Only You (Doc xreader)
(1029 words)
Your POV
I was over at the Brown residence as Marty was at school since he got yet another detention. I stopped in my tracks as I heard it.
Only you can make this world seem right
Only you can make the darkness bright
Only you and you alone
Can thrill me like you do
And fill my heart with love for only you
I closed the door gently as I didn't want to alarm him. I leaned against the wall as I was hidden, listening. I was surprised. I thought that only Marty was the singer of our trio. To hear that Doc could, was a surprise to me.
Only you can make this change in me
For it's true, you are my destiny
When you hold my hand I understand
The magic that you do
You're my dream come true
My one and only you
I listened as I smiled gently. I peered around the corner sneakily as I looked at the older man as he sat in the living room by his fireplace with his newspaper. His chair was positioned so I only saw the back of it and that was it. I looked around to find that his tabletop turntable was spinning a record. From where I was I could tell it was a 45.
Only you can make this world seem right
Only you can make the darkness brightOnly you and you alone
Can thrill me like you do
And fill my heart with love for only you
I stood by the wall as I listened. I swung my hand as I counted along with the beat. I closed my eyes as I nodded my head a little. This song was from the 50s and it was one of my favorites. I've always had a love for older music since they were exactly what Marty said they were. Oldies but goodies.
Only you can make this change in me
For it's true, you are my destiny
When you hold my hand I understand
The magic that you do
You're my dream come true
My one, my one and only you
Only you
Only you
Only you
Only you
Only you, (only you)
Only you, (only you)
Mm mm mm mm
Mm mm mm mm, (only you)

I heard the song finish and I stepped around the corner as I clapped. He jumped before he leaned forward to look over at me as he put his newspaper down. I smiled as I walked over. "I didn't know you could sing" I said as I walked into the room. He shook his head as he stood, tucking the paper under his arm.
He got up to turn off the player as he put the record back in its spot. I stopped clapping as he glanced over to me. "I don't, that was the record," he said as he walked by me. I looked at him as I chuckled. "Doc I wasn't born yesterday. I would recognize that voice of yours singing anything. You can't tell me that that voice I heard wasn't you." I said and he scratched his head as he turned to look at me. "You're mistaken. The only voices I heard were the voices of The Platters." he said as he put his paper on the counter.
I crossed my arms as I looked at him. He looked away as he avoided the topic. "Why are you here anyway? Shouldn't you be in school?" he asked and I shook my head."Don't you try and change the subject. Besides I wasn't feeling the greatest this morning and Marty is in detention." I said as he rose a brow. "Mr.Strickland's gotta lay off of the poor boy." he said as he walked back into the living room as I followed. "As for you, young lady. You can't stay home and avoid those girls at school." he said as he looked at me. Sharing his wisdom.
I sat on the couch with a huff. "I've tried to deal with them, they don't change. I think they get worse" I said as I looked at my converse. He sat by me as he crossed his arms. "Do I have to go up to the school and have a word with these ladies?" he asked and I looked at Doc. "Doc, you and I both know that you're banned from the high school grounds on account of almost blowing up the school from your electrokinetic levitator from the Science Expo when you were seventeen" I said and he smiled gently.
He shook his head as he looked around the room. "I didn't say I wouldn't wear a disguise," he said and I laughed. "As much as I enjoy your crazy schemes I don't think the faculty at the school will find it very funny." I said and he shrugged before he got serious. "Still though, dear. I don't agree with these young ladies. They should leave you alone." he was silent as he looked at me for a moment. "Maybe I deserve it. I am pretty nerdy" I said and he chuckled. "You aren't nerdy, do you know who was nerdy? I was really nerdy when I was your age!" he said as I smiled.
"I think they're just jealous." he said as he leaned back on the couch. I rose a brow "Jealous of what?" I asked and he looked over. "You. Think about it. You're at the top of your class, you're courageous, you time travel and you are an exquisite young lady." he said and I tilted my head. "I wouldn't use those adjectives. Geek, nerd maybe? Freak, probably. Loner" I mumbled and pulled my legs up to my chest. He put his hand on my head and sighed. "Don't go back into that shell of yours. Just because a few bad apples have a bad opinion of you doesn't mean everyone else does." he said as I looked at him. "I hate it when you're right." I said and he chuckled. "Aren't I always?" he asked and I shrugged before he smiled and nudged me.
"Only you can decide what will and what won't get you down. So what if they have an opinion? Everyone is entitled to one, even if it's dead wrong!"
