Chapter 2
Aurora awoke from sleep. Her neck throbbed. She had no choice but to use her purse as a pillow. She had no idea what time it was, she needed to get up to get ready for her first day of a new school. First day of a new school!?" Aurora panicked and bolted down the stairs. She looked in her boxes of clothing for any fresh to put on. She wanted to wear her best to make friends. Nothing she was never capable of doing. Anytime anyone would talk to her, she'd panic. But this is a new life. A new Aurora. But in order to get any one to talk to her, she would have to dress in her best and not act like a stupid clumsy idiot.
Aurora found a blouse and a pair of skinny jeans. Hopefully this would be good enough to join at least one group even the theater nerds.
"Hurry up Aurora, you have five minutes to get ready!" her father shouted.
Aurora didn't argue and ran up to the bathroom and threw on her clothes. She quickly brushed her hair and ran down the stairs completely ready to go.
"I am ready," she said.
"Took you long enough," her father grumbled.
He brother came up from behind her, with a cup of coffee in his hands. He had a horrible smile on his face. She knew what was coming, but she didn't move away in time. Her brother faked tripped and his coffee splashed all over her clean clothes. Not only were her clothes soiled, she felt like she had third degree burns on her skin.
"Come on Aurora, we are going. Unless you, disgusting animal, want to stay home from school like a baby," Ryan growled.
Ryan knows very well she would not be allowed to stay home from school. If she does, their father would call her lazy and irresponsible and ground her for a whole month. She didn't want to risk that. But she didn't want be the new kids with coffee stained clothes. Maybe she could get a jacket or something.
"Aurora, you imbecilic sloth, come to this car now!" her father hollered.
She had no choice but to go to school with the clothes she had on. She hopped into the back of the car and took a seat. But before she could buckle her seatbelt, her father pressed on the gas pedal the abruptly stopped, making her launch forwards.
"Sit your butt down and buckle up. I don't want a fricking ticket cause a useless dumb idiot like you who wants to break the law!" her father shouted, he look into the rearview mirror at her. His thick brows are pinched together. His blue eyed glare was icy cold.
Aurora nodded and quickly buckled up. Fifteen minutes later her father pulled into the high school. Aurora stomach did summersaults as she looked at the huge school building. This school had be like three times as big as her old one. It definitely had three times the amount of people. But that would be three times the chance she would make a friend, right?
Ryan turned and looked back Aurora, "Just pretend you and I don't live under the same roof. Okay? This is my senior year at a new school. I can't be associated with some idiot like you."
"And also Aurora," her father adds, "Don't you dare try to make any friends, cause no one wants to be friends with a person who killed their own mother!"
Aurora nods as she opens the door to get out. Both she and her brother went their separate ways. Aurora entered the school building. When she entered, she saw a long hallways of lockers. Students crowded it, making it hard to get by. As students walk past her talking loudly. A new school, a new start. She kept mentally telling herself that. It eased some tension in her body.
Her locker was A-14 which was the other side of the hallway. Aurora walked slowly through the crowd. With her arms around her books that were pressed tightly against her chest. Everything was going smoothly until she tripped and fell on someone's foot. She fell to the floor face first, with a thump, her books that were in her arms scattered everywhere. She felt her liquid ooze out her nose. She put her hand on it and looked up and saw that she fell in front of a brunette haired girl. She had two other girls in each side.
"Watch where you are going weirdo," said the brunette girl.
Aurora nodded and slowly got up, only to be pushed down by the girl.
"You didn't apologize you gross cow." Sneered the girl. Here hazel eyes shone with rage.
"I-I-I am sorry," Aurora said quietly, as she stood to get up.
The girl scoffed at her apology. "You ruined my new shoes, leech."
Aurora looked down at the girl's shoes. It was once all white, now it had a red blood stain from her bloody nose.
The girl grabbed Aurora's arm and came close to her face, "You will pay every little penny for new ones. Do you have any one you or do you want to do this the hard way.
Aurora tried to yank her arms free, but the girl grip got tighter. The brunette's two friends began to walk up to her. The one with the dark skin sneered at her. The other who was blonde dug her long pink finger nails into her.
"Answer Vivian!" the blonde demanded.
"Relax Tiffany," Vivian said with a smile that only villains would give, "I got this under control."
Aurora's body was shaking. Her breaths were short and rapid. She attempted to shake away Vivian's grip again, but failed. All the other students stood and watch, no one coming to aid her distress.
Vivian came close to her face, her voice was a toxically sweet. "I assume you don't have money. So I guess we will have to do this the hard way."
Aurora looked to the crowd of students that formed in the hallway. Her eyes pleaded with any of them to come to her aid. But no one did.
"Clair, are you catching this on video?" Vivian asked the dark skinned girl.
"Have been since the beginning," Clair replied.
Vivian took a plastic cup from Tiffany's hand, the liquid contained in it was green. Aurora tried to free herself from the girl's hold.
"This is the only beginning," Vivian said. She took the lid off the cup, and poured the drink on Aurora's head.
The crowd was laughing loudly as they surround her. She wanted to disappear. She felt like her throat was closing, as she gasp for air. She just sat there, on the ground, wet and terrified.
"What the heck is going on here?" A deep male voice asked.
The crowd stop laughing immediately and made a path for the person. Aurora had to look up at the person who was walking towards her. Vivian's grips loosened, her mouth dropped.
Aurora could stop staring at the guy. He was tall with dark hair. He wore jeans and a letterman jacket. His thick brows were furrowed and his strong jawline was tightened.
"What the heck is going on?" he asked again.
Vivian released her grip on Aurora's arm and turned to the guy, "Oh I was just helping this new girl—
"Save it Vivian!" the guy growled.
When the guy looked at Aurora his face soften immediately. His voice was gentle, "Are you ok?"
Aurora nodded as her body still shook. Her hair wet hair stuck to her neck.
"Here take this," the guy took off his jacket. He wrapped in around Aurora. The students watch intently, with their mouths dropped open.
Aurora tried to squeak out a 'thank you', but nothing came out. All she could do was gaze into the guy's emerald green eyes. He gently placed his hand on her shoulder. It made her knees weak.
Whispers and snickers could be heard throughout the hall as they stared at her. She started to hyperventilate again. The fear in her eyes grew wider. The boy saw it. His eye filled with compassion. He opened his mouth to speak to her, but she released herself from him and slowly backed away. She ran into the ladies room without looking back.
