Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Punishment
The group of humans - and "Non-Fiends," remember? - gasped. They did not want to believe what was in the chair.
Cassandra was the first to recognize the puppet and took a step forward. "Shelly?"
"Yes. It is me. Queen Shelly!"
The girl still had on what Slappy wanted her to wear. The red dress. Red shoes and red earrings. Dark red lipstick. The only difference now was that she was a walking and talking dummy. Just like Slappy.
Shawn and the others also recognized her. Champ's mouth dropped open, and Hannah shivered. The rest of them either stood where they were or got concerned for her.
"Shelly...it is you," Sarah said. It was just above a whisper. "Are...are you alright?"
"Fantastic!" she answered. She jumped off the chair and landed on her own wooden feet. "I have never felt this good since the love of my life made me happy."
"The love of your life?" Sam repeated.
"She means Slappy," Cassandra reminded the group. "When Shawn and I arrived here, I noticed electricity that was coming from this area. The electricity was shaped like lightning strikes. That is when I knew what that dummy was up to. Combining his magic and the power that came from the tower, he shocked her and was able to transform her into a hideous doll."
Shelly clenched her hands into tight fists and stomped her foot. "I am not hideous!" she protested. "You know how I know that? 'Cause Slappy loves me! He chose me out of all the ocs that fanfiction writers were shipping him with. Why? I am beautiful and irresistible. Most importantly, I understand him."
"That is a bunch of crub," Shawn stated.
Cassandra narrowed her eyebrows. "We need to get out of here." She reached for her.
The doll screamed in terror. "No! Slappy!"
A sound was heard. It sounded like the snap of fingers. The group then saw monster after monster appearing from the darkness and stepping into the light where they were. About a minute passed, and Slappy teleported behind his bride.
He placed a wooden hand on her shoulder. "My love."
She did not get jump-scared by him. She quickly spun around in his direction and hugged him tightly. "Slappy. Oh my gosh. Thank goodness that you are here."
He hugged her back and grinned at Cassandra, Shawn, and the kids. "It is okay, baby. I told you that I will never let any human hurt you."
"For the record..." Shawn motioned to himself and his friend that was a girl, not...girlfriend. "...she and I are not humans. We are "Non-Fiends." There is a huge difference."
"Whatever! If you look like humans, then you are humans." He pulled away from the hug.
Shelly gripped his arms. "Where did you go? I was here all alone."
"You were not, my queen. My monsters were here with you. They made sure that nothing bad would happen to you."
"Where did you go?"
"I was putting our son to sleep. He needs his nap."
"Enough of this!" Cassandra exclaimed angrily. "Turn my daughter back! Now!"
Both the humans and monsters were surprised at what she had said.
"I am not your daughter," Shelly sneered. "I am no one's daughter. The only family that I have is my husband and whoever joins his side."
"Husband?" Sam repeated.
"She means Slappy," Shawn admitted to him. "Get with the program!"
The evil dummy tossed back his wooden head and laughed. His laughter echoed throughout the entire place, but did not last long.
He glared at Cassandra. "Are you not a little young to be her mother?"
"Yes. Yes, I am. That is because I am not really her mother. I am her caretaker, but I think of her as the daughter that I have always desired."
"Well, you messed that up."
"There is a reason why she and I were separated. I do not care if the readers hate me, but it is part of the plot twist."
"Not my problem."
The caretaker had enough with him. Her patience was gone. She ran up to him - and punched him in the face.
"Slappy!" the doll cried.
The puppet hit a machine that was nearby and fell to the floor.
"...woo-hoo!" Champ cheered. "It is about time somebody showed him who is boss."
The monsters could not believe what Cassandra had done to the most powerful Goosebumps monster. They stared at him to see his reaction. So did the kids and "Non-Fiends."
Just then, the Monster Protector skipped into the room with Kathy and Stine. Stine and Kathy were no longer dummies and back to their original selves.
"Hi, guys!" Margie greeted happily. "Well, I did it. The liquid returned Kathy and Stine to their normal states. I feel so accomplished!" There was no answer. "What is with the silence?" She saw Slappy on the floor and let out a squeal. "My gosh. It is Slappy!"
Slappy looked up and eyed the humans and three - remember that Margie is also one - "Non-Fiends." He frowned and suddenly, the humans and "Non-Fiends were floating upside.
"Ah!" Champ screamed like a little girl. "Put me down! I am afraid of heights!"
"Come with me, everybody," the dummy ordered. He picked up Shelly and carried her to the throne room. The humans and "Non-Fiends" floated behind him, and his friends followed.
They came to the throne room and all but Slappy and Shelly halted.
Slappy carried her up the small steps that led to their thrones and set her on hers. He kissed the side of her head and sat on his throne.
"You have made Slappy very unhappy," he said. "For that, you will pay. And my bride will decide." He looked at his queen. "What would you like to do with these bad people? Think of something despicable."
The girl blushed a little and thought for a moment. "I choose...execution!"
