Ecstasy
“Hmm … dear?” Krishna hummed, lying down and placing his head gently on Radha’s lap.
“Can I ask you something?” She whispered, running her fingers through his silky dark hair.
“Anything for you, love!” He winked at her.
She smiled and continued. “Everyone deserves your love, right?”
There was silence after that.
Krishna got up and stretched himself. Radha looked around and gasped. It was getting dark. “Have been like that throughout the day?” She tried hard to control her blush.
He smirked “You like it?” It sounded more like a statement than a question. “No, I love it. I don’t mind if we stay like that throughout life. In-fact, I would love it if it was like that forever.” She smiled.
He helped her stand up. “Come! We have something important to do.” He pulled her towards the river bank.
On reaching the banks, he sat on a rock at the edge of the banks, bathing in the silver moonlight. He let his feet be washed with the cool waters and his locks to be swayed around by the cool breeze. He pulled Radha into his lap and pulled out the flute from his waist band.
“You are going to play your flute?” Radha asked, her eyes shining.
He smiled. “Not me, you.”
“What …” Before she should complete, he pulled her closer to him, resting her back against his chest. She couldn’t control her blush. He positioned the flute in front of her rosy soft lips and whispered in her right ear. “Now blow.”
She breathed into the flute, while his fingers danced on the six holes of the flute. The thought that her lips touched the same spot on the flute, where his lips always touched; made her shudder in bliss.
That was the moment when two souls merged to one. Only one person was playing the flute, but in two different bodies. The slow melody drifted slowly through the air, making each atom wake and dance. There was magic in the air. There was LOVE in the air. There was attraction, there was energy, there was the electricity and rhythm that buzzed through the air pulling each soul towards the source of bliss. Slowly, the birds and tiny animals gathered around them. Trees began swaying. Fragrance of flowers filled the air. The smell of wet soil tried to compete with the flowers to spread the fragrance. The sound of waves added the background hum to the melody of life and love. Stars started to glow brighter. The moon laughed at them and showered all its cool silvery light. The clouds danced in the sky.
The melody entered the dreams of all the sleeping gopas and gopis … making them float in the air and dance in the skies. The girls who spoke to Radha that morning, were drawn towards the banks. They circled around the couple in a trance and started swaying to the rhythm. Krishna and Radha stopped playing, but the melody still lingered in the air, intensifying with each moment.
They stood up and Krishna pulled Radha closer to him, slowly swaying to the rhythm. Radha let herself melt into his touch and unconsciously let herself fall in pace with him. The girls now formed a circle around them and began dancing. A pair of arms encircled each girl from behind and they turned back in shock to find Krishna behind them. Each girl had her Krishna. Each couple lost themselves to each other in the dance. That night, the whole universe vibrated with melody. Each soul danced with ecstasy.
Unable to miss the spectacular sight, the sun appeared in the sky. The rhythm slowly died and everyone except Krishna and Radha headed back home in same trance that brought them there.
“Radhe!”
Radha opened her eyes to see a gorgeous smile on Krishna’s face.
“I think it is time to head back home.” She silently nodded and began walking away. But each step she took away from, weighed a ton on her shoulder. Sighing, she reached home.
