We settled into the guild nicely I've been studying magic while Claire was training in hand to hand combat it been a few days since we were summoned and after telling the truth of our appearance to the guild master and another man I know who he is but rather not say we were given a place here as long as we help out so we decided to focus on learning our skills and training just in case we need to fight I've been studying how to use healing magic so I'll help injured while Claire is learning different ways to fight she was already in martial arts in our world and has a black belt but she wants to learn how people fight here as well. "What do you mean the forest is close don't they know the danger we already had one attack we need to clear it out" the guild master said the adventurer he was talking to seemed concerned as well

"I tried but the guards said it was the royal family decision and that the other world heroes will deal with it to prove themselves to the citizens" he said before spotting me "should we discuss this somewhere else" he said the guild master shook his head

"she helping us so she has a right to know what going on" he said as I closed my book

"how many heroes are in the area I saw two at the inn when we arrived and their status was weak they had no combat skills" I said

"only five but they refused to let us see their status the two you met I've heard the trouble they caused the innkeeper the other three are scum and we think they have charm skills so I've been trying to limit contact but multiple people are missing now" he said I frowned before checking the book there a way to handle charm so I'll learn it now we may need it. The guild went in high alert as did the city apparently news was spread by the guards that the heroes went to stop the monster in the forest which put everyone in a panic we adventurers were asked to be on stand by while the city was locked down which angered the lord who tried to calm the people down and reopen the gates but it not working

"What bugging you sis we've been talking to people since the city went on lockdown" Claire asked I frowned

"the guild master mentioned missing people since we're immune to charm I asked if we could look into it and so far everything points to the lord and the house he gave the heroes" I said she frowned figuring out what I'm doing

"Then should we hit the house but even if we find the people is there a way to cure them from the charm" Claire said thoughtfully

"There was a spell in the book I was reading to remove charm and the other local lord is helping cause his daughter is one of the missing" I said "also the person we met talking to the guild master I don't know what his involvement is yet" I said she nodded

"Let help these people first so what the plan" she asked I smiled

"It simple the lord causing issues at the front entrance there a basement and back entrance I'll go through the back and you head to the basement it'll be locked so it makes sense if you break the door to get in also knock out any guards some might be charmed you'll be able to tell with your appraisal ability" I said she nodded

"I'll figure something out for the ones not charmed so they don't cause trouble are we sure the heroes are gone through it'll be bad if they are still there" she said

"thankfully they left before the lockdown and can't get back in that why the trouble going on about the lockdown so we have a good chance let take it while we can" I said she nodded with a smile. When the yelling started I picked the back door's lock and got in thankfully the place wasn't in bad shape and everybody was in good shape seems like the heroes were planning on it for a celebration of victory I don't want to know what they planned but we put an end to that the lord's men who weren't charmed were arrested the people charmed or locked in the basement were going home but suddenly the earth shook and we saw smoke from the direction of the gate

"That not good" Claire said putting her gloves on she brought them just in case I cursed under my breath

"My lord there a horde of monsters entering the city the adventurers are moving to help and miss Crystal your bag the guild mage said to bring it to you he said your weapons are in there too" a guard said handing me my bag I smiled nodding then quickly got my bow and sword out

"Callen did a good job releasing the seal now go join up with the others and clear out monsters my guard will help the people it time to show what a real lord should do" the lord said we nodded and went to the town defense.

There were a lot of monsters already in the city Claire went to help Callen and I found the elf girl who name is Ellen she joined the guild and to help the people came to fight I supported her with my magic and archery "we need to clear a way so the people can get to the guild" Ellen said I nodded making a path with my ice magic Ellen used that to help people to the guild then we kept moving however something was off and I'm not the only one who noticed there were undead enemies as well I also keep finding cards from monsters I defeat that I'm keeping in my bag for now. Once we got an area clear I took a look at the undead it looked like armored men most likely soldiers

"These were from the group that went with the heroes but something off why return as undead and attack the city what happened when they ran into the monsters" the guild master said I shook my head

"no I sense magic and I hate to say it but I think a necromancer was involved" Callen said walking over with Claire

"there also the wounds on the back that is caused by a blade" I said the guild master cursed

"this proves that the heroes could have caused this" he said "how are the other areas we need to make sure there no more undead in the city" he said as I got up "Crystal I need you and Ellen to return to the guild there many that needs healing and we need defenders until Callen's sister and her team arrives" he said we nodded heading back to the guild. While I was helping the people the others cleared out the city and bringing in injured some were attacked by the undead and the bites were infected with something I alerted the others and we started to prioritize the people bitten by the undead and showing symptoms even some adventurers came for treatment after a run in with some undead thankfully not all undead had this infection and the guild master will look into the cause at least the attacks were pretty much over and Callen's sister arrived to easily clean up the rest apparently they're part of a clan and they even offered us a place in the clan which I agreed with I know Claire agrees since we have twin connection which allows us to know what the others know so she knows what going on and I know her response so we can know what going on if we're separated but we haven't figured out everything it can do

"Alice one of our members is sick we need treatment" a man said angrily he glared at me before storming into the treatment room

"sorry about him it been stressful can anyone treat our bitten member" she said

"Everyone else is busy but I can treat the member" I said she smiled nodding and led me outside Ellen was using her magic when I walked over

"something wrong this isn't like the people inside it stronger I'm using my magic to slow it down" she said as I kneeled down and focused my own magic and we were able to cure it

"this does explain a theory I have Ellen are you a dark elf perhaps" Alice asked she nodded

"my mother was an elf but my father was a dark elf so I was forced out by the new elder who banned dark elves why are you asking" she said

"because dark elves have magic that good against poison and the fact that you helped him is proof whatever this is it a poison" Alice explained

"if we add that to the fact they weren't attack by monsters before coming back it safe to assume something happened before the fight" I said she nodded

"there more it a necromancer who brought them back" Callen said walking over with Claire she frowned

"not only that the undead are getting stronger we had some issues cleaning up the rest no bites thankfully" she said walking over to me and held out some more cards "found these taking out some monsters apparently they're summon cards maybe the book can help" she told me I nodded putting them in my bag

"could it be a lich" Alice asked Callen nodded

"most likely the guild master want us to look for it and deal with it" he said they nodded

"fine let move Davis first then Callen, Lisa, Donald, and I will go find any trace of the lich after I stop an idiot" she said as a crash happened. Once things settled down Claire and I studied the cards and discovered they're all monsters from the area I also took out my book

"Callen said to hold the card to the book page that all he knows" Claire said I nodded and picked up the first card it was a goblin card the touched the page with the card it glowed then disappeared and words appeared

"goblin ten percent" I read then looked at Claire "we need to sort the cards out by monsters" I said and she nodded as we went through the cards and Ellen walked over with a book

"I got a book on monsters the guild master said we can have it" she said I smiled and opened it we used it to help identify monsters and once I was done I could summon a goblin, a brown wolf, a brown hawk, and an earth slime I have points for goblin warrior, goblin archer, and goblin mage so I got a lot of monsters I can use we saw the lord being brought in cuffs and the guild master waved us over we walked over as the guild master started

"where are the heroes you have enough trouble as it is so help yourself before the royal family punishes you" he said the lord scoffed

"When the second prince is on the throne you'll pay for this the first prince is gone and the second prince won't allow you to do what you want" he said

"so my brother is behind this and probably the destruction of my room my father the king will be happy to hear that" the young man said and the lord's face went pale "we ask again where are the so called heroes they're wanted for multiple misdeeds" he said

"gone the prince called them to the capital before the attack only one was ordered to stay the necromancer knight who came with them" he said

"so they're gone guess I know where we're going next what I want to know is which idiot taught the necromancer how to use his magic" Alice said surprising us

"he was a squire for another hero sent here to help he was a little concerned but he relaxed and he knew what he was doing" he growled

"apparently not we found what left of him he turned into a lich we took him out I found this on him Crystal do you recognize it" Alice asked handing me a ring

"this is badly made most likely from somebody in the craft club so definitely a hero it has a curse on it" I said

"I'll study the curse" Callen said taking it the lord was gagged by the prince

"we must return to the capital" he said

"we're coming too we still need to stop the heroes after all" I said they nodded

"I'll come to if you'll let me join too" Ellen said surprising me Alice smiled nodding

"then we need to prepare we'll leave in a week make sure you're ready to go" she said we nodded and I asked if I could borrow the guild crafting area it time to move on.
