"This is way better than my old uniform, oh my God." - Mia checked her outfit on the mirror.
The Seoul International School had a grey knee-length skirt, a white shirt, a grey blazer with some white details and, to finish off, a grey tie.
No shade to the color grey, but the uniform looked too.....dead.
She was still wearing a white shirt, but now the blazer was burgundy and the skirt was darker and shorter, plus, the tie was much prettier.
"Where's mom?" - Mia asked her brother, who was eating in the kitchen.
"Probably went to the orphanage again, she said she was going to volunteer this morning." - he replied with eyes still on the phone screen.
"Youngji left already?" - the girl looked around the house, searching for her older sister.
The boy raised his head, staring at his younger sister, hoping she'd notice that if she can't see the woman, it's because she has left home already.
"I was just being sure!" - Mia sat down after filling a bowl with cereal and milk.
"You should hurry up, you're not taking the bus anymore." - he got up to wash the dishes.
"Ah, right. I have to walk now." - she whined.
"It's a ten minute walk, Mia." - he turned around just to judge her.
"Well I'm sorry if I'm not athletic like you, Felix." - she mocked him with weird face expressions.
"You should be nice to me if you don't want to be an outsider at school."
Mia stopped with the faces, he was kinda of right.

'You should be nice to me if you don't want to be an outsider at school.' Ha.
I was nice and where are you now? Laughing with your friends while I'm here with sweaty hands almost pleading with my eyes that someone comes talk to me.
How come they all have friends already? I thought we transferred students were like, a team?
Or maybe they formed the teams already...
There has to be someone alone, come on.
Mia scanned the courtyard in hopes to find a target. She did.
"Hi! Are you new here?" - she approached a pretty, foxy girl.
"Hey! I'm not! Are you?" - the girl looked away from the phone.
"Oh. I am..." - Mia smiled awkwardly since her plan didn't go as expected.
"Cool! I'm Kira, I love your hair!" - she pointed at the purple highlights.
"Thank you! I'm Mia."
The two kept grinning at each other.
"Kira! Ms. Jang is calling you!" - another girl called from near the stairs.
"Gotta go, see you around!" - she waved and jogged towards the stairs.
After the little convo, Mia wasn't as nervous anymore, but still, she wished she had found someone to go to class and maybe eat lunch with.
And she would never go to her brother and stay with his friends, that would make her and them very uncomfortable.
Seems like I'll have to wait for the next opportunity.
The universe seemed to be on Mia's side, give that the first class was English. She absolutely loved English class because one, they were easy, two, it was fun to participate.
"You have a very nice pronunciation." - Mia's seatmate commented after she finished reading the text.
"Thanks, I actually have a trick." - her lips formed a proud smile.
"Really? What is it?" - the boy asked with round eyes.
"My brother is Australian." - she chuckled quietly, the boy soon following.
"I'm Beomgyu." - he put his hand up.
"Lee Mia." - she shook it with a smile.

"Who are you looking for?" - Hyunjin put his tray on the table while glancing at his friend.
"My sister." - Felix answered, still focused.
The three that were sitting down exchanged glances.
"Since when does your sister study here?" - Jeongin looked up to the older one.
"Since when does he have a sister?" - Han frowned.
"Isn't your sister like, twenty something?" - Hyunjin added up to the questions.
Felix sighed, giving up on looking for the girl. She probably found someone to be with, he thought.
"I have two sisters, how did you forget!? The younger one was transferred to our school today." - he slowly explained to the confused boys.
"How old is she?" - Jeongin asked with a hidden smirk.
"She's your age...maybe I can set you two up."
"Oh my God, we'd be brothers in law!" - Hyunjin opened his mouth in a circle shape.
"That would be cool." - Felix nodded.
"Gosh, how can you even think about dating your best friend's sister? That's weird!" - Jisung cringed at them.
