Kapinga POV

"Are you alright dear?" Aunt Martha asked me. Aunt Martha and I were currently on our way to the palace. I found it particularly hard to wake up this morning at 4am. I have no idea how I had done it before but as we were walking right now to the palace, my body was ready to crash any moment. "Yes, I am."

I looked down to see Mukendi holding my hand firmly. This weekend was so much fun with him. Mukendi had caught me up on all that happened this past week while I was away. He was happy and that made me happy. I was really sad that I was going to leave him behind but after this weekend, I knew that this was the right decision

"Kapinga!" Amina screamed as she jumped to hug me. When I arrived with Aunt Martha at the palace, I helped out at the maid quarters despite Aunt Martha telling me to take a break. I then headed to the game room to say hello to Amina since I had time. I was only going to see the king after breakfast was served and that gave me some free time.

"Hey sweetie," I replied as I hoisted her up and placed her on my hip. This girl looked tiny but boy did she weigh a ton. "Are you going to be my nanny again?" she asked rather eagerly. I looked at her face and braced myself for the disappointment she was about to show me. Just as I was about to respond to her, I heard someone cough behind us.

I took that opportunity to put Amina down, which she wasn't very pleased with. But I couldn't take her with me to speak to the king. When I turned around, I was rather surprised that I wasn't the king who stood in front of me but the Prince.

He looked like he just finished taking a shower as his dark brown hair glistened from the water. My traitorous heart still did its little beat at the site of him. "Brother, please tell Kapinga not to go to Evet. I asked father but he said no," Amina spoke breaking the silence. She then left my side and walked to her brother. Still the prince said nothing. He didn't even acknowledge his sister. Instead he kept staring at me which was unnerving. I always wanted his attention but now that I had it, I didn't like it.

I was wearing the oversized yellow poker dotted dress that belonged to my mom today. Now that I knew the prince had no interest in me I saw no need in dressing up. But right now having him scrutinise me, I wished I had worn something more appealing.

"Of course it's you," the Prince finally said. I was confused as to what he was referring to and luckily he caught on and when on to explain, "When I returned from the journey. You were there in the front row of the crowed. You had your brother on your back. You know what never mind it is stupid."

The prince kept putting his hands behind him then moving them to his sides which was quite distracting. I was about to ask him if he was okay when Amina reminded us of her presence, "Brother you plucked a sunflower from my garden!" Amina then pulled out the sunflower from the prince's back pocket and smelt it.

Then the Prince immediately crouched to her level and whispered into her ear. I couldn't make what he said. After the whispering, Amina and him both held out their pinkies and made a promise. What the hell was going on?

Before I could even question this odd behaviour Amina ran out the room. Somehow once she left my anxiety sky rocketed. I needed to get out of this room. I needed to get as far away from the Prince as possible.

"May I please leave," I asked the prince as he was standing in the door way. He was surprised by my request but then he masked his shock quickly and spoke up, "I know this is unexpected, but can I have a word with you please?" he asked. It was my turn to be surprised. First of all the prince asks to speak with me and he said please. Who was this guy and where was the obnoxious jerk I fell for?

When he realised that I wasn't going to respond to his request he proceeded to speak again, "I first of all would like to apologise for all that I had done to you. I am sorry that I gave you the impression that I hated you. I don't hate you Kapinga." He then started walking towards me while holding my gaze. For some reason, I was now terrified of him. He clearly had some bipolar issue going and I did not trust him near me. So, I started moving back to maintain the distance between us.

He noticed my fear and stopped walking further. He then ran his hands through his hair in what seemed to be frustration and spoke again, "I am not going to hurt you. I just wanted to give you this sunflower and well tell you that I...that I..I like you."

To say that I was surprised would be an understatement. I was now certain that I was seeing things. So I did the only thing I could do in that situation. I laughed. I laughed so much that I shed tears from the ridiculousness of the whole situation. I then walked up to the Prince and patted his shoulder. I was surprised by the amount of muscle on his arm and even more surprised that this was the first time we ever touched one another. I then looked into his beautiful grey orbs that looked at me in confusion and said, "You real funny. Have a great life Prince Muamba." I then walked around him and left.
