Chapter 25

Chapter 25

I’m so glad Brianna agreed to join us. Lily without a word opened the car door and sat on the passenger’s seat besides me. I looked at Brianna and she just shrugged and smiled before sitting at the backseat behind me. Good thing she sat there because I could adjust the rear mirror so that I could look at her. When Brianna realized that I’m looking at her she smiled and I smiled back before driving to our favorite ice-cream restaurant.

We drove in silence and when we stopped at the traffic light, I looked at Brianna again at the back. How I wish she’s the one sitting besides me and we would hold hands like we always did whenever we in my car. I still couldn’t stop feeling disappointed for not able to hold her or even kiss her. Gosh, I really want to touch her and just my looking at her making my heart beating fast. I really couldn’t wait to be alone with her again.

“Rick, its green, Go,” yelled Lily at me making me immediate looked ahead.

“Oh,” I immediately drove my car away after a few cars honking at me. I could hear Brianna chuckled behind me and I make faces at her through the rear mirror.

When we reached the restaurant, Lily immediately grabbed my hands and pulled me inside. I turned and looked at Brianna but she just shrugged and followed us from behind.

Lily ordered hers while I ordered, “One chocolate almond for me and one strawberry delights for her,” I told the cashier and pointed at Brianna.

Lily cast me a surprised looked, “How do you know that’s Bree’s favorite?”

Brianna and I looked at each other, “I’ve told him,” Brianna replied. “He asked me about it and I told him.”

“Oh,” mumbled Lily who obviously doesn’t seems happy about what Brianna’s just said. We found a seat and I sat in between her and Brianna. “Have you been busy lately?” Lily asked me.

“Not really,” I replied, “Why?”

“Well, you been coming home late nowadays and you seldom spent time with me anymore,” she complained.

“Well, I do have some project I need to finish,” I lied before glancing at Brianna. “I’m sorry I’ve not been spending time with you. I don’t want to disturb you with your study,” I apologized.

Lily rolled her eyes, “I hate my mom sometimes,” she complained again pouting her lips. I felt so bad for her.

“Oh you know how mom is,” Brianna defended, “I face the same thing when I’m your age. Don’t you remember? Once it’s over you’ll realized it for your own good.” Lily rolled her eyes instead. I just shook my head. This girl is really stubborn at times…. no, erase that…. the girl is stubborn.

“Hmm, talk about mom, did she tells you about her Community‘s Charity Dinner next month?” Lily asked me.

“No, I don’t think she did,” shaking my head and looked at Brianna wondering whether she knows what Lily talking about.

“Oh, gosh, I totally forgotten about that,” confessed Brianna.

“Ah, you are pretending to forget about it,” scoffed Lily, “You don’t want to get involved.”

“I did not intend to do that,” protest Brianna, “It’s for charity, why wouldn’t I don’t want to get involved.”

“Because you not happy about the whole thing!” Lily mocked, “I remembered you tried to talk to mom not to put your name in.”

“What actually going to happen during the dinner?” I asked looking at both of them.

“Well,” Lily licked her spoon before explaining, “Mom’s Community is organizing charity dinner every year and every year they have different activities. So, this year they decided to have an auction,” she finished with a mischievous smile.

“Oh, what are they auctioning?” I asked but looking at Brianna who was blushing. It must have something to do with her.

“Their daughters and sons,” smiled Lily.

“Huh?” I’m trying to understand what she’s telling me. I looked at Brianna who’s blushing away.

“Yep, they are auctioning their daughters and sons but family members are not allowed to purchase them. According to mom, they will have to serve the one that bought them for the whole day. Example, if Mr. Morris buys Bree that night, the next day Bree will have to do all the jobs required by him for the whole day example, do the laundry, cleaning the house, extra, extra,” explained Lily then she chuckled, “But knowing Mr. Morris, he might want Bree for himself.”

“Shut up!!” scolded Brianna, Lily poked her tongue at Brianna, “Well that’s the truth. Everyone in school knows that Mr. Morris has his eyes on you, and you know it too.” she giggled.

“He’s not that type of person,” scoffed Brianna, “I’m just his favorite’s student.”

“Yeah, right,” mocked Lily and I could see Brianna flushed like a lobster.

“Who is this Mr. Morris?” I asked.

“He’s my head master,” respond Lily.

“And was mine before,” added Brianna softly, “He’s a very nice person. I don’t why students including my friends like to gossip about him and me.”

“That because we knows he really like you,” laughed Lily and she added before Brianna could say anything, “besides as his favorite student.”

“Shut up, Lily,” gritted Brianna angrily while Lily still giggling.

“I think it not good for you to gossip about Brianna and Mr. Morris. What if his wife heard about this?” I said to Lily, trying to defend Brianna. I don’t like hearing about this gossip too.

“Mr. Morris doesn’t have a wife. He’s not married. That’s why we think he really want Brianna,” informed Lily and then looked at Brianna before adding, “They said he’s waiting for you to finish your studies before he proposed to you,” and then laughed loudly as if so happy making Brianna angry.

“I said, shut up, Lily!! Before I really slap you!!” warned Brianna angrily.  I could feel the Lily has crossed Brianna line and I never see Brianna this angry before. I touched her hand under the table trying to cool her down.  Brianna looked at me like she’s going to cry.

“Lily, stop teasing your sister,” I scolded her, “So the three of you will be auctioned that night?” I changed the subject.

“No, only Bree,” Lily chuckled.

“Why only you?” I asked Brianna.

But before she opened her mouth to explain, Lily interjected, “Well, they just want one from each family. So what mom did was put our names in a bottle and dad picked up the name and Bree was the LUCKY ONE,” she let out a laugh again making Brianna glare at her.

“When is this dinner again?” I asked.

“Next month, March 15,” informed Lily, “Are you going?”

“Well, if your mom invites me, I would love to go,” I said.

“You need to buy the tickets from mom,” Lily said, “I’ll ask her for you….”

“You don’t have to,” Brianna cut-in, “They give me two tickets because of my involvement in the charity. One for me and one for whomever I want to invite. Since I don’t have anyone to give, I’ll give it to you,” she offered.

I smiled, “Are you asking me to be your date for that night?” I teased.

Brianna smiled back at me, “Hmm, maybe.”

I chuckled, “If you asked me nicely, I would love to be your date.”

“Define NICE,” teased Brianna.

“Hmm,” I leaned closer to her, “A full kiss on the lips,” raising my eyebrows teasingly at her.

Brianna let out a nervous laughed and made an eye contact reminding me that Lily is around before she pushed me and mocked, “In your dreams.”

I glance at Lily who was scowling at us. I pretend like nothing happened. “I love to go to that dinner and watch you getting auction,” I teased Brianna.

“Ha, ha, very funny,” Brianna mocked.

“So you going to be Brianna’s date?” asked Lily who pouting.

“Well, since she’s giving me the tickets, I think it’s the right things to do,” I shrugged and smiled at Brianna. Brianna smiled back at me and then looked at Lily who doesn’t look happy.

“Why are you scowling?” Brianna asked her sister.

Lily glared at her, “Nothing!” she scoffed, “Are you two finished?! I want to go home!” She pushed the chair angrily before getting up and stomped out of the restaurant without waiting for us.

“What’s with her?” I asked Brianna as we followed from behind.

“No idea…,” Brianna shaking her head. She seems puzzled too.
