[1] Lunch
"Watch out, girls, the pyro's headed our way," Lucy smirked to her friends. "Better get the water ready."
"I never would've set the table on fire if you hadn't knocked my hand over," Natsu growled angrily as he made his way over to her.
"Look, Dragneel," Lucy said with false sweetness, "it's okay to make mistakes. We all make them. Like your parents, for example, when they decided to have you."
"Shut up, Barfilia! You think your parents wanted you?"
"No, I know they wanted me. And Barfilia?" Lucy scoffed. "How mature."
"You think you're one to talk about maturity?"
"Yeah, I do, actually."
"You want to go?" Natsu slammed his head against Lucy's. "I'll take you down easy, girl or no girl. Oh wait, I forgot. You aren't one."
"First of all, it's easily," Lucy hissed, pushing her forehead against Natsu's. "And second, are you sure you want to do this here? I doubt you'd want to be beaten by a girl in front of what you call your friends."
The two growled, ready to fight, when both were pulled apart by their friends.
"Hey!"
Lucy turned around to see Erza Scarlet dragging her back, while Natsu was grabbed by Gray Fullbuster.
"Erza, let me go! I'll send that idiot flying with my Lucy Kick."
"Lucy Kick or not, you should stop getting involved with him when you don't have to," Erza responded. "Let's just go to Lunch. I heard dessert is strawberry cake, today."
"Of course you heard that," Lucy grumbled. "And let me go, will you? I'm not going to go chasing after him."
Erza finally loosened her grip, allowing Lucy to walk like a normal person.
"Juvia thinks Erza-san did well in stopping you and Natsu from fighting," Juvia Lockser supplied. "If either of you got severely hurt, it could be bad for your families."
"Yeah, Lu-chan," Levy McGarden, the last of Lucy's group added. "If he hurt you, or vice versa, your families would attack each other."
"Well, it's not my fault that idiot chose to talk to me," Lucy grumbled as she and her friends stood in line for lunch. "And some help you guys were. I saw where your eyes were focused on. Or who, I should probably say."
Levy looked away, blushing and stammering in denial, but Juvia did the exact opposite.
"Juvia doesn't think that it is fair that she cannot be with her Gray-sama," she wailed.
"Are you still referring to him like that?" Lucy groaned as the four of them finally took their seats. "No offense, Juvia, but he isn't yours."
"Juvia is waiting for the day Gray-sama will finally become hers," the bluenette gushed with hearts in her eyes. "Until that day, she will wait patiently --"
"-- by trashing the lockers of the girls who try to flirt with him," Erza interrupted, waving a fork at her.
"-- for Gray-sama to finally accept Juvia's love," Juvia finished happily, completely ignoring what Erza just said.
Lucy shook her head. "What's so good about Dragneel's friends, anyways? If they're hanging out with him, there has to be something wrong with them."
"Gajeel may not look it, but he can actually be really nice and funny!" Levy suddenly said. "There's nothing wrong with him."
The other girls exchanged not-so-secret glances with each other, smirking.
"Sure," Lucy sang.
"Whatever you say," Erza added.
All the girls at the table, except for Levy, knew that she had a thing for Gajeel Redfox, the transfer from Phantom Lord Academy, along with Juvia.
"Gajeel-kun can be okay when he wants to be," Juvia said before drinking her water. "Although, he was much worse at our old school. He kept to himself a lot and bullied a lot of kids who were smaller than him."
"Well, he doesn't do that now," Levy countered. "And besides, PLA was a school for delinquents. Um, sorry, Juvia," Levy mumbled when she remembered Juvia had also come from there.
"Juvia doesn't mind," Juvia said, waving her hand. "But Juvia isn't a delinquent anymore."
A few tables away from them, a girl groaned.
"Who keeps flooding my locker with water?" she shrieked with annoyance as Juvia casually took a sip of her water. "I got this bag yesterday. And my homework is soaked. Ugh, Dreyar's going to kill me."
"Oh yes, Juvia, you're definitely not a delinquent anymore," Lucy said before smirking. "But poor girl. Dreyar might be young and hot, but he needs to get his attitude checked."
Levy made a face. "Ew, that's just gross, Lu-chan."
Lucy made a face back. "Don't worry, I'm not into teacher-student relationships. Besides, he's the Fairy Tail High's head's grandson."
"Are you guys talking about Laxus?" Next to Lucy, a white-haired girl plopped into the empty seat next to her. Mirajane Strauss, or just Mira, reached for Lucy's banana. "He may seem cold at first, but he can be really sweet."
"Hm, maybe Mira's into teacher-student relationships," Lucy teased. "Don't worry, Mira," she whispered loudly, "we'll keep this a secret. We support it."
"Ha ha," Mira responded flatly. "He said to just call him that because it's confusing to call both him and Mr. Dreyar the same thing."
Erza sighed loudly. "I guess that's the perks of being the head's assistant. You're on a first-name basis with all the teachers. If I were close with them, I would never fail another test."
"Yeah, but it means I have no free periods," Mira said, seemingly not hearing Erza's last sentence. "Well, I have to go back, now. See you all." She stood up and left, only stopping to take half of Lucy's sandwich.
"Oh, I guess she only has time to steal my lunch, then," Lucy sighed.
"Eh, I wouldn't complain. You look like you need to go on a diet."
Lucy sighed loudly, the irritation clearly present in the exhale of air. She turned around in her seat to face Natsu, Gray, and Gajeel.
"Why are you here?" she asked flatly. "Did you miss me? I'm flattered, but you're not my type. Leave while I'm being polite."
Natsu laughed loudly. "You think I like you? Wow, you really do have to watch what you eat." He tsked loudly, shaking his head. "And to think someone with your brains will have to take over a business one day."
In the blink of an eye, Lucy had grabbed her full cup and splashed its contents all over Natsu's face.
"Oh no!" Lucy said in mock-horror. "Did I just do that? I have no idea how that happened. I was going to drink water, but the cup suddenly flew out of my hand. Although, it is your fault for being there in the first place, so you have no one to blame but yourself." She turned back to face her friends, but she felt something wet hit the back of her head. She whipped her head back around and barely controlled her rage.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" she screamed, getting up from her seat.
"I don't know," Natsu smirked, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "I was drinking water but it suddenly flew out of my mouth. Although, it is your fault for being there in the first place, so you have no one to blame but yourself."
Lucy felt her skin broil as the three idiots in front of her began laughing.
"Lu-chan, you shouldn't antagonize them," Levy said, reaching over to pull Lucy back to her seat. "It'll only make things worse, and you'll just --"
Shoving away from her friend, she tilted her head back, allowing Erza's tea to enter her mouth, then aimed for Natsu's face.
Except she missed, so it landed on Gray's.
"What the hell was that for?" he roared, facing Lucy.
"Well, it wouldn't have happened if you hadn't been standing around there like an idiot!" Lucy roared back. "You should stop hanging around that idiot, he'll get rid of your brain cells even quicker."
Before Gray could reply, Juvia ran up to Gray.
"Juvia will help you get rid of the tea, Gray-sama," she gushed, dabbing at Gray's clothes and skin.
"What the hell? Get off me!" Gray finally pushed Juvia away when she started to take Gray's jacket off.
However, as Juvia got pushed back, she bumped into Gajeel, who was just about to drink his soda. Ultimately, both got knocked down, the soda flying all over them.
"This is all your fault, you crazy Rain Woman!" Gajeel yelled as he dipped his right sleeve into a puddle of soda. "What are you going to do about my jacket?"
"Your jacket is not of Juvia's concern," Juvia replied as she tried to get up. "Juvia will only help her Gray-sama."
"Guys!" Levy ran to the duo who kept failing to get up from the wet mess. "Here, I'll help you first." She reached for Juvia's hand but missed, falling on top of Gajeel, instead.
"Ugh, you're no help at all, Shrimp," Gajeel grumbled as he pushed Levy off of him.
As all this occurred, Erza was trying to separate Lucy and Natsu from a very heated argument.
"This is all your fault, you pink-headed freak!" Lucy yelled at Natsu as she pushed Erza's arm away.
"It's salmon!" Natsu snapped back. "And this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't thrown water at my face."
"No, this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't come talk to me in the first place," Lucy countered angrily. "So I was right, this is all your fault!"
"Oh, you wanna go?"
"Yeah, I do wanna go!"
"Guys, stop this nonsense right now, before I --"
"SHUT UP!"
At the same time, Lucy and Natsu pushed Erza away from them, causing her to crash into the table next to them.
"FIGHT!" Cana Alberona, one of Lucy's other friends suspected for carrying alcohol in her water bottle, stood on top of her table before throwing herself at some guy.
Pretty soon, the entire room went into total chaos, until everybody was fighting somebody, whether it was with fists, words, food, or utensils.
"Now look what you've caused, you blonde bimbo," Natsu growled, fists ready.
Lucy growled. "Who're you calling a bimbo?" With one move, she grabbed Natsu's hair, forcing him to his knees.
"Oh, so that's how you want to do it, huh?" With gritted teeth, Natsu forced his right hand up to grab at Lucy's blonde locks. "Two can play that game." He yanked his arm down, Lucy's hair still in his fist, forcing Lucy to fall to the ground.
Within a second, they were attacking each other's faces with one fist, the other too busy grabbing onto the other person's hair, the dominant changing every thirty seconds.
"ENOUGH!"
At this one word, almost all movement stopped. Juvia, Gajeel, and Levy stopped flailing around on the floor. Gray stopped taking his clothes off. Erza stopped eating her strawberry cake, which she had somehow gotten in the midst of all the confusion.
Only Lucy and Natsu kept attacking each other, grunting as they rolled around back and forth.
Eventually, the man who had spoken before marched over to the squabbling couple, easily separating them.
"Mr. Dreyar?" the both of them said.
Without a word, the head of Fairy Tail High dragged the both of them out of the cafeteria and into his office.
