Chapter 19

Hi y'all!!!

This is the second update in a week. I need to wrap this story up so I'm being fast as I could.

I think things I did in 2016 should remain in 2016. I mean it's a new start right? This story shows me that there is something I did this year and maybe, maybe I'll improve in 2017. That's the only thing that I expect to happen to myself.

On to the chapter!

Enjoy!

___

It has been two weeks since Asher realized that what he imagined as Annie's voice wasn't so. He could hear her voice before Alastair told him about having powers but he thought he was really imagining it. He wasn't. He should tell Annie about it, she had been asking him all the time if he was alright and he kept saying he was. It was a lie and Annie knew that, she didn't press much, he loved that about her. She would never force you into anything until she really wants to. Like when Asher told her that he loves her and she confessed her love too, there was a cliff from where the waterfall originated. She forced him to go cliff jumping with her, those were the things she forced him for. It was fun, though, she knew how to risk her life and have fun, that's how she lived.

She always said that adrenaline was a need to live. Without excitement, life was boring and she was right.

Calista knew about Asher's powers. She had been helping him too, it was Calista who said it was time Asher told Annie everything.

As the walk to Annie's dorm shortened, Asher was sure about telling Annie about his powers. He was about to knock the door when he heard voices. Asher panicked, those voices weren't laughing or talking loudly voices, they were screaming and shouting voices.

He found that the door wasn't locked and barged in. Asher groaned when he saw Annie and Amaya watching Age of Ultron, and cheering Iron Man.

Annie's attention went to her boyfriend who was standing at the door. Pressing the bridge of his nose and closed eyes.

"Asher!" Annie exclaimed as she paused the movie and came running to her boyfriend and hugged him.

Asher understood her excitement, they hadn't seen each other the whole day. It was an off and she and Amaya had gone to the town market to shop for dresses for the Annual Iilria Day Ball, which was in 2 days.

Asher spent his time with Dean, Rehan, and Leland, helping them with the security, and other things with the other boys of the school.

Before Asher hadn't discovered his powers, he was assigned a mentor, Rehan Raven whom he helped while training others rather than training himself.

Asher could combat, though, he was good with spears and swords. Once he had to duel with Annie. He wanted to go easy on her and let her win, but the challenging look on her face made him think otherwise. He won, but not easily, Annie was fast even when she didn't use her powers. Lacrosse was the reason of course, but not enough. She was careless in her movements and left a lot of space for the opponent to attack.

Theirs was a duel to watch, Asher and Annie's duel was more like they were teasing each other. Asher would touch her whenever he had a chance, and so would Annie. Annie fell with her sword on the other side as Asher had his sword which was pointing at Annie. Asher couldn't forget they grin she gave him when his sword pointed at her, it was an 'I trust you' mixed with an 'I'm proud of you' grin which made him keep his sword on the ground as he gave her a hand to get up which she happily took.

The other thing he couldn't forget was a fuming Dean after the fight. Dean wasn't angry because Annie lost, Asher could see that. He had known this for quite a while, even when he was in the Parallel Plane that Dean liked Annie. He liked her too much, and the day he got to know about Asher, Dean's heart was broken.

He wasn't sure how Annie didn't figure out. Even Amaya had. He looked at Amaya who looked sad as she saw Asher and Annie together. He could understand that she wanted the same with Dean. She was in love with that man while he had eyes for Annie.

"I missed you," Annie told him as she pulled away.

"I missed you too," Asher told her, kissing her cheek.

"Oh! I have to show you what I bought," Annie said excitedly, Asher had to smile. She was never a shopper, it's a wonder she readily accepted when Amaya asked her to go shopping with her.

"No, you will not. He'll see it at the party," Amaya said coming towards them.

"But..." Annie tried to argue, but Amaya held a hand stopping her.

"No buts, you are not going to show him your dress until the Ball," Amaya said strictly and Annie sighed.

"Okay, miss bossy. I won't," Annie sulked, Amaya smiled brightly.

"Okay, but tell me the color at least, I have to get a matching tie," Asher asked, and Annie grinned, Amaya rolled her eyes at them both.

"You give me so many couple goals, I am sick of it," Amaya told Asher who rubbed the back of his head not sure what to say. "It's white, though," Amaya revealed and Asher raised his eyebrows.

"White?" He asked his girlfriend.

"I'll take the credit for that, thank you," Amaya said proudly, and Annie rolled her eyes at her friend.

"Well, then I have a lot of work to do. I don't have a white tie," Asher told them.

"My dear Asher Black, as your self-appointed stylist, I would like to tell you that you don't need to do anything. We have already got you your outfit," Amaya told him, Asher looked at her with surprise.

"You did?" He asked, and Amaya nodded her head.

"With shoes and everything too. TJ knew your size, I don't want to know how" Amaya said wrinkling her face and Annie glared at her. Asher just shook his head, replaying what happened two weeks back in his room.

"I can't believe it you guys got my clothes. How do you know I would look good in it?" Asher asked.

"Did you know that your girlfriend is practically a stalker?" Amaya asked, and Annie pushed her lightly as Amaya hit her hand, "She decided everything, even checking if the size would fit you, or not. I have never seen her so particular about something," Amaya told Asher who looked at a blushing Annie who was glaring her friend.

"Amy!" Annie exclaimed, and Amaya waved her hands, stepping away, walking towards Annie's closet.

"Really? You did that for me?" Asher asked and Annie nodded looking down.

Asher's thought his heart would explode with happiness as he took her hand, and pulled her to him easily. He lifted her chin up so she could look at him, he was surprised by the shyness in her eyes. Annie was bold and fearless, this shyness was new to Asher.

"Thank you," Asher told her and bent down to kiss her forehead.

"I knew you would be busy with the preparations, and everything so I thought I should get your outfit," Annie told him.

"How did you know my size? I understand you had my t-shirts but the jacket and trousers?" Asher asked his girlfriend curiously.

A small smile appeared on her lips which Annie bit back, "I stole your favorite jeans and jacket while you weren't around. It was the 1st week, and I was losing my mind so I sneaked into your room, stole your clothes, and came back without Aiden knowing," TJ told him, still biting her lip.

"You're crazy" Asher gave a chuckle, "I love crazy," He told her making her grin.

"I love crazy too," Annie said and Asher kissed her nose.

"Oh god! No!" Amaya exclaimed. Asher and Annie pulled away, looking at her direction as she looked at both of them with a sullen look, a coat cover in her hand.

"What?" Annie asked Amaya.

"You both are too adorable, why can't you guys be less adorable, and fight all the time so I don't feel like a third wheel?" She groaned making Asher and Annie laugh.

"Annie! Don't make Amy feel like a third wheel. Stop finding ways to touch me," Asher said, loosening his grip and Annie gaped at him.

"Hey!" She exclaimed as she hit him on his bicep.

"Look, still finding ways to touch me. You're obsessed with me, admit it," Asher teased her, and Annie huffed and looked away.

"She's so obsessed with you Asher that she even knows what you are going to say," Amaya added as she put the coat cover on Annie's bed.

"How so?" Asher asked.

"Amy!" Annie exclaimed, giving her friend a warning glare.

"I'm not afraid of you. I can make your emotions change in a second," Amaya rolled her eyes, and Annie gave her an incredulous look.

"Go on Amy, if she even does anything, I'll protect you," Asher said, Annie gave him the same look of disbelief.

"You guys are ganging up on me! That's not fair. I need someone on my side!" Annie argued.

"Ignore her," Amaya said as she looked at Asher, "So we were at the store and the sales guy showed us different ties. There was a black tie with white stripes, and a dark navy one with dots, TJ was like, 'No, Ash won't like them both. He doesn't like any pattern on black, and he loathes dots. We will get him a plain dark navy tie because he would be happy, and kiss me till no tomorrow'," Amaya said, and Asher couldn't stop laughing.

"I didn't say anything about getting a kiss!" Annie defended herself.

"Yeah but you implied that you wanted one for selecting his clothes...maybe more," Amaya said nonchalantly, Annie's eyes widened as a blush crept up her face while Asher was busy laughing.

"Oh shit!" Asher laughed lightly before stopping as he held his stomach which was aching from the laughing. "What do you say, Amy? Should I give her what she wanted?" Asher winked at Amaya who giggled, and looked at her embarrassed friend and smirked.

"Go ahead," Amaya smirked, Asher returned the smirk.

Asher took Annie's hand and pulled her out of her room as he took her to the garden outside the dorm which was empty at the moment.

"So you want a kiss for selecting my clothes, or something else?" He asked suggestively, stopping her as he sat on the grass pulling Annie with him.

"I don't want anything, I just wanted to see the look on your face when you saw your clothes. That's it," Annie said, she was annoyed.

"We were just pulling your leg, Annie. You do that all the time," Asher said, bumping his shoulders with hers.

"Yeah, yeah. I just wanted to make it clear that I am not some lusty desperate girl. I just wanted to make you happy, which I haven't done like ever," Annie said looking at the grass with interest.

"Annie, look at me," Asher said and she obeyed, but not really looking at him, just the direction, she was still looking down.

Asher decided that showing her was the best possible way rather than telling her.

'I love you' Asher said aloud in his head as he tried to make Annie hear it.

Asher thought it worked because Annie's head snapped up as she looked at him with shock.

"Did you say something?" She asked him, and Asher nodded.

'I did,' He said in his mind again.

"Ash...?" Annie was speechless.

'I just did,' He said through his mind.

"You just spoke to me through your mind, just like you used to do it earlier," Annie pointed out, and Asher nodded. "Shit!" She said as she wrapped her arms around him. "You found out your powers!" She exclaimed excitedly as she held on to him more tightly.

Asher's strong arms pulled her to him as he returned the hug back.

"How did you know?" Annie asked him, pulling away, and looking at her boyfriend.

"When you went to your room that day, I thought I heard you laugh in my mind. First I thought I was imagining things but then I started hearing your thoughts. Not all just somethings like you wanted Amaya and Dean to be together, or you wanting to punch Emilia during your duel and strong feelings. I just tried talking to you in my mind. I was hearing you before too but I thought I was imagining. I talked to Ms. Thorton and she has been helping me since. Now it works two ways," Asher told her.

"Oh my gosh! Can you hear other's thoughts too?" Annie asked him and Asher shook his head.

"I can't. I tried with Raf, but if I could hear anything, it was so slow that I couldn't make what it was. Same with Ms. Thorton. With you, I can clearly hear you, make out the words. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. I was just trying to figure it out. But Ms. Thorton said it was the time I tell you and she was right," Asher confessed and Annie touched his face with her palm gently.

"You don't need to apologize, Ash. It's an amazing news, and I think we should tell others too," Annie said cheerfully but Asher shook his head making her frown, "Why not?" She asked.

"It's only you I can listen and talk to. I am not even sure if this counts as a power. It's not like I'm a major telepath like Professor X, Ms. Thorton agrees. There is no Enchanter who can do this," Asher pointed out and Annie gave out a short laugh.

"You are overthinking this. It's just me now, but we can work on it, and maybe you'll be the next Professor X. I bet Stan Lee didn't even know that real Professor X or Jean would exist when he wrote the comics," Annie cheered him up.

"I really want to know if we can find a real Wolverine. That would be cooler than being Professor X," Asher said, catching up with Annie's enthusiasm.

"Oh, oh! You are a telepath like Professor X and Dean is a telekinetic like Magneto! How cool is that!" Annie pointed out and Asher wanted to laugh at the irony. Dean hated him. When Asher didn't say anything, Annie continued, "And I'm like Blink, not fully because I can make Vortexes too but still," Annie mused.

"Yeah!" Asher smiled at her.

"I can't still get this out, it's so funny. You and Dean, Professor X and Magneto. Like that's ever going to happen, you both are practically brothers and Dean is too super sweet to be on the wrong side," Annie said and Asher felt the similar burning sensation he felt when Annie talked to, or about Dean.

"Those are fiction movies and scripted. I bet there is not even a bad guy here," Asher tried to divert the topic.

"Yeah," Annie said looking at the sky and then looking at Asher, "Let's go to Ms. Thorton. I want to thank her," Annie suggested and Asher nodded.

It was weird Annie was so attached to Calista. She never liked a teacher except for Coach Rogers whom she disliked in the start but grew to love him. Calista and Annie had a different relationship, it was more like a parental one, than a student- teacher one. Maybe because she was close to her parents, and Annie was like a daughter to her.

Calista had no family and being her close friend's daughter, maybe Calista treated her like the family she didn't have anymore. There was something Asher found weird. Even Alastair knew something, he could see that.

Maybe his telepathic skills were making him paranoid and overthink, and he was looking too deep for obvious things. It wasn't his business anyway. If Alastair, Calista, and her parents were hiding something from Annie, he wasn't the one who should find out, it was Annie who should. But she was unobservant like that, she would never figure it out. Just like she never figured out how much Dean likes her, which was obvious enough. Even Calista gave Dean a look of sympathy after Asher and Annie's duel, she could see his feelings too, why not Annie?

Annie the unobservant one, what would happen when the secrets will be revealed? No, Asher won't let her hurt alone. This time too he would stand in between his Annie, and the problems and make sure she's safe. Even if he had to die, for good.

***

Asher has powers too! Telepathy, now that's some cool stuff!

2 more chapters left and then it's done.
