Dear Matthew | Letter Four

I like this letter I put together for my older brother. I felt much better and had so much to tell him. It was fun to write. I hope you'll give it a chance.

Dear Matthew,

How's it going in the Afterlife? This weekend, unlike last weekend, has been much better. It's April now, and you know what that means? It's Dad and I's birthday month! I'm going home the weekend of Good Friday to see the Broadway production of Frozen at the Peace Center. I didn't ask for the ticket. Mom got it for me because she knows how much I love Frozen. I hope to get the new Pokémon: Legends Arceus game for my birthday this year. It looks so much fun. I'm also working on a short story, Oceania, that I hope to give Dad either as a birthday or Christmas present soon. It's on Wattpad now, so I hope some people will read it and provide me with feedback. I wish I could share it with you.

Timothy and I will talk about him moving in with me over the summer tomorrow. I will put together a list of things I wanted to do with you and share it with him. I'm now almost thinking about taking your picture everywhere I go. We can stroll to the Charleston Harbor and the beach like we planned last semester. What do you think about that? I also want to read The Green Guardian to you, but I may wait until I edit it again. I don't want to disappoint you too much. I know, I know, I'm too serious with my writing.

This semester is almost over. It's been much better than last. My grades have improved, and I'm working very hard to regain Mom and Dad's trust for all the mistakes I've made in the past few years. Life in the dorm hasn't been as easy as McConnell's, but it's okay. A majority of my friends are in my writing class.

I wrote a spin-off story of Through the Wormhole, Messummer, as an assignment for the Capstone. I know how much you love dinosaurs and geologic time. If only I could remember your favorite type of dinosaur. Messummer is a fun story. It's about a Quetzalcoatlus who meets Daniel Matton, the main character in Through the Wormhole. You know what a Quetzalcoatlus is, right? It's the largest pterosaur ever to zoom across the Mesozoic skies. I like this story much more than Evangeline's Flame. It's better written, and I'm looking for places to publish it. I'll probably share it with you, too.

Anyway, I'm rambling here. How's the girl you met who died in the car accident? Are you and she roaming the golden sidewalks together? Have you found any unusual rocks that we won't find on Earth? Oh, and have you tried flying through any walls yet? The last time you visited me, you said you hadn't.

Your picture is next to my bed twenty-four hours straight, so I can look at you and feel like you're here with me. It's my favorite picture of you. I've been keeping it nice and clean. I also do not take off the necklace Gram gave me when you moved on. It's the one that reads: A piece of my heart is in Heaven, Brother. Everyone in the family has one, and we carry them around.

I'm looking forward to my birthday and this semester being over. I hope Timothy will be safe and sound so we can share the house like you and I were supposed to. He's staying busy with work.

I love you, Matthew. We'll talk again soon, okay?

- Your little sister,

Vika
