Entering Darkness

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

"Home sweet home," I mumbled under my breath as I came from the dark mystic portal. I stepped into the Twilight Realm and looked at my surroundings. Pure darkness. Little particles of the darkest shade of purple filled the air on this floating city. The Twili were all very large people and very dark at that, of course, this was the Twilight. Their skin resembled that of Midna's.

I felt completely out of place here. After all, I was wearing clothes that matched by wolf's pristine coat. My (h/c) hair was done into a messy ponytail (or done naturally) and I wore a simple white and silver dress with matching boots. My cape was the item that resembled my wolf skin. I wore parts of my fur as earrings to symbolize by ability to shape shift. My tear necklace hung out of my cape and my eyes were it's typical golden. I truly felt like a needle in a haystack.

(Imagine your own features on the character. This visual is used mainly for the clothing.)

Here I was, the bearer of dark magic, wearing clothes that stated the complete opposite. I guess it was a good thing though since it masked my true abilities.

I made sure that the fused shadows were kept in my magic small pouch so that I could finally free my parents from whoever had a hold on them.

I observed my surroundings. The Twili seemed so miserable; they really needed Midna back. I clenched the tiny bag even tighter.

I'm sorry, Midna, but in reality, we all do things for our own selfish needs. I lost the trust I gained in two very important people when I revealed myself and took off so I really shouldn't expect anything.

Link's P.O.V.

Once Midna had realized the fused shadows had gone missing, we only thought of one person: (Y/N). We needed to find her and Midna knew just the place.

We approached some sort of passage way. It was pure black and white. The lights from this thing were very strong and within the center of the portal, the Triforce could be seen.

"It seems she's already activated it," Midna sighed as she floated towards the object. "Follow me, Link, so that we can retrieve those pieces. Who knows what she'll do with them."

I obliged and followed the imp into the portal.

Let me take over, Link.

I shook my head furiously. For the past several days, I had been hearing voices. I decided not to tell Midna because we had better things to worry about at hand.

As soon as we entered the portal, we were brought to the Twilight Realm.

"I can sense something. Follow me," Midna commanded.

I followed her as we walked through the empty world of Twilight. Everything was so solemn and gloomy it's no wonder Midna needed those Shadows.

You're too weak, Link.

I saw Midna come to a stop when I realized that she was eyeing a large palace. The doors were swung open as if asking for us to enter. The aura of the building said it all--there were definitely stronger forces within this palace.

"Stay here, Link," Midna warned as she tried to observe her surroundings even more.

I was not about to let Midna enter the place all by herself. Throughout the journey, she had helped me without knowing it and though I was supposed to listen to her every command, now was not the time to do so.

"I'm going with you," I said firmly.

"No. No you're not," Midna demanded as she floated around me to stare me straight in the eyes. "You don't know what you're up against, Link. Heck, I don't even know myself. I feeling another presence here that I did not feel before."

"I'm still going," I persisted. "Let me help--"

"You're not stable," she interjected as her features became solemn.

I looked at her while removing the sword from its sheath. "I don't know what you're talking about, Midna. But I'm not going to let a friend take on something by herself." And without another word, I ran into the palace, bracing myself for whatever was to come.

After many mazes and dungeons, we finally found ourselves across a brightly lit door way. Below the bottom of the door, a very bright light was emerging in the darkness.

"Link," Midna spoke softly, "I want you to be very careful once we enter that room. Got it?"

I nodded, grasping my sword even tighter. With my free hand, I slowly turned the knob. The light of the room was very bright so my eyes took awhile to adjust, but as soon as they did, I saw Midna furiously attempting to attack someone.

The person wore a large mask, one made of brass perhaps. The mask resembled one of a fish head with two large, round eyes and an abnormally large tongue.

"See good to see you again," the man chuckled as he stared at Midna being held by shadow beasts. "I'm sure you liked what I've done with the place?" He sat comfortably in his throne which was a pretty good distance away from the both of us.

"You bastard!" Midna yelled releasing her rage, "Let me go right now and face me yourself!"

"Oh, but, Midna," he sighed apologetically, "I'm afraid you've already been beaten." And with the snap of a finger, Midna was thrown against a wall rather harshly and became too injured to even get up. The man's minions took her away and placed her in a cell next to two large wolves.

The masked man faced towards me and stood up, but remained near his throne.

"Ah, Link," he said so casually, "It's an honor to finally meet the famed hero. I'm sorry for the rude introduction to your friend there, but enough of that. My name is Zant."

Yes, let me take you away from all this.

"Zant?" A memory flashed back to when Midna had told me about this person and how he took over her kingdom. I became enraged. "Give Midna what is rightfully hers!" I yelled.

He only chuckled, "What? The Kingdom? Sure thing. But she doesn't want that, now does she?"

"What?"

"She wants the fused shadows, does she not?"

"You don't have them! Someone else does!" I yelled once again.

"Oh, but, dear Link. I'm afraid I do," the voice spoke with pleasure.

I frowned. "How is that even possible?"

He simply chuckled. "Bring her out."

Still holding my sword, I watched as she emerged from beside him. It was (Y/N). She had no emotion on her face and her eyes were the golden ones she wore as a wolf.

"(Y/N)?!?" I called to her.

She only looked at me with a dull expression, her eyes glowing in the darkness.

"So you two know each other?" Zant sat down in his throne and folded his arms across his chest. "This will be rather interesting." He motioned for (Y/N) to walk forward onto the open space between his throne and me.

"You both want the same thing, don't you?" Zant taunted as the fused shadows magically appeared before him. "The victor of the battle will be the one who wins the fused shadows."

"What?" I said, shocked.

"You heard him," (Y/N) hissed as a scepter formed in her hand. She instantly transformed it into a sword and pointed it at me. "The winner wins the shadows and that most definitely won't be you."

Was she mad that I had sent her away? Was it because I told her I hated her?

"(Y/N), I--"

"Shut your mouth and fight! This battle shouldn't last any longer than it should." And with that, she started to attack.

Now is the chance, Link. Let me take over.

I will win this battle myself and save (Y/N) and Midna and all of Hyrule. I don't need anyone else's ability but my own.

"Using the weapon I gave you? That really was a dumb choice, Link," she criticized as I only swung back at her. I needed a way to defeat her but not injure her at the same time.

Let me take over, and I will help you win her heart.

How can I be so sure that she harbors the same feelings as I do?

I was able to successfully make her lose her balance as she fell to the floor. I climbed atop of her and held my sword close enough to make a small threat.

"Let me help you, (Y/N)," I spoke softly.

She looked at me and at that moment, I could see something in her eyes that I could not see from afar: sorrow. Her eyes were full of longing and regret as if she had made a terrible mistake.

She pushed me off realizing that I had read too much.

"It's too late to save even yourself, Link."

She's right. After all, she was the one who created me in the first place. She's the reason I am here. Give yourself up, Link, and you'll be able to save everyone
