Toothless lay there pondering why this boy was so comfortable with her. He almost felt secure with her, like she was giving comfort, she decided to ask him when he woke up.

Hiccup started to stir, so Toothless lifted her wing up, allowing light through. He covered his eyes, blinking. "May I just ask why you seemed to gain comfort from me?" Toothless asked.

"You were either going to take my life or take me away. I thought it would be better then all the beatings I get each day." He replied, showing her some of his scars.

She gasped. "If this happens again come straight over here, I can help." She stated, then glared at the exit, "Whoever did this to you, they should be called the monsters, not us. We don't hurt hatchlings, we care for them, even risk our lives for them." She then stood up and walked over to the small lake, grabbed a load of fish and walked back over. "There you go fresh fish." She said pointing over too it.

Once Hiccup arrived in the small village, he walked straight over to the Great Hall, so he could start his cleaning job. He kept his head down, hoping that he would not be noticed, he had no such luck. "Hey, fishbone, come here!" Snotlout's voice ran over the centre, knowing better than not listening, he walked over. "Where were you yesterday, you missed our meeting, guess we best make up for it tonight, met me behind my house after you finished your job, after dinner, DON'T BE LATE!" With that Hiccup walked off and got started with his job.

Walking behind Snotlout's house, he prepared himself. He was not prepared for what happened next.

They stood there, manic smiles on there faces chains and any other sharp or metal objects in hand. They beat him to the floor, then resorting to the chains and kicking. With every hit, a cry escaped his lips, to the point he could not bear it. "Aaz." He whispered out, not realising that he had resorted to dragonic. The group glared down at the boy.

"What you say there, Fishbone? Huh?" Astrid asked, getting into his face. Hiccup shrank back and repeated the word. They did not like that, so they got straight back to beating him up. Tears streamed down his face, as they started with the swords and daggers. He was starting to black out when he felt a sword drive through his stomach.

"Have fun surviving that one," Tuffnut said, and with that, they left him on the dusty grass.

Toothless was laying on the ground when her head shot up. Hiccups not returned, what's happened to him? She jumped to her feet and pumped her wings down, propelling her into the air. In the night sky, she scanned the village for the boy. When she caught sight of him, rage bubbled in her veins, they had stabbed him, one of there own. She dived down, reaching out to the boy. Grabbing him in her arms, he groaned quietly, in pain. What have they done to you?

She flew back the cove, placing him on the ground and landing. She reached out and wrenched the sword from his stomach, spitting it into the water. She carefully licked him, allowing her healing spit to do its job. She saw that scales had started to form, knitting him back together. His eyes started to flutter open, staring up at the sky. His hand reached up to his head. Propping himself up, he looked around and saw that he was at the cove. Toothless sat next to him, a worried expression on her snout. "What happened? Why did they do this to you?" Toothless asked him.

"They do it because they want to. I'm different, there strong and have muscles. But me. I'm just a Fishbone." He replied sadly, staring down at the ground.

"No. You're wrong. You are stronger than any of them, then any of us, even me. That is not only because you are destined to save the dragons, but also because you are, you. You put up with all this, just dealing with it and getting on with what is needed. That is the true strength. They could not do that, I could not do that. You have all this punishment, but you stay pure and soft. Your soul is light, filled with freedom. Your sent says it all, pine trees. The image of freedom and innocence. You are not like them and don't smell like burnt wood. You are unique, different, special, in your own little way. Don't let them get you down, stay that Hiccup you have always been. Never change, it does not matter what they think, only what you think. There are people out there that care, I care." Toothless finished.

They sat there for a while before Hiccup started to wobble. "Whats happening?" He slurred. Before Toothless could reply, Hiccup fell, his head hitting the floor, eyes closing, breath slowing. Toothless started to nuzzling him, trying to get him to wake. Panicking, Toothless picked him up and flew off of the island.

She flew and flew, landing on a small island near Hellhimes Gate. Wrapping her wings around Hiccup she slid across the dirt. She lay panting on the ground, till a groan emitted from her wings. This surprised her, till she uncovered them and saw Hiccup had woke up on the landing. "You need to stop fainting, it worries me." Toothless spoke softly to Hiccup.

"Ya think, I like this. Yeah, I love falling into black, totally my honey. Pain love it." He replied, sarcastically. She huffed in his face, releasing him from her grasp, allowing him to fall. He sat on his knees, shaking his head. After brushing all the dust off themselves, they saw that his wound had disappeared. The only sign of its existence was the black scales across his mid-section.

They had walked around the whole island till they came across a cove, very similar to the one they were in before. It had a pond, with a waterfall. It also had a cave, that three Monstrous Nightmares could lay in, without touching each other. They laid down, cuddled into each other. Drifting into a pleasant sleep.

Toothless woke first, quickly waking Hiccup from his slumber. It was still night, but he felt alive, energised. Why had he not done this before? "I think that you should try and work on your more dragon form. If that is ok. You just have to considerate and imagine it, it will get easier, till it's almost automatic." She said to him. He nodded and closed his eyes, concentrating. After a few minutes, scales started to spread across him, night fury ears started to form. His nails sharpened to a point. When his eyes opened, she could see that they were reptilian-like, slit and forest green in colour. He lifted up his arm, looking at it in great wonder. He opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it when he found that there were no words to describe the wonder he was in. Toothless smiled at this. He closed his eyes again, he fell to his knees. His back started to bulge, this started to grow, developing into wings, the membrane forming shortly after. As the wings started to fully form, his top started to rip, falling to the ground beside him.

When the wings had formed completely, he stretched them out, taking a look at their complete length. It was Toothless' turn to be speechless. "Wow, this feels good. Like I have finally found something I did not know I had lost." Hiccup said. Coming up with an idea, Toothless smirked. "Err, what are you thinking of?" He questioned her. She pounced on him and dragged the blunt side of her claw across his neck. He fell to the floor as she touched the correct nerve. But as he fell his arm flung up, brushing Toothless. She then fell to the floor. (Same nerve from HTTYD)

They finally woke from their half-drunk state, Hiccup asked Toothless about it, "What was that?"

"All dragons have an overactive nerve, something triggering it causing them to experience bliss, normally causing them to fall to the floor. It leaves them unable to do anything for awhile. I wanted to see if you had it, I did not that your arm would fling out and get me. Sorry for falling on you." Toothless replied.

"Nah, it's fine. It was partly my fault." He replied back.

They talked for a while, till it started to grow light. Hiccup raised his arm to his mouth as he yawned, Toothless, seeing this, pushed him into the cave. Laying down together they fell asleep.

Waking up, both of there heads shot up. There were sounds of movement in the cove. They slowly stepped forwards, reaching the mouth of the cove, the sight that stood in front of them surprised them. There stood a Nadder, but it colours where bleached, almost like they had been washed away. "Hello, who are you?" The Nadder asked.

"I'm Hiccup and this is Toothless." Hiccup said, stepping out of the shadows. When Hiccup said her name, she stepped forwards.

The Nadder gasped, "Are you a Shadow Dragon?" The Nadder asked.

"Yes, I guess you're an albino Nadder?" Toothless asked.

"You would be correct." The Nadder replied.

"May I just ask what is happening? Shadow Dragon?" Hiccup asked, very confused.

"How is he able to understand us, are those scales covering him? Explain please?" The Nadder asked.

"There's no easy way to explain this, but he is the Dovah Saviik. The one that has been for told. He will help our species live in peace. Also, Shadow Dragon is the usual species name for night fury." Toothless replied. The Nadder, and Hiccup, nodded there heads in agreement.

"I came to see if anyone had moved in here. I guess you have. I am a keeper dragon for this place, should I mark you as living here. Obviously, as a Shadow Dragon, this place is free. It's a great privilege to have one on the island. My only worry is that dragons have gone missing from the other side of the land. I think the red death has extended her reach. She does not get me though, don't think she can pick me up, she works on picking up colours, so having no colours, it does not work. Best be off, enjoy your new home. Or cave, whatever you want to call it? It's up to you. Bye" Without waiting for a reply, the dragon took to the sky, flying off in the direction of the mountains.

Hiccup and Toothless spent the next few weeks trying out what Hiccup could do. He could currently breath all the dragon's flames, including spit scolding hot water. He could know cover himself in flame and scales. He could form tails and wings. They were currently trying to figure out how to form into his pure dragon form.

"Come on. You can try harder than that." Toothless encouraged Hiccup on. Hiccup closed his eyes and tried harder, he imagined himself as a dragon. He felt his body vibrate and change. When he opened his eyes he saw that he was in a dragon form. His eyes then met Toothless', a smile across both of their faces. His form was that of a Shadow Dragon.

He was jet black, even darker then Toothless. He had a slightly bigger build then Toothless. He had green eyes, though something that split him from toothless, was the brown spines down his head and back, just like his hair. He was also wearing some kind of armour, it fit snuggly on him. It was a dark brown/black colour. They both stood there, looking at it when a squawk came from the air.
