At the End of the Day
While at the crossroads of wrong and right,
Wastefully waited and sat tight.
Lied for a promise of life that excites,
At intersection of boring and bright.
Shadows now aim point-blank at my head.
With sun setting down: every hope's dead.
Keep thrashing around in pure dread,
Wanting more light, not the dark ahead.
Old greedy dusk crept up too soon,
It's the end of the day, no one is immune.
My fingers lost their grip and - swoon,
I'm gone, after chasing the last afternoon.
My soul in surrender: "Can't bear it all!"
The universe softly caught my fall,
Forgave me my sins, big and small.
Where to next? That's not my call.
