Chapter 2: Beautiful Stranger

Hello my beasties! Yes it is me again, and I finally have the next chapter of my Missi x reader story ready! Also, the song above kind of inspired the title of the chapter and will actually be in it! I kind of decided it will be your introduction to Missi in this chapter because it fits with where I want the story going. So away we go my beasties.......

Stepping inside of the darkened hall, you gazed around in awe of your surroundings.

Words could hardly describe how amazing it was.

It kind of looked like the Ravenwood manor from Beautiful Creatures and the Disneyland haunted mansion all rolled into one!

You moved further into the hall gazing at the gothic splendor around you, when a blinding pain suddenly went through your vision, causing you to grab onto one of the stone gargoyles by the door for support.

What was happening to you? Why were you feeling so strangely?

But as soon as the feeling had started, your head cleared and you were able to start down the hall.

This place was beautiful and all, but the real question was, who would live here, away from all human contact, in a gothic castle surrounded by monsters....

As you moved through the hall, you could hear what sounded like someone following you.

Expecting the worst, you turned around only to see a small, black and whit striped cat, that seemed to be staring up at you in confusion.

Yeah you guessed it my beasties! It's Minose! Our adorable little cat that seems to have some demon-like powers from these drawings!

Breathing a sigh of relief, you knelt down and stretched out your hand, stroking the cat behind the ears.

The cat, wary at first, soon began to make purring noises as you scratched behind his ears

"Awww. Hey little guy, what are you doing here?"

Suddenly, you heard something coming upstairs from the balcony. It sounded like.....

Footsteps?

The cat's ears immediately pricked up and it shot up the stairs, leaving you slightly confused and annoyed that it had left.

"Wow. What a wuss-puss...." You muttered to yourself.

Then, you noticed a light coming up from the balcony.

You started up the stairs.......

Missi's P.O.V:

It had started out as a fairly peaceful night for her. Over the past week, since she had thrown Duke out of his castle, she had plenty of time to herself to practice her magic and read books from the castle's huge library.

Even that voice that had come in to her head when she had grabbed the staff, "Lilith", had been mostly silent, clearly pleased at her work.

She had been reading a particularly interesting volume about "the Night things" (or goblins as they typically called), when she felt the presence of something enter the castle.

Who could it be at this hour?

Even though she was a vampire now, she wasn't fully used to all of her new senses yet, so this was particularly confusing for her.

Then, an evil smile formed on her face.

Of course! It was so clearly obvious!

Duke had obviously foolishly re-entered the castle to try and reclaim it!

You think her would have learned not to mess with her after what she had done to him! But oh well, at least she'd have a bit of fun messing with him......

She shifted into her shadow form and quickly arrived in the small room above the main hall. Her thoughts of revenge were soon interrupted by a "A-hem" form Minose, her familiar.

"Mistress, there's an intruder in your castle..."

Missi, clearly annoyed with him, snapped back: "Of course there is! You don't think I would be here right now if there wasn't?"

She then grasped the staff tightly in her hands.

"So where is he?"

Minose looked confused. "What do you mean by he?"

"You know who I'm talking about Minose, its Duke isn't it? Well, I'll show him what happens when you mess with me...."

Rolling his eyes, Minose replied: "You didn't let me finish. There is an intruder in the castle, but its not Duke."

Missi's evil smile faded. "Then who is it?"

Minose smirked. "Why don't you see for yourself...."

Pulling back the curtain in the doorway, Missi peered out at the hallway.

She gasped.

The intruder wasn't Duke, it was a human girl! She wore jeans and a t-shirt, had leaves tangled in her h/l, h/c hair, and......

She was sort of pretty.....

The girl, who clearly heard Missi, began to walk up the stairs. "Hello?" She called out. "Is anybody there?"

She paused, clearly thinking about what she was going to say next. "I..... got lost, and, um I kind of need to use your phone so I can call my parents because..."

She trailed off unceriantly, seemingly wanting to say one thing, but decided on something else.

".... I lost mine in the woods."

She then began up the stairs again, but she grabbed her forehead as if in pain suddenly. When she lifted her head, Missi's eyes grew wide.

The girl's eyes, which had been e/c at first, were seemingly swallowed up by a sea of black. Her eyes stared up at nothing, looking like something Missi dimly remembered seeing in a film somewhere.

What was this girl? She had the scent of a human, but there was something unsettling about it that put her to mind of the smell of rot....

The girl blinked again, and the color quickly returned to her eyes.

Missi backed away from the curtain.

How had she found this place?

Minose gazed her in the eyes. "It's sort of impressive that she'd made it all the way from town, considering the castle is where it is, but...."

Missi finished his sentence for him. "You've never seen something like her. I know, neither have I."

Missi then spoke after a moment of silence.

"It is definitely clear, there's something not human about this girl."

Minose looked back at her. "So we both agree, that we must figure out why this girl is here."

He then smiled. "We're going to mess with her head, aren't we?"

Missi smiled a slightly less evil smile. "Of course, what other way is there?"

Your P.O.V

You could clearly hear voices from behind the curtain, even though you couldn't exactly make out what they were saying.

One sounded a lot deeper and more smooth, while the other sounded much more feminine and somehow charming.

Slightly unnerved, you made it to the top of the balcony, when all of a sudden, the door which you had left slightly open at the other end of the hall, slammed shut.

You jumped and the sudden noise and whirled around, trying to see if there was anyone there.

There was no one there.

It was then you realized how dark and foreboding the castle was becoming to you. Where you had seen beauty before, there was now twistedness and darkness.....

Your reverie was interrupted by someone or something, singing from behind the curtain.

Reckless creatures,

always want another find,

stealing features, each a diamond to be mined

You felt a sense of unease drifting over you. Who was that behind the curtain?

There are facets at stake,

and crooks in our necks,

We're like moths to the flame

Get ready and set

You moved towards the curtain, hoping that this was just some joke being played on you not, whatever was happening......

Now tarry no longer,

let's burn one another,

we're one and we're twain

You pulled the curtain open.

In front of you stretched a darkened hall, somehow even more foreboding and creepy than the one you had walked through previously.

You could feel something behind you, it's hot breath on your neck as it's voice whispered in your ear, somehow harsher than before:

Now let's play a game.......

You turned around, but nobody was there.

Shuddering, you used one of your hands to move the curtain aside as you began to move down the hallway.

As you walked, your footsteps echoed on the floors, as you moved past paintings, and other objects in the hall.

It was becoming very clear to you that this was often the plot for many gothic horror stories that you had enjoyed before.

You had read it all before, a young woman is travelling and she gets lost, because it is getting dark, she goes to take shelter in the nearest building, which is usually a castle, but unknown to her, the castle is inhabited by all sorts of monsters......

Your thoughts were quickly interrupted by a beautiful voice:

Hello,

Hello,

Beautiful stranger

How familiar the danger,

Slipping into the shadows

Intrigued, you began to follow the voice further down the hall. The first voice you had heard from from before joined the beautiful voice:

'Tis true,

'Tis true,

'Tis true,

Celebrities always do

Us and our shadows, too

Us and our shadows.

You had stopped walking, because it sounded like the voices were coming from right beside you. As you turned around, you saw that you shadow that was reflected on the wall in the dim light, wasn't your shadow at all. It was now wearing a ball gown for one thing, and you were pretty sure that shadows didn't have red glowing eyes.....

It lunged for you, arms outstretched.

Dodging its attack, you began to run.

The shadow followed you down the hall, faster than anything you'd even encountered, and now it was smiling, which scared you more than the red eyes.

High stakes, three shakes, no breaks, triple the wager

Three clicks in the chamber

Three chances to claim her!

You turned down a hallway, suddenly realizing that the shadow wasn't behind you anymore.

Where could have it gone?

Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed a flicker of movement.

You looked up.

The shadow was now reflected all around you, circling around like a shark going for the kill.....

By the book, by hook, by rook

Shadow takes all my pet!

My, what a strange duet!

Backing away you tripped over something, landing on the ground with a thud that jarred you to the very core.

Looking up, you realized you had tripped over a cat, but it wasn't like any cat you had ever seen before. For one, it seemed to be made up of shadow, and it was a glowing white.

It seemed to smile at you, much to your horror.

Shadow takes all

You scrambled to your feet, turned and ran down the hall, where you opened the door to a room and went in.

It was a bedroom, but you didn't pay attention to the gothic splendor around you as you were terrified out of your wits.

Frantically looking for a weapon to defend yourself with, your gaze settled on a heavy, ornate candelabra.

It wasn't much, but hopefully you could defend yourself if you absolutely had to.

Hiding behind the bed, you clutched your improvised weapon in your hands as you could hear the creatures outside the door.

Cunning creatures

Slither front and slither back

Double dealers

Double-up for the attack

You held your breath as they paused outside the door. Inside, you felt strange, your fear was disappearing being replaced with something akin to a hunger or rage. A white hot animalistic rage.

I could say that I'm hurt

But it wouldn't be true

The knife in my back

It reminds me of you

You're my beautiful stranger

The game is afoot

It's the shadow's domain

So don't pussyfoot.....

You emerged out of your hiding place obviously relieved that you hadn't been spotted.

Then, a pale arm grabbed your wrist.

You glanced up and saw.....

The shadow girl.

Shoot!

She wagged her finger at you as if to scold you for hiding from her.

You raised your weapon ready to fight, when she knocked it out of your hand with what looked like to be a cane topped with a silver bat.

You looked on in mute horror as it sailed out of your hand and crashed into the nearest wall.

Then a white hot anger which was most uncharacteristic of you broke out in your fearful mind.

Who did this creature think she was?

You struggled in her grasp, trying in vain to break free.

The shadow girl smiled, an evil smile that made your blood run cold, and she held out her palm.

On her palm lay what looked like golden dust. She lifted he palm up, and blew the dust into your face.

When the dust hit your face, you stopped struggling, and you felt yourself getting tired.

What was happening?

But before you could figure it out, you were out cold.

Missi's P.O.V:

The girl had been easily overpowered by her sleep dust, much to Missi's relief. Whatever this girl was, she was a fighter! Missi shifted back into her regular form.

She was reminded of herself all those years ago.....

But her eyes, when the girl had tried to attack Missi, her eyes had gone all black again and she had fought with and animal-like ferocity....

Her thoughts were interrupted by Minose. "You know, it's almost ironic if you think about it, a girl stumbles across a castle in the middle of the woods and she encounters a supernatural creature..."

Missi would have replied, but she was realizing that Minose was right as she picked up the girl's backpack from where it had fallen on the floor.

It seemed like history was repeating itself 7 years after she had come to the castle......

But this time, there was something inhuman about this girl.

Missi turned and gestured, which caused the unconscious girl to float a few feet off the ground.

She exited the room, with the girl and Minose following her.

They had a lot to do, if they wanted to find out what type of creature this girl was......

Hello, my beasties! I'm sorry that this is so late! Hope you enjoyed this chapter!

What do you think about that? It seems like there's something happening with you that's turning you into something, but the black eyes are only the tip of the iceberg!

There are so many more changes that you will be going through as we progress in this story....

Anyway, next, we will have a character profile for one of my OCS in the next chapter(Curtis), and then there will be another chapter! Because there's some things you should probably know about Curtis.......

So I'll see you soon my beasties!

Remember, reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, bye!
