A New Him
(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
He threw me against the wall with immense force causing the wall to crack and break into tiny bits with debris flying everywhere. The impact was so strong I could almost feel my insides been thrown away. I coughed up blood with my eyes struggling for sight.
I had just enough time to notice my parents looking at me worriedly and motioning their nuzzles towards Link. And what I saw horrified me.
The books said it would never happen. The books said it was highly unlikely that something like this could ever happen. But here it was. The sight stood right before me.
Link was engulfed within black smoke and particles of Twilight seemed to have been attracted as well. I remained on the floor and my eyes widened as I watched the pieces of the fused shadow travel their way over towards this new source of energy.
Zant was angry. Very, very, angry. "What is this obscurity? Link, neither you or (Y/N) have won the fight! Give those back right now!" he started to whine like a child. It was no wonder a ghost-like hand from the mist attacked Zant knocking the Twili man unconscious.
Another force came from the mist and shadow, yet again, resembling a hand. It easily broke through the bars where my parents had been held captive. But they remained in their area, waiting for the coast to clear of whatever madness was occurring.
And then, it happened. Something I had never prepared for.
The (L/N) family were the masters of dark magic. We could handle anything and everything. But not once, did my family ever anticipate for this to happen.
The mist and shadow dissipated, revealing someone entirely different. It was still Link, but he looked different. And no doubt, his whole character and mentality was different.
Link wore a large, black robe with a neckline rung with a large golden plate holding large red jewels, no doubt, that was where my family's dark magic had been contained. The robe had the green symbols of Twilight with hanging cloth, red beads in the middle of those strips of cloth. A red banner ran down the middle and tied around the waist. The robe seemed to stay on Link's figure by two green clips attached to the hood of the robe.
Link wore a type of crest on his forehead and it was fairly large and bronze in a swirly motion. His eyes were yellow and his irises orange. His eyes were lined with black. His skin was now a very light blue, with dark, almost black body marks. And his blonde hair was replaced with orange.
He was one with the Twili. But more than that, he was a Twili with the powers of the fused shadows and a small amount of dark magic from the (L/N) family, my family.
"It's happened," I whispered under my breath as I dashed towards my parents hoping to protect them from whatever happened next. But as that thought came to mind, I heard Zant scream as he left the area leaving my family alone with this new Link.
My golden eyes remained on Link. My eyes naturally held ferocity, but behind that, was absolute fear. A fear of what the humble villager had suddenly become.
He approached us slowly and raised his blue finger and pointed towards us. I held onto my parents more closely hoping that Link wouldn't do any harm to them. It was my fight, not theirs. He was supposed to attack me, not them.
Suddenly, a burst of energy escaped his finger and struck both of them. My eyes widened in horror. Was this my payback for using him? No. Why did it have to be this way?
"What did you do to them?" I asked trying to keep my voice strong, hiding the quiver. He remained silent and gestured to them, and when I looked, they were human once again, the symbol of ownership no longer on them.
I pulled down the collar of my own cloak to see the symbol was still there.
"(Y/N)," Link finally spoke to me. His voice was different this time. It was deeper and laced with a slightly demonic sound, his original voice faintly there.
I looked to him, angry and confused. If the spell was lifted off my parents, why was I still marked with the crescent?
"If you are going to rule Hyrule with me, you need to keep your powers. I have freed your parents and--"
I don't ever recall telling him that my parents had been wolves, let alone, the bind they were in.
"How did you know? That they were my parents?" I asked skeptically.
"With these new found powers, I sensed it. But as I was saying, (Y/N), you need your powers to rule with me--"
"You expect me to rule with you?" I interjected, "I would never do such a thing. Not now. Not ever."
"(Y/N), don't you see? I want you to rule with me. I want you here, (Y/N). I need you. I'm sure the feelings we have for each other will blossom if you just accept my offer," he held out his hand with a serious expression.
I couldn't help but attempt to suppress the heat that rushed to my face. Link had said he had feelings for me, but this was not the same Link. This was a power hungry Link. How could I be so sure about him?
I frowned and inched closer towards my parents, scanning the area for Midna, and luckily, found her laying close by. "I'm sorry, but you're not the same Link I fell for. You're someone else and I cannot accept your offer."
His face did not alter as he watched me, but he somehow managed to step even closer to me. He lifted my chin to meet his orange eyes. "Well, my dear (Y/N), if that is the case, you will use those powers of yours to finish this battle the next time we meet. Until due time then, (Y/N). I care enough to allow you some time to escape and prepare, but if you want to reconsider my offer before then, you know where to find me."
He started to destroy the area around us. The former palace of Midna's falling to bits, probably to reconstruct his own. I sped towards the weak imp, and scooped Midna in my arms, calling my parents to follow after me. Handing her over to my mother, I created a portal and we all escaped through, landing in the normal place of Hyrule.
Everything was almost back to normal here. It was unbelievable how calm everything was here. No one would ever believe the chaos we had gone through and what the new Twilight ruler had in store for them.
I didn't know how long Link would take before he would come find us again, but I had to be ready. I would be the one who would return to him in the Twilight. I had to make sure it wasn't the other way around in which it would be he whom visited Hyrule. I needed to stop the Twilight before it came our way.
"(Y/N), honey," my mother said as she observed the weakening imp in her arms, "We need to help..." she paused mid sentence indicating that I tell her the name of the person laying in her arms.
"Midna," I informed her holding a look of worry on my face as I looked at the sky once again. What was I supposed to do now? How could I defeat a force as powerful as Link? With the combined powers of three completely strong forces, it would be extremely difficult.
"We really need to hide somewhere," my father warned, his eyes dashing around looking for a location. And then it seemed a thought had come to mind. "The Sacred Grove."
Of course. That was always the place of refuge. No one was ever there except for Skull Kid. The place was abandoned really and no one would ever think to look for us there.
Creating another portal, I transported all of us to the Sacred Grove, at a location near the falls. After creating a soft patch of leaves, my mother lay the tiny thing down, and started to chant.
"I thought he took all of your powers?" I whispered to my father as we both watched my mother conduct a spell.
"He only removed the symbol that bound us to Zant. We still have our original powers with the dark magic."
We continued to watch as it took several attempts to heal the injured Midna. Her features were extremely pale before we got here and it was most likely because of being left unconscious for so long. I couldn't help but pity her. Her whole world was already taken from her by Zant and now it was being taken over by someone she had worked with this entire time.
It was all my fault.
"Who was that boy, (Y/N)?" my father asked as we both sat aside to give Midna and my mother some space for recovery. We both sat by the water as I tried to wash the blood from my body. My feet rested within the water as well.
I sighed, "He was someone I helped to get the fused shadows. I used him so that I could retrieve the shadows for myself to save you and Mom, but that didn't work," I felt myself breaking down because of my failure. "And it obviously didn't turn out as planned. It ended up backfiring. I gave him one of our weapons and expected to manipulate him. It was going well and then all this happened and I..."
My father rubbed the back of my shoulder, "Just rest, (Y/N). You've gone through a lot lately. I can see you haven't gotten a proper rest since we last left you. We can discuss the solution to this tomorrow."
I continued to sob. How was there even a solution to this mess? How could I ever possibly take down someone as powerful as Link? He was probably unstoppable. What could I do now? You can't fight dark magic with Twilight. They were kind of on the same level.
I heard footsteps approach from behind.
"She's awake."
