Chapter 7
"So how was your day, Lucy?"
I turned my body toward the window. I can't stand looking at this woman, just being around her makes me wanna throw something.
"I see." She started writing something down in her notebook.
What could she possibly have to say from me just looking toward the window?
"Are you still taking your medication? Are you still going to your monthly eye exams?"
I didn't say a word, I continued staring out the window.
She sighed, "if we're going to make this work then you have to talk to me."
I turned to her, "I don't feel like talking today."
She clicked her pen and put her notebook away, "ok, how about we talk off the records. No notebooks, no writing, no recordings, just me and you."
I raised my brow, interested, "I'm listening."
"Now back to my question, are you taking your medication and are you going to your monthly eye exams?"
"Yes."
"Any strange side effects?"
"No."
"That's good. What about your eyes? Is your vision getting worse or is it the same."
"It's fine."
"Are you still wearing your-"
"Ok that's enough, I can't take this anymore." I stood up and tried to walk out the door, but of course, it was locked.
"Our session isn't over yet Lucy. Once our time is done you can leave. You already know the rules."
"Your asking me the same questions over and over again! What's the purpose of being here if you don't ask me other questions!"
"What kind of other questions do you want me to ask?"
"I don't know! Just something different."
"Alright." She made herself comfortable in her chair, and crossed her legs, "how are things at home?"
"Another question."
"You told me to ask you a question."
"I don't want to answer that one."
"Ok, how is your mom?"
"She's fine."
"Ok, how are you?"
"Fantastic." I said sarcastically.
She sighed, "Lucy please just give me something. Out of the eight years I've known you I don't know anything about your personal life or even about you. Why can't you just trust me?"
"It's not that I don't trust you."
"Then what is it?"
"I don't like it when people are trying to tell me how I feel. You don't know what's going on with me, you don't know my life. So what gives you the right to tell me how I feel."
"I understand. So what do you want to do differently about our sessions?"
"Well for starters get rid of this depressing room. It's making me more depressed than I already am."
"Note taken." She looked at the timer to see how much time we had left.
We had about fifteen minutes left.
"So... I saw you talking to the new boy earlier."
"Yes."
"Is he nice?"
"Yeah. He's ok."
"Is he your friend?"
"Something like that."
"I see. You're making friends now?"
"Maybe, but I don't know how long that will last."
"Well, it's a start."
"But I did see something. It happened on the first day the new boy came."
She straightened her self in her chair, "and what's that?"
"When he came into the classroom, I saw it."
"Saw what?"
"His hair. It has this amazing color-"
"Color? You saw color?"
"Yes. I don't know how to describe it but the color is just so beautiful. Is that how you feel when you color?"
"Yes, but that should be impossible-"
"So you don't believe me?"
"No that's not what I'm saying-"
"Then what?"
"It's just impossible, considering your condition."
"I know it sounds impossible but I really did see it."
"Maybe it was just your imagination."
"Are you kidding me? I know what I saw!"
The alarm went off indicating that it's time for me to go.
I grabbed my stuff and opened the door, "Lucy I'm sorry."
"Just forget I said anything." I slammed the door behind me.
"I'll see you next Thursday." She whispered.
I know she's trying to help me, but some things I just need to keep to myself.
The hallway was empty and silent. I looked at my phone and saw that it was eleven thirty.
Everyone's at lunch.
My stomach started growling. I haven't eaten anything since a couple days ago. I can feel my stomach touching my spine.
"Luce! There you are!" The familiar voice snapped me back to reality.
"Where have you been? I was hoping we could've eaten lunch together." Natsu grabbed my hand and walked me to the cafeteria.
"I had to go talk to someone."
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine. It's nothing."
"Good, can't have my friend getting hurt."
We walked in the cafeteria and all eyes were on us, actually no, all eyes were on me. The cafeteria started getting quieter than normal. I could hear the whispers and giggles.
"Natsu, I'm not that hungry. I'll talk to you after school." I turned around, but before I could escape he grabbed my wrist.
"What? Where are you going?"
"To the library. I forgot I had to talk to the librarian today. Silly me." I laughed akwardly while I escaped from his grasp, "I'll talk to you later."
I rushed out the cafeteria and ran toward the library hoping to escape reality with the help of some books. That moment in there is the exact reason I don't go to the cafeteria.
I was in the middle of my book but I couldn't read it anymore due to my stomach growling so loud. It was so bad that my stomach started hurting from not eating for a while. I've been trying to fill myself up with water.
I laid my head down to at least help the pain a little. That didn't help at all. I sat there in pain, wondering when I'll be able eat something.
"Here." I heard someone place something in front of me. I looked up and saw an apple and a burger sitting in front of me, waiting to be eaten. My mouth was watering from the smell.
"I could hear your stomach growling from the hallway."
Before I grabbed the sandwich I saw Natsu taking a bite out of his apple, "how long has it been since you've eaten?"
"A couple days." I took a huge bite out of the sandwich.
"Don't you have food at home?"
"No, my mom never buys groceries."
He sighed, "then I guess I have no choice. I'm taking you out to dinner tonight." He took another bite of his apple.
"No thanks, besides I don't have any money."
"Don't you understand how a date works. I'm paying for you. All you have to do is be your beautiful self."
Wait what? I cleaned out my hears to see if I heard him say that correctly.
"Can you say that again?"
"I said don't you understand how a date works. I'm paying for your meal. All you have to do is be your beautiful self."
That's what I thought he said.
"I'm not going," I pouted.
"That's not an option." The bell rang for next class, "I better see you after school, no running away."
"Fine, but no funny business." I slammed my book shut.
"I promise." He came up to my ear, "I can't wait for our date," he whispered, sending shivers down my spine.
"It's not a date!" I said through gritted teeth.
"Alright whatever you say." He shrugged his shoulders, "you better and hurry and get to class before your late."
"You're going to be late too. We have the same class!"
Is this guy trying to be cool or something?
"Just do whatever. I'm going to the bathroom." Our teacher just stood up and walked out the classroom. This was pretty much a free period since our teacher doesn't really teach us anything besides not to be a high school teacher and be miserable for the rest of your life.
"So Luce, what restaurant do you like?"
"I don't know. I don't go out to eat that much. I think the last time I went out to eat was when I was in fifth grade."
"Wow, well what kind of food do you like?"
"I like Chinese food."
"Hmm..." He started typing something in his phone.
"What else?"
"I like sandwiches."
"What kind of sandwiches?" He tapped the pen on his chin.
"Any kind, I think they're all good." He continued to type things down in his phone. I tried to glance at what he was doing but he would always block my view.
"Are you the fancy type?"
"Umm, no." He again started to type in his phone, "What are you writing-"
"Do you like quiet places?"
"Yeah, but what are you-"
"Alright done." He started rubbing his hands together, while doing this evil laugh that creeped me out, "this is going to be perfect."
He rushed out the classroom and went who knows where.
I'm starting to think he's a weirdo.
The bell rang, indicating it was the end of the day.
Another day gone by.
I went out to the parking lot to Natsu's truck with him no where to be found.
"Oh come on, where is he?" I whispered. I just want to get this dinner thing done and go home to sleep.
"Hey Luce." Natsu came jogging down the parking lot toward me, "Sorry I'm late."
"Come on, lets get this date over with."
"So you admit it's a date?" He smirked.
"That's not what I meant!"
"Sure."
I cursed under my breath for slipping up like that. I bet he's not going to stop talking about it the whole ride.
"Hop in!"
We were driving for thirty minutes and my stomach was growling nonstop.
"How much longer?"
"Just around this corner."
"Really?!" I sat up and tried to spot out the restaurant. Maybe it's that huge fancy building right there with the lights all around it. I wouldn't mind going there.
I have to admit I am pretty excited about this.
We turned and I spotted a little, cute diner.
He parked his car and unbuckled his seat belt, "We're here."
He got out and opened the door for me, "This place is special. I don't bring just anyone here."
"Is that what you say to all the girls you brought here before?"
He chuckled, "you're the only girl I brought here."
I raised my brow, "Are you serious?"
"Yep, like I said, this place is special. I can't just bring anyone here."
What makes me so special to him? We just met.
He opened the door and ushered me inside.
"Hey Natsu." A woman came out from the kitchen and hugged Natsu, "long time no see."
"I know, I need to come down here more often."
"Mira and Lis are excited to see you again."
He smiled, "I'm excited to see them too."
The woman looked over at me, "so this is girl you were talking about."
"Yep this is her."
He talks about me? I wonder what he says?
"My, my you're so beautiful."
That same feeling of heat in my cheeks came back, "T-Thank you."
"She's so ardorable!" The woman squealed.
"Natsu!" Two other girls came from the kitchen and tackled Natsu into a hug.
"We all missed you!" They both yelled.
He laughed, "I missed you guys too."
One of the girls kissed his cheeks which caused Natsu's face to darken.
"Let me introduce you guys. This is Lucy. Lucy this is Lisanna and this is Mirajane."
"You can just call me Mira."
"And you can call me Lis."
"Hi," I waved awkwardly.
"She's so cute!" They both squealed.
Why is everyone squealing today?
"Well let's start eating!" Natsu yelled, licking his lips, causing everyone to laugh.
"Follow us." They lead us to a table that looked different from all the other tables. It had flowers in the middle and lights draping over the table.
It was pretty, but I wish I could enjoy the full experience.
Natsu pulled out my chair. I thanked him and sat down.
They both gave us menus and went back into the kitchen.
I opened the menu but I couldn't read it. My eye sight is starting to get worse and worse everyday.
I strained my eyes a little so I could see the menu a little better, but not even that worked. I noticed Natsu looking a little worried at me.
"Are you ok?"
"No, I can't see the menu."
"Do you have any glasses?"
"Yeah but I don't wanna wear them. They're so embarrassing."
"They can't be that bad."
"Are you sure about that?" I reached inside my bag and got my glasses out, "are you sure you don't wanna take that back?"
"They're not that bad. I'm sure you look as beautiful with them on as you do without them."
I put on the glasses and stared at him.
"See? I told you. Still beautiful."
I lifted the menu up to cover my face, "Let's just order."
"Whatever you say, princess."
