Chapter 17: Straight on for you
Well beasties, I'm back! Sorry for the long wait, but I'm finally back with a new chapter for this story! And boy, did we ever leave it off on an interesting note, with an introduction of a new OC, reader-chan actually killing someone, and the fact that you and Missi are probably going to run into Curtis sometime soon..... Anyway this chapter some quite interesting stuff will happen, including a little song between Missi and Curtis!(This one I found fits it, no?)
Anyway, hope you enjoy this chapter!(Oh and slight gore warning)
Well this whole day had taken a turn for the strange, if you would say so yourself, and not in the way you had originally expected it to be. First, getting separated from your crush, Missi, wasn't part of your plan. Neither was getting your money stolen by a strange figure who had lead you on a wild goose chase that had lead you to a man that had wanted to kill you. What had happened after however, made you shudder to the very core at what you had done.....
You had deliberately killed that man, tore through his tender flesh, lapped up his hot bubbling blood, crunched through his bones like they were toothpicks......
No, you weren't a killer, you tried to tell yourself, you were just so hungry and you couldn't control your hunger..... But you couldn't ignore the fact of what you had felt the whole time, the feeling of sweet almost orgasmic pleasure you had felt as you had tore his flesh. You had enjoyed killing the leering man, every minute of it.
The red-haired woman- Margalo, you remembered- was looking at you strangely. "Is your girlfriend okay?" Missi's face darkened and then she snapped back at the woman:
"Of course she isn't! She just was attacked by some guy and literally ate him! So what do you think? Does she look okay to you?"
Through your shock, you felt the familiar weight of Missi's arm around your shoulder, but you paid it no mind.
Margalo's expression faltered slightly at Missi's brashness, but she managed to regain her composure. "Look, I'm really sorry if that seemed insensitive, I know she's probably going through a lot right now, but she'll get used to it-"
This comment made your blood boil, snapping you out of your state of shock. "Get used to it? Like hell I will!" You felt Missi move back in surprise, but paid her no mind. "I just killed someone, and you're telling me I'll get used to it? I'll never get used to it, this.... Killing! I'm not a monster like you." Too late, you realized what you had just said. Horrified, you clapped a hand around your mouth.
Margalo's expression darkened. "Oh so I'm a monster?" Her tone took on a dangerous edge. "Well if you're so noble, try and starve yourself to the limit and see how long you last before your sanity begins to slip...." There was a note of pain in her voice, as if she had experienced something like that before...
Missi was still not amused. She glared at Mallory, an expression of disgust on her features. Her fingers gripped the staff tightly, making her already pale hands look even more bloodless..... "Look, I appreciate your concern or whatever, but I don't have time for...." Just then, her expression changed to one of shock, as if she was remembering something for the first time.
"Shit!" You winced slightly at the suddenness of her words. What had gotten into Missi? She suddenly seemed more frantic than usual, and even-dare you say it- a little scared?
But why would she be scared? Missi was one of the most bad-ass girls you knew-or crushed on- what would get her looking so scared?
"Forgotten what?" You asked, a hint of worry in your voice. "Miss, what's going on?"
Missi took a deep breath. "Remember how you said there was some guy after you?" You nodded, a sense of dread growing inside you. You hardly wanted to believe what you had just heard, but nevertheless you spoke.
"Did he have a scar over his eye?"
Missi nodded, and was about to speak, when Margalo interrupted.
"Wait, what did you say the guy looked like?" She was obviously trying to not look worried, but something in her eyes betrayed her words.... Missi was rolling her eyes and about to let out another cutting remark, when Margalo shoved the phone into your hand, causing you to blink in surprise. "Did he look anything like this?"
Nervously, you looked down. The background of the phone showed a picture of Margalo..... and the same man who had gotten you into this whole mess in the first place. It was a typical goofy looking picture, taken in some sort of big city-New York most like it, the statue of Liberty was in the background- she was sticking out her tounge and doing an exaggerated looking wink, while he had his arm around her shoulder doing rabbit ears behind her head with a rather silly looking grin on his face.(Also there seemed to be one of those silly looking butterfly crown filters from Snapchat or whatever, you weren't really sure, because you weren't that big on the whole social media thing) It seemed like your average picture that was taken by two people who obviously very close to each other, from the way his arm was around her shoulder and the general feel of the picture. And no sign of what they really were underneath....
You nodded slowly. "Yeah."
Margalo's face darkened, and she turned away muttering angrily to herself. You couldn't be entirely sure, but you could have sworn you heard things like: "-you fucking idiot-" , "-I should push him out of a building for this-", "-I go away for two weeks, and now he's trying to murder high-school girls? Nice job Curtis-"
Missi cut in. "Who was that, you boyfriend or whatever? This Curtis?"
"Oh god, no!" Margalo had whirled around with a very horrified look on her face, but then she seemed to regain her composure. She noted both of your skeptical expressions. "It's the whole looking different thing isn't it? Well, we definetly are related, as you can tell by our eyes." She gestured to her emerald green eyes, the beautifully mesmerizing shade of green that they were. "But as for the rest, it's kind of a long story."
She then looked Missi dead in the eyes. "You and your girlfriend are going to have to get the fuck out of here, no offence."
You felt your cheeks grow warm, and you and Missi seemed to speak at the same time, your words stumbling over each other.
"Oh no I'm not-"
"We're not-"
"Together-together or anything-"
"I mean we'd probably know if we were-"
Margalo rolled her eyes good naturedly, and was about to say something, when the sound of something coming from behind you made her stiffen suddenly, the smile fading off her face.
It sounded like a person-no a group of people, definitely more than one, you could sense it- approaching the area where you and Missi were. Instinctively, you felt your fists clench, and a type of dark anger bubble underneath your skin, as if preparing for a fight...
Margalo had gone pale. "Shit.... He's here already?" She muttered to herself. She then brought her gaze to you and Missi suddenly. "You two need to go. Right now."
Missi gripped the cane tightly in her hands. "No, I can handle them, I've handled jerks before-"
Margalo cut her off. "So you've handled incredibly fast, strong, shapeshifting beings who could rip your spine from your body with a single claw stroke?" Missi went silent at that, her expression unreadable.
Margalo continued. "Look, you and your girlfriend seem cool, so..." She reached into her pocket and tossed you something. Somehow, despite your shaking hands, you caught the small... stone? It was about the same size as a stone, but had lighter colored whirl-like symbols across its surface. It seemed to glow faintly in your hand....
"It's a lodestone. If you survive, use it to contact me...." Just then, a sudden sound coming from the corridor in front of you made her bristle slightly. Then, with a slight nod to Missi, she turned and began climbing-no your eyes weren't deceiving you- up the side of the building, effortlessly. Your eyes could just make out the talons extending from her fingers......
When she had disappeared over the roof of the building, you turned back to Missi. "We've got to go, you heard what she said, we'll be in trouble if we stayed..." You were panicking vaguely, and who could blame you? You were going to be dead if you stayed here, your senses said, so you should run, run away....
But Missi's expression gave you pause. It was one of eerie serenity, and you could see the darkness flickering through her ruby-red eyes. And the whispering coming from the staff, if was stronger, and there seemed to be more than one voice now, whispering with unbridled twisted glee....
"I'm not running." She said slowly.
"But she said-" You began, but Missi cut you off.
"Y/n, I don't care what that woman said! I'm not going to idly stand by, I'm not going to be weak anymore, never again, never again, NEVER AGAIN!" Her voice grew in volume, becoming more breathy and panicked as the voices coming from the staff increased their whispering, becoming more excited, then Missi took a deep breath, calming down some.
"Wait here, I won't be long." She turned to go back down the corridor.
"Missi...." But she didn't seem to hear you, her gaze was fixed on the cane in her hands. Her voice was very quiet, practically a whisper, but you could still make out her words.

There's no way I'm gonna sit this one out
gonna take a chance now, not be a prisoner of doubt
With a flick of her wrist, the staff landed in the belt of her dress.
I'm gonna knock down the wailin' wall
It ain't no sin
She took off, running down the passageway, leaving you to gape in shock for a moment. Then you screwed up your courage and ran after Missi. If she noticed you, she didn't turn around to acknowledge you.
I've got the feeling of fortune; deal me in
With that, she seemed to hear something, coming from a little ways away. She grabbed her cane, and with one whirl of it, changed into her shadow form, gone in a flash.
You let out a groan and followed the source of the noise. You hoped Missi knew what she was doing.......
Curtis's P.O.V
Well, tonight couldn't have gone off more fucking great, He thought sarcastically as he surveyed the remains of what had been Ernie. Of course, he didn't feel any real loss over the death of Ernie, and judging by the gold eye tattoo with the black iris on what was left of Ernie's left arm(a mark of L'ochio la dio, the especially pesky organization of monster hunters formed by the descendants of Van Helsing. That family just kept cranking them out, didn't they?), he'd been right in his dislike of the overly self-righteous former associate.
As if coming to Goblin town, with two of his least powerful associates hadn't been painful enough to go through, they were short one minion, Stergi, due to Curtis sending him to "take care" of the witch girl and his former friend. But if the tip they'd gotten from that goblin storeowner was as true as it had said, they'd soon find y/n.
Well, so far he'd been wrong, and it seemed like Curtis had skipped his "me time"(bingeing old horror films on Netfilx, one of the things he liked to do on his day off) for no good reason.
First, while Eben and Nessa were some of his better associates, and were each useful in their own way(Curtis wouldn't admit it, not even to himself, but Stergi , Eben, and Nessa had become somewhat like friends to him, although one would be hard-pressed to get anyone to admit that) , he had spent more time with them than he was comfortable with.(Nessa's constant chatter was really starting to piss him off.)
Next, there was the discovery of Ernie. Or rather what was left of Ernie.(Upon discovery, Eben had turned away to promptly vomit upon the ground.) From the ruins of his face, he'd apparently died in a lot of pain, but there was no way that a human girl, especially one as weak as y/n was, couldn't have killed an undercover monster-hunter almost instantly, or even done much damage to one of the Eye's members, unless....
The whole sorid incident from those few weeks ago. Hadn't some of his blood ended up on the girl's face, going into her eyes? But then that would mean....
He would have been careless enough to create a fledgeling. But surely that wasn't the case, Ernie had probably gotten on the wrong side of some creature, hadn't he?
His thoughts were interrupted from a sound coming from up from the roof above, someone's voice, however faraway.
Eben and Nessa seemed to hear it too. "Boss..." Eben started, but Curtis waved his hand to silence him.
Just then, a violet and black blur leapt down from the roof above, planting a rather well placed kick to Curtis's chest, knocking him backward. Temporarily disoriented, Curtis looked up into the face of a rather pissed off looking teenage vampire girl, wearing what he'd describe as a Hot-topic Disney princess dress, and carrying.....
Well, whatddya know, it was that old bat-headed cane Duke used to carry around with him. And she was pointing it rather threateningly at his chest.
Curtis rolled his eyes. "Oh god. Not another vampire. Well at least you aren't singing-"
No sooner than he'd said that-
I'm coming straight on for you
I've made up my mind
I'm feeling strong now, now I'm coming through
She geared up for another attack, swinging the cane backwards for a mighty blow. Luckily, Curtis managed to dodge out of the way in time, scrambling to his feet.
The vampire girl smirked, but her eyes blazed with rage. "Hold still, so I can pound your slimy ass into the ground!" She geared up to strike again, but Curtis grabbed ahold of the cane suddenly, pulling her close.
"Ah, ah, ah girlie. The only ass that's going to be kicked here is your own." With his words, she snarled and tried to pull away, but she soon saw something out of the corner of her eye that made her gasp.
Following her gaze, Curtis saw y/n, frozen in place, dried blood covering her mouth and dress. Perfect.
He motioned to Eben and Nessa. "Get the girl. I'll handle miss feistypants over here." Y/n's eyes widened, and she took off, Nessa and Eben close behind.
He then turned to the vampire girl. "Now little miss, there's either two ways we can do this, easy way or-" With that, she geared up her free hand and punched him in the face.
Okay, so hard way it was then....
Your P.O.V
Panting hard, you tried to navigate the small corridors, all too aware of the two pairs of boots echoing over the cobblestones behind you.
If you could just lose your pursuers, you might be able to find your way back to Missi in time for the two of you to escape from-
A sudden snap of something on your back-a whip? No, it felt too fleshy for that- made you stumble, giving your persuers enough time to grab you.
The college student looking man held your hands firmly behind your back. "Okay Ness, we've got her, do you have anything in your pocket to knock her out?" He asked the pink-haired woman.
She nodded, and rummaged around in her candy-colored pockets. Meanwhile, a sense of pure unbridled, dark rage washed over you. How dare they capture you. You had enough of this....
With that, you brought the heel of your foot onto the college aged man's making him cry out in pain. The pink-haired woman saw what had happened, and her eyes went blood red, the white part of her eyes turning black-oh great, a ghoul. And not one of the cute ones like Kaneki Ken- she lunged at you, those tentacle things sprouting from her back...
Without thinking, you ran up and slammed into the woman with all your strength. To your surprise, she went flying through the air-had weak little you really been that strong?- and landed against the nearest wall with a thud, sliding to the ground, most likely unconscious, from the way she moaned briefly.
Now you just had the college guy to deal with. He had a pistol drawn on you, even if his hands were shaking as he did so. You gave a dark smile. A gun, would that really stop you?
So, you leapt at the man, your claws already appearing on your fingers. He shot wildly, one or two shots actually hitting your side and shoulder, but the pain was nothing to you. You knocked the man's weapon out of his hand, and slashed at his face, leaving four raised marks on his left cheek. He blinked in surprise, then touched his cheek, finding blood coming up on his fingers, his eyes rolled back in his head and he slumped to the ground in a dead faint.
Absentmindedly, you gave his side a light kick before wincing at the pain in your side and shoulder. God, it hurt like a bitch, you thought, absentmindedly looking at the gunshot holes in your dress. And now you'd probably have to get a new dress, because this one had blood covering it....
Then the sounds of fighting caught your attention. "Missi..." Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted the gun, lying unattended by the college guy's Reebox sneakers. Well, that might come in handy.....
Missi's P.O.V
Okay, Missi might have been a little wrong when she thought she could handle him. He was no Duke, that was for sure, she thought grimly as she dodged his attacks.
For one, he just kept coming. She'd given him a blow that had literally broken his jaw(he'd just snapped it back into place, and continued on as if it was nothing. Had he healed back from that already?), she'd used a life-creating spell to summon a gargoyle from the roofs above to distract him(with those talons of his, he'd turned it into unliving rubble), and even grabbing her cane still didn't seem to affect him.
And secondly, those comebacks. There had been more than a few that had sent her anger ablaze:
"So with all your fancy tricks, you still can't even hit me where it hurts? That's sad."
"Come on girlie, show me what you got!"
"Really? This was a brand new suit, and now you just got blood on it."
"Oh princess, I think you might have impressed me for half a second there."
She gritted her teeth as the cane clashed against his talons. " I don't get what your whole beef with y/n is. You know, I thought a monster like you would have better things to do than creep after teenage girls."
He scoffed, and one of his talons connected with her dress, tearing the sleeve slightly. "Please, I'm not creeping after her. I'm not a pedophile. Because when I get to your little girlfriend, I intend to kill her. Slowly." He gave a wicked, sharp teethed smile at that, trying to get a reaction out of her.
Missi narrowed her eyes, and continued her fight, but then....
One of his blows took her by surprise, briefly knocking the wind out of her. The staff slipped in her grasp.....
Curtis's P.O.V
So, this vampiress did have a weakness after all. Why hadn't he seen it before? Curtis almost cursed himself for missing it.
And had it really taken this long to see it? The brief look of fear on her face when she had fumbled with the cane?
It was Duke's cane after all, and he knew from a fact when he used to hang around with him(used, being the word. Curtis still hadn't forgiven him for what he'd done) that the vampire relied on it heavily for all of his parlor tricks.
So, if he were to remove the cane from the equation....
He grinned, backing up slightly, already planning his next move. The girl narrowed her eyes and waited for him to make his move, cane still clenched tightly in her hands, having recovered from the spot of fear he had detected in her earlier...
Now I know how to play my hands
What the winner don't know, the gambler understands
He gritted his teeth and ran towards the girl, claws at the ready, voice turning into an animalistic snarl.
No you don't stand a chance(you don't stand a chance)
I'm coming straight on for you(straight on for you!)
I've made up my mind
I'm feeling strong now, now I'm coming through
As they fought, he kept the window open for the perfect opportunity. This girl didn't realize it, she'd soon be powerless....
Straight on, straight on for you(straight on for you)
She geared back with the cane, ready to strike....
Straight on for you!
He sheathed his claws, then reached out, grabbing her by the throat suddenly. The cane clattered out of her hands, and Curtis mentally celebrated his victory.
But the girl he held struggling in his grasp was now much different from the annoying vampiress he had fought moments before....
Missi's P.O.V
She felt it, all too soon. The cane leaving her grasp, the sudden quiet in her mind..... And the human weakness that soon followed it as she struggled for breath in his vice-like grip.
He dropped her to the hard, unforgiving pavement and she reached weakly for the cane, lungs still struggling to breathe properly, but he kicked it away, letting it clatter against the wall.
Missi turned her fightened gaze to the swarthily dressed man, taking in the sudden surprise, then the devilish glee upon his wolf-like features.
He regarded her for a moment, before speaking. "Well, well, well, seems like this big bad vampiress was nothing more than a scared little girl playing dress-up." He awaited her response, but she stumbled backwards, looking up fearfully, all too aware of what he could do, what he might do to her in her weakened state......
He seemed all too gleeful at her fear. "Oh that's right, without your cane to lean on, you're just a scared, human girl. And you know what about humans?"
He leaned over her, and grabbed ahold of her wrist, locking her in place. "They're so fragile, all too easy to break." He tapped his chin with his free hand, as if thinking about something, than a low growl reached Missi's ears. With horror, she realized it had come from his stomach.
He was going to eat her, she realized. She was going to end up dying right here, in this alleyway, ending up as a meal for this monster of a man.
He gave an evil looking grin. "And what do you know, all this fighting has given me this incredibly fucking big appetite like you wouldn't believe." His voice took on an animalistic snarl as he leaned closer to Missi. "And I'm so hungry, I could eat-"
Than a familiar voice reached Missi's ears, making him stop in his tracks.
"Hey asshole. Eat this!"
He whiled around releasing Missi's wrist, only for three loud bangs to sound as he did so. His eyes rolled up in his head as he slumped to the ground, three red splotches forming on the shirt of his suit.
Missi looked up to see y/n, looking terrified, clutching a smoking gun in her hands. Shakily, Missi stumbled to her feet and gave y/n a shaky hug.
"You came back...." She whispered.
"Of course I did Missi. I care about you. I wouldn't just let you become someone's snack." Y/n said with a giggle in her voice, trying to disguise her shock.
After a moment, the girls broke away, and Missi noted the two ragged holes in y/n's dress. "Are you hurt?" Missi asked.
Y/n brushed it off. "I'm fine, it's nothing."
Then an audible groan reached their ears. They turned to see Curtis's previously prone form, twitching and moving slightly. Y/n groaned. "And I still didn't kill him after I shot him three times point-blank. He's one tough bastard."
Missi nodded and rushed over to grab her cane. When she felt the cold comfort of the cane was over her, she turned to y/n.
"Let's blow this shitshow ok?"
Y/n nodded, and they grabbed hands as Missi began the spell that would teleport them back to the castle. Just then, Curtis staggered to his feet, somewhat disoriented, the flesh on his chest already zippering together. His eyes narrowed when he saw them and he strode over, already changing into a more bestial form.....
Y/n glared at him, snarling, showing her black eyes and fangs. He stopped dead in his tracks, shocked....
But by the time he'd gotten over his shock, and his minions had come to, y/n and Missi had already vanished.....
Well beasties, I'm finally done! Sorry for the long wait, but I hope you liked this chapter! Now how about that huh? We've encountered Margalo my fairly recent OC, Missi's had an encounter with Curtis, and we've set the stage for some possibly more interesting stuff!
Next chapter, I hope to further Duke and Shanti's relationship, and maybe address some topics, such as the fact of Curtis and Duke's friendship.....
I'll see you soon beasties......
