Chapter 0: Another World's Help

Prologue Start

Weird...

Where the hell am I...?

Okay, let's slow down.... before I start freaking out... I just need to go over the things that I know and assuming that I didn't get abducted and brainwashed;

I'm Takeshita Watanabe, a third-year high school student in Sake Academy, average grades, no friends, I enjoy the solitude I gain from it.

Fuuuu..... At least that's intact.

I don't want to get sold and given some weird let name for the rest of my slavery days.

So, next plan; where the hell am I? Or more importantly, WHERE is HERE?

I see nothing but darkness. No roof ( not even a sky ), No walls or any kind of environment, no floor ( I wonder what I am currently standing on ), and a whole lot of nothing else.

It's just me and this entire black, empty, depressing void.

Is this Hell?

Then... did I die...?

Wait a minute.....

If I recall, I was in the school's library earlier this day doing some kind of the project;

Hence why I'm still wearing the school's blazer, some black slacks and a pair of black shoes.

Then I grabbed a book that looked like it was glowing.

I'm sure someone would say that it's just me seeing things but, I swear it had this...

Aura...

Like something beckoned out for me to grab it...

Ah, what the hell, it hurts my head just thinking about it...

Hmmm... What to do, what to do...

Maybe I could meditate?

I mean, there's nothing I could do for now and it seems that there's a whole lot of nothing inside this nothingness.

Wow, I can be a philosopher with this way of thinking.

These are groundbreaking thoughts right now.

I sat in complete silence, not a single breeze could be heard even if the room ( or whatever ) felt chilly.

I closed my eyes and stayed like that for a while, until;
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Ping!

Huh?

What was that?

I opened my eyes and box in front of me. It seemed flat, like a rectangular plane with text that I couldn't read.

It seemed too foreign to be American, or European as well.

Like it was from another world or something.

The hell is this?

I turn my head right, the box was there. I turn left and the box was still there.

It seems to follow me wherever I look.

Well, this is inconvenient...

Suddenly, a loud thud can be heard from somewhere. It sounded like a floodlight turning on.

I snap my head to that direction and spotted a rather elegant armchair.

It had some intricate engravings on the armrest.

A curved top rail.

Padded foam seat and everything.

Then, a light began to envelop the chair as it blinded me.

Are chairs always so majestic?

Once the light died down, I look back at the chair and saw something sitting on it.

SomeONE, in fact.

This, someone, turned out to be a girl.

One thing I can tell about this girl to describe is that she is drop-dead gorgeous.

Then, out of what may call creepy, she smiled at me.

I don't know about you but I'm feeling a bit stuffy.

With an elegant push, she stands up from that priceless chair and walked towards me.

"I'm sure you have some questions, Mr. Watanabe." She said with a calm voice.

I have several, one of them being; why do you have wings?

"So I shall give it my all on solving the questions your heart desires answers to~"

I open my mouth to speak, but I think every word just left my mouth.

No kidding.

I can't say anything actually.

"Oh! I apologize. You've been stuck in thought haven't you?" She asked.

I tilted my head in confusion.

Then it hit me, I couldn't say anything.

I genuinely don't have the ability to speak.

"Let me help you with your problem, little one."

The woman then held the sides of my head and soon I felt a small peck reach my forehead.

"There, surely the curse has been lifted."

Another box then appeared in front of me, a smaller rectangular plane.

But this time, I could actually understand the foreign characters written on it.

It read;

You've obtained a permanent effect: [ Goddess' Blessing ]
Access ( Status ) for more information.

"What the...?" I muttered out.

Wait, I can talk! Why haven't I been able to before?

Like something was stopping me to say anything.

The beauty before me then clapped her hands together once. Assuming that she's happy.

"I'm glad that I am able to help."

Knew it.

"Now, you do want to know what prevented you from speaking your mind. Correct?

I nod.

"To answer your question... That status is called [ Curse Of The Living ], it is where mortals are not able to speak to the divine beings."

"For what reason is that?" I asked.

For some reason though, talking seems to make my throat go parched.

"While many think that it's being insensitive, it works the other way around. Divine beings are not able to talk to mortals."

"But since that, we are in the abyss and you are still technically living, the curse is having a little trouble and soon I found a loophole." She continued.

Oh, that's understandable.

"Okay, let's get down to business. I'm sure you are dying to know why are you in the abyss." She said before

"Yes please," I replied with haste. The abyss is starting to stare back at me.

Creepy.

Then, the girl purposely coughed and straightened her clothes. Guess she was trying to look professional.

Spot on, woman. Spot on.

"Mr. Watanabe, I'm Alunia, goddess of the world known as Evermore."

Huh...

"I ask of your assistance because of one sole reason; is to save my world from a terrifying disaster." She continued.

So, weather problems? That severe?

"Is the world going to suffer from a Geostorm type of disaster?"

"I'm afraid not, the disaster I am referring to is him..."

The goddess created an orb, it spun rapidly and soon became clear. Like a glass globe or something.

It then showed an image. Scenery. It had a dark aesthetic, red skies, and pitch-black clouds and what really sold it is the large castle.

It zoomed in and there I saw it. The thing she was afraid of hitting the world, was right there.

Menacingly sitting on their throne with a crooked staff in one hand.

Red skin pointed horns and a devilish smile. No doubt about it, this guy is bad news.

"Irgramith, a true tyrant. Conquerer of countless worlds and mine just so happens to meet his interests." She looked down.

"That's bad... Isn't it?" I asked.

"Indeed. Irgramith would destroy anything in his path just to get what he wanted."

"If he gets it, he'll be much more powerful than he was before. The Demon King would be able to kill gods, such as me."

I can feel my insides... Telling me that I should do the right thing.

"If it wouldn't be troubling... Would you be the one to be the hero of this world..?"

I couldn't say anything. In fact, it might just give her the wrong idea.

"I-I see... I'm sorry for the sudden inconvenience. You shall return to your world-..."

Called it.

Without any control, I reach forward and grabbed her hand.

"E-eh..?"

Fuuuu... I'm probably gonna regret this later but what the heck...

She's asking for my help and I'm the only one that can help her.

"I cannot be the hero of the people, I'm not that type of guy. But I will be the one to save you from what you think is inevitable."

I had my eyes closed the whole time.

Then I heard sniffling.

Oh, dear.

I opened my eyes to see her crying, but with a smile on her face.

"Thank you... So much..!...."

She then gave me a hug, a tight one at that.

"... I wish you luck on your journey... Be careful, Mr. Watanabe..."

"I will..."

As everything went black, I can still feel the warmth of the goddess I promised to save.

And that's the start of my journey to defeat the Demon Lord; Irgramith.
