Ch 3: Mondstadt Part 1
A/N: I don't own anything.
Enjoy!
Teyvat, close to Mondstadt
Third Person POV:
Amber: So, suspicious travelers, what are you doing in Mondstadt?
Dimitri: Don't ask me. Ask Lumine and Paimon.
Paimon: Lumine got separated from her brother during a really, really long journey. Paimon is her travel buddy, helping her to find her brother.
Lumine: Yep.
Amber: Oh, looking for your family...huh. How about you Dimitri?
Dimitri: Don't even get me started onto how I even got here.
Irina: I would suggest that you know the operator's full story later, Amber.
Amber: I see. Ah...okay! Let me finish my other stuff first, and then I can help put up posters around the city...
Paimon: What exactly is it you need to finish doing first?
Amber: It's simple. You'll understand in a bit. (points to somewhere) There's something strange over there, let's take a look.
Irina: Understood, marking your route now.
Irina then shows the route to where Amber has designated.
Dimitri: Alright, lead the way Amber.
They all manage to get there to find some hilichurls, after Lumine pressed on a teleport waypoint.
Paimon: Ah! A hilichurl!
Irina: Hostile ahead. 10 o'clock.
Dimitri: Got you in my sights. (takes out his AK-105 bullpup)
He then shoots the hilichurl easily, killing it in one shot.
Amber: Wha-what?
Lumine: How? Is he that powerful.
Dimitri. No. Anyways, Lumine, here, have this.
He then gives her a AK-12.
Dimitri: There are 3 of them up this hill, which means we can sync shot this.
Amber: Sync shot?
Dimitri: Fire at the same time, killing all 3 of them. That way it won't become much of a nuisance.
Lumine: But how do I exactly use this?
Dimitri then sighs.
Dimitri: Aim down the sights on the target, then shoot when I command you to. Amber, take out your bow.
Amber nods and takes out her bow.
Amber: These monsters have been getting too close to the city recently. My task is to clear out their camp.
Dimitri: That should be easy.
He then leads them near the camp.
Dimitri (does a cover motion): Stay down.
Both Lumine and Amber duck their heads.
Dimitri: Lumine, you take the hilichurl on the left tower. Amber, you take the one on the right. I'll take the one sitting. Weapons up.
Amber raises her bow up at the right tower hilichurl, but Lumine is in a bit of struggle, since she doesn't know about firearms yet, but she does it anyways.
Dimitri (aiming down his target): Ready?
Amber: Ready.
Lumine: Ready.
Dimitri: Fire.
All three of them fire at the hilichurls, sync shooting and killing all three of them.
*TOW!*
*TOW!*
*PHOOSH!*
Lumine: Woah.
Dimitri: Good kills, good kills.
He then gave a thumbs up to Lumine, who blushed.
Amber: Heh, nothing to it. Though I've gotta say, you surprised me a little with your moves there...especially the sync shot.
Dimitri: Well you guys still have a lot to learn about modern warfare. It isn't just sync shotting and going in guns blazing. It's about the tactics. This is a perfect example. Going in as a small fireteam makes us more flexible than a large army.
Lumine: I see. You seem to be well versed in the art of war.
Dimitri: Well, I am a soldier after all. A modern soldier that is.
Lumine: Futuristic for us.
Dimitri: Definitely.
Amber: Anyways, thanks for the backup. How'd it feel?
Dimitri: To be honest, well, you know.
Amber: Of course you. With your powerful assault rifles, it's easy for you. How about you Lumine? How was your first time with one of the "modern" weapons?
Lumine: I can see why Dimitri is so powerful. With one shot of his rifle, any type, he can down a hilichurl. I'm sure that it'll be no sweat for him.
Paimon: Now that you mention it, how is it the hilichurls ended up here? These creatures don't seem like the type to set up camp so close to cities like this.
Dimitri: Strange.
Irina: Indeed operator.
Amber: Exactly. It's more normal for them to be much further out in the wilderness. But because the dragon -- Stormterror -- has been around a lot more recently, our orchards have been destroyed and the local market has been affected as well. When the storms hit, we usually end up with at least a few injuries, so the Kinghts of Favenius have been tied up doing the best they can to defend the area.
Dimitri (muttering): And here I'm wishing reinforcements arrived.
Irina: Until the situation is resolved and you can link up with the SSO and the 75th Rangers, your objective has not changed. Survive.
Dimitri: Right. And the only way I'll survive is-
Irina: By staying with Lumine. She knows the way better than you do, operator.
Paimon: So these annoying creatures have been getting closer and closer to the city?
Amber: Exactly. That said, clearing this camp helped make the area a little bit safer. Come with me! A responsible knight must make sure to see you to the city safely.
Dimitri: I would have so much doubts now.
Irina: Operator, remember, we are not on Earth. It won't be as easy as storming an ISIS compound-
Dimitri: I know, I know.
Lumine: Let's continue to Mondstadt.
Dimitri: Rog'.
As the three of them headed to the city, a few Anemo slimes appeared in their way. Dimitri pulled out his AK-105 and shot all three of them in consecutive shots.
*TOW-TOW-TOW!*
DImitri: Too easy to break.
Amber and Lumine were still shocked over how powerful his weapons are.
Amber: He could've taken on a whole army by himself!
Lumine (blushing and muttering): And he's handsome and cute as well.
Amber (teasing and whispering): You like him don't you, traveler.
Lumine's face blushed even redder.
Lumine: Baka! Urusai!
Amber (laughing): Okay. But on a serious note though, let's continue.
They continued on their way, collecting materials along the way.
Paimon: What's that...? It smells so good!
Dimitri: Well let's see what they're up to.
The three of them then talk to a adventurer, Lynn.
Lynn: What should I cook next...? (looks to Lumine and Dimitri) Ih, are you travelers from around here as well?
Paimon: No, we just happen to be passing by. (sniffs) What are you cooking? Smells good!
Dimitri: Guess Paimon likes food.
Paimon: Hey!
Dimitri (chuckles): Okay, continue.
Lynn: I see. Welcome, travelers! I'm Lynn, the survival expert of the Adventurers' Guild. As you can see, I'm experimention with some new recipes. "Eat before you go" -- The first rule to the "Wilderness Survival Guide".
Paimon: A picnic! Oh, Paimon just loves picnics!
Dimitri chuckles while the two girls giggled behind Paimon.
Paimon: My travel partner here is good at cooking as well!
Lumine: Er...I guess you are right. I love cooking as well.
Lynn: Oh. There's a cooking pot right here. Show me what you got! It's good to have someone to practice with. There are some Mushrooms and meat in the barrel over there (points to a barrel), Try making a Chicken Mushroom Skewer for me.
Lumine goes to the barrel and picks up the ingredients. She then cooks up a skewer for Lynn.
Lynn: Is it done? Mmm...smells good! (tastes it) Hmm..the seasoning is just right. Tastes pretty good.
Paimon: Paimon told you so!
Lynn: With your culinary skills, you should try more difficult dishes. Ok, I've got some raw ingredients in my bag. Have them in return for this meal.
Paimon: Can we really have them? Won't you run out of ingredients?
Lynn: That's okay. You should be able to find lots of ingredients when exploring the wilderness. Don't forget to look carefully. There's also a restaurant in Mondstadt known as the Good Hunter that sells food and ingredients. Go have a look when you've got the time.
Paimon: Okay, thank you for the info. (gasps) Hey! Leave some Chicken Mushroom skewers for Paimon!
Dimitri: Alright. Let's get moving.
Lumine and Amber: Right.
Dimitri then sprinted ahead of them.
Amber: Hey! Not so fast!
Dimitri: I'm a Special Forces operator! That's why I can sprint fast!
Lumine: Not so fast to the point where you outpace us!
Dimitri: Well too bad! See ya! (sprints to Mondstadt's gate)
Lumine: Dimitri baka....
Amber: Let's get after him!
The two girls then sprint after Dimitri.
Gates of Mondstadt
Dimitri waited for the two girls at the gate, laughing as they caught up to him.
Dimitri: Did you both had a good time catching up to me?
Lumine: Shut up baka!
Dimitri: Okay....tsundere.
Lumine blushed of course.
Amber: Anyways, we should head in. Let me officially introduce the city of wind, dandelions, and freedom-
Dimitri: This isn't the United States, no need to say freedom as well. (chuckling)
Amber: Travelers under the protection of the Knights of Favonius -- Welcome to Mondstadt!
Paimon: Finally, no more having to camp outdoors!
Dimitri: Irina?
Irina: I highly suggest to approach this with caution. Treat this as an Iraqi city. You may not know what may pop up.
Dimitri: Acknowledged.
Paimon: -But...the city folk don't look too cherry.
Amber: Everyone's been put out of place by the Stormterror recently. But everything will turn out fine as long as jean's with us!
Lumine: Jean?
Amber: Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius --Jean, Defender of Mondstadt.
All Spetsnaz: *laughs in Spetsnaz noises*
Dimitri: Okay....
Amber: With Jean on our side, surely even the vicious Stormterror will be no match for us.
Lumine: Sounds like someone impressive.
Amber: Before I take you guys to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. I have a present for you, Lumine. It's a reward for helping me clear out that hilichurl camp.
Paimon: He-hey! Why doesn't Paimon get a reward?
Amber: Ahh...because this reward is useless to you, Paimon. But I'll treat you to a tranditional Mondstadt delicacy -- Sticky Honey Roast. Come with me, we'll head to the city's ahh...high ground.
Dimitri: What an impressive Star Wars reference you have there.
Amber: Star Wars?
Dimitri: Something too advanced for you to know.
Irina: Initiating route.
The route was then given through Dimitri's HUD.
Dimitri: Received. Moving.
They all rushed through the city center.
Amber: This used to be a bustling street...but with so many Stormterror attacks recently, the usual crowds are nowhere to be seen. Except for the local tavern near the city wall over there. They haven't been affeted, if anything, their business is better than ever.
Amber then lead them to a well, somewhere off the city center.
Amber: So, the present I want to give you is...a wind glider! Outriders use them to ride the wind, and the people of Mondstadt love using them too. I brought you here to give it to you so you can experience it right away!
Irina: Don't worry operator, you have a jetpack for this occasion.
Dimitri: Jetpack?
Irina: Yes. A jetpack.
Dimitri: Hm. Nice.
A/N: Dimitri's jetpack is the one used in COD: AW.
Paimon: Oh, you're really excited about these wind gliders, huh!
Amber: Well that's because the wind is the heart and soul of Mondstadt! Alright then, enough talk! Let's give it a whirl! It's easy to use, but you still need to pay attention to my instructions.
Lumine does the instructions that Amber said.
Irina: Operator, it's time for you to get to know your jetpack. Deploy it now.
Dimitri does what Irina says and deploys it.
Irina: Usually jetpacks have fuel, but yours is modified so that it has unlimited fuel and range. Try moving forward and then coming back down.
Dimitri follows the instructions as Irina says.
Irina: Good, now you should be fine, operator.
Once Dimitri was done, he then went back to Lumine and Amber, who were looking at the sky turning a dark color.
Amber: The sky...
Stormterror the dragon then targeted the city and people started to run. The Stromterror also created three tornadoes.
Irina: Three tornadoes inbound, operator.
Dimitri: I know.
He then started to think.
Dimitri: Вызов, МиГ-35. (Summon, MiG-35.)
Irina: Так точно. (Yes sir.)
A MiG-35 jet then materialized out of thin air, letting Dimitri soar into the sky. Lumine was then caught by a tornado, but used her glider to stay afloat in mid air.
Paimon: Huh, Lumine? How are you staying like this with just a Wind Glider?
Mysterious voice: I'm preventing your fall with the power of a thousand winds. Now, concentrate. See yourself. See yourself grasping the wind. Harness its energy.
Lumine then shot some wind shots at the dragon. Dimitri meanwhile started to close in.
Dimitri: Now let them see, the power of the Russian bear! Fox 3!
Irina: Fox 3.
Multiple R-77 missiles struck the dragon.
Lumine: What was that?!
Dimitri: That my friend, is the power of modern jet technology.
The Stormterror then went for the MiG-35.
Dimitri: Oh so you want to play huh? Well let's get dirty! Afterburners on!
Irina: Afterburners activated.
The jet then sped away faster than the dragon could catch up to.
Dimitri: Gonna perform a J maneuver. Watch out Lumine.
Lumine: Got it.
Dimitri then perform a J maneuver and got the dragon on his 12.
Irina: Bandit is now on your 12.
Dimitri: Well, let's splash him. Fox 3!
Irina: Fox 3.
Several R-77 missiles deployed out of the jet and splashed onto the dragon. The Stormterror then flew away after the damage sustained from the missiles.
Dimitri: Serves him right.
He then opened the cockpit of the jet and jumped out in a HELO jump, his oxygen mask still on his face and descending back down to Teyvet in a fast speed.
Irina: 10,000 feet, 5,000 feet, 3,000 feet, 1,000 feet, 500 feet.
At 500 feet, Dimitri deployed his parachute. Lumine did the same and used her glider to get back down to Tevyet. Once she touched the ground, she rushed to hug Dimitri.
Lumine: Are you hurt?
Dimitri: No.
Amber then came up to them as well.
Amber: Are you two alright?
Dimitri: I guess so.
??? (Kaeya): So....you two actually have the power to go up against the dragon...are you two new allies, or new storms?
Lumine and Dimitri had stern looks on their faces.
Amber: Stormterror....is attacking Mondstadt itself! Kaeya, Lumine, you've come at the right time. We must...
Kaeya: Hold on Amber. Are you perhaps forgetting to introduce us?
Amber: Oh...right. This is Kaeya, our Calvary Captain. These three are travelers are travelers from afar, Lumine, Paimon.
Kaeya (points to Dimitri): And who are you?
Dimitri: Captain Dimitri Kavkaz. Russian Special Forces, and former United States Army 75th Ranger Regiment.
Kaeya: Russian Special Forces?
Dimitri: In your case, I'm from not only a different world, but also from the future.
Kaeya: Ah. i see. That explains your technology.
Dimitri: Yep.
Kaeya: From afar? Is that all we know of them?
Amber: Er...long story short...
Amber then explains the story.
Kaeya: I see. Welcome to Mondstadt -- though you haven't arrived at the best of times, I'm afraid. I understand the anguish of being separated from family. I'm not really sure why you're looking for the Anemo God...but everyone has their secrets, right? Haha, relax, I won't press you for more...first and foremost, on behalf of the Knights of Favonius, I would like to extend our thanks to you both for your help just now.
Lumine: Well, we couldn't just leave the situation to fester.
Kaeya: Correct. Your fight just now against the dragon just now was witnessed by no small number of citizens, especially you with your..er...
Dimitri: Jet. Or to be more exact a MiG-35.
Kaeya: Yes. The Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius is also very interested in meeting you and formally invites you both to our headquarters.
Lumine then glided towards the headquarters while Dimitri activated his jetpack to get to there.
Paimon: This seems to be the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. Let's head in.
They both head for the door.
Paimon: This is the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. Let's take a look inside.
Inside the HQ
Jean was staring at the clock, while Lisa was in the library.
Lisa: Jean, what's the hurry? I thought we agreed to meet them here.
Jean: There have been sightings of Stormterror outside the city. Once we meet, we must-
Lisa: Relax, I'll lend a hand when the time comes.
The door opens and Kaeya leads Amber, Dimitri, Lumine, and Paimon in,
Kaeya: Jean. I've brought them.
Kaeya then told the story.
Kaeya: -And once it was over, I brought them here.
Jean (nods): Mondstadt welcomes you, windborne travelers.
Dimitri then saluted, to which everyone become confused.
Dimitri: It's a greeting in my world to show respect to a superior officer.
Lumine: I see....
Jean: I'm Jean, Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius. (motions to Lisa) And this is Lisa, our resident Librarian.
Lisa: Oh! Are you three sweeties here to help us out? Oh, you're so adorable.
Dimitri: Er..... (puts back on oxygen mask) Yeah pretend I didn't hear that.
Lisa: Stormterror has caused quite a ruckus in the region since its recent resurgence. Simply put, Mondstadt's elemental sphere and ley lines are now akin to a yarn ball in the paws of a kitten. For a mage, it couldn't get worse. My skin is one elemental particle away from a full blown breakout.
Jean: If it weren't for this interference, the Knights of Favonius would have better ways to help you than just putting up missing person posters. We simply ask that you repose in Mondstadt while we help you seek your brother.
Lumine: I should help you out too.
Paimon: Paimon will help too!
Dimitri: Well...I guess I don't have more choice, seeing as I'm strangled in a world unlike mine.
Kaeya: Good, in that case, we need a plan.
Jean: With Stormterror now directly attacking Mondstadt, we may have an opportunity to cut this problem from its source. Lisa has revealed the sources of Stormterror's power with her detection magic.
Kaeya: Is that so?
Lisa: They're located in the abandoned Four Winds' Temples. Stormterror's ability to whip up these kinds of storms can be attributed to it drawing power from the temples.
Jean: Our objective is to deal with three of the four temples.
Dimitri: So we're doing a Search and Destroy mission.
Jean: Huh?
Dimitri: The idea in Search and Destroy is find what were looking for, destroy it, then get out as quickly as possible. Although, I'm not sure how we can do it without Air Assault supporting us.
Jean: Right. Anyways, I trust everyone understands why we are only dealing with three.
Paimon: Paimon doesn't.
Lumine: It must be a local thing.
Jean: Knights of Favonius, time is against us. The storm is rampant. There is no point in maintaining a defensive position. Alright, we need to take initiative and act before the situation escalates.
Dimitri: Right. Now, Lisa, how do we fight the Stormterror?
Lisa: A way to fight the Stormterror? Sorry, but there is no way to fight it alone...judging by the level of its Anemo power, it's definitely not an ordinary creature. I could teach you elemental basics, so you'll have an idea what I'm talking about.
Dimitri: Alright. Jean?
Jean: Yes?
Dimitri: Are all knights as, well, how should I say, "strict" as Amber?
Jean: I heard that you and Outrider Amber had a misunderstanding. Talk to Amber sometime. I'm sure you'll like how energetic she always is.
Dimitri: Okay.
Amber: Wanna team up with me? Huh, I should warn you though, I don't slow down for anyone, greenhorn or otherwise.
Dimitri: Well you have a hard time keeping up with me, even with my 50-80 pounds worth of gear, so yeah. Though I'll keep it in mind.
Lumine: Jean says you're pretty reliable.
Amber: With Jean by our side, there's nothing that can stand in our way! ...At least, that's what I wanna say...
Dimitri: Okay?
Amber: She always dashes headlong into the heat of battle, and we want her to take better care of herself. I really hope that one day, I can look at Jean in the eye and tell her she doesn't need to worry anymore, because we have her back...
Dimitri: Alright. Anyways, Lumine, Amber, we should get going. Also, we'll be using something that you probably never seen before.
Amber: What is it?
Dimitri: A GAZ Tigr-M.
A/N: Author here, yeah I'm lazy about writing a whole chapter on Mondtadt, so I'm gonna split it. Anyways, hope you enjoyed! Remember to review and vote!
Have a nice day!
