Link kept an intense watch on his wolf friend these past couple of days. More and more, he started to believe his suspicions. He hadn't seen Alevina in quite some time. But he knew he was going to need more than just some strange disappearances to figure all this out.
"(Y/N)?" Link questioned casually as he rode atop of Epona as the elegant wolf followed along. Her eyes looked up at his acknowledging him to continue. The blonde searched through his bag when he finally found the golden plaque back at the forest. He held out to the wolf.
"Isn't this just awesome? I found it a couple of days ago. What do you think?"
If Link did not have his suspicions, he would have never noticed the change of look and emotion in the wolf's golden eyes, but the thing was, he did have his suspicions. A look of confusion filled the wolf's face but she instantly barked as if approving his thoughts to the plaque. Link knew that something was fishy but dropped the topic so that the wolf would not catch on.
The two continued to venture out into the slowly Twilight infected Hyrule. By this time, Link had already collected all the fused shadows along with (Y/N)'s help. The wolf continued to help Link with the dark magic weapons all the while knowing he was slowly being taken over. Pretty soon, she would be able to control him. She felt bad really, she really did. She liked him a lot but she could never show her feelings because to him, she was only a wolf. But she had parents to save, perhaps once all that was finished, she could finally tell him.
Just then, at that moment, they were being ambushed.
"(Y/N)!" Link yelled as he pulled out his Master Sword. "Are you alright?"
The wolf simply nodded at him. The two of them fought away the shadow creatures but these creatures were different, they were way too strong for them. Link transformed into his wolf form so that he could communicate with (Y/N).
"What are we going to do? There's too many of them." Link said.
(Y/N) continued to fight off any creatures that tried to get close to her.
(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
There really was too much of them. For now, I would have to think.
"Have Midna assist you for now," I advised him. I decided to save the dark magic weapons for later. All these shadow creatures would be a great addition of power to the sword.
Link simply nodded as he and Midna tried to fight off the shadow beasts. It felt like there were hundreds of them and they seemed to just keep on multiplying. Was there really no end? Just then, at that moment, I saw two familiar large shadows appear behind the smaller beasts. The power radiating from them was far greater.
"Link! Use the dark magic!" Link simply nodded as he transformed into his human form. He took the weapons and started to slash away at the smaller shadows. Just as I had suspected, the smaller beasts were weaker now since the main source of power reverted back to the original source which were the larger shadows in the back. I kept fighting the shadows when I saw that Link had been cornered by the two shadows.
He kept a fierce face but when I had averted my gaze to look at the shadows I had realized that they were the shape of wolves...the exact same shape as my parents. How did I not realize it was them? Something was definitely not right. If they were my parents, I would've picked up on their scent as soon as they got here.
I watched as the two wolves crept on closer to Link. I immediately stopped what I was doing and dashed to stand in front of Link and defend him. The dark magic sword was powerful, but not powerful enough for these beings. I knew they were not my parents, but who were they exactly?
"Relax, girly," one of the shadows said after transforming into a cloaked human. "Just hand over the fused shadows and we'll spare that friend of yours."
I only snarled, threatening to rip of their throats if they got any closer. One, because I wasn't planning on handing the shadows over anytime soon. Two, he had some nerve to pose and take my parents' shadow wolf form.
The other shadow transformed into yet another cloaked human. "You're parents just told us to ask for the shadows."
Using my powers, I psychically communicated with the two figures. "How am I supposed to believe two random strangers who posed as my parents?"
The man spoke slyly, "Just trust us and no one gets hurt."
"(Y/N)," Link attempted to speak only to be interrupted by my growl.
I continued to communicate with them. "You wouldn't need to hurt us if my parents actually sent you and if you weren't so sketchy looking."
"You're right," the man shrugged. "This is taking way too much of our time." He paused as he looked to his partner. "Attack."
Instantly, one man started using magic to attack us while the other took out two large swords. Link immediately jumped into action as I dodged the magic being shot. I tried my best to only use my wolf abilities, but I knew that I would have to use more than that...I needed my powers.
I honestly wouldn't have attacked these two if they weren't so sketchy in the first place. But I had a gut feeling that these two only wanted the fused shadows for their own selfish needs. My needs were selfish as well, but my reasons were probably much more rational than those of the cloaked figures.
I fought off the man with magic when I heard an extremely loud clash of weapons. Turning my head, I noticed Link being thrown to the floor unconscious.
"Get the wolf," one of the men said. The man with twin swords dashed towards me. Foolish men. Did they really think they stood a chance? With Link down, I could easily transform into my human form and use my sealed powers. I dodged instantly and kicked the two men down. With the little time I had before they got up, I quickly transformed into my human form.
"About time you showed up," one of the men said as he spat blood from his mouth. "I was getting tired of talking to the wolf."
I blew away my (h/c) hair and glared at the two with my still apparent golden eyes. "You're going to wish I stayed as a wolf," I taunted.
The man with swords ran towards me. I quickly grabbed Link's sword and hit the man with the handle on the back, enough to make him lose grip of his own swords. Using my free hands, I destroyed the swords with a beam of white light. I made a small cut in one of his arms ensuring that he would remain down as I put my focus on taking down the other.
"You're nothing, girl," the other male said, voice shaking. It was quite obvious he was a bit concerned about his welfare.
I laughed sarcastically, "You're so funny. You know that?" Forming a small blade in my hand, I removed my own cloak that covered my crescent symbol. The man's eyes widened as he watched me make a small cut into the moon. Blood trickled down and landed onto the sword as I mumbled a mystic language. Within moments, the old sword dropped to the floor as my own weapon emerged from it.
It was a large ivory scepter lined accented with a royal blue and some jewels and vines. At the top of it was a blade the shape of a scythe. The staff was basically a combination of a British royal and Hades scepter. Blue and white light emitted from the staff as I held it, unaffected by its touch and force.
The man threw a ball of magic towards me only to have it swung back at him like a baseball. The man fell to the floor and I walked over to him, holding the blade of the scythe towards his neck.
I smiled smugly. "I could either cut you or burn you into ashes. Your choice, sir."
The man gulped as he watched me. His fault for posing as my parents in the first place.
"Very well," I said calmly. I started to gather my magic, ready to blast it at the foolish man. He closed his eyes ready for impact, but it never came. He looked at me with confusion.
I stepped away. "Don't take me for a coward just because I didn't kill you and your partner over there. I value a person's life no matter who there are or what they've done. You can thank my parents for giving me that lesson. Now go."
The man immediately got up and grabbed his still unconscious partner and left. Before disappearing completely, he turned back to me. "Thank you."
I simply sighed as I turned back to tend to Link's unconscious body, but it wasn't there when I looked.
Odd.
Just as I was about to step deeper into the forest to look for him, Link appeared from behind a large oak tree. His blue eyes full of disbelief. His hands were shaking.
"What's wrong, Link?" I asked.
"Y-you and (Y/N) are one. You are Alevina and (Y-Y/N). Y-you're the family who disappeared from Castle Town...it all makes sense now." Link fell to his knees.
Crap. Was he awake all this time?
As if on cue, Midna spoke. "He watched you transform from wolf to human, (Y/N)--er, Alevina, or whatever your actual name is. He's actually been investigating your wolf form for awhile now. He expected that you were from the family that was associated with dark magic, but he never expected for you and Alevina to be the same person."
I looked back at Link as he sobbed. "How did I not see this coming?" he spoke.
