🌷20🌷

The immense silence in the house was proudly sponsored by Deanna's outing.

My jaw dropped as I heard the door bang. I walked back and sat on the cushion sadly. The cool air from the air conditioner did it work on my body but still, I felt uneasy.

Something was going to happen but I don't know what and to whom.
I ignored my thoughts and focused on the television show, sleeping off afterward.

The continuous buzzing from the landline telephone woke me up. It ended before I could reach it. I stretched my arms and my eyes met the clock.

"Shit! It's 3:45 pm" I muttered to myself as I hurried towards my room but the sound of the telephone made me retrace my step.
Walking towards the table, I placed it on my ears.

"Sorry, I'm Smith. Are you Dean?" The person I guess to be a male by his name said.

"Yes," I answered impatiently "why are you calling?"

"Ermm...your sister has been hospitalized" he broke the information.

Confusedly I asked "Meaning?"

It doesn't sound normal. Why would she be hospitalized? She only left home less than 3hrs ago.

"What do you mean by she has been hospitalized," I asked still confused.

"I'm sorry, but you have to rush down to Dematek hospital, she's been on your name since she has been here," the man said.

I wanted to tell him to give her the phone to be sure of what he was saying but he ended the call almost immediately.
"Shit!" I groaned as I picked up my car keys and made my out.

The drive wasn't pleasant. I drove as fast as possible disregarding every vehicle I bump into. My thoughts were filled with negatively affected.

Within minutes, I arrived at Dematek hospital. Jumping off from my car I hurried quickly into the hospital, my heart beating faster than normal. The reception was filled with a lot of people patiently waiting to be called by one of the specialized doctors.

"De..ee..anna Sebastian," I told the receptionist her name.

"I'm sorry, I didn't get the..."

"I said Deanna Sebastian" I yelled at her causing stares from different directions, I ignored them and focused on the receptionist who was sluggishly checking the names.

"Ohh! Miss Deanna, the bleeding patient that was..."

The anger in me raged above normal as I screamed "Shut the fuck up you bastard, tell me her ward number"

"I'm sorry sir," a doctor said to me "follow me, I need to talk to you".

I left with him but not after glaring at the receptionist.
The doctor took me to her ward but didn't allow me in.

"Why the fuck are you restricting me from entering" I queried angrily.

"You need to be calm sir, and besides you can't go in tensed," he said calmly "Also I need to talk to you for a brief moment before finally letting you in".

I gazed from the window at my sister laying flat with oxygen on her nose, blood stains covered the bedspread she lay on.

"What kind of a hospital is this? A patient laying down on a bed full of blood stains" I fumed.

"You need to let me explain" he answered still calmly.

"Then explain" I yelled.

"She got herself involved in abortion and..."

"What? Abortion?" My jaw dropped and my cheek fell at that moment.

"Yes, abortion. A young man rushed her here after she was found screaming in pain by the roadside. Unfortunately, she had lost a lot of blood and still losing more"

"Then do something" I shook him "Do something doctor please, she's my twin sister".

"We have tried our best sir to stitch up the cut she had during the process but due to the unsuccessful abortion led by a novice, she sustained a lot of injury in her vagina area, and my team and I have tried our possible best in stitching it up but to no avail," he said

"You can do something, sir, anything I mean" I pleaded in tears.

"I'm sorry, the cut was large and she has to be moved to a more specialized hospital to avoid bad news. Already she has lost a lot of blood but if something can be done now, her chances of survival will be drawn".

"No-ooo" I cried out loud.

"Your dad is a politician, he should be informed," he said and left.

I made a call to my mum and told her the present situation. Gently I entered the room, welcomed by a quick smell of drugs coupled with the stench of blood oozing out from her underneath.

I stood beside her caressing her hair. As I watched the oxygen mask placed on her nose and a blood-giving set attached to her hand, tears dripped down my cheek.

Her eyes opened a little, and she smiled wryly as she saw me. I watched her as tears dropped from the corner of her eyes also. She tried to remove the oxygen mask from her nose.

"No please don't" I pleaded.

She ignored me and went ahead with it.

Stubborn even at death.

"My ss-on" her voice spoke softly.
Tears trickle down my face, I couldn't bear them.

"I'm so sorry" she continued.

Her breathing pace increased and I tried putting her oxygen back for her but she refused.

"J-us-tice foo-r me," she said and that was it, she gave up the ghost.

"Doctor!" I screamed but no response.

"Nurse!!!" I screamed louder and the doctor and a few nurses came in.

"Save my sister please, doctor"  I begged

"First you need to go out" the doctor replied.

"Deanna, please don't do this" I begged as our hands separates from one another.

I watched from the window how the doctors tried reviving her but all to no avail- she is gone.

"Dean, what is the problem?" My mum came running in "where is Anna?" she asked.

"Mum" I rushed towards her and hugged her tightly "Mum, Deanna?"

"What happened to Anna," she asked rubbing my back

"Deanna is dead!" I cried out.

She rushed off into the ward but her body has been covered, I sat on the floor crying.
I felt part of me has ended, I felt useless.
I couldn't speak. I watched her body being taken to the morgue, I stood motionless.

My father never came back home till she was buried.

At her burial, I watched my half get lowered into the grave. I couldn't help but look.
I didn't talk for weeks, I barely eat anything.
I couldn't believe she was gone for good.

After few months after her burial, I finally started talking and then I remembered her last words, it keeps refreshing in my mind- justice.
I blamed my dad for her death afterward as I feel he had a hand in it.

Back to present
Deanna's death has been a big loss to me, it is hard getting over it.
My phone beeped and opening the message, it was from Annie.

Annie 10:57 pm
Allie's birthday is tomorrow, I hope to see you there. Bye for now.

"Wow!" I heard myself saying. "Sure I will be there".

"Just Allie can make me avenge my sister's death, Just her!". I thought to myself.
