An Inner Battle
(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
I slashed at Link, trying to keep him away. He was an idiot for using that weapon I gave him. Why didn't he go back to that Master Sword of his?
It's because you know that the sword has already started to take over his well being.
I looked at Link once again. He seemed hurt at the moment. Was he hurt by my words? Was he hurt by the fact that I told him to shut up?
No. That can't possibly be it.
He told me he hated me. And that alone was the push I needed. After all this time, I would've expected to hate him, but...the heart can be an irrational thing. It knows what it wants and no matter how you may try to deny it, you can't stop it.
Dammit.
But, I needed to do what had to be done. I needed the shadows.
Link jumped from my blow, but I was quick to my feet as I pounced and slid my blade onto his shoulder. I made sure not to make too much damage, but made sure to weaken him.
He winced in pain as he looked at me with despair.
I'm sorry, Link. But I need to do this.
"(Y/N)," he said only to be interrupted by the immediate pain in his shoulder, "do you really want to go through this? There's other ways to solve this; we can do this together."
I glanced at him with a fierce look, my (h/c) bangs covering my face. It was time to put on my facade.
"Together? T-together?" I said mockingly, "You threw me to the side when you learned of who I truly was and what I was capable of."
I threw my sword forcefully to the side earning a very confused look from Zant.
"And now you want to work together?" I laughed, "You seriously confuse me, Link. But I guess..."
I put on a fake smile, made to look very genuine, "I guess I could help..."
I approached him slowly and held out my hand towards him.
"What are you doing, (Y/N)?" Zant scolded, "You guys are fighting for two different reasons. Working together won't accomplish anything."
Idiot. I knew what I was doing.
"Take my hand, Link."
He reached for it and at that moment, I threw a ball of white magic towards him, sending him flying.
Zant laughed hysterically, "That's more like it. I guess this battle will be interesting after all; I was starting to have my doubts."
I saw Link get up from the floor. His eyes squirmed and struggled to open because of the impact. It hurt me, it really did. But that physical damage was nothing compared to the emotional damage he gave me.
"(Y-Y/N)," he spoke softly, "I thought that..."
I used my magic to teleport to him. I slowly lifted his chin so that his gaze met mine in the dark room. After all, my golden eyes were very hard to miss.
"You thought wrong, my dear, Link. It's time to fight dirty and unfair," I told him.
"No. I won't do it, (Y/N). I don't want to hurt you," he responded as he attempted to grab my own hands only to have it swatted away viciously.
"You've already hurt me, Link," I responded coldly. "Now I'm giving you until the count of three to get up and run. I'm only giving you a couple of seconds to save yourself. Whether you decided to still fight me with that sword of yours or something else is entirely up to you."
"I will fight with this sword, (Y/N)."
"One..." I started.
I watched as the blonde stumbled in his step to get up.
"Two..."
"(Y/N)..." he started as he prepared for his run.
"Three..."
"I'm sorry."
Creating a scepter once again, I struck a bolt of blue lighting only to have it miss him by a hair.
"You're really making it hard on yourself, Link," I taunted as I continued blasting forces of magic at him.
"I will fight fairly, even if you won't," he responded as he ran towards me, lightly cutting my arm.
I cursed at the pain. He tried to pierce me once again, but I used the scepter to reflect his attacks. The sound of metal continued to increase and get louder. I could see he was trying his hardest to even lay a scratch on me.
But we both knew he couldn't do it.
"Link, I know that your dark side is already fighting with you. I already know it wants to take over. Why don't you do yourself favor and submit to it?"
His blue eyes widened in shock.
"How did you know that?"
"It's quite obvious. I can see it on your face, Link. You're not one at hiding your emotions, are you? And being a dark magic weapon holder myself, I know how they work."
His grip tightened onto the blade and I looked at him dully.
"I won't do it. Not now, not ever. I will not submit to the darkness."
After getting quite bored of the current reflection of attacks, I threw down a small storm of icicles. He jumped and dodged all but one, leaving him another injury, this time on his leg.
"Oh, poor poor, Link. I hate to break it to you, but ever since you picked up that weapon, the darkness was slowly taking over."
My scepter transformed into a bow and arrow as I tried to injure him even more. He was too far for a close-ranged attack so I would have to damage him from afar.
"W-what?"
"You heard me the first time, Link. Do I need to repeat myself?," I said harshly, mocking his own words the time he sent me away.
"Oh, hohoho," Zant chuckled, "It seems you've been tricked, little elf boy. The girl you've trusted for so long was using you the entire time. Now how does that make you feel? Are you angry? Are you hurt? Oh, poor poor poor, Link."
At that moment, it looked like Link was about to burst. This was the second time I had hurt him. And I could see...it hurt him badly. He was on the verge of tears.
"Why, (Y/N)? Why did you do it?" he choked on his words, gripping the sword even tighter than he had before. With the amount of force he was using, it would be to no surprise that he broke it.
"I needed to save my parents, Link," I said bluntly.
You know, it really hurt me to pretend to have no emotions, but this was all a part of the plan. I needed this to be done.
"I have priorities, Link. And my parents are at the top. You see those two wolves?"
I pointed to the large wolves locked behind a visible force field.
"They are my parents and they need me."
Flashback
"Now, now, (Y/N). No need to fight back. I'm not going to hurt you," Zant said as he approached my fighting self being held down by his minions.
"What the hell do you want with me?" I spat as I received a hard kick to the stomach. I spat out blood, but made sure it landed on one of the horrendous minion's face as payback. It was about to attack me again when Zant stopped it.
"Now, (Y/N), I know how desperate you are when it comes to saving your parents."
"How do you know about that?"
He chuckled, "I just do. Now, let's make a deal. About those fused shadows..."
"Give them back, bastard," I hissed. Stupid man had stolen them from me as soon as I stepped into the world of Twili.
"Now, now. Patience, (Y/N). You will get them back once you do a favor for me...and you can't say no because you really have no choice because I will execute your loved ones if you don't listen to me."
I glared at him, but remained silent.
"Good girl. Now, I just need you to bring me the Hero of Twilight. I need you to convince him to work for me and you'll have your shadows and parents."
"That's it?" I questioned.
The task was not too hard being that Link was already being taken over by the darkness because of the weapon I leant him. It shouldn't be too hard...
"Fine," I reluctantly obliged, "I'll do it."
"Great," the man smirked, "Now get to it."
End of Flashback
I watched as Link started clutching the area around his heart.
"I can't believe you, (Y/N)..." his voice started to alter.
I raised my weapon preparing for what was to come.
He looked at me, a red color continuously flashing back and forth. His body was slowly being engulfed by flames.
"All this time, (Y/N)..."
He grit his teeth and started shaking violently as all I could do was watch and prepare myself for what was to come.
"I helped you, (Y/N). With everything. I became your friend and cared for you. I even developed feelings for you," his voice started to slur in a low growl.
"But what did you do? You used me. Like I was a tool. As if I were an object. Was I anything else to you, (Y/N)? You didn't trust me enough to at least ask? Am I really not important to you?"
Oh, how he was wrong. Oh, how I wished to tell him. But no, this had to be done. This was the push he needed.
And suddenly, a burst of dark energy emerged from his body. I watched as his body was slowly taken over from the dark forces within the weapon I had given him.
And when he emerged, I thought it was a shadow version of him.
But no.
He appeared in front of me with such speed and grabbed me by the neck.
And at the moment, he was no longer Link. And he was not the shadow I expected him to be.
At that moment, he...
