To say that I was terrified was an understatement. That night I couldn't even fall asleep, and when I did I was haunted of nightmares of Jennifer being sent to jail. So I was currently laying down in bed, it was Saturday, which meant that I had nowhere important to be. But I knew that I had to do something, because me lying down in bed, thinking about why my life was so unfair and if I have bad luck, wasn't going to benefit anyone. So I got up, went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, and fixed my hair to make it a least look somewhat presentable, and headed downstairs to the kitchen. While I was walking down the stairs, I remembered what happened the last time I went into the kitchen so I peeked my head inside and saw that just my mom was in there. Seeing that the coast was clear I headed inside.

"Hey Arielle, how are you doing?" My mom said, flipping through a magazine.

"I'm fine." I said flatly, looking through the refrigerator for something to eat.
"You won't find any food in there, I'll make you some." She offered and got up.

I mumbled an okay and sat in the living room and waiting for her to finish.

A few minutes later I heard her calling my name so I went back to the kitchen. She had made me eggs and bacon, something simple, but hell I wasn't complaining . I told her thank you and starting eating.

While I was taking a bite out of my bacon I could feel eyes on me, so I looked up at saw that it was my mother's.

"What?" I asked her.

"Arielle what's wrong?"
"I told you that I was fine." I responded.

"Arielle I know something is wrong. You can tell me." She said.

Well now is as good as a time as ever. I thought to myself.

"Mom what do you think of gay people" I asked her.

"Well I think they're wonderful, I have no problems with them. Your cousin Brianna is gay." She answered.

On hearing Brianna's name I cringed.

Brianna was my older cousin on my dad's side of the family. She was 21, and as far as I know, in college. When we were younger she would always bully me, whether it be pranks or just making fun of me. I haven't seen her in 2 years, and hopefully it stays that way for longer.

My mom took me out of my thoughts of Brianna when she asked "Why do you ask?"

At that I stayed quiet.

Was I really ready to admit this to her? To myself?

"Mom...I think I might be gay or at least like girls and boys." I said and looked down at my food and waited for a response.

"Okay." My mom said.

Okay?" I asked shocked that that was the answer I got.

"Yea. What else did you want me to say?" She asked confused.

"I don't know, something."
I heard her sigh and looked from the corner of my eye and saw that she was now sitting next to me. "Arielle I don't care if you're gay, bisexual, whatever. You're still my baby girl and I won't love you any less." She said and engulfed me into a hug. I hugged her back and when she released me she asked "Do you want me to tell your father or would you like to do it on your own?"

"Nah, I'll do it on my own." I said.

"So, now that that's cleared up. Do you have a girlfriend?" My mom asked.

When I heard that question I almost choked on my eggs and I thought about Jennifer.

"What no..." I said, trailing off.

"Arielle I think you and I both know that I know when you're lying but I won't pressure you. Just bring her around here when you're ready for us to meet her, okay?"

I nodded my head and she left the kitchen.

Leaving me to my thoughts I realized that I was blessed to have a mother like her, caring and supportive, because I certainly know some people who didn't get the same type of mother like I did.

Now I just have to tell my dad, but something told me that he wouldn't mind.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It was around 5 when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!" I yelled to whoever was on the other side.

The door opened and I saw it was my dad.

"Hey Arielle." he said and sat down on my bed.

"Hey...what are you doing in here?" I asked.

"Well your mother told me that there was something you wanted to discuss with me." He said.

Wow thanks mom. I thought to myself.

"Uh,yeah there is..." I trailed off and sat next to him on my bed.

Might as well just come out and say it.

"I like girls." I said.

"So you're gay?" He asked.

"No, I like guys too." I answered.

"So you like boys and girls?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Well okay then honey."

"You don't mind?" I asked.

"Hell no, why would I care if you like boys or girls. You're still my baby girl." He said and hugged me.

"Thanks dad." I said.

"It's fine, so do you have a girlfriend?" my dad asked.

"Uh...well there's this girl I like." I said quietly.

More like woman.

"Well I'm not gonna bother you about this girl now, but you better bring her 'round soon, you hear me."  He said getting serious all of a sudden.

"Sure." I said lying through my teeth because I knew I couldn't possibly bring my teacher to my house.

"Okay see ya Arielle." He said heading towards the door.

"Bye." I said.

Once he shut the door I fell back on the my bed and sighed.

Jeez, my parents are a handful. But nonetheless I love them.
