「 Bakugou's POV 」

I woke up from my phone ringing. I sat up and stared at my phone, my eyebrows twitching. What time was it?

My eyes wandered the room before it found my digital clock, 9 am. I growled and swung my legs over the bed and got up, stomping over to my phone and picking up, "HAH?! THE FUCK ARE YOU WAKING ME UP AT 9 AM FOR?! IT'S SATURDAY, LET ME SLEEP DAMNIT!" I yelled into the phone, hearing Mina's giggles in the background made something inside me burn up.

"QUIT LAUGHING!" I yelled again before Kirishima finally spoke.

"Calm down Blasty, we wanted to go down to the beach, do you wanna come with?" he asked, happily.

My eyebrows continued to twitch angrily, "YOU WOKE ME UP JUST TO ASK ME IF I WANTED TO GO TO THE FUCKING BEACH?! .. fine. Just because I can't trust you guys out there alone. Meet me at the [insert flower shop name here] AT EXACTLY 10:30! BE LATE AND I'LL KILL  YOU!" I yelled at them before hanging up. Daily warm-up for my voice, check.

I walked out of my room and into the bathroom to splash some water in my face, trying my best to calm down. I set the water to the coldest possible and cupped my hands under the running stream of water, feeling the cold water fill my cupped hands and run out of them. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and splashed the ice cold water on my face, running my hands down my face and looking tiredly at my reflection. I looked like utter shit. But that is what a normal job does to you.

I hung my head and looked at the counter, tracing the white marble with my eyes. I blinked for a bit before walking back into my room and getting out some suitable clothes to go to the beach in. After a while of staring at my mostly black clothes, I got out a sleeveless, gray hoodie with a skull on the front and put on a pair of black, ripped jeans. I wasn't going to go out into the sand either way.
I put on a pair of white socks and walked out into the kitchen, looking at one of my sad plants in standing on the small balcony attached to my apartment. I grunted and opened the fridge, staring at its contents. For once, I wasn't remotely hungry. I felt repulsed by eating something at the moment. I closed the fridge and looked down at my feet, wondering what was wrong with me. I usually liked to eat in the morning, but now, I just felt no need to eat.

I shrugged it off and walked out to the balcony and sat down next to my sad little plant, taking in the fresh air. It was a bit chilly out today, but that didn't really matter. I sat there for a bit before finally getting up and getting my phone and a pair of earphones, putting them in and putting on some music. I shoved it into the back pocket of my jeans and grabbed my keys, my wallet and put on a pair of shoes before walking out. I locked the door tightly as I closed it, I couldn't trust anyone in this apartment building, considering that someone from the floor above me had broken into the apartment next to me, since then I had always been on edge.

I quiclky walked down the many sets of stairs before I got to the bottom floor, opening the front door and walking out, hearing its hinges squeal as it shut behind me. I looked up at the sky, the beat in my earphones making me eager to start jogging. Which I did. I started to jog down the streets while listening to the music, the fresh breeze urging my body forward through the somewhat empty streets. It was quite a jog down to the beach from my apartment, which was why I had set the time of meeting so far ahead. Mostly because I knew that I'd arrive there at around 10:15, which gave my friends 15 minutes extra to get to the spot we were meeting at.

Once I finally arrived at the flower shop, I put my hands on my knees and regained my breath. I heard the seagulls scream as they flew around the docks that ran along the stone path that was around the area. The docks ran out to boats here and there, but also had stair-cases where you could walk down to the beach area. It was mostly just for tourists to go down to see the waves a bit better, or for surfers, but they rarely used this area, what for, I had no clue.

I sat down by the edge and stared out across the water, listening to the waves wash up on the beach. I closed my eyes and listened to the different sounds that flooded from the docks. The waves hitting rocks and washing up against the beach, the sound of fishermen talking to eachother about the different catches they wanted to get today, the sound of girls giggling at some unfunny joke made by a random jock. I grunted at the sound before my ears picked up something.. unsual. Whimpering?

I opened my eyes and looked around, looking for the source of the pained whimpers. I located the sound and quickly got up, it was on the other side of one of the docks. I started to speed-walk towards the sound and rushed down the steps that led down to the sand, seeing something washed up on the shore. It looked like a gigantic fish wrapped in a fish net. I walked closer, sand starting to fill the bottom of my shoes.

The closer I got, the more I realized, that it wasn't a fish, it was.. a combination between a fish and a human. Mermaid..? I kneeled by it and shook its shoulder, "oi.. are you fucking alright?" I asked, trying to sound polite, but it didn't really seem to work. The mermaid quickly sat up, her brown hair slicked back across her head, her auburn eyes met mine, they were wide open and her face was painted with fear.

"hey- its fine-" I tried my best to calm the girl down, but it didn't quite seem to work either, because she quickly tired to scoot back with her arms, the farther away she got from me, the more I got to see of her tail. It was wrapped tightly in a fish net and towards the bottom of it, a spear was shot right through it. My eyes widened, "oi- what the fuck happened-" I tried again.

"H-Human..!" she squealed and tried to shield her face with her small arms.

"Hey hey, I just want to help you- calm down-" I wanted to add 'woman' to that sentence, but stopped myself. Being mean was not going to help this girl in the slightest. As I kneeled in the sand, I tried my best to look friendly, but I'm pretty sure that it just came out as awkward, considering her expression didn't change as she looked at me.

After a while of talking, I finally managed to convince the girl to let me help her. She was pressed up against a rock as I got up and calmly walked over to her, kneeling down next to her tail and starting to get her out of the fish net she had gotten stuck in, all the while I was thinking about how the hell I was going to get that spear out of her tail.

After a while of struggling I finally got her out of the net, next, the spear. I glared at it, "hey, can you lay down on your stomach a bit? I'm going to try and get this thing out of you- okay?" I looked at the girl who nodded, a bit on edge. She slowly laid down on her stomach, I sat over her back, right where her tail connected to her human body and grabbed onto the spear with both of my hands, "It's going to hurt, but it'll be over quickly, okay?" I reassured her.

She nodded and I felt her hand grip onto my shoe as I held the handle of the spear in between my hands. I quickly ripped it out of her, I heard her yelp and her whole body flinched and flopped around, I got hit where the sun dont shine and lost my breath, falling over to my side, "fuck that hurt-" I huffed as I laid there in the sand.

The girl's sobs quickly came to a stop as she looked at me, "thank you sir-" she mumbled, "can you.. help me into the water..?" she askeed meekly.

I turned around where I was laying in the sand and faced her, "can't you crawl?" I asked, tiredly, the pain still lingering in my body.

"It's too far off-" she mumbled.

I sat up and rubbed my forehead, just as annoying as the rest of my squad. I got up and picked her up, feeling the scales of her tail dig into the side of my arm. I grunted and walked down to the water, throwing her out into the water and watching her splash down into the water, a red stream following after as she swam off.

I rolled my eyes and looked down at my arm, with the amount of scales that had cut into my arm, it looked like I was a self harmer. I shook my head and rubbed my arm as I started to walk back up to the flower shop, I stopped when I saw four familiar faces stare down at me form the pier.

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU GUYS WANT?!" I  yelled up at them, "QUIT STARING AT ME LIKE THAT!"

"Bakubro- who was that?" Kirishima asked me, pointing at the water.

"WHO WAS WHO?!"

"The girl you helped-"

"NOBODY! NOW COME ON!" I yelled at them and walked up the steps and up to the pier, the sand inside my shoes was really making my mood even worse as we walked away from the water. I couldn't help but glance back at the water from time to time, as if I needed to check if the girl was still there. But there were only waves there, no sign of the girl.
