𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗚𝗜𝗥𝗟𝗦 stood there petrified and Max was doing what Max does best, smirking. Olivia and Phoebe looked at each other both hoping the other would have an answer on how to fix this situation. Unfortunately, both of the girls had no idea what to do.
"Your siblings are floating in midair!" Cherry pointed out.
"No they're not," Phoebe said quickly dropping them to the ground both of them falling with a thud.
"You have superpowers," Cherry said. Olivia was surprised that was the girl's first guess and that she was correct.
Max from behind the couch gasped pretending to be shocked. "You have superpowers and you didn't tell me?" He jumped over the couch to come face to face with his sister. Phoebe rolled her eyes pushing her brother out of the way.
"Cherry, there is a very simple explanation for all of this." She told her friend. "And that explanation is....." Phoebe fumbled for words before she used her freeze breath to freeze Cherry in her place. Phoebe covered her mouth as if shocked by her own actions.
"Um... you froze your friend," Max said.
"I know I froze my friend!" Phoebe said angrily. Max crossed his arms and went back to what he did best, smirking. The pure chaos of the situation made him happy.
"Why are you smiling?" Phoebe asked him.
Max held his hand up. "I don't smile. I smirk and I'm doing it because you did something bad," He pointed out.
"Yeah and when I tell dad that you're the one that invited Cherry here he'll make us all move again. Smirk on that smirky," Phoebe informed her brother.
Max's smirk fell. "Okay, this isn't so fun anymore,"
"Are we really gonna have to move?" Nora asked worriedly.
Phoebe put a hand on her younger sister's shoulder. "Don't worry, Nora. Max, Olivia, and I will solve this," She told them, and even though Olivia was worried she nodded along smiling at the younger girl.
Billy and Nora looked between the three. "You three are going to work together?" The three teens nodded.
"Let's get packin'," They said together obviously having no faith in the very dysfunctional trio.
"Guys, guys, wait," Max stopped them. "There is a very simple solution. I just wipe her memory with my Brain Melt 3000," He said.
"You are not wiping my best friend's brain!" Phoebe protested.
"She's friends with you and is named after a fruit. There's probably not much there to wipe," Max said. "I'll wipe your brain next, Liv so you can stop pretending to be Phoebe's friend,"
The two girls rolled their eyes at the boy. Phoebe pushed her brother away from her frozen friend. "No, we just need to thaw Cherry out and give her an explanation for what she saw,"
"And what exactly did she see?" Olivia questioned where her friend was going with whatever sort of explanation.
"Just let me think for a second," Phoebe said.
"I like that," Max nodded. "You'll fail, it'll be hilarious and I still get to wipe her brain," He said excitedly. "Uh-oh, I feel a smirk coming on. Oh, yeah there it is," Max smirked. Olivia glared at him before swatting the back of his head getting him to stop.
Phoebe's brilliant explanation included hooking up her younger siblings to wires and putting them in silly hats they had gotten from Max's room, thanks to Doctor Colosso. Olivia still wasn't clear on what exactly they were going for, something about them being in the school musical but she was just following Phoebe's frantic orders.
"Okay, so we're all good on the plan?" Phoebe asked Billy and Nora.
"Yup," They both nodded.
"Lame," Max said making Olivia swat his arm this time.
"Why do you always assume your plans are better than mine?" Phoebe asked him.
"I have a supervillain lab, you put glitter in your homework," Max said. "I think it's a safe assumption,"
"You'll see this will work," Phoebe encouraged. "Right, Liv?"
"Right," Olivia held her thumb up but once Phoebe moved to thaw Cherry out a small grimace spread across her face making Max laugh. Phoebe used her heat breath to thaw out Cherry, bringing her back to life.
"So... let's hear it. If you don't have superpowers, how do you explain those kids rising in the air?" Cherry asked.
Phoebe scoffed. "Simple. They happen to have been rehearsing for their new school musical...." Phoebe used a remote to raise her siblings in the air. "Cannibal Squids from Mars!"
"That's the title we're going with?" Olivia mumbled to her friend.
"I'll get you, Cannibal Squid!" Nora began acting in the air.
"Never, Space Overlord!" Billy acted.
"Oh, why can't squids and overlords be friends!" The two sang together before holding their arms out smiling. Olivia put a hand over he mouth to keep from giggling.
"There," Phoebe said once she placed her siblings back on the ground. "Isn't that a completely believable explanation?"
"I guess so...?" Cherry said confusedly.
"Good, then let's forget about this whole superpowers thing," Phoebe smiled.
The oven dinged making Cherry smile. "Oh! The brownies!" Billy gasped excitedly before he used his super speed to grab the brownies bringing them back to the living room.
"I'll cut them in squares!" Nora said before using her laser eyes to cut the brownies. The teens watched as the kids ruined their plan exposing more of their powers to Cherry. "Whoops, brownie?" Nora tried to mediate.
"You all have superpowers?" Cherry said shocked.
"Hey, don't lump me in with them," Olivia told the girl holding her hands up.
Cherry ignored her and pulled out her phone. "Wait 'til I post this on my blog!"
"I got this one," Max said pushing Pheobe back and using his freeze breath to freeze the girl again. Phoebe turned to look at him. "What! You can't have all the fun," Phoebe sighed.
Olivia let out a sigh of her own as she sat down on the couch wondering how Phoebe was going to try and explain the superspeed and laser eyes to their normal friend. Olivia frowned trying to wrack her own mind for a solution not wanting the Thundermans to move.
The only sense of superhero normalcy would be gone, her parents would most likely make her move too just as they were just settling into their life in Hiddenville, and with the chaos of the Thunderman family, they could move to a completely different city far away from them.
"I can't believe this! Now Cherry's going to tell everyone at school that we have powers and Dad'll make us move again," Phoebe sighed also sitting down.
Olivia put her chin in her hand. "We'll probably be moved far away from you guys," She said sadly.
"Where am I gonna get another supervillain lair?" Max asked out loud.
"Where am I gonna get new best friends?" Phoebe asked looking at Olivia sadly.
Max looked between the two frowning girls. "That's it, we are not moving!" He reached behind the couch. "Not if the Brain Melt 3000 has anything to say about it," Max turned his gadget on standing up.
Phoebe followed him. "You are not wiping her brain," She protested again taking the helmet away from him.
"Fine, I'll just launch her into space," Max shrugged.
"How is that going to solve anything?" Olivia argued.
"She would be gone, duh!" Max argued back. Phoebe interjected agreeing with Olivia. The three began arguing until the Thunder Monitor beeped.
"Alert, alert. Parents approaching house," The monitor said.
"I added parent alert this morning," Max told his sister.
"Nice," Phoebe nodded.
"Also," Was all Max said before the three teens screamed at each other in a panic seeing that Cherry, still frozen, stood in the living room.
Billy and Nora came running down the stairs. "Mom and dad are pulling in!" Billy warned.
"We can't let them see Cherry," Phoebe said in a panic. Max quickly pulled a blanket off of the couch before throwing it over to cover the frozen girl.
"Put her in the closet," Phoebe suggested. Max nodded and Olivia ran over to help him pick up Cherry. The two made their way to stuff the frozen girl in the closet before quickly shutting the door.
"Everyone, act natural," Max said. Olivia jumped over the couch catching Cherry's purse that Phoebe threw at her and putting it behind the couch pillow where she sat. Billy and Nora stood behind the couch while the three teens sat in very unnatural poses.
Barb and Hank walked into their house. Hank bent over groaning in pain.
"Hey mom, hey dad," Phoebe said.
"Helloo," Olivia said with a smile.
"Sup, guys," Max added, his voice going up an octave.
Billy, very stiffly, smiled. "Good evening, parents. I do not know why you'd be suspicious," Nora hit her brother's arm.
Hank, too caught up in his pain, and Barb too caught up in taking care of her husband, paid them no mind.
"Hank, I'll get you a heating pad in the closet," Barb said missing the way the teens stood up from the couch.
"Wait!" Nora said thinking quickly on her feet. "Because I have a splinter," Nora said coming up with a distraction.
While Barb was distracted the three teens raced to the closet to grab frozen Cherry. The three made their way to the kitchen with her in their arms.
"I'll just get an ice pack from the kitchen," Hank said stopping the teens in their tracks. The three looked at each other in panic.
It was Billy's turn to distract. He used his superspeed to stop his father. "I'll get it, dad. Junior Super Troopers are trained to help the elderly,"
"I think I can handle it," Hank said. Olivia nodded her head to the stairs and the twins nodded as they began carrying Cherry to the steps.
"I gotta get my glasses upstairs," Barb said. Olivia almost let out a groan as the trio made their way back down the steps.
Nora grabbed her mother's arms, spinning her to face away from them. "No! Did I say splinter? I meant a cold,"
The three had no choice but to stand in the living room trapped between both adults. Phoebe hurriedly grabbed a lampshade putting it on Cherry's head. Hank made his way past the awkward-standing teens.
"Honey, which cabinet is the-" He paused to turn to look at the three. "What is that?"
"What is that?" Barb asked again.
The three teens looked at each other before Max spoke. "I know. Ugly, right? I am so done with the Lamp of the Month Club," He lied trying to get Cherry out the door.
Barb used her electric shook powers to stop him. The three teens frowned moving to stand back as the two uncovered a frozen Cherry.
"Phoebe, Olivia, isn't this your friend Cherry?" Barb asked the two girls.
Phoebe stepped forward. "Mom, Dad, I can explain. See you wouldn't let me go to Cherry's, so I invited Cherry here, but then she saw me use my powers, so I kind of froze her," Phoebe said sadly.
"Really? Honesty. That's what you're going with?" Max crossed his arms.
"You let a non-supe in the house?" Hank scolded his daughter.
"I know, I screwed up. I broke the rules and I'm really sorry," Phoebe apologized. "I just wanted to have a normal friend,"
Hank nodded. "I'm sorry, too. Start packing, everybody. I'm sorry Olivia but I have to tell your parents,"
All of this cause an uproar among the kids as they all protested, even Olivia groaned.
"Sorry, but we have no choice. We have to keep our powers a secret. Although, I know showing them off sometimes can be tempting," Barb said directing the last part of her words to her husband.
Phoebe sighed before turning to Olivia. "I'm sorry, Liv. I just wanted us to have our fun trio and I ended up running our lives," Phoebe sat on the couch.
Olivia smiled sadly at the girl sitting down next to her and rubbing her arm. "At least we got the fun trio for a little while," Olivia shrugged.
"Mom, Dad, wait!" Max said after taking a look at the sad girls. "This isn't Phoebe's fault. It's mine. I texted her friend to come over so I could go work in the lair. So, if you're gonna punish anyone, punish me,"
"Phoebe let her in the house," Hank said sternly.
"Because she wanted another friend," Max argued. "Come on, dad. You and the Greenedge's moved here so we could all live normal lives. Well, don't ruin their chances because of something I did," Olivia couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her lips as Max added her into his speech and because of the fact he was standing up for Phoebe.
"I'll tell you what. I won't tell the Greenedge's and I'll forget this whole night ever happened if you and your sister can figure out a way to fix this," Hank offered.
"We're toast," Nora mumbled.
"Wait!" Phoebe stood up. "It's a long shot but I know something we can try,"
Olivia had a clear idea about what Phoebe was suggesting. The family scrambled to follow Phoebe's plan each given a task and Olivia helped as much as she could as Phoebe's musical explanation came together.
Olivia covered her mouth as she saw Max come back from the bathroom in his sparkly red fest Nora had quickly made. Even with her hand over her mouth it still wasn't enough to hide her laughter.
"Laugh it up," Max glared. "I don't understand why you don't have to dress up,"
Olivia smiled sarcastically. "Because you almost ruined my life and I'm not a Thunderman," She told him. Olivia finished gluing the squid tentacles onto the top hat before setting it on Max's head. "Now, entertain me!" She mocked his evil laugh before heading to the living room.
The family had moved the coffee table out of the way and sat up two chairs for Olivia and Cherry. Olivia sat down next to a now unfrozen Cherry, who just sat there confusedly waiting for the show to start.
Olivia looked to Cherry wondering if this was going to actually work. Sure, Cherry was ditzy but this was an outlandish plan. She didn't have too much time to overthink it as the Thundermans began performing.
Phoebe and Olivia had slapped a script and songs together in under ten minutes and it was very obvious but still, the family pushed through. Every once in a while Cherry would look over to Olivia who would just smile and nod at the girl.
Olivia was doing a good job keeping it together until their finale approached. Olivia bit the inside of her cheek to keep herself from smiling too much as Max snuck a glare at the girl every chance he could.
The family hit their ending pose, Barb using her powers to create sparks to further prove that everything Cherry saw was special effects.
Olivia clapped hoping Cherry would join her but the blonde only stood up. "So.... you're all in the school musical, and all that weird stuff I saw was just special effects?"
"Yup," All of them said with a nod.
"You buyin' that?" Hank couldn't help but ask.
"Of course, I'm buying that!" Cherry said excitedly making them all sigh in relief. "You guys are so cool! Olivia, Phoebe you guys really wrote this?"
Olivia nodded. "Mhm, you'd be surprised at how easy the inspiration came," Olivia laughed nervously with her.
Cherry nodded with a smile on her face. "Group selfie!" She held her phone up and the group posed.
Once she snapped the picture Max quickly grabbed her arm. "Well, it's getting late... thanks for coming by,"
"You're great, Max. I knew Phoebe had a brother but she never said he was so talented," Cherry ranted as he dragged her to the door.
"Yeah, whatever, Orange," Max said grabbing her purse.
"It's Cherry," She corrected him as she stood outside.
"Okay, bye," Max threw her purse at her before shutting the door in her face. Max took the top hat off with a sigh.
"What a night," Barb sighed. "Come on kids. It's time for bed," She told her youngest kids.
"Can Max, Olivia, and Phoebe, babysit us every night?" Nora asked excitedly.
"No!" They all yelled.
"Think I'm gonna try one of those brownies in the kitchen," Hank said to the teens before going into the kitchen.
Olivia sighed moving from her chair to place herself on the couch next to Max. Phoebe turned to her twin brother to smile at him.
"That was a really nice thing you did for me," Phoebe said to him.
Olivia smiled along with her remembering how the boy took the blame. "You even had to add me into your little speech," Olivia held a hand over her heart.
"Yeah listen, I have a reputation to uphold so if we can keep this whole nice thing on the down-low," Max tried to reason with the two girls.
Phoebe shook her head. "Nuh-uh, you did a nice thing and I'm never going to forget it," Max used his telekinesis to lift the Brain Melt 3000 from behind the couch but Phoebe held her hand up. "Try to melt my brain and I'll cram that thing down your smirk hole," She threatened. Olivia laughed at her friends bickering.
Hank came back into the living room enjoying the brownies. "You know what these need? Macadamia nuts,"
"Let me guess: You're gonna fly all the way to Hawaii to get-" Before Max could finish his sentence Hank had already said his catchphrase and flown off through the roof.
"This is why your dad's not allowed in my house for too long," Olivia shook her head getting up with the twins to look through the hole in the roof.
"We have a weird family," Phoebe told her brother.
"Yeah, we do," Max agreed.
"Like my family is any better," Olivia added before looking up at the sky and squinting her eyes at the moon. "Why does it say 'Nora Rules' on the moon?" The girl asked.
"Nora!" Max shouted before running off to question his younger sister. Olivia and Phoebe looked at each other with a laugh.
Olivia perked up before reaching into her back pocket and pulling out her phone. "Wanna see all the pictures I took of Max in his costume?" She laughed.
"Duh," Phoebe said to her friend pulling the phone closer.
