-5- Team 10's First Mission

---5---

......Previously.....

'M-Misaki? Is that you? Is it r-really, really you?' Choji stammered.

'In the flesh,' I replied, stuttering as much as he did.

--------

'So, now that you lot have all been re-united, let's get down to training,' Asuma Sensei fgrinned, taking a puff on his cigarette.

As soon as those words had left my lips, Choji had me in his famous bear glomp, and I pulled him straight back into one of my own.

'How did you-When did you!?' He stammered. I laughed and let put a sigh.

'I'll tell you all about it later, okay?' I promised.

--

'So what are we doing today, Sensei?' Ino asked stepping beside me.

'Actually, I'm pleased to tell you guys that Team 10 has their very first and official C-Ranked Mission!' Asuma grinned.

'Really? Are you sure that we're ready?' Shika asked. Asuma grinned.

'Sure! In fact, Lord Hokage himself has asked for you guys specially, he heard of your progress with your minor missions here in the village and he's decided to let you take on a high ranked mission outside of Konoha,' he said, finishing his cigarette.

'Oh wow!' Ino cheered. Choji munched on his crisps.

'So shall we head over to the Hokage's office, then?' Asuma Sensei asked.

'Fine. Pfth. What a drag, we have to walk and it's ages away,' Shikamaru sighed. I laughed and we set off towards the Hokage's room. We passed through the village, seeing friendly and familiar faces. We carried on until we reached the office. Asuma Sensei knocked on the door and the Hokage summoned us in.

'Good morning, Team 10, glad you could make it,' the Hokage said fiddling with his fingers.

'Good morning Lord Hokage!' We all chorused.

'I have been very pleased with your progress, Team 10 and I think that you're ready to take on bigger missions,' he began.

'What do we have to do sir?' Ino asked.

'Your mission, Team 10, is to hunt down a group of bandits. They've been reported and are based somewhere along the border of the Land of Fire and have terrorised some small villages along the border too. I want you to track them down and report their location back to me. From there, the mission will be continued by a team of Elite Ninja who will arrive soon after you've reported the location, then you are to return home. Do you accept the mission?'

'Yes sir!' We grinned.

The Hokage smiled and we left the office.

'You guys go and get read, I'll meet you all by the gate in an hour, alright?' Asuma asked.

'Sure Sensei!' I grinned. The others nodded. We all went our seperate ways but Choji followed me back, since his home was on the way.

'Okay Misaki, question time!' He grinned, offering me some crisps.

'You're right. You deserve to know the truth Choji,' I said.

'So what happened? Why did it happen?' He asked.

'Well after we moved from the Leaf, Mom and Dad's work took us to the Land of Waves. We still had to move around a lot, but thankfully, it wasn't anywhere outside of the Land of Waves. The last time we moved, we ended up in the Ninja village of the Village Hidden in the Mist, and that's where I continued to train as a Ninja,' I explained.

'Oh, so is that why you stopped writing?' He asked sadly. I nodded, ashamed and upset as my eyes brimmed with tears.

'I-I'm sorry Choji, it was so hard to keep moving places and continue writing. Mom and Dad would never tell me that we were moving, they'd just pack everything up while I was out training or at school and I'd come back to a house full of boxes! Then they'd tell me that we had to move, but they never told me where, so I had to wait until we got there,' I sobbed. Choji put his arm around me and I stopped.

'It doesn't matter, Misaki, what matters is that you're home!' He said with a closed eyed smile. I smiled and wiped my tears away and hugged him back.

'Now you go home an get ready for the mission. We're leaving in an hour,' he said, giving me a quick hug before running off, then stopping at a food store on the street to buy some more chips. I laughed and turned for home, looking back over my shoulder to see him running home.

I turned my head back and arrived back to Auntie Kurenai's place. I opened the door and found it empty.

'Hello?' I called. No answer, I shrugged and walked in and began packing some food and gear. Suddenly I heard the door and I turned around to find Auntie Kurenai strolling in.

'Misaki, you're home early, sweetheart. What's up?' She asked.

'Team 10 have their very first mission and we're leaving in an hour. I'm packing some stuff, but I'm not sure about what to pack next,' I said slowly.

'Team 10? Asuma Sarutobi is your Sensei?' She asked. I nodded. Auntie Kurenai blushed and I looked at her suspiciously, pulling a weird face. My Auntie laughed and came to help me get ready. Finally I was packed and ready to go.

'Oh, wait!' I said, rushing into my room. Auntie Kurenai followed me in and stopped as I moved the heavy wardrobe away from the wall to reveal a small book case built into the wall. On it lay my katana's in the brown case. I knelt down and I opened the case. I wondered what and why my parents had these katana for. They weren't Shinobi and had never had any interest in the Ninja life, so you can see why this was puzzling for me.

'Are you sure you're going to bing those, Misaki?' Kurenai asked. I nodded and strapped the sheathed katana to my back.

'I'm ready,' I grinned as Kurenai walked with me to the door. She gave me a big hug and kissed my forehead.

'Stay safe, Misaki. Asuma will protect you, okay?' She smiled. I nodded and hugged her back before turning to leave. I thought about my Auntie and Sensei. What did she mean? He was our Sensei, sure but he'd look after us all, right? Oh well, I shook the thoughts away and headed towards the gates. I smiled when I saw the others there. Only Sensei hadn't arrived yet...

'You ready Misaki-chan!?' Ino called waving. I grinned and ran towards them.

'Nice blades, Saki,' Shikamaru nodded toward my katana on my back. I smirked.

'Yep, arigato!'

Finally Asuma Sensei showed up.

'Sorry guys, I had to take care of some important business. Well you guys look ready to go, shall we head off then?' He asked.

'Yeah!' We grinned.

'Okay then,' Asuma chuckled. 'Team 10, move out!'

'Yessir!' We saluted leaving the village.

'Hey guys, I think we should come up with our own little theme tune thingy,' Ino suggested.

'Like what?' Shika asked. Ino smirked.

'Ino, Shika, Cho, Saki! We all say our own names in that order,' she laughed. 'Let's try it,'

'Fine, pfth what a drag...'

'Ino!'

'Shika,'

'Cho!'

'Saki!!'
