A Solution (Prologue: Part 3)
Link's P.O.V.
The shadow that had once been under me took a form. And that form was Midna.
It was a blackened figure of her, but still her nonetheless.
"Did you really think I'd leave? And you can't really go back to save your friends with just your wolf self you know. The forest is covered in twilight, so if you go back again, the shadow beast will take you in. But, if you enter with someone from twilight," she twirled, "Like me for instance, then you won't have any trouble. So you really have no choice but to do as I say."
Midna sure was bossy, but I'm not the kind of person to talk back or anything of the sort. I have respect for others. So I simply lowered my head, allowing myself to become Midna's servant.
"Tee hee," she giggled, "That's more like it. Now, if you want to save your friends, you're going to need a sword and shield that'll suit me." Midna giggled once more, "Eee hee hee. The more time you spend dawdling, the more the twilight will take over so you better get a move on!"
And with that, she disappeared and my shadow had returned once again. It was getting dark out and I needed to find a shield and sword. I remembered that there was a wooden shield in one of the villager's homes. As for the sword, I would get that too.
I ran to the area where my home was to find that those monsters had been roaming around. Luckily, there were only two so I defeated them quickly. I was about to dash for the village when someone called me.
"Wait!"
I turned to see that it was a squirrel... a squirrel?
The squirrel spoke, "Thank you so much for getting rid of those creatures. They were harming the village and they also kidnapped the village children. I can see that you aren't one of them; I can smell the trees of Ordon on you."
I had to admit that this was kind of freaking me out. The squirrel was talking to me and it could smell Ordon on me.
"If you ever find yourself in trouble, talk to the animals," the squirrel finished.
I thanked the squirrel and made my way to the village. It was pretty quiet and very few things stirred in the darkness. I was walking through when I heard the mayor and a villager talking.
"The shield is still in my storage loft," said the villager.
"Good. Now go get it. We need to rescue the children," the mayor replied.
"I will take the sword we were going to present to the royal family from Rusl's house and find the children tomorrow."
I gathered all the information I needed to know and crept away and searched for the houses. One good thing about being a wolf was my hearing, the other (I guess) would be the ability of the animals to speak to me.

I finally had the wooden shield and sword. I dashed through the small village keeping myself out of the sites of the villagers. I was nearing the forest when something caught my attention.
"Wait...Come to my spring..."
Strange. I backed in my tracks and approached the shiny blue spring water.
"You have been transformed into a shadow creature. Come to me..." the mysterious voice said.
I approached slowly only to see a barrier of Twilight form. A black creature dropped from a portal but I defeated the creature with ease.
The spring started to light up a bright golden color. A spherical object came out from the water and took the form of a goat of some sort.
"O brave youth..." the creature started, "I am one of four light spirits. I am Ordona. The creature you defeated was a shadow being. It attempted to take the light at which I yield."
The spirit paused but spoke again, "Unfortunately, the creatures have already taken the light of my brethren. You must revive the spirits who have lost their light to stop the evil from spreading." The spirit paused again.
"You do not know your true powers. Most transformed by the twilight usually cannot transform back unless... you return back to the Faron Woods and revive the light. By the power of the light spirit, you will be able to transform back."
The spirit disappeared as the spring went back to its original state. I made my way to the woods. Midna had decided to come out and ride on my back. A wall had appeared and three shadow beings dropped from the sky.
"Listen, wolf," Midna said into my ear, "Just follow my lead and you'll be fine. I will lend you some of my power so that you can defeat these beings."
Midna's hair formed into a large hand which created some sort of dark circle around me. I clawed the ground as I put each being under the circle as a target and defeated them and the wall was lifted.
I ran through and found myself near a body of water. There, in the air, was a ball of broken golden light.
"...Please be careful..." the voice said, "these woods have changed. The twilight creatures dwell here. Those of light become spirits. I am a spirit of light. Look for my light, blue-eyed beast, stolen by the shadows and place it in this vessel."
"Vessel of Light, huh?" Midna said as she examined the vessel given to me. "You'll be collecting tears to fill this thing."
"...Find the dark insects..." the voice spoke again, "they have the light..."
I simply nodded.
"Let's go find the tears of light, wolf," Midna commanded, "We've got nothing to lose."
