Day 1 of being "Park Baekhyun". 7:36 AM.
Is it even humanly possible to wake up with a smile?
Baekhyun doesn't really know. All he does know is that he was grinning from ear-to-ear when he woke up the morning after his wedding day. He woke up on the same bed, under the same covers, in the same room, same penthouse, and with the same person beside him, but everything— even the air he breathes— suddenly feels so new to him. With a small giggle, he held up his left hand up in the air, eyes practically sparkling as he surveyed the newest addition wrapped around his finger.
Their wedding ring.
We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married, Baek internally sighed.
It's so pretty, he even added. And then he turned to his side, wanting to get a glimpse of his husband's sleeping face and maybe even pepper him with featherlight kisses until he wakes up. But Baekhyun wasn't greeted by a handsome sleeping face beside him. Park Chanyeol lies awake, a small smirk twisting his lips as he watches Baek with pure amusement.
"Oh my god, you scared me!" Baekhyun exclaimed, hands flying to clasp his chest.
Chanyeol chuckled before stretching a little and yawning. "Good morning, beautiful," he murmured, rolling towards Baekhyun's side, wrapping his strong arm around his waist, and then burying his face against the crook of Baekhyun's neck. The smaller cannot help but blush when Chanyeol breathed in his scent before leaving a kiss on the exposed skin. He didn't stop there, though, because his hand started wandering along Baekhyun's curvy waist, making his way under his shirt so he could caress him skin-to-skin.
Baek giggled, amused, leaning towards his husband's touch. "Beautiful? Even with this morning face and puffy eyes?" he scoffed.
"Hm," Chanyeol hummed. "You know full well what's my answer to that, love."
It was their wedding day yesterday but that doesn't mean they had sex last night. They were both tired— Okay. Scratch that— Chanyeol was doing fine. He's used to all the unnecessary socializations. But Baekhyun. Well, our dear Park Baekhyun was dead tired from all the conversations, drinks, laughter, and handling insistent businessmen.
And of course, from the crying. The awful awful crying that happened as Park Chanyeol held him on his lap on the couch the very moment they got home.
Baekhyun has always been bad at handling emotions— whether they're good or not. And he's beyond and beyond happy that he and Chanyeol are finally married. So he cried. All because he's too delighted to just smile and laugh.
Park Chanyeol actually tried coming onto his husband last night, kissing him passionately as they retreated to their shared bed. Caressing his face down to his waist and thighs. But Baekhyun dozed off mid-make out and Chanyeol guessed that's his signal to wait for their honeymoon.
So he tucked Baekhyun in under the covers, pulled him into his arms, and then slept.
This morning is quite different, though. Because Baekhyun is ecstatic and buzzing with energy.
"I'm sorry for scaring you," Chanyeol kissed Baekhyun's neck again. Then he eyed the ring Baekhyun's been marveling on. "Do you like it? We didn't get the chance to choose the wedding ring together."
The smaller can't help but plant a soft kiss on Chanyeol's hair. "I love it," he whispered. "And I love how you always seem to know what I would like."
Chanyeol hugged him closer. If that's even possible.
"You're the love of my life," Yeol whispered back. "What I was doing as your fiance was the bare minimum."
Baek can't help but chuckle. "Okay, okay," he said. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Chanyeol breathes. "You deserve it."
We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married.
That's all Baekhyun can think about with that dreamy smile on his face.
They had their morning make out for about a few minutes and Baek just couldn't make his grin disappear. Every time he sees Park Chanyeol, he would stare at him with that almost intoxicated look. Chanyeol made him pancakes in his pajamas and disheveled hair and Baekhyun couldn't help but rest his chin on his palm as he watched his husband.
We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married.
Baekhyun breathed out a dreamy sigh, eyes landing on the wedding ring Chanyeol is wearing.
Park Chanyeol, on the other hand, wonders why Baekhyun isn't listening to him. He's been blabbering on and on about their Paris honeymoon itinerary, wondering why Baek kept answering him with "Hm-hm", "Sure, honey", "Yes, love", and "I get it. I love you" when they don't even make sense.
Weird, Chanyeol thought but just let everything go.
We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married, Baekhyun kept thinking as Chanyeol fed him the pancakes, kissing the syrup off his grinning lips when he got a little messy with the chewing.
We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married, Baek mumbled repeatedly in his mind as he started preparing their clothes for their Paris flight tonight. His husband promised him a four-day honeymoon in Paris and he only agreed because Chanyeol also swore he'll accompany him to different museums.
We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married. We're married.
Every time Baekhyun isn't thinking, that's what's running in his mind non-stop.
Well, that's until he remembered something he should have given Chanyeol last night.
"Fuck," Baekhyun muttered under his breath just as he placed another pile of clothes into his luggage. The couple is both sitting on the floor of their gigantic closet— courtesy of Chanyeol and his hundreds of pairs of suits— folding then piling up travel clothes for their Paris trip.
Chanyeol looked up from folding a pair of polka dot boxers, a gift from Baek "What is it?"
But instead of answering his husband's question, Park Baekhyun stormed off the closet, fuming and muttering curses under his breath, towards the bedside table on his side of their bed. It's a thing they do in which they both have their own bedside table where they keep things they want to hide. It could be silly or not. The couple just thinks it's nice to have personal objects for safekeeping once in a while.
Park Chanyeol's bedside table is basically empty aside from a box of condoms and a bottle of lube— things not really too personal. And Baekhyun doesn't really have things to keep inside that table aside from some pieces of paper in an envelope. Excited and giddy, Baek snatched up the envelope from the table drawer before running back towards his husband who just resumed folding his underwear.
Baek slumped on the spot beside Chanyeol. "I'm so sorry, babe," he started. "We were so preoccupied last night I forgot to give you my wedding gift."
Chanyeol's eyes widened in shock and he practically paled. "Your—?! What? Were we supposed to do wedding gifts?!"
"No, Chan—"
"Oh my god, hon!" Chanyeol continued to panic. "I-I'm so sorry— I forgot— It slipped my mind—"
"Ya!" Baekhyun had to slap Yeol's arm then. "We weren't, okay? We weren't supposed to do wedding gifts!"
There was a long pause because Chanyeol had to absorb everything first. "Oh, thank god," he clasped his chest. "I really was panicking back there, babe. Thought you're going to cry on me or something."
"Stop overreacting," Baekhyun scolded but he's already laughing at how silly his husband looks— mortified beyond comprehension. "Besides, it doesn't really matter. Aren't you gifting me our honeymoon already? You paid for and took care of everything, Park Chan."
"Well, not really," Chanyeol said. "I paid using our joint account."
Baek shrugged. "Which comprise ninety percent of your money, so you basically paid for everything."
It's obvious Park Chanyeol wanted to debate on that but he kept his mouth closed. It's not like Baekhyun is speaking nonsense. "Okay, okay," Yeol just nodded his head, hand resting on Baekhyun's thigh as if to say 'you win, love'. "What is it then? What did you get me, Park Baekhyun?"
A red blush crept easily to Baekhyun's cheeks and he really doesn't know if it's because he's about to show his present or because of the new name Chanyeol just called him. 'Oh god,' he thought. 'This will take some getting used to.' Baekhyun touched his warm cheeks quickly before clearing his throat. "Um, well," he looked down, suddenly embarrassed. "It's not really original but... I did my best."
Chanyeol cannot help but swoon at how adorable Baekhyun is right now— His brown eyes avoiding his; pink lips formed into a small pout; slender hands clasping around a small blue envelope. He suddenly looks like a child about to confess something wrong that he did. "Honey," Chanyeol started in a gentle voice, taking one of Baekhyun's hands in his then intertwining their fingers. "Whatever it is, I know you poured out your heart on it." He stared into Baekhyun's eyes with so much love that the smaller could not help but melt inside.
For real though, what he prepared for Chanyeol isn't that special. He just saw this on some blog and thought maybe he'll create some for his husband, too.
"Okay, babe. Here," Baek handed the envelope to Chanyeol. "T-They're coupons."
"Coupons?" Chanyeol frowned, super curious as he opened the blue envelope to find five creatively drawn coupons on his hand. They're the size of a usual ID card and are painted and designed individually with their own motifs and fonts. Chanyeol recognized his husband's handwriting immediately and his art style. He threw Baekhyun a puzzled glance but his eyes were just met by Baekhyun looking away to hide his blushing face.
"I know it's so childish," Baek mumbled. "I just thought it's cute..."
Chanyeol flipped a coupon over his palm. The design is kind of Victorian with the words 'Breakfast in bed' written on it. The frown on his forehead started to fade as he flipped through the coupons his husband made for him. There's 'Wishes granted for 1 day', 'Full body massage', 'Join you in the bath', and 'Receive a nude picture of your liking'.
"Oh my god, stop grinning!" Baekhyun exclaimed and Chanyeol wouldn't have realized he's already smiling from ear-to-ear if not for Baek's sudden voice, cutting off his trance.
"Oh, am I?" Chanyeol chuckled, which turned to a full flown happy laugh within seconds. "Oh, god, these are so cute, baby." He gazed at the coupons one by one again, brushing his thumb over the art and feeling the realness of the watercolors, acrylic paper, and calligraphy. Whatever Park Baekhyun had written on the coupons, they sure are things he rarely does for Chanyeol.
First, because Baek is a disaster in the kitchen. Second, Chanyeol spoils him so much and does not really ask anything in return. Third, they get massages as a couple in spas. Fourth, it had been long since they shared a 'steamy' moment in the bath. And fifth, Baekhyun mainly keeps his bare photos to himself, saving them until sometime when he feels like teasing his husband.
Baekhyun bit his lip, trying not to swoon after seeing Chanyeol's genuine happiness. "You really like them?" he whispered.
"Of course I do!" Chanyeol exclaimed. "This is really sweet, baby."
"You don't think it's tacky?" Baek pouts.
Chanyeol gaped, surprised his husband could even think that. "Of course not! This is like the best gift I have ever received in my entire life! I swear!"
"You're overreacting!" Baekhyun exclaimed but a smile was already pinching the sides of his lips. "It's not that cute..."
"They are cute. And this is really thoughtful and definitely the sweetest thing," Chanyeol took Baekhyun's hand and planted a quick kiss on the back of his palm. "I appreciate it. Thank you, love."
Park Baekhyun stared into his husband's sincere eyes and smiled rather shyly. "Thank you, too," he murmured, peering up at Chanyeol through his lashes.
"But wait," Chanyeol decided to ask the one question that popped in his head. "Where are the sexy coupons?"
Curious but not clueless, Baekhyun tilted his head to one side. "You mean the coupons for sex?"
"Uh-huh," Chanyeol doesn't really feel the least bit embarrassed. And Baekhyun knows how enthusiastic his husband is when it comes to making love.
"Do I need to make coupons for that?" Baekhyun's smile slowly turned to a sly smirk. "You know you can ask me anything, my love," he whispered. "And you wouldn't have to beg." He gave Chanyeol a wink before standing up to resume packing their clothes.
And Park Chanyeol... Well, he cannot wait for this honeymoon week to commence.
