Turn Back The Pages
Turn Back The Pages
She looks out the window, there’s no one out there
Just an old garden, buried in the grass
The old swing has fallen, the white fence is broken
But in her mind it’s full of memories from the past
She sees a young man, so strong and handsome
He turns to the window, a smile on his face
And in his hand, he holds a flower
And in his heart she holds a special place
And in her mind she can see it all so clearly
Looking through the window that takes her back in time
And for a while, she can forget about lonely
Turn back the pages and ease her weary mind
Getting off her rocking chair, she reaches for the photo
Wipes the tears from her eyes, the dust off the glass
Holds on to the memories, the last thing he gave her
She’s keeping it near her heart, how long will it last
She walks to the bed and lies in the darkness
Takes off her glasses, puts them by her side
Holds tight to the picture, looks to the window
Quietly says a little prayer and silently cries
And in her mind she can see it all so clearly
Looking through the window that takes her back in time
And for a while, she can forget about lonely
Turn back the pages and ease her weary mind
Turn back the pages, closes her eyes and dies
