Chapter 29

“I’m sorry, Rick,” Lily whined, “I can’t help myself. I tried I really do but I couldn’t help myself. I’m still in love with you. I truly do.”

“You are crazy!!” I scolded her. “I’ve told you, I’m too old for you. Besides don’t you hear just now? I’m your sister’s boyfriend. I’m with Brianna now. Don’t do this again. Don’t make me hate you!!” I warned her.

“Rick, please,” she cried. “I love you. I really do. How could you be with her when you know that I’ve love you? I’ve been in love with you since the beginning and I’ve told you a million times.”

“And I’ve told you a million times too that I’m not in love with you,” I pointed out.

“Why?” she demanded, “Is it because of my age? When you’re in love age has no meaning. It’s just a number. I might be young but I’m more mature that both my sisters. You’ll see that I can love you more than Brianna. I’m willing to do anything for you, Rick. I’m even willing to die for you.”

“God, Lily,” I sighed loudly, “Try to understand. I don’t feel anything towards you. I just don’t. I just love you like a sister,” I pointed out again, “Yeah you are right. I agreed, age is just a number but I just can’t see myself in love with you. I’m in love with Brianna. I love you sister.”

“Why? Why her?” she cried, “What does she have that I don’t? What’s so special about her?”

I shook my head before answering, “She independent, she’s beautiful, amazing, caring and much, much more. She’s everything I’ve wanted in a woman. She’s my dream girl. I can be myself when I’m with her.”

“You be yourself too when you with me,” she pointed out. Yes, I do admit that I’m comfortable when I’m around both she and Brianna but lately not anymore, after the way she’s behave.

“Not anymore,” I told her. “I’m comfortable with you before, Lily because I thought you don’t feel anything else towards me but a love of a sister, but after I realized that you feelings towards me are more than a sister, I’ve started to feel uncomfortable,” I informed her and then looked intensely at her, “Please Lily, don’t mess whatever we have at the moment. Just accept me as your brother as I’ve already accepted you as my sister. I really mean it when I said I love you as a sister, I want us to remain that way, but if you still in denial, I don’t think I want to be close to you anymore. I have no choice but to keep a distance between us. I don’t want you to give a false hope, Lily. I want you stop thinking about us as lovers. That’s not going to happen.”

“But….“ she tried to persuade me but I cut her.

“No buts, Lily. My decision is final. I love your sister and I’m going to marry her not anyone else,” I firmly told her but I heard a gasp from the other corner of the room. Both Lily and I turned to look and saw Brianna standing behind the bathroom door. She obviously heard my conversation with Lily but I don’t think I mind. I wanted her to know my true feelings towards her.

I walked towards Brianna, wrapping my arms around her waist and turned facing Lily, “I love your sister, Lily,” I said again.

Brianna bite her lips and turned to looked at me before turning back to look at Lily who was standing in front of us with teary eyes, “And I’m in love with him,” Brianna confessed.

“How could you? You know how I felt towards him. You know I’ve been holding that feeling for a long time,” cried Lily. “Now I know why you keep asking me to forget about him. You have always wanted him for yourself,” she accused.

“No, I didn’t,” defend Brianna. “I never felt anything towards Rick but just recently. It was when we started spending time together and he started to court me. That’s when I started to fall for him not before.”

“Even though you know how I felt towards him, you still make yourself fall for him?” asked Lily.

“I thought you were over him. I thought you finally accepted that he loves you like his sister,” admitted Brianna.

“That’s show how much you don’t really know me!!” accused Lily. “You supposed to understand my feelings but I guess you’re only concerned about your feelings.”

“It’s not true,” yelled Brianna, “I always concerned about your feelings. Why do you think I’ve been keeping a secret about what’s going on between me and Rick for the last 3 months? I was hoping you would accept the fact that Rick and I are in love with each other and be happy for us.”

Lily glared at both of us and looked at Brianna in disgust before saying, “I would never accept what happen between you and Rick. I would never be happy for you. Over dead body!!” With that she rushed out of the room.

“Lily!!” Brianna called before rushing towards her. I managed to catch up with Brianna and we both standing on the stairs when we saw Mike and Elisa tried to stop Lily too.

“You are such a stubborn girl,” scolded Mike, “Why can’t you just be happy for your sister.”

“You always side Brianna!! Both you and mom. I know she’s your favorites,” accused Lily. “I will never accept their relationship. Never!! Over my dead body,” she yelled again before exiting out from the house.

“Lily!!” both Elisa and Brianna called her name at the same time before we heard she drove the car away.

“Let her cool down,” Mike said to both Elisa and Brianna.

“But where is she going?” asked Brianna concernedly. “It’s already late.”

“She probably went to Mira’s house. I’ll call Mira and inform her to look out for Lily,” said Mike taking out his phone, “She’ll come home once she comes to her senses.”

Brianna looked at me with sad eyes, “Come, let’s wait inside,” I said, pulling her hands with me.

She slowly followed me into my room, “I never expect she would react like this,” said Brianna softly.

I hugged her tightly, “She’ll come to her senses soon and she’ll accept what happen. She’s just can’t think straight at the moment, that’s why she’s acting like this. Everything will be fine.”

“What if she still couldn’t accept it?” asked Brianna. “I don’t think I can live with that.”

“She will have to,” I convinced her, “We both will show her how we really felt towards each other.”

“But…..” Brianna tried to add but I cut her off.

“No, buts, I love you,” I said looking directly into her eyes, “I’m not going to back out on you, “I promised and then asked her, “You not going to back out on me right?”

“I…….” she stuttered.

“Brianna?” I looked at her intensely, “You not going to back out!!” It’s more a statement from me that questions.

She didn’t answer but kissed me hard instead, silencing me.
