29. Sick

This monetary serfdom is tolerable for the Netherlands because its commerce  is closely tied to Germany and business  conditions rise and fall in tandem in both countries...

"Please." Jimin whined, throwing away the paper Yoongi had given for him to read. "I can't keep reading this."

They were at Yoongi's studio that was filled with books, a couch, one desk with  equipment for music and a piano at the corner. Jimin liked that place. They were finishing Jimin's reading session. Yoongi even complimented him because he stuttered less than last time.

Jimin loved compliments.

"You're almost finished. Carry on." Yoongi said, unfazed by Jimin's disliking of his papers.

"But this is boring. I don't want to know about economy." Jimin almost pouted, sliding on the couch until he was lying. Yoongi was sat on the chair in front of his desk, drinking wine. Jimin noticed he drank wine instead of water and that was worrying.

"How can you say that?" Yoongi's small eyes widened, looking at Jimin in disbelief. "This is my favorite article about the model of Mundell-"

"Yoongi, shut up." Jimin blurted out with a sly smile because of Yoongi's offended expression. "I know you want to help me, but you should at least make me read something I like."

"What could you know? I've done these sessions with my students to help them speak in public and it always works."

"Yeah? Well, it would be more efficient if you'd make them read manga."

This time Yoongi laughed and even clapped his hands as he did so. "Manga? Do you want me to make my students read manga?" Jimin liked that gummy smile way too much, so he turned his face to the other side to not watch it.

"I don't care about them. Make me read manga."

"I don't think that may help-"

"I'm going to be the one to read it out loud, so I think it will help." Jimin smiled and Yoongi couldn't help doing it too.

"I actually have a manga section in the corner where the piano is." Yoongi signaled to the hidden corner and Jimin stood up to check it.

Behind the grand piano, there actually were all types of mangas and Jimin started laughing as Yoongi got read.

"Don't laugh. I don't even read them anymore." Yoongi whined as his ears heated.

"I never thought a serious, cold and successful university professor would have this collection."

"That's why it's hidden behind the piano."

When Jimin stopped laughing, he turned around to look at the piano in front of him. It had a fine dust layer as if no one played it anymore and Jimin tilted his head, wanting to ask something.

Don't be scared. He taught you to speak up.  Jimin reminded himself as he took a long breath.

"Yoongi, hyung?" He cleared his throat and Yoongi looked up with a proud smile because Jimin was progressing.

"Yeah?"

"Do you still play the piano? I remember you won many contests in high school."

"Ummm no. I don't have time and, when I do, I don't feel too motivated." He shrugged.

Jimin wasn't expecting that response. He remembered Yoongi's passion back then was the piano and nothing else.

"But you loved it more than anything else. W-What happened?"

Yoongi thought about it for a second and furrowed his eyebrows. He hadn't thought about it. He didn't even remember when the last time he played it was. His hear hurt a little when he realized he had lost his passion and didn't even notice when it happened or why it happened.

"I guess I just found out some other things I love the most."

"Like what? Wine?" Jimin chuckled.

"Yeah, that and economy books."

"You're so lame." Jimin laughed and walked towards the chair Yoongi was sitting. The blond sat on the edge of the desk. They stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds. None of them wanted to look away.

"Can you please come to bed with me?" Jimin asked with a red face.

"What?" Yoongi asked, not believing his ears.

"Y-You accepted last time." Jimin kind of pouted, but stopped immediately thinking Yoongi might find him annoying. "Y-You know what? I was just kidding." He forced a smile. "Goodnight, Yoongi."

The blond almost ran to his own room, feeling angry at himself. He closed his door and walked to his balcony and sat there to watch the moon. Looking at the sky always helped him healing a little.

Stop doing such things. You look ridiculous and Yoongi might hate it.

It was sad how much a person's personality can be affected forever after being hurt once... in Jimin's case not only one time but his whole life.

Time passed and Jimin kept looking entranced at the sky. A soft knock was heard and before Jimin could answer, Yoongi was opening the door and peaking his head.

"Are you hungry? I ordered pizza." Yoongi offered an unusual smile and Jimin nodded as he gave him a smile too, but Yoongi couldn't help noticing it didn't reach his eyes as it usually did. "Can I come in?"

"Sure." Jimin looked back at the moon again.

Yoongi approached him and sat down at the balcony beside him. Closer than Jimin had expected.

"You're not annoying." Yoongi blurted out.

Jimin's eyes widened at that. "Why are you saying this now?"

"Because I know you. We've been living together for some time now and I know you, not completely, but I'm getting there and I can tell when you're being insecure."

Jimin was quiet, not knowing what answer Yoongi expected him to give.

"I'm scared."

For anyone who had been in that dark room, that would sound like a confession from Park Jimin, but it wasn't. It came from the dark-haired man who always looked unbothered and cool.

"What?" Jimin didn't understand why Yoongi was acting like this because he didn't know the chaos that was being unleashed inside Yoongi's head.

Yoongi wasn't being his rational self anymore. He hadn't been for days, weeks, but he realized and admitted it until today He had lost his mind.

"I'm so scared, Jimin." Yoongi inhaled as if he was having trouble when breathing. Jimin swiftly got closer to him and lifted his head, feeling worried.

"What's wrong?" Jimin thought Yoongi might have been getting sick because his face felt hot. "What are you feeling?" Jimin referred to something physical, but Yoongi was talking about something else.

"I don't know. I'm just so scared because I feel weird now when I'm with you. I feel something strange when you're reading for me and when you smile and when you get comfortable with me and start laughing." Yoongi couldn't hold it anymore. He himself didn't know he was feeling this way until his mouth started spilling all his unknown feelings. Something he had never done before. "But I also feel something strange when you feel shy and, goddamn-" Yoongi pulled his hair as he flashed a gummy smile. "when you stutter I feel something inside me that I don't understand." Yoongi gulped down, his cheeks were suddenly red, but it wasn't obvious because of the dark room. "And... and the way you're looking at me right now is making things to my mind."

Jimin's heart was beating faster than ever. He heard it in his ears. "Yoongi, I-"

The bell rang and Yoongi didn't even try to hide the groan of annoyance because the bell interrupted what Jimin was about to say.

"You ordered pizza, right?" Jimin asked. He was relieved because he didn't know what to say to Yoongi about that blunt confession. "I'll get it." And with that, he walked to the living room to open the door.

He received the pizza and then walked to his room, feeling unsure of what his response to Yoongi's confession should be. He walked through his room door and, as he was about to speak up, his hands dropped the pizza when he saw what was in front of him.

There was a bulk on the floor that wouldn't have been recognized in the dark room if Jimin didn't know Yoongi's body so well.

"Yoongi!" Jimin rushed to the body and to his relief, he noticed he wasn't unconscious. "What's wrong? Tell me what's wrong" Jimin cupped the elder's face and again he noticed how hot it felt, but this time he knew it wasn't from embarrassment; he had a fever.

"I'm just feeling a little weak, that's it." He managed to mutter as he tried to stand up and failed miserably. Jimin yelped and held him before his body could touch the ground.

The blond took him to his bed because he wasn't sure if he would be able to take him to Yoongi's room.

"What do I do? What do I do?" Jimin's brain wasn't functioning properly because he was too nervous. "I'll take you to the hospital."

"No." Yoongi began trembling, but managed to take his phone out of his pocket. He showed a number on the screen to Jimin. "Call my doctor, he lives n-near, so he'll arrive fast."

With trembling hands, Jimin called said doctor and briefly told him what had happened. Yoongi was right about him arriving quickly.

He greeted the doctor when he arrived and rushed him to his room, where Yoongi was tucked in Jimin's bed sheets because he didn't know what else to do.

The doctor checked him and used some familiar tools to know what was wrong. When he was finished, the doctor shook his head with a soft smile.

"Did you get wet and didn't dry off quickly, Yoongi?"

Jimin and Yoongi shared a knowing look remembering the evening he got all wet because of the rain.

"Of course you did." The doctor wrote down some things and medicine for his fever. "And please Yoongi, stop drinking wine as breakfast. Get hydrated."

Yoongi grinned and nodded.

"Does he have to go to work?" Jimin asked.

"Yes. Fortunately, he's not that sick, he just needs to take the medicine I wrote down and rest."

"Thank you, doctor." Jimin led him out and they said goodbye.

It was all too rushed Jimin thought as he walked back to his room where Yoongi was. But he wanted to ask Yoongi about the conversation they were having before. Nevertheless, Yoongi was already sleeping soundly when Jimin got in.

"Oh well, I think this will have to wait." He sighed as he tucked himself in the sheets and right beside Yoongi, deciding to cuddle him as he fell asleep in his arms.
