RECAP VLOG! (just kidding, only a recap of the story...in case you forgot....)                                               So far in the story.....

Dan is a Reaper, a supernatural (wink wink) being that judges humans on whether they should live or die, based on the things they have done in their past life. The Highers, basically the rulers of this other world, send him on an advanced job, to judge an In Between, a person who has done equal things good and bad. Phil Lester, the In Between, is pretty much a nobody, but that doesn't stop Dan from falling for him. But he can't be with him, not with what he is and what he does. He tells Phil this, and Phil decides to become a Reaper himself, but after going to the Highers to get their permission, he is instantly rejected. Dan makes a huge sacrifice, and becomes mortal again, going to live with Phil in the human world. After about a year, Dan's best friend, PJ, visits and tells him that the Highers have changed their minds, and that they want Dan and Phil back......

                                                                  ***********************************

"You're kidding me." Dan says, staring at his friend in disbelief and doubt. There's no way the stubborn Highers would ever change their minds, just to accomodate him and Phil, who they had outright rejected last time. There must have been some kind of catch.

But PJ only looked at him with sympathy, and Dan knew that he wasn't lying. Of course, that didn't mean the Highers weren't lying themselves.

"Its been kind of a mess without you, Dan. Your parents.....they stopped taking jobs when you left. And a lot of other people think it isn't fair that you were kinda forced to leave. You're actually quite popular, back at Headquarters. And the Highers don't know what to do, except bring you back, with Phil of course."

"And what if I don't want to go back? Maybe I'm happy here."

"Dan, you of all people know what the Highers are like. They won't take no for an answer."

Dan started pacing the yard, biting his lip harshly and thinking. What the hell was he supposed to do, leave and have Phil come with him? It was way too sudden, and he didn't want to leave, he was happy here, with Phil and no jobs or Highers. And damn if Phil was just going to go along with it. Knowing him, he would do it to make Dan happy, but he wouldn't be happy himself. And Dan didn't want to do that to him.

"I can't just drag Phil back there." Dan said after a while, stopping and looking PJ in the eyes.

"I don't have any say in this, you know that. All I was told was to tell you."

Dan started pacing again. They couldn't just do this! He'd thought he'd never have to deal with those bastards again, but here they were, fucking up his life once again. For their own selfish reasons, too.

"Come on Dan, Chris and Phil will worry. Just think about it, okay? It really has been a mess since you left."

And that was it. PJ turned and walked back into the house, Dan following after him.

What exactly did he mean, that it was a mess without him there? He was sure that no one was rioting and chaos wasn't breaking loose, his absence wasn't that impactful. But even so, that didn't mean he wanted to leave here, from this different and much more exciting world, where he was learning all kinds of things everyday.

He'd still have to talk to Phil, of course, and see what he thought. But right now, he kept it to himself.

The rest of the night passed as it had before, but Dan was was a bit subdued. His brain was pretty much a turmoil, but he tried not let it show, smiling whenever Phil looked at him and ignoring Chris and Pjs worried glances.

It was well past midnight before PJ and Chris left, promising a visit soon, and Dan breathed a sigh if relief after the door had closed behind them.

"What's up with you?" Phil asked, almost immediately after they had left. Dan glanced at him, but looked away from those blue eyes knowing they would see straight through him.

  "What do you mean?"

"Stop playing the idiot, Dan, you know what I mean. Ever since PJ talked to you, you've been tense and worried looking. So what's going on?"

Dan was weirdly glad that Phil knew him enough to know when something was up, but he was also disappointed that he couldn't wait until a bit later.

"Its just...PJ said that the Highers wanted to tell me something." He paused, and took a deep breath. "He said that they wanted me back, at Headquarters. Apparently, its been a huge mess with me leaving, and the only way to stop it is to bring me back."

Phil was deadly silent, and Dan was worried he was gonna explode, but he spoke calmly after a moment.

  "And leave me here?"

  He knew he'd forgotten something.

"No! They said that you could come with me, you could be a Reaper too."

"Do you want to go back, Dan?"

Dan paused, contemplating for a second because, honestly, he'd missed it a bit. Being a Reaper, going on a job, hell, he'd missed his room and his parents.

  "No, not really."

  "You hesitated."

"I don't want to go back unless you do."

Phil smiled softly at him, before walking over and wrapping his arms around his waist tightly. Dan hugged him back, resting his chin in Phil's black hair.

"I'll get to be with you?" Phil whispered, and Dan laughed quietly at his childlike tone.

"Of course. I'll never leave your side."

  "Then let's go back."
