A Second Look

A Second Look

Another Friday night and I’m sitting here at home

Watching late night movies and drinking beer alone

The phone rings and it’s you

Another love is through

And you don’t feel like being alone again tonight

You want to come to my place, you ask if it’s alright

You need to see me again

You’re needing your best friend

Why don’t you give me a second look

I know I can help you out of your gloom

I’ve known you for so many years

I’ve watched you cry so many tears

Why don’t you give me a second look

The doorbell rings and once again you’re in my life

Looking like an angel, with tears in her eyes

You fall into my arms

I feel your body warm

But I know you will only need me for tonight

To say the things again to make you feel alright

But I wish for a while

You would look beyond the smile

Why don’t you give me a second look

I know I can help you out of your gloom

I’ve known you for so many years

I’ve watched you cry so many tears

Why don’t you give me a second look

I poured her a glass of wine, turned on music way down low

Sat down next to her, said, “There’s something you should know”

She acted like I wasn’t there

She didn’t seem to care

So I just sat and watched her, until I heard her say

The only man she loved, he never looked her way

I wished that I were dead

Until she took my hand and said

Why don’t you give me a second look

I know I can help you out of your gloom

I’ve known you for so many years

I’ve watched you cry so many tears

Why don’t you give me a second look
