called out and she rolled her eyes in tears, "Maybe I would have called if you had done same" "Why are you angry?" She snapped then Temi walked out of the room.

"You had better tone that voice"

Alade cleared his throat, "Um... She left"

"Happy new month" Manny said to Hilary while she was on a queue to enter into the BRT. "Good morning and Happy new month to you" "Why is that place noisy?" "BRT queue"

"Oh. I can't remember the last time I entered that thing"

"God when oh, one day I'll say that too"

"I'm serious,  I entered when it started. When they still turn AC not now" "The country is hard" She laughed,  "How are you this morning?" She added,  "Great, I woke up thinking of my mother"

"That's a good thing"

"It's her birth month"

"Oh"

"It's a tradition to wish her happy birth month throughout this period till her birthday which is on the 27th of this month" "Mothering Sunday" "Yes" "She throws parties but I heard this year's own will be the loudest"

"You heard? Aren't you her son? Once in a while you'll ask. It will not take anything from you. You're doing your part as a son, after all she gave birth to you. Pastor Gbadamosi was right, this month is a month to celebrate mothers generally, when the opportunity arises. Have you called her to at least wish her happy new month? I've called mine,  she tortured me a  bit but who cares as long as we're doing the right thing and it doesn't have to stay on our conscience. We all have conscience, I'm sure that was why you woke up thinking of her"

"I didn't feel like it cause I didn't know what she was going say"

"Just do it take it out from your chest, you can't have two mothers oh. I hope you know" "Not when your mother is a twins. It's an automatic implication"

Hilary laughed,  "Tah! Stop trying to distort my flow!" "Your boy is motivated Ma" "Oya call her, it will not remove the A or Y from your name" "Technically, my name has no 'Y', it's Maniola Coker" "Then call the mother that gave you the name"

"Techically, dad named me"

"You better use that Techincally to call her"

Manny laughed,  "I've heard you. You've given me small boost"

Hilary sighted the Albino guy from the other day then she laughed as memories poured in, "I just saw that Albino guy right now, the one talking down on me that day" "Ahhhh, your boyfriend"

Hilary laughed moving with the queue, "This guy, you're not serious, which one is my Boyfriend again. Tell me this isn't some sort of distraction from doing the right thing. You had better call your mother"

"I will. I got the message you'll be sending another person to do the finishing" "Yes. My boss wants me to do a job personally, my services are the best" "Ahh... See the queen hyping herself. Who would have thought ehn! That she was trying to commit suicide"

She pushed her tongue out entering into the BRT, she pressed her card against the sensor before walking in. "I wasn't thinking. Depression is a bitch" "Damn right It Is. Would you like to maybe stop over later in the day so you can talk to Ossy"

"Awwwn. That's tempting and thoughtful of you. Depends on the work I'm doing sha; I'll like that. Now end this call and call your mom and her twin too!" "Yes Ma. Have a nice day, break a leg,  just don't fall off the ladders"

"Have a nice day too. Don't go casting people's matter on air"

Manny clapped his hands,  "Well done. Well played. Bye" "Bye bye" She replied ending the call then she smiled sitting with a woman. "Good morning"

This woman was beginning to take space in his heart! Manny groans  looking towards Muyiwa's direction. The guy was nursing an hang over on the sofa. "Why does that sound like the voice of a man that's in love?" "Because it's a voice of a man that's in love"

Muyiwa rose up slowly,  "You guys want to leave me alone. I thought we were in this single hood thing together now. Bachelors till we die" He asked laughing, "You and who swore oath?"

"Who's the babe? Urgh!" He laid back,  "Hang over is a bitch. I'm just happy I remembered your address" "It was my phone number you called, I picked you up"

"Who is the babe? Do I know her?"

"Her name is Hilary, Hilary Nnamdi" "Your mother that i know will roast you. She's not Yoruba" "Who cares about what she thinks? Personally I don't" "What's stopping you"

"The fact that she'll put up a fight and Hilary doesn't deserve that, she has been a lot of drama with the mother of her late husband and her son drama"

"Wait... She's a widow and she has a son. Forget it, your mom will freak out!" "She can freak out all she wants, how does it concern me? It's the drama that I don't want to put her through."

"She fine? Is she your regular curvy and busty chic?"

Manny smiled, "She's more than regular, she's special" He replied dialing his mother's number,  "Good morning Mom" "Good morning,  I see you finally remembered my number. I thought you already deleted it from your contacts"

"Happy new month and happy birth month to you"

Mrs Coker blushed,  "Thank you. You remembered," "I can't forget even if I tried to. The big 60! How do you feel as the old Mama youngy that you are. Sweet sixteen Mama" "I'm rather grateful and disappointed at the time that at this age, I don't have grandchildren"

Manny rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure at this point you're planning on ending the call"

"You bet I am. Bye Mom" He ended the call and Muyiwa laughed,  "Your calls with your mom usually remind of sex with Sharon. Always short!"

Gym

"So you just came here to what advise me to have the surgery done" The owner of the gym said to Ugo who had dropped by to check on him, "You don't understand how serious this is" "I say I no allow any male doctor touch my stuff"

Ugo drew on a paper,  "Imagine this Is your scrotum" "No dey draw something on top book dey call am my scrotum, no be my scrotum" "Imagine this is your scrotum" He continued not paying attention to him.

"I never marry. What if I don't have children any longer?"

"Baba, it won't have any effect on your sperm"

"I no gree. My village people strong"

"Na this village people mentality don make that swell pass as e suppose dey. You need to get a hydrocelectomy done" "Abeg that name dey sound somehow for my ear. I no wan hear am"

"You can't be the owner of the gym and be forming fit when youre not fit. How you dey sit down sef?

"Oya... This Hydro whatever tomy, na woman go do am for me?

Ugo walked out of the office letting out a long hiss a dwarf walked up to him, " Doctor, abeg how can you diplomatically tell someone that his armpit is smelling. I don step out of that room hundred and six times"

Ugo laughed glancing at Brenda, "How you take smell him armpit?" "The thing day touch me for ground level, make you know say the thing worst" He joked trailing his eyes to Brenda.

Brenda approached the punching bag again and brought her fists up. She smacked her knuckles against the bag was satisfying, but it barely moved. She punched it again and again, even kicked it a few times, venting some of her emotions.

"I wonder who she dey picture the punching bag as"

Ugo smiled, "I really don't want to be the person." "No look the babe side oh, na Aristo Babe, she come with her Sugar Daddy. See the man dey waka go her side"

Mr Arolowo stretched a bottled water to Brenda,  "Take a rest, no matter how much you punch the damn bag, it's not going to get to Gbadamosi" He laughed, "Thanks Dad." She exhaled holding on to the bag before receiving the water.

She exhaled catching her breath, "Am I not good enough?" "Are you kidding me? You're.. What do you people call it these days, you're a spec!" He comments placing his hands on her cheeks.  "He choose her over me! I'm just so angry.... I'm so angry Dad. I have never been so angry about anything in my life, I've never imagined myself fighting over a man but it's my head and I just feel like I won't have that peace if I don't give that hypocrite a peace of my mind"

"See them see them! Girls no dey get shame oh!" The guy pointed and Ugo dropped his hands,  "Why are you pointing?" "They'll be doing sugar Daddy with someone old enough to be their father"

"It's not your business. Abeg I don go"  Ugo answered leaving the gym then Lota called him. "Tell me you carried the school bag" "It's in my car" "Great! She just touched down Lagos, currently heading to the office. Call her"

Ugo rolled his eyes,  "No wahala"

I'm in Lagos, I'm heading the office
*to

Kilahi messaged Brenda on whatsApp while in the car that Ade drove.

Sefa leaned against her, "Please don't go to work. Who will follow me home?" "You know the way nau" "I'm not talking about that, how will I face Mom and Dad alone" "Dad is not home yet"

"I'm scared"

"You have to face them sooner or later and take whatever punishment they give to you. As for me, I have to get to work." "I'm scared of public transport, please follow me"

Kilahi brought out her phone from her bag,  "I'll order uber and give you cash"  "I can help" Gbadamosi removed his wallet. "No!" Kilahi snapped,  "You said you didn't have much" "They paid me yesterday afternoon"

Gbadamosi gave Sefa a look, "And you dare say nothing happened" She whispered, "Aunty Kilahi, maybe you should consider" "He has done a lot, will sell my liver to pay him back. I'll pay an uber so you can feel safe now! I know you're scared but I missed work yesterday, I can't miss it today, I'm sorry"

Her phone rang and she answered it even though it was a strange number. "Good morning" "Good morning?" "Good morning, nice voice. Ugh! Sorry, you must probably be wondering who the stranger is"

"Who am I speaking with?"

"The name is Ugo, I'm Lota's brother"

Kilahi laughed and Gbadamosi glanced at her,   "Oh my God!" "I promise that I'm not stalking you" "Lota gave you my number" "Yes. She spoke highly of you and it's not everyday my sister speaks that way of someone. I knew I had to meet this sweet lady in person"

"Whaaat? I'm not sweet" Kilahi giggled and his eyes remained glued to the her, who was making her giggle like that?

"Really? I heard amazing things"

"I'm sure she was exaggerating"

"Why don't you make me judge for myself? What do you think about a date"

"A date?" She blurted out when she realized she has messed up,  Gbadamosi scrunched his brow in surprise then he cleared his throat as though he was giving her hints as to what her response should be.

"Yes, a completely friendly date"

"A friendly one sounds fine"

He almost rolled his eyes, just because she used 'one' doesn't cover it! There's nothing like a friendly date! Who is this guy???

"Uhm.... When?"

Why is she asking when,  just after breaking his heart????

"Today"

"Today is not a good time"

"Oh but I can see you today right? Lota gave me your bag. It's an excuse to see you but I guess it's unavoidable."

Kilahi smiled, she hasn't met the guy but she was already liking his personality,  "Okay, you're truthful" "I need to grace your day with this handsome face"

Kilahi giggled again, "Okay.. Do you know where I work?" "Yeah I do. Lota gave me the full information" "See you then Ugo!" "Super!" He ended the call and she chuckled.

When she looked left, her gaze met with Gbadamosi. He had a lot of question in his eyes, he was disturbed too.

"Who was that?" Sefa asked and Kilahi scratched her neck,  "Somebody" "Obviously,  you were not talking to a farm animal. Who is this somebody?" "You don't know him" She replied meeting Gbadamosi's steady gaze.

She'll prefer him speaking that that look anyday!

"What?" She asked and he shrugged,  "Nothing," His voice went high pitch,  "Absolutely nothing"

Kilahi and Sefa got out of the car after a while. Gbadamosi was left with Ade. "Thank you for squeezing time out of work for this" "You're welcome Sir. What happened in Anambra? You guys were chummy in Sunday, today you didn't even speak like friends. Emi naa gan, I didn't know what to say. Did something happen? Or is this a case of whatever happens in Anambra, stays in Anambra? Didn't you shoot your shot?"

"Where should I start from?"

"Anyone, in no particular order"

"Let's just say it was the shot shooting that led to the whole awkwardness. God said it's her and she said it can't be her. I can't force her" "Ah, Papa, if God has said it, forget about rit, it's settled. And who's that one asking for date? Is it her date of birth, wo, he should not give himself hope cause our Mama is taken. Las las the man will chop breakfast even more than the one she served you"

Gbadamosi chuckled,  "Did you hear the way she was giggling? The man must be so funny and it's like it's the first time. It's obviously the first time"

"Papa, you know when the Bible was talking about the judge and the stubborn woman?" He asked and Gbadamosi laughed,  "What does that have to do with anything?" "Consistence and determination sets the toll for good results. That's your quote Papa. Don't give up Sir, she's a good person with a beautiful soul, I might not have known her for long but it's not hard to know a good woman when you see one. I'm being too serious right?  I hope I'm not crossing my boundaries"

"No"

"Thank God cause I kukuma don't like passing boundaries, it's flight I make use of"

"The look on her face when I confessed to her; she freaked out. Just when I thought we were in sync"

"You two were actually in sync. You know how girls can be now! Girls? They are like NEPA, sometimes even with you prepaid, they'll still be taking light,  who is it paining? Shebi if they leave the light, it's my money that will be going then I'll have to recharge again"

Gbadamosi laughed,  "In other word, they are unpredictable" "Yes!" Ade exhaled, "This is a new month you said it's pregnant with possibilities. Anything is possible, even today gan! God can open her eyes to say yes to you. It's the month of march, we are marching forward and not backward" "That's the meaning of her name"

Ade smiled shivering, "Emi gbe mi! (Ive been carried by the spirit). I can prophesy now. Papa i can hear the spirit say... E fun! E fun E fun (Give him),  Gift Ade the car."

Gbadamosi shook his head laughing.

"Papa, you're not saying anything"

"Ade!" He screamed,  "You have not heard well, clean your ears well" Then he messaged Kilahi.

You apologized for wasting my time earlier on, i wasn't sure if you meant the time I spent waiting for you or my time in Anambra. If it's the later, then here's my chance to correct that impression. There was no time wasted Kilahi, I cherish every moment. Every minute and second i spent with you made up hours of pure joy and happiness

💝

Hours I still can't get out of my head.

Don't go on the date with that guy.... He typed then he erased it.

Happy new month and have a blessed day ahead
