26. No means no
Yoongi woke up on an empty bed that still had a faint smell of Jimin on the pillow. He found himself burying his face on the soft material and sniffing that memorable smell.
He wasn't surprised about waking up alone, but he felt something weird against his chest when he realized Jimin was gone. He didn't blame him for leaving.
Yoongi took a quick cold shower and arranged himself in his regular attire and his normal emotionless expression, but he couldn't help looking sad when he realized that his house was empty before closing the front door to go to work.
"You zoned out." Namjoon spoke, looking at Yoongi through his glasses.
"Sorry." Yoongi muttered before going back to check his student's papers.
Namjoon took a sip of his coffee and cleared his voice. "You should get away from him for a while."
"What?"
"You should get away from-"
"I heard you. I just don't understand why." Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows.
"Yoongi, he loves you. You said he told you that yesterday. And I know you feel something for him too. I don't know if it's love, but you're feeling something." Namjoon put his papers away from the coffee table.
"So what?"
"You're still reluctant sometimes, and he's struggling with his identity. You're a bad duo."
Yoongi didn't know why, but he felt annoyed by his friend's words.
"I don't need advice from someone who's not over his ex." It came out naturally and Yoongi didn't realize how bad it sounded until it was already said.
Namjoon was hurt. Even though he tried to hide it, his eyes couldn't lie. He stood up and picked up his stuff from the table, rearranging his glasses on his nose and unable to make eye contact with his friend.
"Namjoon, I'm sorry." Yoongi spoke up. "I didn't mean to-"
"Yes, you did." Namjoon was about to walk away, but he stopped and sighed. "Look, perhaps that kid Jimin is right, and that other kid Jungkook too, you're selfish and you hurt people thinking that saying sorry will make everything better. And yes, it feels good when someone apologizes to you because they were wrong, but it feels better when no one hurts you at all." Namjoon started walking away slowly, that hurtful look still evident on his semblance. "If you keep doing this, you'll end up alone."
Namjoon left without another word, and Yoongi couldn't even bring himself to formulate an answer against Namjoon. He couldn't because Namjoon was right.
Was he already alone?
That simple thought worried him like never before. He never stopped to think if there was someone for him in his life at any moment. Those were his thoughts until he remembered.
God! How could I forget him? Yoongi wondered as he dialed a number on his phone with a bright gummy smile. It rang a few times until a usually happy voice answered, but this time it sounded different, distant.
"Hello."
"Hobi!" Yoongi smiled and heard the other side going silent. "Is this Hoseok?" He asked after coming to the conclusion that it wasn't his friend Hoseok.
"Hi, Yoongi. It's me." Hoseok's voice sounded a little annoyed, which was weird for him. "Why are you calling?"
"Can't I call to know about you?"
"You haven't done that in months, do you expect me to believe you?"
"God, Hoseok, chill. What has gotten into you?"
"Umm let me see, perhaps I'm a bit upset because you haven't talked to me since you don't need me currently or the fact that you lied to me for years or maybe because you fucking hurt and damaged my friend and got away with it!" By then, Hoseok was already yelling. Yoongi was taken aback and gulped down because it's rare to provoke Hoseok's anger.
"Hoseokie, I-I- look, I'm sorry-"
"You're not because even now when I thought Jimin was over you because he's a grown-up guy, you keep hurting him. You're mean, Yoongi, and I don't want to hear one more thing about you hurting him once more or you'll never see me again, Min."
"Hoseok, I'm not going to hu-"
"I have to go. I'm not in the mood to hear you talking." Hoseok sighed.
In that small cafeteria at the campus, Yoongi realized he was all alone, without friends and everything was his fault.
________________________________
Yoongi was having a bad day, to say the least. When he was on his way home, his car stopped working, he had to call the insurance company, and it took him one hour to arrive home. The worst part was that his car had to be checked and he didn't know when it was going to be ready again.
An insurance company car took him home, but when he was walking around the corner of his building, it started raining.
"You gotta be kidding me!" Yoongi started running and, even though he was so close to the building, his suit ended up wet and his black shoes made noises as he walked towards the elevator.
He was already upset about the events of that day, but what annoyed him the most was the scene displayed in front of him when he headed out of the elevator.
Jimin was pinned against the front door of Jungkook and Taehyung's apartment. Jungkook head was against Jimin's neck, his eyes were closed and he was leaving small kisses to Jimin's soft skin. Suddenly, Jimin's eyes laid on Yoongi, who was stuck there with wide eyes.
"Stop." Jimin's voice was a mere whisper, nonetheless, they heard it because the hall was empty. Jungkook just hummed and kept kissing him. "J-Jungkook, stop." He didn't comply. "I said stop!" Jimin pushed Jungkook and that's when he noticed the presence of his professor who always looked rather indifferent to everything, but not this time.
He was beyond mad and his face showed it. He walked slowly towards Jungkook.
"Jimin, can you please get inside?" Yoongi asked politely, his eyes still fixated on his student.
Jimin didn't even think about refusing. He just walked inside his house, but he didn't move an inch from the closed door because he wanted to know what they were going to say.
"I told you to get away from him." Yoongi's cold voice spoke.
"I said I wouldn't-"
"You didn't listen and, above all, you decide to harass him."
"I didn't harass anyone."
"You heard him clearly. He said no and you kept going." Jimin felt so small when he heard Yoongi saying it.
"That's arousing for him, it's like a game of getting hard to get. You wouldn't understand." Jungkook smirked and that was enough to make Yoongi grab him by the collar and push him against the wall. His grip on Jungkook's neck was so strong it made his fingers hurt. Jungkook pushed him away. He was perplexed.
"He fucking asked you to stop!" Yoongi growled.
"What the fuck? You can't do that! You're my professor. I'll let your students know that you hit me."
"I can do the fuck I want if you dare to disrespect Jimin."
"You're one to talk."
Yoongi's jawline clenched and, although Jimin couldn't see him, he heard the threatening voice he used.
"You dare to keep going when he says no, and I'll make sure you regret it the rest of your life." Yoongi spat. Suddenly, a voice interrupted them before Jungkook could answer anything.
"No need for that." The deep voice spoke and they both knew who it belonged to.
When they turned their heads, they saw the raven-haired boy leaning against the wall with his hands inside his pockets and his black hoodie on. He always looked laid back, in any situation.
"Taehy-" Jungkook tried to speak at the same time as Yoongi.
"How long have you been there?" Yoongi asked. The other just shrugged.
"Long enough. Now, Jungkook, get inside."
"But, hyung-"
"Get inside right now." He didn't look angry, his expression was rather calm, but his voice sent shivers down both male's spines.
Jungkook obeyed, leaving Yoongi and Taehyung alone in the hallway for a few seconds.
"I'm sorry about this. I assure you this will never happen again. Leave him to me." Taehyung offered a small boxy smile that looked slightly forced.
"I hope so. But if it does, I won't hesitate to hurt him. I don't care anymore if he's my student." Yoongi stated.
"I agree. But trust me, it won't happen again." Taehyung finally got in and Yoongi decided to do the same.
When the door opened, Yoongi heard a whimper and realized he had hit Jimin's forehead with the door.
"What are you doing there?" Yoongi asked, reaching Jimin to check if he was ok.
"I-I just wanted t-to..."
"To hear?" Yoongi guessed and Jimin looked a bit embarrassed as he nodded. "Words, Jimin."
"Y-Yes, I wanted to hear."
Yoongi chuckled and loosened his tie. Jimin looked up and saw how wet Yoongi's clothes were.
"What happened to you? You're soaking wet." Instinctively, Jimin rushed to look for a towel and started drying his black hair and trying to get his clothes off before he could get a cold.
"Jimin, I'm ok. It was just rain. Stop undressing me." Yoongi grinned and showed his cute teeth. Jimin stopped immediately, remembering the events of last night. Yoongi remembered them too.
"Umm, go get clothes. I'll make you some tea." Jimin muttered as he rushed to the kitchen.
Yoongi chuckled as he did as he was told. He was happy that Jimin wasn't acting too awkward after last night. God! He was grateful that Jimin was still talking to him. After such a bad day, in which he lost his friends, it felt good to have Jimin by his side.
Actually, he's always been by my side, Yoongi thought as he put on his slippers.
When he sat down in front of the kitchen counter, Jimin placed a mug on it and sat beside him. Neither of them spoke for a few minutes. There was just the sound of Yoongi sipping on his tea.
"Thank you." Jimin spoke after some time.
"About what?" Yoongi turned to look at him.
"For defending me, although it wasn't a big deal."
Yoongi's eyes got wide. "Jiminie, that's a huge deal. When you say no, it means no."
"But he's Jungkook. He wouldn't-"
"It doesn't matter who it is. They have to respect your answer. I know he looks like a good boy, but he didn't respect your choice and sometimes it may turn out into something worse."
"Thank you." Jimin finally looked him in the eyes.
"No problem." Yoongi gulped down the last sip of tea and felt better, warmer and happy. It could be because of the hot tea he drank or because of the bright smile Jimin was giving him. "Don't ever let anyone harass you in any way. Not again." His smile faltered.
"Thanks. I won't, hyung." Jimin smiled cutely and Yoongi had to suppress that awkward feeling when he heard the name. "By the way, what do you think Taehyung will do with Jungkook?"
"I have no idea. Perhaps talking? Lecture him?" Yoongi shrugged. "Whatever it is, I hope it teaches Jungkook to obey."
And, oh boy, trust me Taehyung will teach him.
Not dead.
